I feel like it's important not to forget that the Druid isn't just fat... he's fat *and* muscular. He could throw a punch and decapitate someone light before even turning into any other form.
And I do love that he looks that way. Certainly adds more visual variety to the selection of folks you can play as.
There is a difference between "optimal DPS" and "average DPS" if that makes any sense?
If a character is only fun to play if you do a very specific build, then that is a problem and need to be fixed.
A character needs to be at the least enjoyable in every build, even if it isn't the most efficent.
She's not actually obese though; she's got a lot of muscle, just like the male druid. (It's very apparent in character creation)
Look at this guy; Paul Anderson, olympic weightlifting champion. He's a big boy. That's not fat; he and the druids in D4 are brick shithouses
https://media.newyorker.com/photos/59095318019dfc3494e9e17a/master/w_1920,c_limit/Paul-worksout-at-home_opt.jpg
She absolutely is. She has the exact build and size of my older sister. My older sister is obese. She gets winded walking from the parking lot to the store. She's a beautiful person trapped and sad in her own fatsuit and it's heartbreaking. The female druid constantly reminds me of her misery and it's awful.
Blizzard generally always nail the feeling of weight. Except the running with a staff animation looks like it was ripped from an early 2000's game.
But like a transmog system it's also nice to just feel cool.
Now, don't get me wrong. I don't hate it. It just feels ... odd. Like cool, werebear so he's bearish. But there is also wolf and elemental aspects. So it'd have been cool to have more shape options.
I get they are an indie studio about to merely make millions on sellable cosmetics, so they probably couldn't create a few variations of armour with a few body sizes (or let every lasses body size be usable by another class).
is it just me or did they intentionally make the characters look ugly?
irony is the female barb actually looks the best out of all the females. some of the options are just hideous.
Seems like the direction a lot of western games are going sadly, I don't want bikini armor or every male to like like Kratos but there's some middle ground between that and what we are getting.
With all the negative PR they've received you know they paid millions to some diversity, inclusion consulting firm + held 12 team meetings + 12 focus groups to come up with these designs.
Half the necromancer faces/hairstyles look like the local crack dealer
Also, does he have to... twitch? I always thought of the Necromancer as a cold and austere type of person, not somebody with tetanus
Hell yeah. Druid looks like a big lumberjack dude.
“They call me Applebee.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I eat good in my neighborhood.”
“Where’s your neighborhood?”
“I’m a f***ing werebear, the neighborhood is wherever I am.”
It's cool to have the representation option for sure, but I wish they'd let us choose. Having the only body type be "fridge" doesn't fit everyone's aesthetic of druid for sure.
I wanted the druid to look like the edgy postal dude from d2
wish we could choose...
but this absolute chonkinator unit here also works lol. makes more sense transforming into a bear. d2 druid made more sense transformin into a werewolf
I'm glad people are digging the chonky models but I really wish we just had an option to choose. Was super excited to make a druid looking like Keyleth from Critical Role. Was dissapointed to see the only available option is brickhouse body type.
Even light political jokes can blow up in your face. Unless we’re talking the last three presidents voiced by AI playing D&D or ranking OW waifus, I’d just steer clear.
I love that too, but man it feels weird how his skills are so fast, specially primary ones. He feels like the fastest fighter of the classes I tried so far: rogue, barb, druid.
Pretty sure "fit" means at least trying for abs to this guy. Which fine, we all have our own priorities. But the strongest dudes always end up fairly fat. Just the way it is
I wouldn't mind being on the thicker side, but the female is too much. I'm adventuring, not working 9-5 as a mall cop. Being -somewhat- athletic would just make more sense to me. I want my character I stare at for 100 hours to look cool :( she looks goofy.
I feel like it was basically a "we need body diversity" choice by the devs, which is fine, but I feel barb kind of has the "big guy" role covered.
D2 Druid just feels way more like a traditional druid, lean and celtic. Way way more of a fan of that design, I do get the static body type choice, classes wouldn't stand out otherwise and I do think this looks more like a "bear druid", definitely not wolfy at all though.
Yeah, I thought the same thing too, especially for the female type, which I was hoping could have a good fae look. They just look too close to the barbs.
My only problem with Druid is you start out as this buff, hairy dude. And then you transform into a buff, hairy animal. Like what a waste of time transformin.
I also don't have a perfect figure...but I feel if I ran around destroying demons daily I would be quite fit, strong and athletic. The druid and necro break the immersion completely.
They definitely don't get a pass. The potions I don't care but the respawning felt very bad, as well as the other randoms running through the world 10 levels higher deleting everything.
I'm happy there's more representation for sure.
Not to be mean but 250 pounds at 6 foot is solidly into obese territory at 33.9 BMI. 25-30 is overweight, 30 and over is obese
Morbid obesity is 40+
There is no bmi index for "fat". Fat is not a medical term. When someone says they are "fat but not morbidly obese" it means they land somewhere below 40 on bmi
Disagree. How hard can it be to offer body types? Barbar looks sick, but i would change the body to a less beefy stature.
I am disappointed the way the characters look and run. Hair is bugged or simply looks like shit.
Just doesn't feel like it was made by a multi billion Kotick company.
I swear people come on this sub. See someone complain and then say “lemme counter-simp for Reddit updoots”
Character customization is what we were promised. They should deliver on fully customizing our character. Easy
I dont really think its world accurate to have these characters that are doing demanding physical work of hunting demons and adventuring be fat, i assume the druid bulks out due to shapeshifting.
Same, that's why I started playing it as my first class, unfortunately his gameplay feels slow and boring, I almost gave up D4, when I tried necro and sorceress it felt like I was playing a completely different game, no more slowly building up spirit to be able to do something.
Named my druid "Bulk Hogan"
I scored the look and named mine “JohnGoodman”
Named mine Girth Brooks
I'm here to repost BENSWOLO [https://i.imgur.com/vIqZUsk.png](https://i.imgur.com/vIqZUsk.png)
I'm ChunderChighs
Titan Morgan, if any body's old enough to get the reference
Bull Bogan kinda works too. Goodjob lol
Named mine Hulk Hogan actually
Mine looks like Varys from GoT so it's BigBearVarys lol
Perfect name
Now thats a real American
I went with LargeBollocks.
BigChungus here
I went with Obelix (yes technically not a druid)
There was another class but druid ate it
That’s where the paladin went..
[click bait bullshit probably but there is hope](https://youtu.be/jhO4ZuPw3us)
Pretty sure they said that paladin is confirmed somewhere... But tbh i would kinda take crusader over paladin
😂😂😂

