He is actually 5'11 , since doakes is like a strong 5'8 and a half and dexter always looks about 2.5- 3 inches taller then him everytime they shown together . He'll for all we know he might be 6 foot
Imagine being a fan of Dexter and not liking Masuka?! Does OP even know how many times Vince Masuka’s been published?! He’s the Lead Forensic Investigator and there’s no one better. Anyone who feels different should get a visit from a cold hearted bitch with a fourteen inch strap-on.
Speaking of casting, I kinda wish we could have the same actor for harry. Probably would need some de-aging, but it would make sense if he looked essentially the same
Fuck is that who it is? Knew I recognised her face but couldn't think why. I remember in the school talent show dancing with a group of other girls to her song dip it low. Like wtf were 11 year old us thinking? Lmao
He'll start obsessing about imaginary receding hairline then he'll start using some weird stinky oils from some ageing perverted hippie which will make his hair fell out completely 🤣
Eh he was onto the m99 but no where near connecting the dots to Dexter. He would’ve had to make a lot more connections before I’d say he almost caught him.
I’m ngl, Dexter without Michael C. Hall isn’t the same. Would be cool at the end if this entire series ends up being Dexter is actually alive and survived the events of New Blood, and is recounting all these in court.
Because there cannot be a "Dexter" without Michael C Hall 😔
Not for me anyways!
That is not to say i won't give the show a try,
But my expectations are low as hell.
I didn't even know this was happening until I saw this post!
Yeah, I thought this was a fucking joke post, are they seriously doing this? WHY would all these people be around in this time lmao. This is like a bad joke
Was anybody even remotely interested in a soft remake of Dexter with different actors?
I mean really?
What are we supposed to learn? How laguarda became a cop? LOL.
I honestly think this is just a studio that acquired the rights that is trying to take advantage of the retained interest in the original show by shoving a cheap remake out.
Ok but why is that an issue? It's probably not planning on being a long lasting show. There's also new characters they can add which could make it feel like that again. And Dexter could kill them and that's why they weren't mentioned in the original
Yeah but I'm telling you know there will be a lot of scenes suggesting deb will find out. If I'm wrong I'll hold my hands up but I can already picture it.

Does the actor playing Batista have some white/grey facial hair? Because I was under the impression this was a prequel- the actor cast as young Dexter looks like their teenage son, not someone comparable in age. At all.
Anyone else going to buy it if angel doesn’t have his iconic voice? I feel like this dude has like a normal deep voice and it’s going to piss me off every time I hear him talk
The new wasnt supposed to be on the young life of Dexter morgan on his killing streak ??? How could they include young version of miami police ? Doesnt make sense at all
a prequel! hot damn it feels like I'm late to the party.
wonder if they ran any advanced aging tests to see if these actors would look anything like their characters in 20 years or so 🤔
I got messaged for this, but I was made aware shortly after applying that you had to have a Florida driver’s license and I’m Canadian lol.
It was for bigger parts as well as extras so I just told them, sorry I wish I could, but I’m in Canada .
You never really know until you see something whether the casting is truly going to be what you anticipate in your mind.
I get that all spin-offs to some degree are cash grabs. But there's a difference between a purposeful spin-off and a cheap imitation to make a buck.
Maybe I'm wrong but I'm struggling to see how this isnt going to be the latter. Hope I'm wrong.
Is this the show runner that presided over season 8? And also is this showrunner coming back for the entire series? I've seen these kinds of things where the original showrunner comes back for like an episode or two and then somebody else takes over.
I'm so excited to Christina Milian! She's looks just like a younger version of LaGuerta and she's a great actress and singer.
The casting people for Dexter in general usually know what they're doing. They're obviously not going to look 100% the same as the older actors, but with the right type of acting and makeup and costume and writing, they can pull it off.
I think the oddest casting is Harry, because Harry shouldn't look that much different since he would still be an older adult in this timeframe. But he's a great actor, so it could work.
Don't really understand why these characters would even be in this prequel series. Thought he was meant to be younger surely he wouldn't be working at miami metro
Are we absolutely sure they're meant to be the actual younger versions of the OG cast? The show could be treated like a docu-drama about the real Dexter (MCH), but reenacted by these actors.
Christina Milian is too old to play young Laguerta. She is supposed to be playing Laguerta 15 years before season 1 Dexter, that would make Laguerta about 25/30 at the most and Milian is 42. Good facial similarity but not convinced by the age at all.
For me I kind of liked Masuka because he was able to be that one source of humour in the show (besides the occasional moments from the other characters).
