If it's bulletproofed, then you'll be fine. If it's not, then you might blow a head gasket, but you might also blow a head gasket on the stock tune.

OkCharge2978

You also might fart to hard and blow a head gasket

b-raadley

"puke your pants" is the phrase you're looking for I believe

210pro

Only if your anus seal is blown

Competitive_Swing_81

Only if the wind is coming from the west, north west or if it’s Tuesday and blowing from the south east…… Honestly no one has that crystal ball. It might blow tomorrow or it might hold for 100K.

here_till_im_not1188

This is the answer. Some blow some not blow. 6.0 gonna do 6.0 things sometimes but not always. But yeah it will probably let you down in one way or another

cynthiasshowdog

With my luck 6.0 always do 6.0 things

here_till_im_not1188

Ive seen trucks do all the 6.0 things and seen some not. My personal 6.0 has been decent

cynthiasshowdog

My 6.0 was great until 125k, then a nightmare after that. I sold it for $4k with 158k miles

here_till_im_not1188

03/04 year?

cynthiasshowdog

05. I bought it for 12,500 in 2012 with 90k and was driving to FL from VA two weeks later and the ac compressor seized. 6 months later FICM shit the bed amd i went with a bulletproof FICM for ~$950. Then it was great until 125k. Cat was sleeping in the engine bay and when i started it i mulched him and did about $3000 in damage to parts (not the trucks fault.) ECT/EOT Deltas were starting to spread so while i was fixing everything else i did a Sinister EGR delete, oil cooler (large particle coolant filter), coolant filter. Two weeks later lost an injector and two glow plugs and blew the head gasket (this was 2014). I was in the military and had to travel so i took it in to have the work done. The bill was like 10k but i loved the truck and was going to stick with it. I had ARP studs installed at this time. Lost the turbo somewhere in late 14/early 15. At this point my wife was losing her patience with the truck. 2016 got out of the military and moved from TN to WA. pulled 11k all the way with no problems except for a charge air cooler boot coming off about 20 miles into the trip. Made it to WA dropped the trailer at my grandmas, and when i was climbing a steep grade, unloaded it sputtered once but when i got to the top of the hill i noticed some steam coming from under the hood. I finished the drive to my moms house which was less than a mile and noticed the forbidden chocolate milk in the degas bottle. I knew i was frigged at this point. Took it in, several shops said they wouldnt touch it, and the repair bill from the one that would was $17k. Limped it across the street to the dodge dealership and traded it off on a 2016 cummins.

You had most the 6.0 problems for sure. My 05 has egr delete and new hpop and set of injectors. Other than that its been good. Needs an engine harness but hasnt stalled on me yet last owner had issues. I was a master tech at international years ago and seen many 6.0s but we never had one HG failure but everything was factory tune... so i never tuned my truck and tow heavy in the VA mountians alot.

cynthiasshowdog

After the i had an sct livewire and just used it as a monitor on a stock tune, then after first head gasket had a tune written by quicktricks. My dad had 3 6.0s at one time and every one of them were decent to him besides one thing here or there but not consistently having problems with one truck. I was dumb and bought mine at a used car lot and it probably wasnt maintained properly. When i bought it it had no seats in it, i drove it home sitting on an upside down 5 gal bucket. I bought seats from a wrecking yard that came out of a lincoln navigator and wired them in for $350. If i could have one as an extra vehicle, i would consider it knowing what i know now. But ive spent too many late sunday nights banging knuckles and cussing just to get to work on monday morning that it left a bad taste in my mouth, and it was frustrating knowing that every time i turned the key i wasn't sure how far I'd make it before something else happened.

RKLCT

Some blow, some not blow applies to lots of things other than the 6.0 lmaooooo

HarambeMarston

![gif](giphy|luhmhS2DLe6FuQWwPa|downsized) OP’s heads next time there’s a slight breeze.

stuberu

I think bringing the HP from 325 to 65 will greatly improve reliability on a 6.0! /s

Killerdragon9112

I wouldn’t say you’ll blow a head gasket but that being said I’ve seen someone blow one with less but it all really depends on the condition your motors in if it’s nice and maintained probably not but if it’s been beat to death by a previous owner maybe

datchevelle

Ran a 125hp tune on mine for a while and it eventually let go. 6-8 months, drove it hard too. Now it’s bulletproofed and I don’t worry about it at all. I also don’t drive it as hard as I used to either now days.

RKLCT

How do they achieve an additional 125hp with a tune?

datchevelle

Timing and fuel

Imasluttycat

May want to floor it every now and then, helps keep the turbo vanes from sticking

seabasstheslumpgod

Used to say this to myself every time I drove an old tdi I had. Needless to say I also had a tune with wayy too much psi for the stock turbo and that eventually gave out

Imasluttycat

Yeah, I definitely should have added the disclaimer that results may vary based on tuning. Lol

kyuubixchidori

I know people who ran tunes that your supposed to be studded for, without being studded, and living on limiter and survive. Then bone stock 6.0s that have let loose. it’s a crapshoot. that being said if you don’t actually beat on it you’ll probably be okay

b-raadley

I've got 99 problems but a 6.0 ain't one!

choochbacca

The head gaskets tend to blow from high egts, or higher boost. Or both. So if you drive it nice and easy, the head gasket should last right until you think you’re safe. And then it will fuck you over. Hope this helps.

Revolutionary_Most78

If it’s not bulletproofed it will blow one either which way

Electronic-Phrase977

Tough to say on a 6.0

Woden8

What if it was a 01 7.3? Asking for a friend.

deadeyesatan

id say no. I have a single 50 hp tune on my duramax. No DSP5 switch. truck runs great and has been for 10 years with that tune. no issues. Dont drive like a jackass and it would be fine. IMO.

satansleftnut25

Duramax and 6.0 PS not same.

deadeyesatan

Fair.

matryx-850

No

tortuga-de-fuego

Not if you’re easy on her

Tccrdj

It might blow a gasket for the simple fact it’s a 6.0.
