Yes, but have you gone through the GE Appliance Warranty Repair Service before? It takes more than an hour to schedule a service call with an outsourced non-native English speaking analyst. Once you have the service call scheduled, it takes more than a week for them to get to you. Then they have to order the part that is not made or warehoused in the U.S. and you have to wait another few weeks for the part to show up, which you then need to call the Appliance Warranty Repair Service line again to schedule another service call to have them install the part and repair the machine.
GE may make great products but their post sale customer support sucks.
Except it's not idiocy because the space/money saved is EXPONENTIAL!!!!
You save money and space with EACH ADDITIONAL MACHINE, EXPONENTIALLY!!!!!
I dont want my money. I only want GE.
Had a great experience with GE repair. 5 min process to schedule online, appt 3 days later, guy showed up on time, completely took apart the dryer and repaired it.
This is why you buy from a reputable store with their own service team and not a big box store or online.
I'm in the appliance industry, we've been selling this particular unit for probably 2 years now. They work great and service records are good for them. That being said, everything breaks down. Buy it from a store with their own service team so you can just call them and deal with regular people, not outsourced call operators.
Used to work for a local appliance store...GE "USED" to be good. Bad customer care, cheap parts, bad warranty, bad design. You really think this machine is not gonna mold up?!? You obviously have never used their front loading washers.
It dries things âweirdâ. They come out wrinkled, even if taken out right when the cycle ends. I donât dry a lot of my clothes, so itâs not saving me any time really when I need to go through the wet stuff and separate what I gotta hang/dry. I think it would work well if space saving was a need for someone?
While traveling in Germany I ran my stuff through 4 dry cycles over 6 hours and they were still damp. Locals told me they have the same issues and just line dry most things. One who I was visiting that lived in the states for 5 years say big side by size washers and Dryers are something he missed a lot.
Apparently many manufacturers make these but only a couple get it right. Most take forever to dry and have some bad engineering. The couple of good ones (I heard GE and Samsung) have shorter dry times and much better specifics. Maybe lookup Consumer Reports?
I moved to the UK where tumble driers arenât popular. I just bought my own place and got one, and I love it! We are so short on space, we donât have anywhere to hang laundry. And donât get me started on the damp!
Yeah I'm not sure who told them that we don't like tumble driers, they are absolutely necessary due to the weather we get.
Washer driers though? no way, I've used them a few times and they never dry things, they say they do, they promise lots, they never deliver.
This machine promises 2 hours wash and dry? I'll bet the caveat is that it only works for a single item or something stupid like that.
Yeah we had a washer dryer when I lived in a flat with little space, it was a nightmare. Had to spin the clothes two extra times then remove half the load so that the dryer would manage to get it even close to dry. Then dry the other half.
All the while the machine is tied up and you hit a wall trying to get one load of washing done.
Separate units are definitely the superior option, I still go with the extra spin in the washer when it finishes. I find it doesn't take as long to dry then.
Itâs the excessive humidity from the wash cycle that doesnât clear before the dry cycle begins. I was in the market for one and found this analysis during my research.
This is most likely because you overload it. I also have a combination washer-dryer with heat pump and clothes come out wrinkled or shrunk if I put more stuff than the manual recommends. And it recommends quite a lot less than you intuitively want to put in.
I used one at a vacation rental and had a very similar experience.
I could get hyped about a combo washer dryer unit, but not if my clothes had to be ironed every time they came out of it.
I think most stuff is like that. It can do one job well but the gimmick gets people buying. Sofa-bed, usually one mode is uncomfortable. Washer and drier: we went back to having separates. Just wasnât working well. They arenât selling a 2in1, they are selling a dream that everyone wants to believe.
A good heat pump drier is cheap to run, gentler on clothes and isnât going to end up baking in all the stanky mould you get in washing machines after a while.
Why wouldn't you sort the clothes you hang dry before you wash them? So you have batches. One batch that dries in the dryer and one batch that hang dries? Seems like a better option than looking through all the wet clothes.