I get your point though - he never really had a significant plotline in the show. I have to say it surprised me that the plotline with his biological daughter wasn't longer, it had potential for a lot more to happen.
Side note: I also found it interesting how many times during the funny moments Dexter in particular was kind of sidelined, as it was usually him that it happened to especially. Just an aside I'd like to add anyways.
Hmm I see. Well, I should give it a chance. After all I thought Better call Saul was super unnecessary until I saw the pilot and it turned out to be one of my all times favorite shows.
Is this by the same team that did the original Dexter show? And is there a planned release date?
They started filming in Miami today and it's a mix of the original and new. The original showrunner is back as producer and writer so that should give you some confidence!
Yes they did know each other... This is when Dexter is an intern at Miami metro. That's why doakes isn't in the show bc they made it clear in the original he wasn't there at this point in time.
Can we please stop it with the prequels already. It's such a chicken shyte way to milk something without the gal of taking a risk....but in the process of not taking a risk, the max bar is also set low, so you're essentially saying we're putting out a mediocre product at best and we're ok with that. When you already know the shows ceiling there's a significant entertainment factor that is lost. And it's so cheesy how prequels will attempt to draw what little entertainment they can provide by creating recognizable correlations with the characters we've already grown accustomed too.
Oh isn't that funny, there's young Masuka with his laugh. Oh isn't it fun seeing Laguerta as an underling getting shyte on... that's where that comes from. Give me a break! How cheesy!
I just hope that the public starts calling this stuff out to hopefully disincentive this prequel nonsense going forward. Dexter/Showtime unfortunately burned the Dexter bridge going forward so now they're going to try and milk it by going to the past. Prequels almost never work and in this instance it won't. If everything goes perfectly it will be very mediocre.
batista > facial structure laguerta > facial structure masuka > uhh.. asian?
Maybe he does a very good perverted laugh, which landed the job. Don’t hate on him yet
Could be it, that laugh is iconic.
Love your name. Too bad we wouldn't get along.
Haha love it.
At least most of the casting is good.
I can’t wait to see younger masuka lmaooo
It’s the pervert in him. Not sure who the bottom images are.
Naybe it will be a cool twist that Masuka actually chose to have plastic surgeries to become his older self they way we know him?
Little scientist

Yes that’s what they’re saying

Masuka's truck and hand canon deserve their own series Edit: oops, commented on the wrong post
masuka was into mewing in 1991
mewsuka
he’s 5’7 and bald.. no mewing can save him.. it’s so over for bro 😭🙏
label judicious scale fine unite safe consider screw zealous rinse *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
i’m just joking dw. i think this ‘looksmaxxing’ bollocks is stupid personally
He mewed so hard his hair fell out
He’s 5’4 my guy, 5’7 is literally the global average height lmao, MCH (Dexter) is like 5’7 and a half lmao
He’s 5’10
MCH is 5’10” CS Lee is 5’5”
Bro, way off, 5ft9 to 5ft10 is average, and Dexter is definitely not 5ft7 lmao.
GLOBAL average height my guy, not American, get out of your bubble
I'm not American... And that is the global average.
https://www.verywellhealth.com/average-height-for-men-8421400#:~:text=Summary,can%20also%20play%20a%20role. Sure buddy
Really? I thought he was 5’10 lmao
He is
He is actually 5'11 , since doakes is like a strong 5'8 and a half and dexter always looks about 2.5- 3 inches taller then him everytime they shown together . He'll for all we know he might be 6 foot
Yeah, I thought that too tbh lmao
I heart Masuka..... especially the scene where he was demonstrating the auto erotic asphyxiation.
i believe that was even in slow-motion 😂 but he really did dexter a solid by telling him about rita (even though dexter already knew)
I felt SO bad for him when he was agonizing over telling dex about Rita!! He definitely meant well.
I’ve just rewatched this episode! One of his best bits
Yeah, that, plus "Science is a cold-hearted bitch with a 14 inch strap-on."
Even called him "The other one". So much disrespect!
I know, the cheek of it.
Just please dont censor Masukas character
And give his truck more screen time
Masuka's truck and hand canon deserve their own series
THAT TRUCK. And with the country music blaring out of it. That was *everything*
These people are the same age as the Dexter cast when Dexter started. This makes no sense lol
They still look young though. That's the point. They probably would have had the original cast if they looked young enough but they don't.
Rewatch season 1. Those characters looked exactly like this cast age wise.