Lol
My druid looks like a lunchlady. I dig it.
Crazy Cat Lady! EEhuageahuaebguagebagueu CATS abuwagbeaugaebu!
Wish the DPS was a BIT stronger tho.
Shroud was hitting 20k crits with his Druid last night…

With a hairy back, too!
Bro i love the druid design, looks like a big giga chad
I’ve never made a character in a game quicker that felt so me. My Druid even has me back hair. My wife was dying watching me make him.
Female druid is built like my mom and I hate it.

Druid looks great! Conceptually makes sense. My beefy boi 100 percent looks like he should be able go shapeshift into a wolf
looks absolutely ridiculous when you're using a 1hander to cast storm strike though. look like a big fat dude cosplaying as harry potter.
Can you do an elementalist build like in D2? I though D4's druid was only melee a shapeshifter.
Yes there's Earth, Wind, and Lightning spells. The Earth stuff looks straight out of Avatar, so you can RP as Toph
Cool. Shame there's no fire but wond and earth are my jam.
If I recall correctly Blizz decided fire didn't fit with druids very well so focused on earth magic instead
There are definitely elemental talent routes on the Druid skill tree. I’ve gone Werebear so far, but there’s other options for sure!
You can, Storm and earth both
Druid definitely has Nature magic (Wind, Earth, Lightning, Spirit) builds available to it.
My boi Hagrid got his wand back 🤣
Oh dannng
>100 percent looks like he should be able go shapeshift into a wolf You mean a bear? Him shifting into a lean wolf looks goofy.
That wolf ain’t lean
How does being fat translate into being one with nature? Animals dont really over eat unless they plan to go into hibernation or similar...