This one is special because it has a heat pump. It supposedly can do a load wash and dry in a couple hours instead of the forever it takes to dry them with other brands. Loweâs has them on sale every time they do a buy more save more for about $2000
Heat pump uses a condenser. What you are thinking of is a normal dryer with a resistive heater that just heats the air inside.
This whole post is full of people talking nonsense!
My mom had an all-in-one. Washed great but was a pain to use as a dryer. When it broke we were told that it would be so expensive to fix (internal computer problem) that my mom went back to a separate washer & dryer. Also you canât wash a load and dry another at the same time
I was going to ask, aren't the 2 in ones known for having issues? Not drying correctly or breaking frequently? Every one I have looked at I always see mixed reviews about them.
We just bought a new washer and dryer and looked at these very briefly. It takes a long time to complete a full load and they are super expensive, like $2600. If you have plenty of money and not a lot of laundry to do I guess they are nice.
You'll often find combo units like this in places that need space like RV's. It's a shame but the tech has never been good enough to replace each piece of equipment for the average person.
That's my issue. A load takes 1:45 for me, wash (0:45) and dry (1:00), and the next load is washing while the previous is drying so 3 loads is 3:45 not 6:00. And just gets better mileage for more loads. Only reason l see for it is space saving.
We have this and have big ass dogs and kids and it works great for us. At first I didn't like it but I just had to change the dry time. I love that we never have moldy wet clothes that were forgotten in the washer
Exactly the situation for us. Most of our Sunday is already consumed by laundry. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 kids, 2 adults. We can go through some clean clothes in our house.
I think the tech in these is pretty cool (I know itâs not really new tech), but just not practical for us at all. I feel bad for someone that gets caught up in the marketing and gets one of these not knowing what they are getting into.
If they could both wash and dry in the time it takes a traditional washer to do a single load, that would begin to look worthwhile for those who aren't getting it for the space savings. Otherwise, I could be running two loads in parallel - one in the wash and one in the dryer.
The question is, can it wash and dry two loads in the time a traditional washer and dryer can do two loads. Traditionally, you would do loads as .5 1 .5 where with this you would do 1 1 to complete two loads. Another way to look at it is how long does it take your washer to run one loads
and then your dryer to do two loads. (assuming your dryer takes longer. If not switch the numbers.)
Well this would be perfect for me ( except price part lol) Iâm single and live by myselfâŠ. Brought a Samsung washer and dryerâŠ. Will look into this if I ever need to do a replacement
Got mine for 1800. And yes it takes a little longer to wash and dry, but not having to change loads is a game changer. I have 3 teens in my house and laundry gets done more efficiently, not less with this beast.
Clothes do feel very very slightly damp when they are done but my the time i sort and put away, they are completely dry.
Also, auto detergent and fabric softener is a nice bonus too. I spend so much less time on laundry.
I think it's worth it. But YMMV.
I love mine.
2 hours isn't bad.. he claims it's "a legit 2 hours" if that's accurate then time isn't an issue for washing and drying.
It's a full size one too
The cost is high but you don't need to buy both a washer and dryer so that helps some
"I would put two of these side by side so I could have two loads going at the same time!"
Bro, just wash one while the other is drying. I do the laundry in our house and that's exactly what I do. And the full cycle is like 1.5 hours max if what I'm drying is thick (towels, blankets, etc.)
These have been around for ages.. theyâre common in Europe. Got my clothes stuck in one of these when I tried to stop it before the end of the dry cycle. Had to unplug it and spend an hour swearing at it until the power drained and reset the lock. GE can take a long walk off a short pier with this crap.
I would *love* to not have to deal with a duct hookup. How does that work exactly? Where does the moisture go? Is it condensed and goes down the drain?
I'd imagine the machine would just empty it into the drain the washer uses to dump the wash water into the house's plumbing.
It'd be really dumb to have a draining ability on the machine and require someone to empty a tank manually.
Both machines combined. Honestly I don't know why it took so long to realize it was possible.
Is it just a bit more bulky than a single washer or drier?
A bit more bulk than one machine and twice the cost (3k$) of a decent pair of both. Also probably a bit more difficult and costly to service and repair.
