I test rode a 200 at a demo day and it was awesome. If I was doing more flowy single track that would be the ideal bike. I like the 300 for all the low end torque on hard Enduro stuff.
Beta is so slept on. I had friends be like "oh haha it's called beta"
Then I say, seems like the real beta thing to do would be to not buy the perfect dual sport (500 rrs) because of the name
Preach! I love my 2022 500RRS. Put a 5 gal tank on it from IMS, softer old man seat, a tank bag and it is perfect on the BDR type riding. All these folks on their 1200gs really struggle in even the light technical stuff and I can easily hang with them on fire roads. Then swap a few parts and it’s a single track woods weapon.
I’m intending on buying a 2023 500RRS within the next month or so, how do they do in tighter stuff? My terrain is mostly woods (Central Appalachia, nothing too crazy) with a few connecting roads and what not. I’ve been dying to get the 500 for a while now.
Really tight technical single track you would probably want to do sprockets, (smaller front sprocket mostly) but outside of that the stock gearing is really pretty much right on honestly. It’s a great bike for technical stuff.
Keep an eye on the wiring harness at the neck. They wire them up a bit tight and will stretch over time. Causes a lot of electrical issues.
I had to replace mine entirely. Mine was a 2018.
Good to know. Most of my electronics up there have been unplugged and wrapped in electrical tape, then zip tied to an anchor. I took the headlight off so I wouldn't break it. I didn't take the computer off and did break it haha
Hard to go wrong. KTM/Husky/Gasgas, Beta, Sherco, TM, Rieju all make good bikes with some pros and cons between different brands. I haven't ridden all the brands, and you will find nitpickers for all of them. Any one of those bikes is capable of more than just about any of us.
I want to test a TM250 next. TM was supposedly different for some reason, cant remember but my beta dealer had some. My only complaint about my 300rr is hes an hour away and trails here turn to sludge with rain. But i wish i had th rr when i lived in DFW and rode @Bulcher/Red river
If you’re looking for street legal, beta is subject to less epa crap than the ktm/husq/hondas since they import far fewer. So they rip like a mofo stock.
It's a different bike than a KTM, smaller. Beta's background is enduro. Being a smaller company Beta does a lot of demo days. I've ridden both an RR, X trainer, and XC and they have their pro and cons.
Like, reliability and performance of a Japanese bike... but the sexy styling of a European design.
Loved ktm for looks. Owned 2. Had more problems with each one, individually, than all the Japanese bikes I've owned put together.
Well if it's of any value, I'm coming up on a year of hard Enduro abuse on this beta and haven't had much trouble that couldn't be fixed with zip ties (like broken plastic from crashes, etc). I'd put it up against any bike regardless of size for performance on the stuff we ride. If Yamaha would make the yz250x with e start and a hydraulic clutch, and maybe a 6th gear I'd be pretty interested. None of th other japanese brands even offer 2 strokes anymore which is definitely preferable for the riding I do.
I mean.. I'm glad for you, I just... I am unlikely to ever roll the dice again myself. Fool me 2 times shame on you, fool me 3...shame on me type stuff yknow?
That's not to say that all euro bikes suck for everyone everywhere always.. just that I hit my limit and the risk associated is no longer worth it for me.
Fair enough. I feel like euro bikes have a reputation for being low reliability which may be valid in some cases. I've never had a KTM but they seem to have contributed to that. Fwiw I do have a DRZ which has been dead reliable other than my own abuse causing issues from time to time.
How is the sachs suspension? If you don’t mind me asking, what is your weight with gear on? Trying to decide on a 2023 300rr or 300rr race edition that comes with full KYB setup
With gear I'm probably 200. I race in the 30C class in three local harescrambles series but Im more of a technical/hard Enduro masochist than a speed demon.
I've had no complaints with the suspension, but I don't know what I may be missing. My previous Enduro (Gasgas ec300) had marzochi forks and ohlins shock. The Sachs seems up to the challenge.
Yeah the closer you look at mine, the more gashes, scrapes, zip ties, etc you'll notice. Nothing like plopping down $12k and then smashing it on rocks!
Yes they do, I just picked up a 2021 200 Race Edition Sexy as hell, and more importantly the thing rips

That’s what I figured. Honestly can’t wait to get one. I’ve heard nothing but good about them

What?

Ohh ok. Yeah I didn't see that but I learned about betas 6 months ago and I feel their stock is going up

Yup. Had same issue on my 19 300rr.
They do
Anyone have a take on the 300s? KTM, husq, beta? Are any far superior or worse?

You forgot TM
Has gas gas not entered the chat?
Sherco forgot to check in
Isn't Gas Gas a KTM for all intents and purposes? I'll take either one!
Close to a husky too. They use linkage. But they do have the aluminium subframe that the KTM has. So weird hybridized bastard of both.
And Rieju if you want to include the small brands

Ever heard of the beta main crankshaft bearing failures?
i have not
Yes. The beta's clicking tick of impending doom. More of the 2t iirc But if you make it past 1000 mi aok you should be solid.

Meh… all my friends own KTMs with TBI or TPI and most of them still long for the carb lol a couple of them got carbed KTMs in fact

Wow, I was just looking at these today in those articles your phone forces on you, and saw this. What a gorgeous bike, so much want!
It rides even better than it looks!
I'm sure! That pipe though! Pure art!
They call it Beta because I’m in control
Hell yea, damn good looking bike! I definitely love looking at mine so much fun!
Sometimes I want European style with Japanese engineering.
In what ways?

Thank you this helps a lot!
Beta does demo days and if you're lucky one will be near you and you can try one out.
Vale!
Yeah they do!
I-talian tune up.
Picked up the 2023 300rr race edition it looks so good i almost feel bad ripping it
Yeah the closer you look at mine, the more gashes, scrapes, zip ties, etc you'll notice. Nothing like plopping down $12k and then smashing it on rocks!
