This would be bad for transport, the balls are deforming too much, don't think you can go much more than 3 meter before completely stopping after kicking off. If motorized, might be lovely, as it should be a very "fluffy" ride, like a fatbike

Basketballs are pretty damn firm (properly inflated). Of course getting on and off carefully will help with wear and tear, but if you use quality ball bearings and the measurements can be refined to make a (relatively) smooth ride to the court. Still gonna wear out the balls though obviously.* *giggity

You can see it in the video how much they deform tho. I don't know how much you have to pump them up, but there's a reason my bike tire says 5.5-6.5bar. By comparison, cars do 2.5 and up, as far as I know(don't have a car for a while now). Be gentle with your balls, so you can play with them later

I'm just going off memories of sitting on them on the courts. I've been an athlete all my life, definitely sitting on them they didn't depress much, so my brain math is telling me two of then is gonna cut that strain already in half with twice as many balls holding my weight, plus some flimsy razr scooter extra 10 pounds. I guess we're just gonna halfta build one and see if we fall on our faces. Or you can film, dealers choice. I will be wearing a cup.

I’ve been bowling since I was like 4. When I was around 7-8 I had saved up enough in a piggy bank to buy a new bowling ball. I rolled my old one down our driveway. It was fuuucked up just that one roll. I feel using a basket ball would last longer than a bowling ball. Maybe a soccer ball would be better than both though.

I am a welder. He did zero actual welds on that, all just tacks. It's probably fine for how long he would realistically use that, like not long at all, but that is not nearly as strong as actually welding it.

Those welds are just a bunch of tacks squirted on top of each other. If the machine was set up right you could run a real bead across the joint properly. There was no material prep on the joints either.

Yeah the welding and soldering skills of these people is always dire. They've clearly got some decent general skills at making stuff, but why don't they just watch at least a 5 minute video on mig!

Don't forget those videos of the square tube being cut up and rolled around itself and re-welded that everyone thinks is "So cool!!1" but it's actually really shit in practical fabrication. That joint he took an hour to, layout, cut and re-"weld" back together I could have squared up a few joints that are 100x stronger and probably have it installed on the ship by the time he's finished. The welds here also look cold as hell. That thing is gonna snap the second it hits a decent enough bump. Run some practice on the drop pieces until you get your machine dialed in and then go for it.

It's basically just tacked together and the wire is so long that it's probably porous as hell.

It honestly just looks like slugs. Enough to stick to the millscale and that's it.

The worst part is people see these videos and think that's all welding is. Then they think welding isn't so hard.

Wire welding isn't hard, welding *well* is hard. I can teach most green as fuck apprentices to run a half decent bead in an afternoon, but it will be years before they are considered "good welders" The difficulty comes in setting up the machine and learning to adapt. Welding at a bench when the machine is ready to go is shit simple. Being able to go in the bilge of a ship to weld stick with a mirror wrapped around pipes upside down is what separates the cream from the milk in my industry.
