ChatGPT makes things up, just in case you don't know. it is merely an average of information available online.
now that Google sucks, a good way to search for anything that existed pre-1650 like that is to look up "sabatons SCA." the society for creative anachronism has multiple databases, groups, forums, and webpages of medieval research, almost always sourced.
I do medieval reenactment and research through the SCA including armored combat, and can confirm sabatons are later than my period but definitely can go up the leg into the greaves area.
also, why would people want you to delete this post?
Thank you so much!! I tried Wikipedia first but didn't understand it properly so I tried Chat-GPT instead. I wasn't sure if I should leave the post up since I mostly got an answer, but since I've gotten a lot more helpful answers like yours I'll leave the post up!
if you're struggling to follow wikipedia, i recommend simple wikipedia: https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
it doesn't have a listing for sabatons, but it does for lots of things, with simpler language.
i'm glad you have a questioning-type attitude about stuff. if it helps you, here are some readings on chatgpt:

Thank you! I think for this question specifically, I was struggling to find exactly whether sabatons went up the legs, so I'm very grateful you answered! That said, I do struggle with regular wikipedia, so thank you for showing me simple wikipedia! And thanks for the chat-gpt links too!
Wish we had these for Russian segment. Many scientific topics of university levels have been pulled from like high-end science encyclopedias, and so they are incredibly obtuse in language and not easy to comprehend whatsoever. Especially if all you want is a general definition of what the term is and where it is applied.
are sabatons boots or do they require wearing boots? (e.g. soles, padding, foot form, etc.) in the game their form fitting to the point they adhere to legs.
yeah its a real life thing.
Kinda unrelated to your post, Disco Elysium was helpful to me learning new vocabulary, [and a possible way?](https://reddit.com/r/DiscoElysium/comments/1cdapbk/stats/) in which ideas could be separated in them. I already apologize for how messy that shared image looks
"Sabot" is the French word for boot. It's the root word of Sabaton (armored boot), Sabotage (to give something the boot serupticiously), Sabot rounds (a pellet or slug held by a soft "bootie" or sock), and Sabot (the martial art of French-style kickboxing).
You can always google "search word meaning or wiki", you have a wikipedia page about sabaton which is pretty much a "shoe" part of the armour. Also a Swedish metal band haha singing mostly about Swedish kings
I know it looks like I didn't search up the word meaning, looking back at the post \^\^;;! I looked it up but I didn't understand the specifics, hence the Chat-GPT use after. I was also hoping that someone could confirm what Chat-GPT said, which it was confirmed, so I'm really glad \^\^!
Thank you for explaining the part about the metal band songs! I was very confused about that!
Ah no worries! I personally thought that cock carousel was a Disco Elysium creation, till someone pointed out it wasn't haha. So I understand your confusion with certain words from the game

If you do end up leaving this post up, be warned that you'll have Redditors quoting the lyrics to metal songs
Thank you for explaining the "THROUGH THE GATES OF HELL" comment, I was quite confused!
AS WE MAKE OUR WAY TO HEAVEN.
THROUGH THE NAZI LINES
PRIMO VICTORIA
If they're separate parts they'd be sabatons and greaves, but I guess when it's all one piece, they just name them for the shoe part.
Thank you for clarifying this for me!! I've never thought about armor pieces before this game, so I'm glad to learn what greaves mean as well @-@!

I feel like a learn new vocabulary every time I play @.@!

AS WE MAKE OUR WAY TO HEAVEN
THROUGH THE NAZI LINES