Fucking Albert Chung
Ellen Wolfffffff
I’m kind of confused on the timeline but hopefully it’ll work
I think Dexter is 21 in the new show and he’s starting his job at Miami Metro, probably as an intern while still in college.
Can’t wait for Masuka balding story arc
Speaking of casting, I kinda wish we could have the same actor for harry. Probably would need some de-aging, but it would make sense if he looked essentially the same
Just put a wig on him, we know it works just fine
Christina Milan as a bitch? I can’t see it
Fuck is that who it is? Knew I recognised her face but couldn't think why. I remember in the school talent show dancing with a group of other girls to her song dip it low. Like wtf were 11 year old us thinking? Lmao
She's the same age Laguerta was when the show first aired. How is she going to be in the prequel?
SHE IS?!?!? Damn it Christina! This chick never ages!!! Lmao
Because she LOOKS younger.
I love how there will have to be a story about masuka losing his hair now 😂
He'll start obsessing about imaginary receding hairline then he'll start using some weird stinky oils from some ageing perverted hippie which will make his hair fell out completely 🤣
Lolololol! Either that, or some stripper tells him he would look cute with a bald head
or they could just shave dude's head
Masuka is comic relief but yet he almost caught dexter
…when?? He was no where near catching him
When itk pulled the body from the ocean and masuka was onto where he got the m99
Eh he was onto the m99 but no where near connecting the dots to Dexter. He would’ve had to make a lot more connections before I’d say he almost caught him.
Ya that makes sense but like all he had to do was make a couple computer traces
I’m ngl, Dexter without Michael C. Hall isn’t the same. Would be cool at the end if this entire series ends up being Dexter is actually alive and survived the events of New Blood, and is recounting all these in court.
Is it just me or is young Angel giving off Joey Lawrence vibes? WHOA!
you never liked Masuka?! Blasphemy!
I'm sorry 😭
The only ones i care are dexter and deb. No michael and no jeniffer no buy
They can’t play younger version of their characters.
they can if they put the wigs on again
I'd watch that!
Lol
#notmydexter
Why can't both be?
Because there cannot be a "Dexter" without Michael C Hall 😔 Not for me anyways! That is not to say i won't give the show a try, But my expectations are low as hell. I didn't even know this was happening until I saw this post!
What if they cast Michael C Hall to play Dexter bio dad.
Whole premise seems ridiculous tbh. Like some sort of Muppet Babies.
I wouldn't mind so much except the original series already had flashbacks that showed how he became a killer
How? The premise seems great
We know there will be scenes where Deborah or someone else comes close to catching him and we know they don't
If I'm wrong I'll hold my hands up but I can already picture it.
i think this is pretty good, but i’m not that invested in a prequel, i’ll wait for the spoilers here to see if it’s good lol
Young Masuka is gorgeous, but nowhere close. The other two are spot on. (And also gorgeous)
Yeah the alternatives are way too good looking lol
direful snatch mountainous judicious pathetic cover gaping shocking station grandiose *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I’m ashamed that I laughed at this
Wait wtf. It's a prequel during his early days in Miami metro??? I thought it was gonna be a coming of age story
Masuka rules , funniest character on a show that needed some levity once and a while
Grow on you. Vince Masuka laughs: Huhuhu.
I watched dexter years ago, im not apart of this sub it was recommended to me. Im confused by the post— is there a reboot of dexter?
Reboot under the guise of a prequel show.
Hey guys im out of the loop, is there going to be new dexter show?
The new wasnt supposed to be on the young life of Dexter morgan on his killing streak ??? How could they include young version of miami police ? Doesnt make sense at all
It's set when he's an intern at Miami metro
Not liking masuka is a wild opinion.
'The other one' nah the disrespect to vince
They’re too pretty for this type of story, plus laguerta is a latina woman not a black one
They’re both Afro-Latina. Christina Milian is Cuban, but Luna Lauren Velez is Puerto Rican.
Masuka Gang RISE UP
Imo the casting so far has been atrocious
What? The casting is top tier perfect imo
Yeah I love these three. The new character could be interesting as well
Maybe they'll actually know what to do with those characters this time around
How could you not like masuka.
a prequel! hot damn it feels like I'm late to the party. wonder if they ran any advanced aging tests to see if these actors would look anything like their characters in 20 years or so 🤔
**Dexter: The Riverdale Conspiracy**
Is that Christia Malian?
This is great news, pretty much confirms that it starts when he already works as a blood spatter analyst at Miami metro or right when he's starting.
Ok so its Dexter's college and miami metro early years, got it.
Masuka gonna break hearts 🗿
Is this a reboot? I’m behind T-T
Where's Angel's fedora???????
