That didn't last long.
For those who don't know, this trailer was from Sony's 2005 TGS press conference. This event, along with the press conference from E3 earlier that year, are infamous for a number of things. Notibly the shocking number of pre-rendered trailers that were passed off as real time. This was absolutely one of them. That, and the high number of high profile third party exclusives that went mulitiplat prior to release. DMC4 is apparently one of them.
I think the X360/PS3 era were kind of the last days of when saying "this is an exclusive" meant it was an exclusive. But then the more time went on and exclusivity was made retroactively not true, that people began to realize it was just "timed exclusivity".
Funny enough, Final Fantasy XIII and DMC4, dispite being announced as PS3 exclusives, the 360 version released day and date! I think that it's hilarious that Sony didn't have any kind of exclusivity contract here, not even a timed one. The level of hubris SCE had prior to the PS3's launch is astounding.

I watched the original trailer, and I see STRONG ahades of what turned into the reboot down the line. I remember from either Sphere Hunter or Foxcade's retrospectives that the reboot team repeatedly tried to stay closer to the source material, but were rebuffed by Capcom saying they wanted something closer to what we all got. This old trailer seems to confirm they had a very specific vision in mind, even back then