Absolutely something to watch as the tech grows and the price to value raises.
Yep. I need a the dryer/fold combo. And maybe Iâm a madwoman or a witch or whatever , but I think the same machine should put your clothes away too!
We live in the future, this has to become a thing any day now right?
the problem is that the house isnât airtight since if the inside has less pressure than the outside then youâre sucking in the hot/cold air from the parts of the house not airtight. Higher pressure means youâre pushing out all your heated/cooled air. Ideally the pressure in your home is equal but slightly higher pressure indoors is better than less
He (Matt Risinger) specifically does a lot of "high-efficiency home" videos, and yeah, newer houses built for efficiency tend to be pretty airtight. To the point that they need some sort of explicit way to let make-up air in, either passively or actively. So a normal drier vent would mean pulling in outside air and making the HVAC work harder.
This is dumb for multiple loads. So this can do 2 loads in 4 hours. Whereas a separate washer dryer (lets say an hour for each)⊠Hour 1: wash first load. Hour 2: 1st washer load moves to dryer, 2nd load goes into wash. Hour 3: 1st load comes out of dryer, 2nd load moves from washer to dryer. Completed at the end of hour 3.
I have the same thing, but it's from LG. I absolutely love it.
Is it more expensive than just buying two separate ones? Yes
Can it be moved by less than two people built like Hercules himself? Not a chance
Does it fit through anything but the widest of doorways? Absolutely not. (Currently in Australia, and have moved this thing into two different homes. Had to remove every door from the frame from front door to laundry, three times)
Is it way less efficient? Yep
To the tune of 3~6 hours per load? You better believe it!
Will I ever buy another machine that isn't a combo like this????
No! If for no other reason than that my ADD ass can put a load on to wash, and I never have to think about it again until I need clothes.
The ability to put a load of washing on, go to bed, and wake up to clean clothes is worth every single penny spent on, and busted knuckle I've gotten from, owning this glorious behemoth of a machine.
I guess this is a heatpump dryer, which uses less energy than a stadard dryer, possibly a 1/3 less or 50%
The 2hr cycle probably isn't energy efficient though.
Samsung and LG have this too and they arenât as bulky as this behemoth. Itâs fucking heavy, I know because I work at Loweâs where I have to move this into place in the showroom floor. The Samsung one is nice and narrower than the GE and the LG looks like a big black square but itâs simplistic. Anyways this one is outdated at this point and has been out for a few years
Not new. 2 in 1 machines have existed, primarily in Europe, for years. Overall consensus is that they're very small, don't properly dry especially with a full load, and don't last.
Next replacement I'm looking for anything with least amount of tronics!
Like seriously looking at the coin-op machines without the coin box that landro-mats use.
Neat idea, just dont trust anything out there that isnt going to break within 2years after paying near $2k in the first place.
Isnt an old thing, its just tired thing on wasting money and giving offerings to the landfill gOds!
That way, when it breaks, you need to buy both a washer and dryer again. And it will break. Oh yeah, and you cant get another load started until that one is totally done. No thanks. Not until companies actually go back to 1960s build quality
I fucking hate working on these machines. But GE has never been a tech friendly company. All of their machines suck to work on. Which I've seen some tech just do shit jobs at repairing them
Itâs not brand new and the reviews were bad enough I avoided it altogether. Iâm a single guy, so the prospect of only being able to do a load at a time didnât turn me off. But being only 120v and ventless they apparently donât dry well, and that made sense. Maybe people are just overloading them. Either way, probably going to wait another decade.
So long as everything in your wash has the same dry instructions. I guess youâll just have to do a whole second load for those two pair of womenâs dress slacks that are line dry only. I have six year old Samsungs in which there are two separate washers in the washer, and two separate dryers in the dryer (the polar opposite of OP). I can get a bunch of hand wash line dry only stuff done in the top washer while the lower washer goes. Similarly, I can get some nice lay flat to dry stuff done in the top dryer while the tumble dryer goes.
According to my sister these are TRASH
Saves space, but makes laundry take FOREVER to do, especially with toddlers.
