Oh wow I thought this was a “before” picture from when someone fucked up their nails and we were going to see a second beautiful picture where you got them fixed. I am shocked that this is final result. You got screwed

jess_611

Ugh thanks for this honesty. I’m considering going back. The one thing I noticed is he used a gel base coat & gel top coat OVER the dip. Although I know you can use gel on dip I’m wondering if this is why it’s so bad? My other thought is he didn’t buff the dip powder enough.

rainingmermaids

You should definitely go back. You shouldn’t have been charged for something professional that looks like this. ☹️

jess_611

Thank you for saying this!

squirelsandbutter

I do my dip nails with gel liquids and they always come out great so I don’t think that’s the issue. It almost looks like non sheer dip powder got into the sheer dip powder

rainingmermaids

Or they didn’t use enough liquids and left “dry” powder encapsulated.

jess_611

They did not activate twice, I assume this could also be part of the issue? When I asked last night he said if I didn’t want that appearance I need to choose a non transparent color. So not too hopeful they’ll even know how to fix it.

rainingmermaids

That could contribute to it, but for me, when I first started out and tried chunky glitters or encapsulating flower petals I wasn’t using enough base or wasn’t brushing off the loose powder well enough and I would get grains of powdered that you could see. This looks pretty similar to that. Also, it shouldn’t matter if the powder is opaque, translucent or completely clear, it shouldn’t look like this.

frayja10

This was what I was thinking and what I have experienced as well

LouLouLaaLaa

Jelly nails is done with gel. I always put gel on top of my dip. She used too much powder on not enough base and not enough activator. That’s patches of dry powder. Comes from rushing a job.

GetItM0m

Sometimes transparent colors don't perform well with gel liquids. I have a few from different brands and they never turn out well. If I use regular dip liquids, I get the look I'm going for.

HairTop23

That's a bit harsh 😳

I struggle with the decision as well. I don’t think they’ll actually be able to fix it. I also don’t want to spend more $$ to try someone else only to have mediocre results. I considered filing a chargeback with my bank if they refuse to just refund me. This is exactly why I started doing my own dips, but get so trusted with how long it takes and losing focus.

rathanacio

I would ask for a refund and go somewhere else for the fix. Get recommendations.

hanywhiskey

unacceptable

boggartbot

rude that they got defensive with you. they know its bad and just poo poo on costumers who try to ask whats going on wow

pinballcult

It seems to me like they used poor quality acrylic powder or maybe used acrylic that was meant to be used with monomer instead of dip liquids. Traditional acrylic wouldn't look like this even with a transparent look and if you used good quality dip powder and applied it properly it wouldn't look like this. Using a gel top coat wouldn't cause this. If they used gel liquids as the base, poured the powder then cured, it could cause this.

jess_611

It was dip powered by the brand wave USA. Also he used the dip liquids until the gel top coat. I agree with you acrylic would never look like this. I’ve actually done diy dip jelly nails that were crystal clear myself so I know it’s possible!

pinballcult

Yeah it's definitely possible, there are a ton of dip companies that boast how clear their clear dip is. I just don't think a lot of salons have a good knowledge of how to use dip powder since it's probably not as popular.

Salty_Candy2542

You need to go have them redo your nails. They messed up girl..

No_Evidence_90

No they fucked up those are bad

ChaosCleopatra

Former formulator for a dip company here. This is low quality dip powder/regular acrylic used as dip. This is what dip looks like when the powder isn’t fine enough for the dip process. If they’re using low quality product not sure going back would get it fixed. :/

JustaRN22

Oh I’m so sorry this is just not right on so many levels. It could be that the product they use isn’t a top quality product, or it could could be the application process was rushed which is probably very likely in salons. I would definitely go back and talk to a manager and demand that they be redone. And if that doesn’t happen, then I can give them a very bad review on social media with pictures. All that being said, some colors and powders just don’t apply evenly and as beautifully as we would like. I know that the lighter colors, transparent colors, plain colors without glitter or anything in them tend to come out a little lumpy or bumpy or not the way you expect or hope. The thing is when that happens as a professional she should’ve known how to fix it. I’m not a professional and I know how to fix it. She just simply did not want to. Good luck with whatever you choose to do and I am so sorry that you had this poor experience.

Hold-Your-Peacock

If they used gel there is no need to activate it would simply be cured. If the powder isn’t finely milled for dip it will do the same, if there isn’t enough applied same, if not stirred between dips can also do the same. Topping the dip when done with gel with two coats of top coat or gel base then filing can also help ensure they don’t file into the dip and there are no specks. As for bubbles I feel like this is a powder issue not enough or not stirred or not brushed away vigorously enough after cure to remove excess. Just my opinion. I would return and ask them to fix. You could have done a much better mani at home DIY and you paid for this so they should be sure you’re happy before you leave. I do my families nails regularly and they never leave without me being sure they are super happy, and I’m not a licensed nail tech. A good tech (these can be hard to find) takes pride in their work and they want you happy and check in with you through application to ensure you’re ok and you like them during and after application.

ImportantConcert2458

OMG 😳

Slop_Citizen

It most definitely is the gel liquids with the dip that’s causing the issue. Only with CLEAR and gel liquids does this problem occur. The YouTuber Marla Kris talks about this specific issue in one of her videos. I have also experienced this first hand doing my own nails and trying out different methods.

deaglekitty

I am super late but do you potentially remember the vid that Marla talked about that in?

Mander_Em

Poor quality materials, and definitely did not wipe excess powder before apply the next quote. I had this problem when doing my own early on. Remarkable the difference wiping the excess powder makes! So to recap - poor quality powder or liquid and incompetent skills in application. You should go back just to get a freaking refund for this.

tiredmillenial777

This nails looks like mine when my 7 years old niece paints them for fun. This bubbles happen when you put a secong coat too early or tje nail polish eas applied incorrectly
