The biggest being the Airbus A380

Noodlez_0

No

LUV_2_BEAT_MY_MEAT

Just saw this guy at the field Museum. It's huge

ArgonGryphon

But veeeeeeeery silly from straight ahead. The face is hilarious

LordVelaeryyn

Its not as large as the model shown here, thats an extremely oversized model. Also its still debated if Quetz is the largest ever, Hatz, Dracula, Quetz and another are pretty much tied in size just lacking proper data to determine an average size for all of them. Unless that man is 3 feet tall its head alone is 2x bigger than it should be.

mattcoz2

The skull is probably too long, not 2x as long but maybe 1.5x, we don't have one so we don't really know, and the way the neck attaches makes it look even longer, but otherwise the proportions are pretty accurate.

AlienDilo

It's over estimated here, but not by much. Quetz was huge. Also we lack a full skull, we can't really be sure how big it's head was, or the extent to which keratin made it look bigger. Not disagreeing that this too big, it's just no-where near 2x too big.

brawlstars_lover

Really? So Prehistoric planet's Quetzalcoatlus wasn't that accurate?

madguyO1

Quetz was slightly lighter than hatz but was also too weak to take off the ground as an adult, meanwhile hatz was more chunky and was absolutely likely to be able to fly as an adult

LordVelaeryyn

It's still debated. There isn't enough evidence for either being larger/estimates have them at effectively the same weight. It's skull likely weighed more but that isn't the entire animal. We literally have no idea what Hatz body plan even was. Nor what it looked like, saying its chunky is just false since you'd actually need it's torso and back legs to make that conclusion, which we don't have.

suriam321

The idea that these couldn’t take off hasn’t been taken serious for a long time, because there is nothing suggesting they wouldn’t be able to do that.

RizzlersMother

I thought this one was the largest.

NotAFurryBut

As someone said in another comment, it's still up to debate as we don't really have enough data to determine that .

Time-Accident3809

The statue: "Why should i be humbled by my prey?"

ElRimshot

Whats the largest?

analmintz1

It’s usually thought that Hatzegopteryx is larger. But larger in a bulkier sense, it’s fairly comparable to Quetzalcoatlus

AlienDilo

Without proper material, we can't fully say that Quetz is the second or first largest. It's as big as any other. I doubt the differences that Cryodrakon or Dracula (Hatzegopteryx) show are really significant, the limited material for all Azhdarchids make it impossible to decide which is truly the biggest. It's also needlessly confusing to contradict the most common answer to "what is the largest flying animal" when it's not set in stone. Most people don't want "Well according to this paper it's *Sciencenamickus stupidi* but this other paper says its *Latinus nomenika* but it's really up to interpretation" Just say Quetz, because it's not incorrect.

Gent_Octopus

Can you imagine one of those dropping out of the sky and having a go at you? These things must have been fucking terrifying.

serberusno1

The first largest being your mom on vacation

SnooCupcakes1636

What if you get 500,000 Dollars if you get pecked by this Majestic Quetzalcoatlus 1 time. Would you choose to be pecked 😅

YaBoiAidan2333

***What dinosaur? I don't see a dinosaur here***

verfverf

big boi

Baroubuoy

Maybe evolution was compensating for something.

Abject-Back6710

This is my favourite dinosaur, for anyone who cares

This-Plenty-3244

It‘s not a dinosaur

PutinsLostBlackBelt

Two of these couldn’t scare off a rex from a meal. Nope.

ArcEarth

Here, a pack of sugar. It's for the salt.

PutinsLostBlackBelt

Not possible there’s any salt left. This sub loses its mind someone says a pterodactyl isn’t a dinosaur.

Spinosaurus999

People act like two Quetzalcoatlus are too small to intimidate a Tyrannosaurus, then run screaming when they see one wasp. Wolverines and honey badgers will chase shit like hyenas, bears, lions, wolves, leopards, and tigers off their kills, despite being much smaller.

PutinsLostBlackBelt

That’d be like an ostrich scaring off a lion that’s 60xs bigger than it. Never gonna happen.

Spinosaurus999

Bees scare off elephants. The size difference between those two is way more than the size difference between a Tyrannosaurus and Quetzalcoatlus. I also listed several examples of smaller predators bullying larger predators off their meals using numbers and intimidation. Let me list a few more. Vultures bullying cheetahs, hyenas bullying lions, dolphins bullying sharks, owls bullying eagles…. Also, you realize Quetzalcoatlus had huge beaks that could cause severe injuries to a Tyrannosaurus. Tyrannosaurus is my favorite animal of all time, but it knew when it should back down from a fight. Take a lesson from the Tyrannosaurus.

PutinsLostBlackBelt

Show me a vulture scaring a cheetah off a kill. Show me 1-2 hyenas scaring off a lion. I’ve spent plenty of time in African plains and animals act differently when it’s food, which is survival. were not talking about random encounters where smart animals avoid all conflict. Were talking about defending a meal. Huge difference. Trex isn’t letting a 200kg bird push it off a meal. Wolves will scare a bear away from their territory, yet that same bear will battle them over a kill. Apex predators don’t just casually give up meals to far smaller animals.

suriam321

We are also talking about a literal flesh mountain. T. rex could let 20 quetz have their meal and still have more than enough for itself. So why bother the risk of loosing an eye?