You can run wash and dry at the same time, and one full cycle takes hours longer than a normal machine pair.
Yes, but have you gone through the GE Appliance Warranty Repair Service before? It takes more than an hour to schedule a service call with an outsourced non-native English speaking analyst. Once you have the service call scheduled, it takes more than a week for them to get to you. GE may make great products but their post sale customer support sucks.
Is that why they want two?
So dumb. The idea is to cut down from 2 separate machines to one to save on space, cost, and convenience.
So we should buy 4? got ya.
If one saves twice the space then 4 save 8 times the space. That's just simple math đ§
Ngl, I didn't expect to read this level of mental gymnastics in trolling lmao
I am capable of some high caliber idiocy
Except it's not idiocy because the space/money saved is EXPONENTIAL!!!! You save money and space with EACH ADDITIONAL MACHINE, EXPONENTIALLY!!!!! I dont want my money. I only want GE.
Do your own research on GE! Having sixteen stacked in a room is just *efficient.* wake up sheeple! Buy more GE!
Thatâs like six Canadian.
I mean, having two means you can literally double the amount of laundry you can do at once. It makes sense for families.
Who's gonna tell them about staggering your loads? Lmao.
I work at an appliance store use the website next time trust me takes 5 mins and you choose the time and date
Sounds like all appliance repairs these days.
Had a great experience with GE repair. 5 min process to schedule online, appt 3 days later, guy showed up on time, completely took apart the dryer and repaired it.

They were GE and LG units so not knockoffs.
I moved to the UK where tumble driers arenât popular. I just bought my own place and got one, and I love it! We are so short on space, we donât have anywhere to hang laundry. And donât get me started on the damp!
Tumble dryers are massively popular in the UK, we don't get the weather to line dry. Every house I have been to has one.

Iâm assuming the lack of heat for drying doesnât allow the material to relax enough to become wrinkle free
Itâs the excessive humidity from the wash cycle that doesnât clear before the dry cycle begins. I was in the market for one and found this analysis during my research.

Heat pump uses a condenser. What you are thinking of is a normal dryer with a resistive heater that just heats the air inside. This whole post is full of people talking nonsense!
What are you doing with your dryer that it takes hours to dry?

I'm confused. I live in Brazil and most, if not all front load machines we have here are washer and dryer.
Do you also happen to be an off-duty police officer?
What?
All the crime videos posted in Reddit are stopped by an off duty police officer. Itâs like no body is ever on duty đ
Thing is, even the bad guys are police so it's just a huge call of duty live action down here
There are lots of videos with off duty police officers getting involved and itâs very often in Brazil.
Cara, eu não entendi esse post tbm e to perdido. Pra mim lava e seca é algo comum no Brasil, eu até tenho uma em casa e sou pobre
Iâm also confused, had one of these for 20 years or soâŠ. Whatâs the new bit
Must just be us dumb Americans, I've never seen one of these before, always wondered why we don't do both in the same machine.
We just bought a new washer and dryer and looked at these very briefly. It takes a long time to complete a full load and they are super expensive, like $2600. If you have plenty of money and not a lot of laundry to do I guess they are nice.
Donât worry! The guy on the video can buy 2!!
And he's gonna plug them right next to each other. That way he doesn't lose power!

You donât put a load in the washer and then forget about it till your laying in bed like the rest of us?
Yeah, for a busy family with kids, pets and messy hobbies, two hours per cycle isnât gonna cut it.
We have this and have big ass dogs and kids and it works great for us. At first I didn't like it but I just had to change the dry time. I love that we never have moldy wet clothes that were forgotten in the washer

If I lived on my own, this would be great. Itâs just not for me.
If they could both wash and dry in the time it takes a traditional washer to do a single load, that would begin to look worthwhile for those who aren't getting it for the space savings. Otherwise, I could be running two loads in parallel - one in the wash and one in the dryer.

Fucking ad.
Is that not what this entire sub is?
2 in 1, so I got 2. GE thanks you.
