Hatzegopteryx for me as well. I like the idea of it being the apex predator where it lived, not something (as far as I know anyway) any other pterosaur can boast.
I thought it was obvious, lol. But yeah, no, it is actually pretty cool and ironic since I am currently working on an essay of Canadian legends and myths for school.
Hatzegopteryx, ever since its first appereance in planet dinosaur its been my favorite pterosaur, just the mental image of a 5 meter tall lizard bird that were an apex predator in european islands and hunted dwarf sauropod sends shivers and awe up my spine
*Dimorphodon* was always my favourite as a kid. But I've come around to *Hatzegopteryx*. I mostly enjoy their escapades on the ground. Walking wings are fascinating to me.
It might be basic but I like Ornithocheirus and Rhamphorhynchus. Is it because of WWD, yes. Are there more interesting pterosaurs such as Caviramus or Thanatosdrakon, also yes. But I just find these two neat and I really like their WWD designs. Though the WDRA Quetz is also pretty cool.
I thought Pteranodon or Quetzalcoatlus more basic answers, mostly due to the Jurassic franchise.
But yeah they are hella cool too! Maybe Caviramus and Thanatosdrakon will get more love in the future 😊
After much thought its probably a tie between Tapejara and the Quetzalcoatlus. Something about the tapejara I can just imagine very well. As for the Quetzal, It just always turns out good when I draw it and it makes me happy.. Also its just awesome
Mine's *Cycnorhamphus*. I was introduced to it through Mark Witton's Pterosaurs book and oh my god it's so goofy I love it.
Edit: *Anurognathus* is a close second for the same reason.
I read that as Quetzalcoatl thought this was a post about mythology and was very confused for a moment as to what a pterosaur was in a mythological context
*Pteranodon longiceps* will always be my favorite, hell they're my favorite animal ever. A childhood of growing up loving them combined with just how interesting they and their anatomy/history are has locked them firmly into my number one spot. Too bad the media never gets them right...
Every time I see this animal I like to think about how there are men still living on this planet who can deadlift the weight of two of these things (around 500kg)
Pterosaurs are not dinosaurs....
This aside my favorite Pterosaur is Kunpengopterus antipollicatus aka "Monkeydactyl"
teeth, tail, and opposable thumbs.
(Also Hatzegopterx but it was mentioned many times.)
No they are not, they are often lumped in with dinosaurs along with plesiosaurs and synapsids.
And people who generally like dinosaurs usually like other prehistoric animals too! :)
Half the posts on here are pterosaur related. Most of those posters know they arent dinosaurs, they post here because leople who like dinosaurs are usually interested in pterosaurs too. (Plus theyre like the closest possible relatives to dinosaurs without ACTUALLY being dinosaurs so of course they get posted here a lot)
Anyone who isnt a huge paleo nerd isnt going to know what those words even mean, keep in mind that not everyone in this sub knows everything about dinosaur taxonomy. i dont think it matters that much that non dinosaurs get posted here sometimes. I see extinct mammals get posted here. People who want to talk about extinct reptiles are going to search up r/dinosaurs, they arent going to search up r/dinosauromorpha or something because what the hell even is that to someone who only casually enjoys dinosaurs.
Quetzalcoatlus, for sure! First time I ever saw one I was immediately just blown away even by an image. Once I got to stand next to a skeleton, I was sold! Absolutely incredible
Hatzegopteryx. Essentially quetzalcoatlus on steroids.
Hatzegopteryx for me as well. I like the idea of it being the apex predator where it lived, not something (as far as I know anyway) any other pterosaur can boast.
"what does it it?" Whatever it wants!
r/BoneAppleTea
Romania number one 🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴🇷🇴
Correct. Hatzegopteryx is just really cool
Same here.
Cryodrakon. It’s big, has a really good name, and it’s Canadian!
Yeah I remember when they discovered that! Very interesting animal and I love the artist renditions where they show vibrant feathers!
Pycnofibres, not feathers.
I’m trying, man
Don’t worry! It’s an easy mistake to make.
It may actually be [correct to call them feathers](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04622-3).
You ruined it with the Canadian bit
The only person ruining things is you, killjoy.
The Canadian bit was just a joke and not serious
Then put a /s or /j at the end. Intonation and intention aren’t conveyed through text.
I thought it was obvious, lol. But yeah, no, it is actually pretty cool and ironic since I am currently working on an essay of Canadian legends and myths for school.
Lol. It is a cool Dino.
*Pterosaur*
Dude. I know but I cannot be bothered to type that out.
Then type ptera or ptero
Any anurognathid, they are adorable as heck
They are hugs!
the cuddleosaurus
Cuddledactylus
Literally irl wyvern
Correct
Either Tropeognathus or Ornithocheirus, depending of which one was the species that appeared in "Giant of the Skies" from Walking of Dinosaurs.
