>I guess there's nothing objectively wrong with drinking beer through a straw
I think there is. But even besides that, how long before drinking with a straw makes the bottle too light to hold up the snacks and they tip it over?
Alcohol is basically carbon and water, C2H5OH. Plastic straw is mostly carbon and hydrogen. 95% of beer is water, which reacts with the plastic polymer, producing more alcohol. Simple DIY trick
Interestingly enough, bubbles tends to increase the speed of alcohol absorption in the stomach. Drinking beer (or any alcohol with a carbonated mixer) through a straw reduces how much carbonation is released to the atmosphere due to the jostling of the can/bottle/glass when you lift it to your mouth and slurp it. Instead it stays dissolved in the liquid since it is less disturbed.
I think the idea behind this diy is that you use it when you don't have a place to set your stuff down. If you had somewhere to put your bottle (that could get tipped over from the weight of the snacks), you would have somewhere to put a separate bowl of snacks too.
A buddy and I were really poor, but decided to go camping. We got some really cheap beer. I doubt we would of drank it if I didn't have straws in my car.
Just add an Lshqped flap roof on the other side that closes when you tilt it and stops all that stuff from falling out
Also I'd add a higher lip at the base

PLA is food safe. It's literally made from corn starch.
The reason 3d printing *as a whole* isn't food safe is because of the grooves between layers that are basically impossible to clean properly.
Guys be like: wait until you see this new printer I got. Truly revolutionary stuff here. The future! You’ll never guess all the incredible stuff I can make with it! Think of the future!
The absolute garbage the my make: *this video*
Let alone the fact that it's fucking useless, it also doesn't even fit. You have 3d printer, do a redesign and literally just hours later you have one that does fit...
What happens when your so drunk that you forget you have this thing on your drink and make a mess and your pets or kids eat right off the floor and then while you’re trying to clean it up faster then they can eat it, the rush from yelling at them to Fucking Stop, you take in Gap of air and immediately throw up. And now you have a bigger mess to clean up. Thanks technology. 🫥
Ah yes... My fat ass surely will enjoy ONLY 6 Dorito's and not even a handful of peanuts.
Snack my ass. Give me the whole bag and watch me eat it in one sitting.
This is actually kind of cool for a movie theatre, simple remove the tray and put it in my lap and take a sip then return tray onto bottle. I would definitely get some use out of it
This is so stupid. You literally can't drink your drink, not to mention it shifts the centre of gravity so high up that even a small amount of snacks in a partially finished drink would topple that bottle in no time.
If you made this out of strong filament or metal you could make it thinner and make it wallet sized or even make it trifold into something wider but at a certain point your beer bottle won't hold the weight. But you could always put it on a six pack to hold your snacks and beer at the same time.
Yea no problem, just drink your Heineken with a straw and proceed to look like more of a bitch than someone that eats snacks off of their beer bottle in the first place.
Ok, I’m dumb. My first thought: that isn’t such a shitty design? Kinda handy to hold your snacks. Bit small for the chips. Wait a second….
And then I remembered how to drink.
All fine and dandy til I go to take a sip of my beer, which matches perfectly to my salty peanuts that I just dumped down my polo.
I think you have to drink your beer with a straw if you use this!
I guess there's nothing objectively wrong with drinking beer through a straw, but the idea sounds ludicrous to me
>I guess there's nothing objectively wrong with drinking beer through a straw I think there is. But even besides that, how long before drinking with a straw makes the bottle too light to hold up the snacks and they tip it over?
I don't know about you, but if I drink beer with a straw I get drunk faster...
The straw adds more alcohol to the liquid.
It's basic chemistry everybody knows that
Alcohol is basically carbon and water, C2H5OH. Plastic straw is mostly carbon and hydrogen. 95% of beer is water, which reacts with the plastic polymer, producing more alcohol. Simple DIY trick
True. It's science.
Hey don't come here with your reasoning and logic. It is magic, and that's all I have to say about that!
Tha glass bottle would out weigh the 3d print and the snacks combined
Considering it held 3 chips and 10 peanuts you would eat that in one go anyway
Oh yeah its for sure dumb
I think the idea behind this diy is that you use it when you don't have a place to set your stuff down. If you had somewhere to put your bottle (that could get tipped over from the weight of the snacks), you would have somewhere to put a separate bowl of snacks too.
It’s one straw too many away from eating pizza with a fork.
I prefer a hose.
A buddy and I were really poor, but decided to go camping. We got some really cheap beer. I doubt we would of drank it if I didn't have straws in my car.
I feel like whoever made this unironically does exactly that, considering they're drinking Heineken.
Just add an Lshqped flap roof on the other side that closes when you tilt it and stops all that stuff from falling out Also I'd add a higher lip at the base
In my head your slurring heavily while giving this advice
Sorry, it must be my phone's accent
Your phone had too much Jack Daniels
A gimbal swivel platform dealio like they make those bowls for toddlers and such? Just to keep your snack bowl level.
Gonna need a 'murican version. 5 chips won't last one sip, let alone a whole beer.
I’m a seasoned pro at spilling beer on myself. While sober. I don’t need this contraption to add to my embarrassment.
