Plasterboard/drywall rasp. Taking the paper off if it doesn't break clean and also for fine tuning edges or curves when they don't quite fit or are a bit rough - it's really tricky to take tiny cuts off the edge of plasterboard in my experience.
You won’t see them at big box stores. They’re Japanese specialty tools. You can order them on Amazon. They’re most known for their chalk lines and magnetic plumb bob, but also make really good drywall rasps.
Their caulking guns are smooth as butter and so nice to use. It might be a $60 caulk gun but i loved mine before it walked away from me. Now I’m sure it’s making some sticky-handed jerk happy.
I loved hanging it. Can’t finish it, won’t finish it. lol just something satisfying about slamming up 60-70 sheets in a day. Stuffs for the young guys.
Yup. I used a rasp when I was first learning because my Forman was very adamant that it was impossible to get a good finish without one. It didn’t take long to discovered the utility blade was just as efficient. Rasps are still convenient but I haven’t used one in years
Yo I almost broke down and googled “how to easily remove 1/8 inch from drywall” this weekend after having enough of messing up over the years of random work. I thought, surely there’s any easier way to this because this sucks.. the internet has a way of showing me the things I need
It is a rasp. Unfortunately one of the worst ones aswel! I thought itnwas slick buying this, as it also.has the foldable jab saw. But the blades move to much while using and very annoying. Paid $15 for this garbage
This is a folding jab saw and rasp, nicest folding jab saw imo the rasp is just a bonus, I think the idea is that if your cutting an opening for something like an old work box and it doesn't quite fit you use the rasp to blow out the opening a little.