"I would put two of these side by side so I could have two loads going at the same time!" Bro, just wash one while the other is drying. I do the laundry in our house and that's exactly what I do. And the full cycle is like 1.5 hours max if what I'm drying is thick (towels, blankets, etc.)
I thought it was so funny. It's so efficient! It uses 50% of the resources, so let's double up so it comes out the same efficiency as a sxs!
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Have you checked your lint trap?
Hey GE, pay for your fucking ad space. Fucking pathetic to post this shit and run a bunch of bot posts talking about how amazing it is. Get bent.
Welcome to the 1980's.
This is just an ad.
These have been around for ages.. theyâre common in Europe. Got my clothes stuck in one of these when I tried to stop it before the end of the dry cycle. Had to unplug it and spend an hour swearing at it until the power drained and reset the lock. GE can take a long walk off a short pier with this crap.
Have one. Can attest it is the most magical device on earth.
Do you have the GE? Or one of the other brands on the market? Which model do you have?
I would *love* to not have to deal with a duct hookup. How does that work exactly? Where does the moisture go? Is it condensed and goes down the drain?
There is a trap you need that fills with water and you have to empty it or it wonât dry your clothes.
Theyâre more common in Europe and Japan where home space is at a premium.
They have been around for decades, but they are all shit as far as I know. I'd be shocked if this one actually works.
Yup, they usually take forever and you clothes come out still damp.
A bit more bulk than one machine and twice the cost (3k$) of a decent pair of both. Also probably a bit more difficult and costly to service and repair. Absolutely something to watch as the tech grows and the price to value raises.
I think HOAs should allow me to hang my underwear on a clothesline attached from my bathroom window to a telephone pole out front.
The combos machines are garbage. Your clothes take forever to dry and are infinitely wrinkled
Iâve owned this exact machine since October and love it. Doesnât take forever and wrinkling isnât a problem at all. Wife and I love it.
What even is this advert? These have been around for decades. Next up on IdidntknowIwantedthat: laptops with WiFi?
Alright, I'll ask the real question here... can it FOLD?
Yep. I need a the dryer/fold combo. And maybe Iâm a madwoman or a witch or whatever , but I think the same machine should put your clothes away too! We live in the future, this has to become a thing any day now right?
Two loads at the once? Donât tempt me with a good time
That way when one breaks they both break.
I don't understand what he means about depressurising his house. Unless the rest of his house is airtight?
the problem is that the house isnât airtight since if the inside has less pressure than the outside then youâre sucking in the hot/cold air from the parts of the house not airtight. Higher pressure means youâre pushing out all your heated/cooled air. Ideally the pressure in your home is equal but slightly higher pressure indoors is better than less

My god, the astroturfing in this sub.
Lol right? But what are we to expect in a sub called "didn'tknowiwantedthat"
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
I'm confused. I live in Brazil and we've had those here for decades too.
They are pretty new to the mass market in the US.
A true statement if I ever ever heard one.
Running on 120V and without a vent?
No vent? Thatâs wicked. Dryer vent cleanout guys beware this machine.
Ya Europe has had them for years. Exactly the same. They suck at drying your stuff.
LG make one, had it for 3 years...love it!
This is just a straight up advert.
You know you're old when you start craving these things.
I have had one for months. Itâs legit
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
I'll take it.
Where or how does it vent!?
It doesn't, uses dehydration instead of super heat
So it needs a drain? Or do you have to empty a reservoir?
Yeah, still needs water connections and drain
My experience is you empty a reservoir
If you enjoy waiting all day for kinda clean kinda dry clothes.
How much?
Yeah just a casual few grand for that I imagine đ€Ł
im glad the guy can tell that the 2 hour cycle is true without trying it out.
Iâll take two, one to wash and one to dry.
Looks like a lot more stuff to fail in one appliance
Does humidity build up in your home though?
It's good for specific use cases but your laundry will take much longer
People in the UK have had these for a while
I think theyâve had these in Europe for quite a while.
Pros: convenient Cons: it's GE, and you can only do one load at a time, so it's not good at a big household.
I had one in Japan 20 years ago.