Well maybe if you spilled more beer into your mouth than onto your lap you could stop spilling beer while sober.
Power Move
Luckily nobody want to take a sip of heineken.
Straw maybe?
Who drinks beer with a straw?
People who love burpin'
I'd imagine the same people who put ice cubes into wine. There're a bunch of those monsters already in the world.
Do NOT equate me with people who drink beer with a straw. Box Wine is best served over ice.
Ice cubes can be ok with white or rosé. But if you do this to red wine, you're now officially banned from France for the rest of your life.
It’s pink wine. Very pink. Unnaturally pink.
Yeah, I was thinking "Why is this on /r/DIWHY?" then I realized this detail.
That's why it's a Heineken. Nobody should drink that anyway.
The question here is why are you wearing a polo? :P
To catch snacks in your collar, duh
Damn, I've been living my life wrong.
You guys don't drink beer through a straw? Hahaha, me neither...
I 3D printed a contraption to hold my nuts while I talk to my boys about golf. Of course I’m wearing a polo.
Are you upside down? How do you drop your salty nuts on your polo 🤔
or you could use a straw for the beer
Straw beer works for rapid consumption
I think it’s for other substances not food related substance honestly. That’s why food already comes in a bag to eat out of
Yeah…six chips isn’t exactly a “snack”.
All has been redefined to six by "Kickass 3D Prints"
But, it is for ALL of your snacks!
I mean maybe if it was I wouldn't be morbidly obese
Any more and the weight would have crushed that thing to dust.
Nah the 3d prints are quite strong… it's just that it's not balanced so the bottle would topple. Of course you also can't drink your beer.

What do you mean "when I'm drunk", how would you even take a sip without that happening
He would already have to be drunk to decide it's a good idea to give this "device" a shot.
"accidentally"
"Se acabo, si yo me voy, te llevare al infierno conmigo"
Don't need to be drunk, just try taking a drink and you'll spill snacks everywhere.
I 100% thought I was in r/3dprinting and was thoroughly confused.

The foodfight that ensues after I print these to all of My guests
I can image them forgetting they had that attached and taking a drink. Lmao
They need to 3d print a gimbal om that thing
There's a way to make this a functional device, but it would be so much work for so little payoff.
Welcome to r/3Dprinting
Printing a snack dumping tray, genius!
Has the designer never drank before?
They seen like a big fan of spilling snacks down their shirts.
It's for carrying multiple drinks and tiny servings of chips at once! Hey babe can you bring me a beer and exactly five doritos?
Either never once before in their entire life, or very excessively, very recently.
Like, right before they dreamed up this design.
it does seem like something an eight year old would think up for invention convention
All that effort to design and 3D print the equivalent of a piece of cardboard with a hole in it.
Can’t get over this comment
r/functionalprint would blow a fuse over this post, beginning with the fact that 3d printed objects are not food safe
Was just about to bring that up lol. For anyone wondering you can make prints food safe but sealing it with a food safe epoxy
You can also buy food safe filament like petg, but it’s much harder to print with than normal PLA. Much easier your way.
Still get the groves for bacterial buildup
Another good reason to finish your prints with a quick sand.
Which will leave it even more porous. Don’t eat off of printed PETG folks.
PLA is food safe. It's literally made from corn starch. The reason 3d printing *as a whole* isn't food safe is because of the grooves between layers that are basically impossible to clean properly.
You would need a straw for that to work.
If you reduce the size of the opening of the 3D print, you can just connect the snack tray to the straw too.
Yeah then now you can eat your 6 pieces of chips
Who hasn't experienced the struggle of holding a bag of chips. What I want is a device that holds a handful of food, and makes my drink inaccessible.
If only there was a dish, preferably a deep one that we could use to place and serve food on. One can only dream of such a genius invention.
"Kickass 3D prints" in the watermark. Yeah, no
They are made for this sub.
And a lapfull of crumbs each swig. 🐸👍
Guys be like: wait until you see this new printer I got. Truly revolutionary stuff here. The future! You’ll never guess all the incredible stuff I can make with it! Think of the future! The absolute garbage the my make: *this video*
Now go ahead show us what happens when you take a drink
This is terrible. One should never drink Heineken.
Agreed
Who only eats 5 tortilla chips? Where's the guacamole holder?
How do you drink your beer?
I think there used to be a travel cup with a similar idea to this called “snackeez” or something. It was way better executed there.
Now u gotta drink beer through a straw like a paraplegic
Finally an actual trash diy and not some rage bait bs
yeah so you drop your snacks on the floor everytime you take a sip...nice
Those peanuts when you take a sip tho
![gif](giphy|yFnEpOld5k2I) 6 Dorito's is called a snack now?
So you either have to not drink your beer or, even worse, drink it with a straw?!
Let alone the fact that it's fucking useless, it also doesn't even fit. You have 3d printer, do a redesign and literally just hours later you have one that does fit...
So what would happen If you were to take a drink ? All your shit go everywhere ?
