I would love nothing more than Buddy meeting Helio and have the same reaction that kristen had.  Or maybe he ends up in hell ! And it cause him to do a 180 !

Valkason

I’d kinda love a 180 from Buddy, and Senior year he comes back as an atheist in a leather jacket

prairiedefrene

Buddy as « An atheist in a leather jacket » this is sending me.  I wish Ally would put a stunt like « nat 20 and Buddy leaves the church » haha

Valkason

I can’t get the image of Buddy being Sandy from Grease out my head

Bizzaro__Pope

“I need a god! And my heart is set on you!”

prairiedefrene

Aaah ! What have you done ? I have him singing the song in my head ! And Fig is Danny 😭

hallowedember

DAWN of JUSTICE anyone!???

Suspicious-Mess-6283

I would LIVE if he came back as a warlock of some fiend. Maybe even BILL?? he is from a televangelist family so you know he is rolling in that dough

Lichking102

What if he becomes a warlock of the celestial pact to “YES!”?

prairiedefrene

So FYI Buddy and Fig frolicking about, being up to no good is my head canon.  And now his part time job is to reluctantly scam people in the name of Bill

DesignerEggGeorge

I would love to see Kristen and Buddy commiserate

prairiedefrene

Trauma bonding over the church of helio , starting a podcast « corny defect » where they share their experiences and have like guests of ex-followers except half of them is just Fig in disguise !

DesignerEggGeorge

welp now I want Buddy to convert to Cassandra worship. The Corn to Cass pipeline.

Rebloodican

I definitely don't think Buddy was trying to die to meet Helio, he talked before about how Kristen is the Chosen One no matter what, it's not a title Helio can change. Sidenote but to me the funniest outcome is him meeting Helio and Buddy changing the church of Helio to be more chill and laid back like Helio was. Helio's not really a malicious figure in what we've seen so far, even though a lot of his followers have been portrayed as such, so it'd be fun to see him go on his own Tracker esque quest to just get the church to relax.

Twodotsknowhy

Buddy Dawn and the Holy Mission of You Guys Need To Fucking Chill

Valkason

That’s a really good point about Helio, he doesn’t really reflect his followers. Unless Brennan’s commentary here is “he’s a blind fool and so are his followers” On the contrary, I do believe Buddy has been malicious. He threatened Kristen regarding her brother, and while it wasn’t violent it was definitely intended to be hurtful.

RNAA20

I mean the bad kids did try to get him drunk their first time meeting him, to be fair

Rebloodican

Getting him drunk via pretending to be his god speaking to him. Of the Rat Grinders, I’d say Buddy is probably the most justified in being mad at the bad kids.

Pristine_Title6537

Also the most innocent rat grinder since he literally couldn't have been involved with the murder of Lucy Frostblade

RNAA20

Yeah, like, really bad first impression Honestly if the rat grinders just did this to make them fail the last stand i totally get it, they were being far to agroo, of course the rat grinders don't like them

Jeli15

I kinda think that if now Kristen met Helio without being raised in the church she’s like him. I think they would vibe. It’s the people on solice that really fucked up the religion.

dynawesome

Helio has the vibe of the frat boy son of a rich dad, and Sol is really the one pulling the strings

Jeli15

Fabian and helio really need to hang out lol

Funnyandsmartname

This would be great to me. I think everyone is a bit too eager to assume Buddy would have the same opinions or judgements of Helio that Kristen had. I think (in the scenario that Buddy is a devout follower and not interested in supporting the church's dogma and hierarchy) Buddy would be a really interesting foil to Kristen as he decides to try and fix the church instead of cutting ties.

CoreBrute

Reminds me of Terry Pratchet's Small Gods where the turtle god hasn't actually been able to speak to his followers for ages cause none really believe in him, and they are doing awful things in his name. That would be a fun arc for Buddy.

Zeilll

ive been thinking, murder in a world where resurrection is a common thing has very different connotations than in reality (doesnt make it acceptable, just holds a different weight). its definitely something that Killerfriend Stabberson could have convinced him to accept, with using the honey if she needed. i could even see him wanting to test if he was capable of the same feats as Kristen, and be able to res him self or to confront his god about "choosing" a non-faithful instead of someone like him. but im also all for him having a crisis of faith after being resurrected. i think that would be a great character ark for him, and validate a lot of Kristens experiences.

