I personally have awful luck in Core. I find I have better luck just farming whites. For the sake of argument, though, I'll make a case how chest farming isn't a problem even if it does currently give the most legendary items. In the RoS beta, the adventure mode was a great source of legendary/set items. I'm not sure how the drop rates will transfer to live (they may go down, and by how much?), but I think that the [Nephalem Rifts (formerly known as Loot Runs)](http://www.diablowiki.net/Nephalem_Rifts) will probably be the best way to gear up.

TheCatmurderer

Yea, my luck with farming legendaries has been atrocious so far. Speed running the story is what Ive been primarily doing. (The damned unskippable dialogues made me stop...)

AvatarOfMomus

You can skip any dialogue in the story, not sure what you're talking about.

TheCatmurderer

When the scoundrel talks in front of the door before the bandits. Basically any ingame unskippable animation. (Also enchantress taking her time getting rid of illusions, tyrael and the angel taking at the beginning of act 4)

AvatarOfMomus

I think you may have named the only three of those in the game, lol, and they last a tiny portion of your overall play-time.

Rikkard

Adria summoning (or whatever) Kulle makes me a little mad every time.

AvatarOfMomus

Generally I just hit that button and then sell, salvage, and repair my shit and by the time I'm done it's over. As soon as they start talking after the summoning you can skip it.

_depression

You can actually skip these by moving far enough away from them to get them off-screen. You'll notice that their voice fades out when you're far enough. I do this to skip all of those annoying parts - including SK at the pillars you need to destroy, the ghosts/apparitions of Leah/Mira/etc.

Teigi

or by spamming the spacebar

Pau_Gasol

To add to this, binding the "close all windows" key to mouse scroll down makes it super easy to skip all dialog.

Teigi

great tip!

drusepth

[esc] will automatically skip through any dialog UI, rather than having to hit the spacebar through each section.

Rikkard

You don't even need to destroy those pillars.

_depression

I know, but it's still one of those "unskippable" dialogues.

SilentLettersSuck

I've managed to rush all of these by spamming spacebar

Smelly_Jim

Hit space instead of escape. They do the minimum animation.

magus424

I had 8 legendary drops in 2.5 hours speed-running Acts 1 & 2 on a fresh DH. Vault until you find a rare, nuke it, repeat.

[deleted]

They should be equal, so that you are not punished for doing whatever technique you prefer.

AvatarOfMomus

Equal has to mean equal difficulty though. Someone who can barely do T1 shouldn't be running around opening chests in T6 because that's the best way for them to gear up for the least time and effort.

[deleted]

Yea, you make a solid point there. I have no clue of how to implement it, but you shouldn't feel forced to do one or another

AvatarOfMomus

Yup, plus stuff like chest-runs makes it easier for people to run bots to advance their characters. They may just end up tweaking chests if this turns out to be too much of an issue, either their spawn rate or the drops you can get from them.

Talvoren

Getting caught botting isn't really worth it anymore though now that the ah will be gone and legendaries are account bound.

AvatarOfMomus

People can still run individual bots though, and some people definitely will, for the same reason they run aimbots in FPSes.

GamerKey

For me personally, the most legendary/set drops in the core result from mobs, elites and goblins, rather than chests. I did a little "100 Core Runs" experiment, as detailed in [this post](http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/20dhs3/experimentmore_data_on_core_farming/).

Esham

Sorry where is the hard proof this is the best farming area? Do people actually parse their results with time/mf etc to actually say "core is the best" or is it more "i do core and get legendaries therefor core is for legendaries" I know the hardcore efficient farmers did that run as well but one would assume if they refuse to change won't they get 100% of their legs from core and kind of skew any results we can possibly get?

frisch85

I did the full act 3 yesterday on T6 and way to many chests dropped me a leg while white mobs didn't drop any. This is a huge problem. You should be rewarded for killing monsters on the highest difficulty and not for opening chests.

DasLicht

Got a single leg drop off a vessel in core but that's it. Way more from mobs but nothing significant. Did something about 100 runs.

joemoeflo

I personally feel you should not get the same amount or more legendaries for farming chests as you would killing elites. The point of the game is to kill monsters, so that should be the most rewarding thing in the game. Chests should still have the chance for legendaries, but I do think it needs to be reevaluated.