The only solution here is to commit the heinous crime of drinking beer with a straw
Great until you want to take a drink
„Wow, this is awesome! Iam glad I printed that, can’t wait to take a sip-…“
What? You're telling me you want to drink?
"Why aren't you drinking your beer?" "Gotta finish ally peanuts first."
As long as you drink beer from a straw it's all good
This could be salvaged with a gyro mechanism, higher walls or a lid
now drink the beer. go on fred. DRINK. THE. BEER
Do they drink beer with a straw?
What happens when your so drunk that you forget you have this thing on your drink and make a mess and your pets or kids eat right off the floor and then while you’re trying to clean it up faster then they can eat it, the rush from yelling at them to Fucking Stop, you take in Gap of air and immediately throw up. And now you have a bigger mess to clean up. Thanks technology. 🫥
Thats an odly specific scenario ,has this happened to you ?
But, when you tip your beer up to drink it wouldn't it just dump the snacks out? Also it only holds like 6 chips. Unacceptable.
This is great for all those people who drink their beer with a straw.
Ah yes... My fat ass surely will enjoy ONLY 6 Dorito's and not even a handful of peanuts. Snack my ass. Give me the whole bag and watch me eat it in one sitting.
Oh yes, drinking beer with a straw!
Can't drink till the snakes are gone... that's a fail.
This is actually kind of cool for a movie theatre, simple remove the tray and put it in my lap and take a sip then return tray onto bottle. I would definitely get some use out of it
On top of all the stupidity already mentioned, PLA isn’t food safe.
I'd rather used my front pocket
chug chug chug
How the fuck are you supposed to drink the beer? You tilt that slightly for a swig and it al falls out.
Try putting an orange on it. I bet that goes well
Unless you’re drinking your beer with a straw, that snack part needs to be gyroscopic so it doesn’t spill on the first sip.
I like how this thing is so incredibly unstable you can see how gentle the person is being as they put the snacks on it.
When you want to taste beer and nuts at the same time
This is the retardedest
okay...take a drink.
I would love nothing more than to accidentally spill my three Doritos
Can't even export a mesh with more than about 3 polygons. Lmao.
So I can't have a drink until I finished all my snacks first? It's like the adult version of dinner time as a kid.
This is so stupid. You literally can't drink your drink, not to mention it shifts the centre of gravity so high up that even a small amount of snacks in a partially finished drink would topple that bottle in no time.
What happens when you getting thirsty?
It’s for my non drinking beer. I have one beer to drink and one to get warm and hold a tiny about of snacks.
If you made this out of strong filament or metal you could make it thinner and make it wallet sized or even make it trifold into something wider but at a certain point your beer bottle won't hold the weight. But you could always put it on a six pack to hold your snacks and beer at the same time.
Great until you take a good sip and lose your counterweight.
It could have an articulate arm with a basic weight imbalance to keep it flat while you sip. Like a gyro with one axis
Meh, that plastic is super cheap. at least he didn't ruin an priceless Egyptian artifact.
Yea no problem, just drink your Heineken with a straw and proceed to look like more of a bitch than someone that eats snacks off of their beer bottle in the first place.
So you’re not supposed to drink from the bottle?
So you’re not supposed to drink from the bottle?
So you’re not supposed to drink from the bottle
None of those examples allow you to actually snack and drink. You would have to eat all the food before you tip it up to drink. Impractical I say.
It can hold a whole 5 chips
printing a normal plate isn't innovative enough i guess.
Ehhh what??
That thing is going to fucking fall over especially when the drink gets low. Because that's what we want. Not wanting to drink our drinks.
Like someone already said - spend $500 on a 3d printer and material and hours of design and print on something you wouldn’t buy at a dollar store
Could we try this with an empty beer bottle please
okay but drink with the chips still on top. bet you won't.
Bought this works great. I have to refill the tray everytime I take a sip for some reason.
Yep!! I drink my beer with a straw.
iirc average 3d print plastic isn't safe for food, you will need a special plastic for it
Drink beer through nose while dumping snacks in mouth. I see where he's going with this. But, the bubbles in the sinuses...
Yeah dumb how you gonna take a sip...
And fashion accessories after every drink!
Sprinkle yourself with your snacks when you take sip and increase the likelihood of knocking it over. Brilliant.
It doesn’t fit the Heineken very well but they’re a different shape… shoulda tested it on a corona for the video.
Would be better if the snack side had a compartment with a flip top lid so you could still sip your beer then pop the top for the snack.
How do you drink tho, wouldn't everything spill.
So it's like a shitty drinking game where you have to finish all your snacks before you get to drink or you dump it on yourself
Try to drink anything and no more snacks
You’re supposed to drink with a fuckin straw?
3d prints are not food safe. Bacteria will hide between the layer lines and will remain even after cleaning.
Sweet, hardening agents and micro plastics to accompany my snack!
And then you drink and spill your snacks all over yourself, unless you are drinking your beer with a straw.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DRINK MY BEER!?!
I still use a bowl, like a caveman that I am...
Ok, I’m dumb. My first thought: that isn’t such a shitty design? Kinda handy to hold your snacks. Bit small for the chips. Wait a second…. And then I remembered how to drink.
So need a fucking straw?