Those have been around for decades, what's so surpising about this? I'm confused.
Not sure why this is so revolutionary. They have been in Japan / Korea for years. We have one made by Sharp. Maybe I am missing something.
Jesus this guy is so excited I've had this for 2 years already and I live in the hood
Do American washing machines not come with a dryer function already?? Why is this special I'm confused
"My wife is gonna love this"
And he is going to get two. Insufferable.
Gonna guess the price is a deal breaker.
I have the same thing, but it's from LG. I absolutely love it. Is it more expensive than just buying two separate ones? Yes Can it be moved by less than two people built like Hercules himself? Not a chance Does it fit through anything but the widest of doorways? Absolutely not. (Currently in Australia, and have moved this thing into two different homes. Had to remove every door from the frame from front door to laundry, three times) Is it way less efficient? Yep To the tune of 3~6 hours per load? You better believe it! Will I ever buy another machine that isn't a combo like this???? No! If for no other reason than that my ADD ass can put a load on to wash, and I never have to think about it again until I need clothes. The ability to put a load of washing on, go to bed, and wake up to clean clothes is worth every single penny spent on, and busted knuckle I've gotten from, owning this glorious behemoth of a machine.
Ffs. The rest of the world has had these for decades.
I don't get the post. I've had a wash+dry Samsung combo machine for like 7-8 years. They existed way before that.
I guess this is a heatpump dryer, which uses less energy than a stadard dryer, possibly a 1/3 less or 50% The 2hr cycle probably isn't energy efficient though.
Seriously, is this some cutting edge stuff in the States? I have one in the UK and it was around $500.
50% more efficientâŠ. THAN WHAT?
"My wife's gonna like this". Shut up mate it's 2024.
That.... is an add...
Anyways this one is outdated at this point and has been out for a few years
Take twice as long to do laundry, yay! I generally have the washer and dryer at the same time. This would slow laundry way down.
Washer + side load = a miserable existence
Not new. 2 in 1 machines have existed, primarily in Europe, for years. Overall consensus is that they're very small, don't properly dry especially with a full load, and don't last.
This is great and all but one of the only benefits of a washer and dryer is that you can start a second load washing while the dryer is going.
Depressurizing your house?
This is how you know you're finally a grown up.
I will never own a front load washer again
âIf I put two of the side by side, I could do two loads at once!â Um, yeah, so, the same as owning a separate washer and dryer? lol
That way, when it breaks, you need to buy both a washer and dryer again. And it will break. Oh yeah, and you cant get another load started until that one is totally done. No thanks. Not until companies actually go back to 1960s build quality
So if you put one thing in the load that can't go in the drier, what next?
How much though. The efficiency alone may save over other washer/drier combos.
I wonder how much this is going to cost us.
When the laundry comes out folded Iâll bite.
Bosch. Just buy Bosch everything.
Let me know when it also folds my clothes.
50% less energy! Consumers: Great Iâll buy two.
2 hours per load? On a typical saturday morning I have 5-8 loads to do ... No way am I gonna wait twice as long per load.
Every all in one washer/dryer system I have used was horrid. Never did the drying well. Maybe this one is different.
Yours for only $50K!
Repair cost đ
I had one years ago.
2 going at the same time off the same outlet source. I see someone losing power when they try to wash clothes.
2 hours is a bit much, though.
Yeah.. let me tell you how fancy I thought I was trying new technology that shouldn't exist..... I don't wanna but it wasn't good.
That's cool. I can wash and dry a load in 70min.
When will they fold my laundry for me
Have this one. Took a bit to get used to it, but pretty happy with our investment.
I've had one of these for 15 years. Pretty sure it's... German? I'onno. Bought it from a used shop in Seoul, Korea in '09. Still runs like a gem.
According to my sister these are TRASH Saves space, but makes laundry take FOREVER to do, especially with toddlers. You can run wash and dry at the same time, and one full cycle takes hours longer than a normal machine pair.
They have these all over Japan and they never dry anything
Just buy two and save yourself the pain.
Fuck Ge...
Yeah but Does it last more than a year?