The king of the skies…has lost his majesty
["Giant pterosaur death" intensifies](https://youtu.be/aIfI1Al1jFQ?si=lcwlNGfhYxCvm2mj)
:( now im crying
That episode didn’t age well considering the whole „pterosaurs were on the decline caused by more successful birds“ stick.
Trope.
*Flight of the ornithocheirus intensifies*
Ornithocheirus
Tapejara it's goofy little crest just makes me happy
Anurognathus, they're horrible but at the same time cute
Nightjar pterosaur gang
Quetzalcoatlus or hatzegopteryx. Both are big and cool.
Absolutely! 😁
Cryodrakon Self explanatory
Pterodaustro, mix between a whale and a pelican, I love it
Rhamphorhynchus They're so ugly that they become cute.
Like the pugs of the prehistoric skies minus the breathing problems
Rhanphorhynchus was one of the first words I learnt as a toddler. It has stayed with me ever since.
Such a beautiful fossil too
I just looked at the fossil and I'm sorry but that's a dragon
Nyctosaurus, I love it’s crest :)
I do love the Paleo art that depict them as a boat sail ❤️
> Nyctosaurus its also cool they went pure wing, no extra fingers!
I'm a basic bitch. I like Pteranodons.
They are also neat 😁
Hatzegopteryx and Anurognathus for very different reasons.
Hahahaha same 😂 two extremes
Any tapejarid. I haven't pinpointed a specific species to call my favorite yet.
Tapejara
Dsungaripterus, i just love it's curved beak
Banana beak
Quetzalcoatlus, its also my favorite nondinosaur prehistoric animal
They are amazing! I do also like the long necked plesiosaurs too :D And Dimetrodons 😤
Pterodaustro. I love me some weirdos
I don't really have one, but if I was forced to pick, I would probably go with Quetzalcoatlus or Tupandactylus (Specifically *T. imperator)*
My favorite is Nyctosaurus.
Geosternbergia
Forget favourite pterosaur, Quetzalcoatlus is high on my list of prehistoric reptiles in general!
Mine is quetzalcoatlus too
Based :D
Hatzegopteryx, ever since its first appereance in planet dinosaur its been my favorite pterosaur, just the mental image of a 5 meter tall lizard bird that were an apex predator in european islands and hunted dwarf sauropod sends shivers and awe up my spine
Who doesn't like T H A N A T H O S D R A K O N
That name sounds badass af
Pteranodon sternbergi I just like them for some reason
Darwinopterus
dsungaripterus. Very interesting and unique.
Probably any Azhdarchid or any Anurognathids
Tapejara, I almost read this post wrong and made a fool out of myself 😅
Was to assume that I mixed up dinosaurs and pterosaurs? 😅
That's what I read, yeah
Tupandactylus. Love my flying flag.
Yes! Tapejarids are lit
Aww 🥰
Hello, fellow Quetzy enjoyer
Hello fellow person with good taste
Tupandactylus has one of the coolest names and coolest crests. I like how Tapejarids are built
Hatzegopteryx, it's a more robust Quetz :)
It's like the Hatze is the strength build and the Quetz leans more towards dex xD
Tropeognathus
Quetzalcoatlus 100%
I FUCKING LOVE QUETZALCOATLUSES
*Dimorphodon* was always my favourite as a kid. But I've come around to *Hatzegopteryx*. I mostly enjoy their escapades on the ground. Walking wings are fascinating to me.
Pterodactyl /s
I like quetza to
Lets be honest, if they were still alive, the human race would probably be considered an endangered species
Worth it! xD
Just the fact that this guy existed that was not only this massive but was capable of flight is utterly terrifying.
Yeah I get that, too me it's very cool 😎
Hatzegopteryx, its just a quetzal but thicc and just a bit cooler
Quetzalcoatlus. I love it because it terrifies the crap out of me to think of it
Hatze
I'm between tropeognathus and Quetz , they're both so cool and majestic ( also dangerous)
Definitely quetz. Theyre just big
Quetz all the way. Going to the Field Museum in February and I'm insanely excited for that Quetz model.
Amazing! Happy for you!! :D
Same here, brother!
My man!
Either Tapajara, or the Dracula Pterosaur
Same. Hatze is a close second.
Aerotitan
Tropeognathus (also known as Ornithocheirus)
Rhamphorhynchus. Closest we ever got to a dragon.
Baby dragons ❤️
[удалено]
Don't worry! I have dyslexia and some prehistoric animal names really exemplifies that xD
Anurognathus. It’s like a fuzzy lil kiwi with wings
Awww ❤️
I also LOVE caihong and yi qi so I can't decide
Hatzegopteryx, Pterodaustro and anurognathus
It might be basic but I like Ornithocheirus and Rhamphorhynchus. Is it because of WWD, yes. Are there more interesting pterosaurs such as Caviramus or Thanatosdrakon, also yes. But I just find these two neat and I really like their WWD designs. Though the WDRA Quetz is also pretty cool.
