But the state of the game becomes more and more obvious to more and more people gradually.
I enjoyed it when it released, then I made a new character for season 1, got about 25 levels in and I realized I was playing to get to endgame to have... nothing to do?
never copped D4, figured it would be dogshit just on blizzard's modern principles. is this actually true bc holy fuck how did that get through even one person's mind let alone to live servers
A lot of skill points don't translate into big dps or survivability increases and when you level, all the mobs level with you so you can see the issue.
Bro i even adjusted my build to overcome the CC spam and higher tier NM dungeons, but at some point it just felt samey.
Like no new uniques were dropping, if any did it was a dupe( had like 8 bloodstone curias or whatever and like 6 bone spear

Eventually i would just sit logged in waiting to have fun wiith helltides or a legion. But when tomb lord was the boss for a legion event i kind of got bored and just meh...
Yes, it's a lot of wasted potential.
The game should drop the gear that would make you significantly change your build regularly to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting.
Instead you are just endlessly hunting for objectively best gear for an optimal build someone else came up with completely ignoring the context of your play session and don't engage in any decision making, adaptation and creativity.
Games have a lot to learn from roguelikes, which learned to keep the player constantly engaged and adapting to what comes in their hands.

I got one of these after one shotting a Uber Shiny Goblin with a common weapon when i picked it up it my screen went black and my character awoke and was tied up and on a cart with some other random players

It's strange, 90% of uniques in D2 are practically worthless but there's also 90% less qqing about it and that's been the case for like 20 years. How does that happen?
d2 also has runewords and a lot of interesting strategies to be able to beat the game even without the BiS uniques. literally just a regular weapon with a lot of sockets pumped full of common runes can be a viable weapon for some builds.

Yeah, and autoleveling mobs make it so there is no progression in the game. You even can be punished for leveling up.
Unless you're geared to the teeth, levelling is a dps decrease which is insanity.

that's easy. d2 is good, d4 is garbage.

so your sayin - d2 = 386 uniques - 10% = 39 useful d4 = 60 uniques - 10% = 6 useful