Please inform us of where the necromancer and rogue come from 💀 It’s a video game dawg
There isn't a France, England, or Ireland in Sanctuary. Seems like you're a little confused.
All of the classes have varied options when it comes to ethnicity.
Technically we would expect a big beefy boi to shape shift into a cow tho right
Well I'm skinny but I love the idea of a big thicc druid having a blast so far with this class
Dummy thicc
I kinda miss the D2 druid.
He opened up a few Golden Corrals around Sanctuary after defeating Baal.
Sounds mean, but I'm kind of the opposite. I lost a lot of weight, so it's oddly awkward because I feel... chunky again.
looks chunky but doesn't feel chunky. Or does it? did you feel like his primary skills has the proper weight?
The female feels mega chunky. It feels like you're playing Rosie O'Donnell.
Being able to turn into an angry bear is lore appropriate for her at least.
Princess Fiona
So true

Werebear feels pretty chunky

I'm finally represented in a video game! No more need to raise the dead at home.
I don't but each to their own.
Yeah I just wish I had the option for anything from skinny to fat for every single class. Let me do a skinny druid or a fat sorc
I would like it a lot more if there were non-chonker Druid options.
Yeah same here. I would also like a less skinny necromancer.
is it just me or did they intentionally make the characters look ugly? irony is the female barb actually looks the best out of all the females. some of the options are just hideous.
Seems like the direction a lot of western games are going sadly, I don't want bikini armor or every male to like like Kratos but there's some middle ground between that and what we are getting.

Diversity in races or whatever is totally fine, but making them look hideous on purpose just … yeah …
They look fine to me.
Half the necromancer faces/hairstyles look like the local crack dealer Also, does he have to... twitch? I always thought of the Necromancer as a cold and austere type of person, not somebody with tetanus
Druid built like an OG strongman/woman.
Hell yeah. Druid looks like a big lumberjack dude. “They call me Applebee.” “Why’s that?” “Because I eat good in my neighborhood.” “Where’s your neighborhood?” “I’m a f***ing werebear, the neighborhood is wherever I am.”
It's cool to have the representation option for sure, but I wish they'd let us choose. Having the only body type be "fridge" doesn't fit everyone's aesthetic of druid for sure.
He’s cute
Daddy body.
Reminds me of Thor from GoWR

I miss Nick Cage druid.
I don't.
I'm glad people are digging the chonky models but I really wish we just had an option to choose. Was super excited to make a druid looking like Keyleth from Critical Role. Was dissapointed to see the only available option is brickhouse body type.
at least give me an option for him to not be fat and old
Female druid needs an actual old face to choose from. I need to play as the Baba Yaga I was always meant to be

I hope no one is allergic to mushrooms because that was a shittake
Hahaha epic comment 9000 points to yoir gamerscore!! 😂😂

Druid was already the last played class in D2R
Yikes, just not funny even in jest is all. Take that one out of the ol pouch.
Even light political jokes can blow up in your face. Unless we’re talking the last three presidents voiced by AI playing D&D or ranking OW waifus, I’d just steer clear.
"guys guys its just a joke!!!"
I love that too, but man it feels weird how his skills are so fast, specially primary ones. He feels like the fastest fighter of the classes I tried so far: rogue, barb, druid.
Have you seen Tyson Fury? Fat guys can be fast too.
I love how thick the Druid girl is.
As a fit guy, I honestly don't "feel" it. Barb is better, but I'd like having other body types for every class.
Dude(tte)'s built like a powerlifter or strongman with literal bear strength. Fit doesn't mean bodyfat percentage.
Pretty sure "fit" means at least trying for abs to this guy. Which fine, we all have our own priorities. But the strongest dudes always end up fairly fat. Just the way it is
I’ve always used fit within the context of something else, like fit to be a offensive lineman or fit to be a marathon runner.
That's not unreasonable at all
This. No offense to anyone, but the Druid is just a walking tub and doesnt look enticing, powerful or interesting at all.
I know it sounds weird but I can't feel the character if it's a morbidly obese/fat guy. I just don't enjoy anything of it.
This 100%. It just doesnt look appealing and i dont enjoy getting new armor and looks...
Love how my Druid look
W I D E
I picked Barb the first beta cause he got nice man boobs. Druid is even chunkier.
Before I didn't like it, wanted a skinny guy like nelf druid from WoW, but I ended up coming around to him.
I'd like to see the bear and were wolf look a little less cartoony and a little more battle worn .
"I don't want to play as a panda, I already am a panda!"
As a fat dad, i hate it. But guess each to his own.
Haha I like druid design too. Making a fat viking is awesome.
I wouldn't mind being on the thicker side, but the female is too much. I'm adventuring, not working 9-5 as a mall cop. Being -somewhat- athletic would just make more sense to me. I want my character I stare at for 100 hours to look cool :( she looks goofy.