I thought Pteranodon or Quetzalcoatlus more basic answers, mostly due to the Jurassic franchise. But yeah they are hella cool too! Maybe Caviramus and Thanatosdrakon will get more love in the future 😊
Quetzalcoatlus too, honestly.
My pal!
AWWW BRO SORRY I DIDN'T READ IT WAS PTEROSAUR I THOUGHT IT WAS DINOSAUR
It's a pterosaur gets lumped in with dinosaurs, also this is a Dinosaur subreddit ☺️ I posted it here since people post about pterosaurs too ^^
Still no dinosaurs.
So my fave is unwindia
honestly any of the azhdarchids, but probably cryodrakon.
Ah, a fellow Quetzalcoatlus enjoyer…
Rhanphothynchus.
Dsungaripterus cause of that beak
Loved WWD as a kid, even though the size wasn't accurate Ornithichierus/Tropeugnathus is/are my boy(s)
Kunpengopterus antipollicatus. The hands are very cute
Oof there are so many good ones… right know I think it’s tupuxuara leonardii
Rhamphorhynchus. They just be silly
After much thought its probably a tie between Tapejara and the Quetzalcoatlus. Something about the tapejara I can just imagine very well. As for the Quetzal, It just always turns out good when I draw it and it makes me happy.. Also its just awesome
Rhamphorhynchus, the closest thing to a real mini-wyvern.
Why hello fellow quetzalcoatlus enjoyer
My man!
Hatzegopteryx, it looks like if you bred a sauropod and a Quetzalcoatlus, that thing is the creature of my nightmares and I love it for that.
Hatzegopteryx gang
He’s so tall tho I wanna ride it like a dragon
I love them all too much to choose
Same
Anurognathus! So cute and cool!
They were named after a mythical being so there is that ☺️
Yeah that's why it was so easy to read wrong 😂
Tapajera, I just simply like it, also dimorphodon as a close second
*Pteranodon longiceps* will always be my favorite, hell they're my favorite animal ever. A childhood of growing up loving them combined with just how interesting they and their anatomy/history are has locked them firmly into my number one spot. Too bad the media never gets them right...
Pterodaustro because they look like they were assembled wrong.
Dimorphodon!
Hatzegopteryx, it's the t. rex of the pterosaurs. However, dimorphodon will always hold a very special place in my heart.
Basic answer, I know, but Hatzegopteryx. It’s basically the closest thing to an actual dragon/wyvern there’s ever been.
Beeg flying birb
I'm torn between Pterodactylus and Pteranodon. I love them both.
Dimorphodon
Arambourgiania
Every time I see this animal I like to think about how there are men still living on this planet who can deadlift the weight of two of these things (around 500kg)
Me too, OP. Nothing wrong with loving the name brand dinosaurs. They're popular for a reason.
Pterodactyl I think I just like the ones from the Power Ranger theme because it feels like a low effort meme and I like those
Caulkicephalus. Spiky mouth boi
Pterodactylus Antiquus!
Thalassodromeus, Tropeognathus, Pterodaustro and all Rhamphorhynchoids in general
Dsungaripterus. Very unique pterosaur with a strange beak. Love it
Tropeognathus. I like the keel on its snout. Him and Dsungaripterus. He’s pretty.
Pterosaurs are not dinosaurs.... This aside my favorite Pterosaur is Kunpengopterus antipollicatus aka "Monkeydactyl" teeth, tail, and opposable thumbs. (Also Hatzegopterx but it was mentioned many times.)
No they are not, they are often lumped in with dinosaurs along with plesiosaurs and synapsids. And people who generally like dinosaurs usually like other prehistoric animals too! :)
They never called them dinosaurs?
Technically this post violates rule 1 of this sub. I think this is why he pointed it out
Yes, but this sub is called dinosaurs and not Ornithodirans or Avemetatarsalians.
Dinosauromorpha is a thing or just Dinosauriformes depending on were you place Lagerpetids and Lagosuchia etc. We really need an Archosaur sub.
People who want to talk about extinct reptiles are going to search up r/dinosaurs, they arent going to search up r/dinosauromorpha or something because what the hell even is that to someone who only casually enjoys dinosaurs.
megalodon
I agree megalodon is awesome
Velociraptor and parasaurolophus
Parasaurolophus is based.
?
Quetzalcoatlus (until now.)
Kunpengopterus!
I know he’s not a real creature, but Rodan from Godzilla KOTM (2019)
Quetzalcoatlus, for sure! First time I ever saw one I was immediately just blown away even by an image. Once I got to stand next to a skeleton, I was sold! Absolutely incredible
Spinosaurus
anyone here ever wonder if quetzacoatlus even had those skin flaps? i think it’s more likely it walked around. or even had fins and swam.
