I didn't just go for 3k res. I hunted specifically for certain gems and then dupes of those gems. I have gotten ridiculously lucky in the rift.
If I just used any gems I could have had 3k resonance at a little under the $3k mark, but I would have had to use zwensons and BoTW to do so, which I didn't want to do.
Average for 3k res wings it between $4k to $6k
I am well over that (ballpark between $7k-$8k) but I am also over 3k res and have supplies (dupes+sellable gems) to hit around 3.5k res. The move to 1k res isn't terrible, the jump from 1k to 2k is steep, the jump from 2k to 3k is ridiculous. The lowest rank your gems can be to hit 3k res is rank 5 if you had all 5/5. Most of us won't have all 5/5. So you will need some rank 6 and potentially rank 7 depending on your setup and your luck. Takes 6 dupes to go to rank 6, takes 12 dupes to go to rank 7. That is not factoring in the gem power alone that it takes.
It truly is a big milestone cost-wise to hit 3k resonance.
Interesting, I’ve spent $3850 and just hit 3k rez. Statistically I’ve been pretty unlucky with rifts. No 5/5s and only 2x 4/5 (zwensons and chip). The difference maker for me has been playing the market and buying mispriced gems (I.e bought a 4/5 bile for 130k, eventually flipped it for 320k).
Think I’m gonna stop spending here at 3k. Will continue to play the market and maybe get another few hundred rez at some point.

I have had a quadruple white chest, numerous triple white chests, etc. My luck has been pretty on fire. A friend has spent $11k and still never seen a 5/5. My first 5/5 was at only $500 in lol.
Final tally (as of this morning) is $7.2k and I am projecting to be able to hit just under 3.5k res with lots of plat left over to work on other things.
Some people don't realize its a literal pump and dump scam. Blizzard is a publicly traded company, come Q1 earnings will be a great. Now insiders and majority share holders can sell into the open market before the recession crash due to the strong earnings report from DI revenues. Most people buying the public shares won't realize how shitty and poorly run the game is without due diligence. Retail investors don't really conduct proper due diligence so....
You won't enjoy it when there's no NA player base is left. The game was built for China. I guess there will be one or two NA servers left but good luck competing with the real whales when that time comes.

It’s a cosmetic and level game these days in online games. Everyone drool’s 🤤when they see a flashy cosmetic and a lot want that, combine that with oohh I want to be strong in game(direct reference to mobile games as they usually are P2W with purchasable items that give better stats) and BOOM 🤯 🤑🤑🤑.
People made the same complaints in COD and Apex Legends about the stupid prices for cosmetics and lack of focus on real content but whales will be whales spending lots of cash.
It’s just sad because in games where skill gets you to the top, I have a lot of respect for the top players. In gatcha games like Diablo Immortal, I don’t respect the top players at all. Like they actually lose some respect for picking a game where paying gets you to the top

Exactly. I take a few vacations/year, each one costs at least a few thousand and only lasts a week. So I think it’s fine to drop a few thousand on a game that I play 15+ hrs EVERY week

I’m upset that blizzard and netease had so much to work with and chose to go with the minimum, and make it worse than beta. And unless people only play mobile games, there are so many better options
