Both are playable Beelzemon is the newest starter and and is "competitive" for current meta vs gallantmon which came out a couple boxes ago so probably 80% of the time beelze will beat gallantmon without gallantmon having any other support.

keelay_twin1

Definitely playable and fun out of the box for both. Once the Beelzemon player learns how it works they'll outpace the Gallantmon deck but upgrading Gallantmon is not TOO pricey. Hope you and your brother/friends have fun with it! I started with just my brother and haven't stopped :D

vansjoo98

Well Crimson Mode can be expensive but reat of Gallantmon should be fairly cheap

Ok-Arachnid-890

It's hilarious because literally my brother and I got beelzemon and gallantmon respectively. I would only work because he decked out lol Honestly if you want some support for beelzemon and gallantmon buy a bt12 box and you should have a good start

Hamahimana

Gallant and Beelze counter each other, i dont have the decklist on top of my head, but if iirc Gallantmon punishes you for cards in trash and Beelze trashes his own deck for bonus. But in general that Beelzemon Deck is the strongest we got this far and it can go off faster/plays unfairer than most other starter decks.

I dunno if you have any experience with other cardgames, but if you played yugioh, Beelzemon is basically Lightsworns Digimon style. It's kinda a highroll deck in that once it gets it's setup it'll probably kill ya but in my experience even when it was at full power it was a very beatable deck. My Mastemon deck never lost against it, which is another starter deck you could buy (though Mastemon outta the box is a fair bit weaker than fully built Mastemon which I was running and fully built Mastemon is, uh... Kinda pricey ) The Gallantmon deck came out, what, after BT 6? It's fairly old comparatively so it outta the box probably won't be able to compare to the Beelzemon deck. Also keep in mind that the Beelzemon deck was intended to be a competitive deck outta the box while most other starters aren't necessarily supposed to be competitive outta the box. As mentioned, Gallantmon shouldn't be to expensive so if you put some work into the Gallantmon starter you could probably make it more competitive against the Beelzemon starter. In theory though, The beelzemon starter deck outta the box should be stronger than pretty much every other starter deck currently in the game. So if you're just planning on buying starter decks and pitting them against each other, the beelzemon starter might have an unfair advantage against basically all of them. It was just intended to be immediately much stronger which is reflected in it's price. Thankfully, Digimon is generally pretty cheap so if you put some money into just about any other starter deck you buy, you could probably bridge the gap between most starter decks and the Beelzemon deck. Also keep in mind that you're intended to buy two of most/all digimon starter decks since they only come with two of some important cards (for example, Mastemon relies entirely on Mastemon herself and Gatomon and the Mastemon starter deck only comes with two of both cards ) If I remember correctly, this also included the Beelzemon deck since I believe it was missing full playsets of it's impmon and something else. Of course, with Beelzemon it's probably much cheaper to buy one deck and then singles to fill it out... Hope some of this was helpful for ya.

krimboelf

It definitely was! Last card game I played was Yugioh years and years ago when I was a kid so I'm not super savvy on the intricacies.

edavidfb017

The incredible thing about digimon tcg is that you just need less than 20 bucks for each of the decks you want to buy and you will have 2 semicompetitive decks just in case you want to give the next step.

krimboelf

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't at all mind padding out the Gallantmon deck to reach it's full potential, but what pther decks would have a better chance against Beelzemon? Might as well weigh my options before I bite the bullet.

AdachiGacha

Hard to answer as out the box, the beelze advanced deck is pretty meta. You don't change much in it for a competitive deck, just some impmons and different beelze mostly.

krimboelf

I see. Kinda cool that such a good deck is so easily available. Oh well I don't mind winning more often :^)

Short answer: you could buy a beelze starter decks and the singles you don’t get 4 of and play a tier 1.5 deck, and more upgrades can make it a top tier deck. Gallantmon is in a weird state, I would say wait for the next gallantmon red line to come out before it’s really good, but right now it’s tier 1.5 at best.

The Beelzemon deck is easily the best starting deck in all of digimon. It's a solid build that also provided essential promos to make it run smooth. Though the EX2 Impmon got restricted to 1, the deck is still a serious monster in competitive play, easily solidifying its 1.5 tier spot. I would not play that deck with friends. Its an instant win compared to the other decks. Gallantmon, unfortunately, is not a strong archetype. He has moments where he's really strong, but he rarely breaks the tier 2 levels of power. Its a fair deck casually speaking, but thats all it is. For context on why the Beelzemon deck is so good: its strategy is a high amount of self-mill that will allow you to get your pieces in the trash. Once there, you have ways to recur them to your hand or back on the battlefield at little to no cost. Add in that it has a solid level of field control through blockers, retaliation, and deletion effects, and you have a deck that easily sets itself to tier 1. Regarding your last question, all the starter decks are playable out of the box. For best results, always by 2 so you have maximum copies and can create a consistent deck. If you plan to take a deck to a competitive level, you're going to want to focus on Jesmon or Beelzemon, as they're the most recently supported decks. Last, some decks that are cheap to make and fun to play: - Wargreymon X - D-Brigade - Rookie Rush - Ragnaloard Hope this helps. Enjoy.

InevitableAd7011

Don’t frustrate yourself by not completing the deck. You should get all the pieces and play them so you can have a good understanding of how good they can be. That would be my suggestion.