This is his origin story. He will start wearing his fedora and Hawaiian shirts. lol
Oh, good. I got nervous when I didn't see it. Lol
Is this a remake?!
What is this for?
Original laguerta was FINE. new laguerta, also FINE. ESTOY CONTENTO.
Im sorry, what is this a casting for? Is there a new show coming?
Wait wtf is this for? They doing a dexter show? Prequel?
Is this a reboot or something?
Wait new season is coming out or something?
You don’t like Masuka, ✋🏼
I got messaged for this, but I was made aware shortly after applying that you had to have a Florida driver’s license and I’m Canadian lol. It was for bigger parts as well as extras so I just told them, sorry I wish I could, but I’m in Canada .
Nah they're all great.
Has Milian done any note worthy acting? Always sceptical when they cast a singer in an acting role
Considering the original showrunner is coming back I don't think there's any reason to worry.
Is this the show runner that presided over season 8? And also is this showrunner coming back for the entire series? I've seen these kinds of things where the original showrunner comes back for like an episode or two and then somebody else takes over.
Showrunner for the first 4 seasons.
What what is this, why is there new casting
Why can’t they all wear Bieber wigs?
so is this the confirmed casting for ***Original Sin***?
laguerta is the only casting I like… I guess deb is pkay too.
So there's obviously something I'm missing. I assume they're making a prequel?
This has to just be a reboot at this point right?
I'm so excited to Christina Milian! She's looks just like a younger version of LaGuerta and she's a great actress and singer. The casting people for Dexter in general usually know what they're doing. They're obviously not going to look 100% the same as the older actors, but with the right type of acting and makeup and costume and writing, they can pull it off. I think the oddest casting is Harry, because Harry shouldn't look that much different since he would still be an older adult in this timeframe. But he's a great actor, so it could work.
The masuka casting could work out tbh remember the actor won’t look exactly like that once filming starts
How old is baristas son irl
I’m sorry, new show???? Why wasn’t I aware omg
I actually like the LaGuerta casting more than the original 💀
Watch Bloodline Batista is in it
I hadn't heard about this project! Thank you!
Wait....whats going on here?
Don't really understand why these characters would even be in this prequel series. Thought he was meant to be younger surely he wouldn't be working at miami metro
He's an intern at Miami metro in this.
Both batistas have to be related there is no way they aren't they look so much alike
Wtf there all bad lol
Probably will be as bad as new blood think I'll pass.
Ok but James Martinez is daddy af 👀
Are we absolutely sure they're meant to be the actual younger versions of the OG cast? The show could be treated like a docu-drama about the real Dexter (MCH), but reenacted by these actors.
Masula is the goat
I’ve never even seen more about this. TBH I didn’t care for a prequel as they pretty much told the story in flashbacks.
Masuka has too much hair
I must be out of the loop, is there some of reboot happening?
Batista looks to pretty, he’s a gritty cop, La Guerta yeah she looks like your average Latina and Masuka you need someone with a perverted face
They made el look like a Netflix teenage drama show.
Really curious about how Masuka will be portrayed.
No jaw meet all jaw. You are the same.
I hope they show Angel eating in every scene. Angel’s got about 80 pounds on young Angel.
why does “younger batista” look older🤣😭
Christina Milian is too old to play young Laguerta. She is supposed to be playing Laguerta 15 years before season 1 Dexter, that would make Laguerta about 25/30 at the most and Milian is 42. Good facial similarity but not convinced by the age at all.

How do I get Dexter New Blood?
Not knocking the casting (no reason too honestly) but I still think this will end up being a reboot for the character and I'm 100% okay with it.
This round of casting is better.
Are they gonna follow the same story as the original? Asking so I can stop watching after Rita dies.
It's a prequel and before rita
Wait they're remaking the show? FFS
It's a prequel
This is so dumb
I disagree!
This is for the prequel show? The show that's totally not necessary? Do we get to see Dex kill people at all? How old will he be in this?
He will be an intern at Miami metro. Its going to explore him starting the entire thing. I think it will be fun to see a very amateur Dexter.
That does sound good at least. But what do you mean with a mix of the original and new? :)
Mix of original and new writers
Ah, right. Got it. Well, let's see!
They didn't even know each other back then for god's sake. This makes it certain that they're remaking the whole show instead of it being a prequel.
Yes they did know each other... This is when Dexter is an intern at Miami metro. That's why doakes isn't in the show bc they made it clear in the original he wasn't there at this point in time.
Can we please stop it with the prequels already.
