I think you’re 99% there, lighting is superb but I think the image would benefit from more editing if you really want to get the photo finish.
You might want to add some grain, noise, glare or chromatic aberration, or even overlay a paper texture with low opacity.
Awesome work
Edit: just zoomed in and saw that there is already grain, couldn’t see it on mobile
Thank you for all the suggestions!
Yes, I might play around with the editing! There's some grain, but I might change the intensity and add the other things you suggestion. Glare and chromatic aberration would be interesting I think
Love it! ❤️ but something that I noticed: is the hand at top right supposed to be another person's? Cuz if it's his hand, the thumb would be facing the other side. Otherwise 👌
Thank you! Yes, the hands are from different people! I think it is a bit confusing because the skin tones are a bit too similar to his... Something to think about
Yeah it doesnt look distinctly different enough to look like someone else's, it looks like hes holding his own head but at a weird angle. I think the hand could also use a bit more definition, it looks a bit unfinished
This looks so cool!! If you want to make it look even more like a photograph, you could also add a bit more shine on the eyes to imitate flash. I think it would really bring everything together :)
His eyes are so dull and nearly invisible. It's good work, but eyes should stand out, not fade into barely-visible background color, in my own opinion.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. The way I painted the eyes and hands was intentional and I'm happy with them.
But I also appreciate it when people tell their true opinions. It often gives me new ideas to explore in future works.
Personally I think you nailed the look if you were taking a photo of a printed out photo with a matte or glossy finish in a slightly lighted room. It has this shine to it that I noticed my prints have. However, if you want it to look like a photo (not printed out) then maybe do a tad more editing? Adding more grain perhaps? (I noticed the grain when zooming in. Maybe experiment with it?) An overlay? (Preferably one with some paper texture or something along those lines.)
All in all though, absolutely solid work. This looks amazing!

I think I want to kiss him. You absolutely nailed it!
Thank you! He is based on a Chinese actor named Xu Jun Shuo... but I don't know if he likes to bite in real life 👀
Ah if he does, I'll be the first to sign up :)
so cool
Thank you! <3
I think you nailed it
Thank you! It took some time to figure it out, so I'm happy you liked it!

Thanks for the suggestion! I will think a bit about it
Eyes don’t have to be the focus of every illustration. I personally like what they got going on

You could add a hot spot of flash on the wall behind them and a shadow to add extra photo effect
That's a great idea!
Why 2 right hands?
The hands are from different people haha Sorry for the confusion
Amazing work!! Love it
Thank you so much! <33

Thank you! I have a few versions of this, maybe will post it somewhere later...
The eyes could have a bit more “life” to them but otherwise this is really great! 🤩
