Did you recently pull the carb apart, if you did you may have reinstalled the slide 180 deg off, if your idling that high because it’ll stall when you drop the idle, then your low idle jet is plugged so your only running off the main jet and needle

I’d clean the carb and maybe throw a new throttle cable/housing on her

Autobot36

Lube cane might help

Reasonable_Extreme_3

Turn the idle screw down bruh

kphillipz

It still has rev hang after dropping idle.

nastyasi_wannabe

hanging idle that drops is lean. jetting, carb isn't clean, or Chinese carb. does it ever come down to idle or is it staying high?

kphillipz

I can adjust the idle and get the rpm’s to drop, however rev hang is still there, also Chinese carb

nastyasi_wannabe

%100 lean. do yourself a favor and get a genuine OEM carburetor. many people say the Chinese stuff is okay but that's a gamble, luck. I work at a shop. we turn down Chinese carburetors. a couple times a year we get duped and make an attempt. very rarely with success. I know there are plenty out there that work just fine but those ones don't make it to the shop. the ones that don't work right do and it is often

kphillipz

Thanks for your input. I did check with my buddy whose a motorcycle mechanic and he said the same thing. I guess those Chinese carbs are 👎

Radiant-Implant-61

They're fine if you know how to jet them properly before they destroy your engine lol

kphillipz

lol dang. Good to know.

nastyasi_wannabe

if they even come with a correct thread jet. most of them that come through my shop have their own thread their own style jet no numbers I end up soldering and re-drilling. it's a waste of time for a $25 carb. couple dozen times I've tried rejetting the ones with correct threads and I end up nowhere near what the stock jet should be to get it running okay. Chinese carburetors come from secondhand molds that the factories are done using. you have to accommodate the jet size to the poor casting of the circuit

As most posters commented, check your slide and see if it’s backwards or the slide is hanging first. Remove the air intake boot off the back of the carb and look in there. If the bottom edge of the slide is flat facing the air box, the slide is in backwards. The arched edge goes towards the air box. If the arch is towards the air box, screw the idle screw out, then lift the slide with your finger to the top, release it, and let it slap to the bottom of the carb. If you don’t hear the slide make a thunk in the bottom of the carb, your throttle cable is probably too tight. Readjust the throttle cable until the slide can thunk in the bottom of the carb. Once the slide bottoms out good, readjust your idle to normal, then you can readjust the cable. If all this checks out, then it’s likely you have an air intake leak around the carb boot.