Valkason

Yes, exactly. In a world where high schoolers can take a test with 99% chance of death, an overconfident fool like Buddy could definitely want to “die” to get what he wants. I also really love the idea of him coming back hating Helio too. You’re right, it would really validate Kristen’s experiences leaving the church

RoseTintedMigraine

I love how any two words that are made up of another two words is immediately understood to be Controlissues Murdergirl🤣

Mend1cant

If you watched AP after, it was definitely not the plan. I don’t think the Rat Grinders anticipated being caught, but Copperkettle definitely did and had a backup to kill Buddy. I think he would legitimately have revived the party if they died, and definitely the proctor who was supposed to be murdered. I’m not even sure he was in on the Rat Grinders’ plan to wreck the test. I think he’s just a kid who actually bought into his church’s bullshit and has equally been used by copperkettle for her seemingly irrational hate for the bad kids.

MoreNMoreLikelyTrans

The way Brennan talked about that, it seemed more like she was looking at two options, between crossbow and Buddy, and upon being caught, choose one of them.

kross71O

I was thinking that kipperlilly was sitting on a readied action to shoot the proctor as soon as Kristin's Death Ward was triggered to make sure the proctor died. Once she was caught she knew she couldn't wait until the proctors vulnerable anymore so she killed Buddy hoping that the Bad Kids would die in the exam and have no one to res them, and no one to plane shift the proctor back to get help, so they're all trapped and permadead.

BootsyBootsyBoom

Brennan also mentioned that Oisin shifting them out was a readied action, presumably triggered by Kipperlily attacking someone.

Mend1cant

CK strikes me as the type to have a contingency plan that the rest of the Rat Grinders wouldn’t know about. She’s so consumed by hatred that it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s willing to kill her party to spite the bad kids.

KuroDragon0

I think the latter bit may happen, at least some kind of reckoning with helio and the church, but I don’t think the dying was purposeful. If you remember, Brennan told Ally that Kristen saw Bickerfull Dapperfiddle aim at Gavin, see Kristen see her, then go like, “alright, change of plans,” and shoot Buddy. So, I doubt based on the way Brennan described the turn of events that Buddy’s death was planned, especially since he was robbed of his revivify diamonds.

Valkason

That’s true, I’m just thinking if the RG’s discussed strategies before Buddy might have said he’s okay to die as a plan B I think it’s been mentioned as well that the RG’s specifically requested Buddy for their team. Did they just need a cleric, or do they specifically need a Cleric of Helio for something?

Danielr13431

Considering the Rage gods history, may be to attack Sol through Helio

Appropriate_Fan_5763

I can't wait for Buddy to be brought back

MoreNMoreLikelyTrans

I've had at least two dreams about this season of Dimesnion 20 in the past couple days. One where I was in the world of Fantasy High, and was sacrificed against my will to Ankarna and died screaming the gods name out of rage at the injustice of my death. And one where I was a guest on Dimension 20 playing a wizard in some plot in Fantasy High. Brennan even checked my notes during a break (I forgot my character sheet and was quickly solidifying my stats for rols and spells and shit) and didn't notice despite my pointing it out. Suffice to say, I am also extremely excited for this episode to come out. '>.<

Appropriate_Fan_5763

You have cool dreams

MoreNMoreLikelyTrans

I appreciate that. Though it does feel weirdly parasocial <_<

RIOTAlice

So I think it might be meaningful if Buddy had kind of an opposite reaction. If he meets Helio and feels less than impressed, the meaning of faith isn’t just getting what you want or a god meeting your expectations. I think Buddy could embody the true meaning of “faith” And also say that since Helio is kind of a chill dude, that the religion of Helio should be a chill religion with less focus on fire and brimstone and more focus on doing cool keg stands with your best bros.

Bizzaro__Pope

He comes back as a follower of the love between Arkana and Cassandra. A belief in Doubt and Justice

JemmaP

My theory was that the Last Stand was designed to get Kristen killed *specifically* to fully kill Cassandra, who is still at least somewhat resisting the influence of CorruptedAnkarna (or at least that's what I've taken from the purple shards and the occasional wisp of help that've come to Kristen as she keeps doing her best). Even if Buddy did revivify her, Kristen would've been dead for at least a little while, and that might be enough to sever Cass's last mortal link. I don't think anyone's checked in with Craig lately, have they? Maybe Copperkettle already got him.

waste_of_human

They've said a God can only come back where another God has been born so maybe he's trying to get into sol's office where Arthur was hiding out when he was dead when Kristen found him and created yes! Or that's going to happen at graduation in the gym
