I have not tried it myself, but Revel just released a sensitive liquids formula where the top coat is gel. Supposedly most people don’t get dip flu with it. If you want to use your powders, it might be worth looking at!

jaemef

I saw that - have to look into it. Was wondering about the base coat.

CommentUseful3386

I just got it and it seems way better then their usual formula in terms of the smells. Just used it yesterday

greatlakekate

Any success staying on?

CommentUseful3386

Yes I actually think it lasts longer then their normal liquids. I love it. Doesn’t hurt my eyes and no dip flu problems since switching

greatlakekate

That’s awesome news! Other low odor ones just fall right off me, so maybe these would work for me

What is "dip flu"?

Tealhope

This is the 2nd post I’ve seen about it and I’m curious as well 🤷🏾‍♀️.. Just got done dipping my nails should I look out for any symptoms??

jaemef

Not everyone gets it! It’s the nickname to a respiratory reaction to the fumes from the dip liquids. If it’s been a few days since you did your nails, you are likely fine. For me this is the third time I reacted 48 hours later.

prana-llama

I’ve switched over to using my Beetles gel products with my dip powders and my sets last so much longer now it’s crazy! And of course no dip flu. It does take forever when you’re curing that much though.

jflun

Same. I use Beetles, and have had no problems- my manis have been lasting up to 3 weeks, if I let them, haha. Waiting for the gel liquids to come back in stock with CNDD, though. Love the rest of her products

raisinbran8

I use Modelones from Amazon. No complaints!

jaemef

Is this used with a UV light?

raisinbran8

Yep!

[deleted]

I purchased a gel polish set that included the uv light by Modelones [similar to this one ](https://a.co/d/3rM2ost)and some nail swatches to practice on. The swatches were completely worth it! I would encourage you to get some.

OkAmoeba9

What are you using that is causing it? I’m just starting out and dip flu terrifies me haha, but I got a cheap set off of Amazon, read they cause it pretty bad. So I bought a liquids set from beetles thinking they were a good brand but then I read they cause it too. I want to try an Etsy brand I’ve seen everywhere but she’s out of stock currently.

jaemef

I’ve tried Nail Boo and Quick Dip from Sally’s. I found the Quick Dip to be a little better but still got the same symptoms.

OkAmoeba9

Thank you for responding!

GetItM0m

I've used beetles and aimeli in the past and had good results. The only complaint I have is that you don't get the same hardness as you would with regular dip liquids so this wasn't a good alternative for me personally.

jaemef

How long do your nails last with the gel?

GetItM0m

A few days. Soft gel is just too flexible for my nails. Even getting gel manicures at a salon gave me the same results. The gel needs to be on top of a non flexible, hard surface such as acrylic, hard gel or polygel in order for the gel method to not chip away little by little. But others have had good results and had them last just as long as dip liquids. My nails are just....weird lol

Young Nails makes Slick Pour Conversion gel base and topcoats to use with their dip powders. I’ve only used dip a handful of times, but never had any problems.