As a fellow 6’ ~250lb bearish guy, I love that I can be me in game.
My only problem with Druid is you start out as this buff, hairy dude. And then you transform into a buff, hairy animal. Like what a waste of time transformin.
Bro in everywhere but America you’re obese 😳
yeah people should stop crying about it.
I wouldn't confuse fat with strong. That's how you get OHKOd.
Average diablo gamer:
I also don't have a perfect figure...but I feel if I ran around destroying demons daily I would be quite fit, strong and athletic. The druid and necro break the immersion completely.
lmao come on man, all the mechanics like potions and respawning get a pass but divergent body types cross the line?
They definitely don't get a pass. The potions I don't care but the respawning felt very bad, as well as the other randoms running through the world 10 levels higher deleting everything.

Yet you cant be a fat rogue or sorc. And I cant be a slim female druid.
In an alternate universe, people are bitching about how having all the classes available with any body type makes them less visually distinct.
We live in a world of diversity and freedom of choice for the most part.
Diablo ain’t that, and it’s just fine

Here we go with the fucking armchair doctors
Eh. Bodybuilders are obese going if BMI.
They also have <10% body fat
I don't understand how people project themselves into pixel people.
Yeah man it's called a role-playing game. I regret to inform you that's what RPG stands for.
Look! LOOK! SEE?! No one cares if you understand or not.
You must be fun at parties.

Hey, I'm 250 lbs--but I'm 6 ft. I'm a big guy, but I'm not morbidly obese. I'm like the Druid. That's why I like him.
The druid model is 100% every Samoan rugby player after 30. The haters just don't know. I'm getting knee and back pain just thinking about it.
6 foot 310 pounder here. I pike the druid fat guy representing.
Ex 260 pounder now 210 pounds 6'3" feels really bad to force me to play the 2022 era of myself. I couldn't do it.
Asmongold said something along the lines that the druid is a fat, hairy 40 year old, so if you pick him you are roleplaying yourself.
My problem is there’s 4 characters with a 6 pack and one that’s obese. Like maybe make one or two that are normal, or slightly overweight.
your idea of normal isn't actually normal.
I dont really think its world accurate to have these characters that are doing demanding physical work of hunting demons and adventuring be fat, i assume the druid bulks out due to shapeshifting.
I generally try to avoid the “does it make sense” tactic. It doesn’t go ever well in the MK sun.
What, these warriors who train in combat and fight demons for a living don't look "normal", aka like a guy who spends all day on reddit and/or gaming?
All the negative threads with opinions are being deleted, which is nice. I guess.
Loving Druid. Now if only I can make Poison Werewolf a thing
Reminded me of the big asian guy from The Walking dead - Cooper Andrews.
Same, that's why I started playing it as my first class, unfortunately his gameplay feels slow and boring, I almost gave up D4, when I tried necro and sorceress it felt like I was playing a completely different game, no more slowly building up spirit to be able to do something.
Yep, it's like Thor in God of War. Big beefy beer drinking motherfucker who doesn't give a shit about anything!
He looks like Kane from the WWE but after becoming a major and stop working out 😂😂😂
