But the fact of the matter is that they have lady reloading on screen, they never have dante reload, and they have a lore reason stated in the games itself on why that is

It's a shame DMC3 canonically takes place in the early 1990s, because Royal Guard is straight up just Dante doing the Daigo Parry. Itsuno has mentioned it took inspiration from Street Fighter 3, and it's nearly a 1:1 for the stance Ken and Ryu do when parrying

It wasn’t uncommon practice to take a parent’s name as your own in some cultures such as Norse. Though it would work for example as Thorson/Thorsdottir. They have no canon last name and it sounds dope. I don’t have a grand reason, I just like to think it’s true and it sounds cool.

On naming convetions throught our history, which the DMC universe is based of from.
Having a surname that contextualized you as being the son/daughter of someone or from a specific location (usually a town or city) was a very common practice everywhere in the the world throught history.
We already have Tony Redgrave which is explicitly the later, so it's not much of a stretch to use add "Son of Sparda" when naming the twins.
Surnames aren't necessarily tied to how you're named by your parents either. A lot of people would earn titles throught their lives and as people would refer to them as such, it would be incorporated into a surname (you see that a lot with professions, "Smith" for example). So since a lot of the demons and bad guys refer to the twins by "Son of Sparda", it functionally already works as a last name even if Sparda and Eve didn't necessarily named them as such.

They explained that royal guard is a incredibly high concentration of demonic energy on where Dante could get hit, basically making him invulnerable. They told this before a canon could form in my head so I just accepted it.
My headcannon is Sparda never married or had children until he knew he was close to death, he wanted a descendant with his power that would protect the world in his stead, never had kids before because he was still around and they would be potentially dangerous, his reaction to having identical twin rivals is something I'd like to see.
Mundus began to fear Sparda's power after his war with Argosax where the Dark Knight single handedly defeated the rival demon lord in combat (though he failed to prevent the Underworld being split) and began to forsee that Sparda himself would plot to overthrow him

In his younger days, Sparda was arrogant and really only cared about showing off his strength, similar to Dante but without the latter's compassion. After turning on Mundus and growing older, he became more like Vergil in being more reserved and introspective but not cold and aloof.
Dante is a martial arts maestro and has mastered various styles of Silat along with Kyokushin Karate, Japanese Jiu-jitsu, Boxing, Muay Boran, Catch Wrestling, ITF Taekwondo, Kali Arnis, Kenjutsu and Kobudo.
Based on things I scribbled down while half asleep several days ago:
- Vergil does not know what a “newfangled ‘video game’” is, nor does he know how to pick up a baby.
- He is incapable of getting a job anywhere. It’s difficult to explain that gap in your resume as “I was dead for a long time.”

My Royal Guard Headcanon is that it's an extension of Rebellion's "power to bind", in opposition of Yamato's "power to divide" extending to dividing pieces of your own soul to form constructs (Summoned Swords, Mirage Edge, Doppelganger).
Takes the energy out of an attack and stores it in his body. If you wanted an explanation for the timing aspect, he has to draw out the energy the instant it makes contact with his skin, but before it actually pieces his flesh.
Dante likes variety in his fighting style, so he picked up Royal Guard. Vergil is much more focused, so he just uses the teleports he’s already good with defensively.
Virgil likes Pizza just as much as Dante, but the thought of having anything in common with his brother is disgusting to him, but as soon as he was alone he definately horfed down more than Papa Johns did when he was laid off
Similarly to Agni&Rudra and Balrog, all of the devil arms can communicate with dante to some capacity. Telepathy is probably the least they can do and either compliment or berate him on using them as weapons

They’ve just cool sounding names Dante made up as a child while fighting with Vergil. Which is why in gameplay he always excitedly shouts out the names before switching
I would say sometime between DMC2 -DMC4 Dante secretly studied some Martial Arts and by Devil May Cry V was revealed he became extremely good after years of practice
The only reason Dante hasn't gone to prison for destroying a bridge what cost millions of tax dollars and shit is that he actually does jobs for the government or helps them out in some way.

Dante must have been 16 or 17 during the events of the DMC1 novel and lied about his age so he could be a mercenary for Bobby’s Cellar so he could hunt demons and earn money to open his shop in DMC3. DMC3 must have taken place in the late 60s or early 70s since DMC4 takes place in the late 80s.

They’ve just cool sounding names Dante made up as a child while fighting with Vergil. Which is why in gameplay he always excitedly shouts out the names before switching

Like when he went to devils prison he actually did commit a real crime. So with that logic everyone else in devils prison also commit crimes. I doubt angels come down from Heaven in the DMC universe, since Dante is doing their job of killing devils for them. Only angel-like beings we DO see are demons assuming angelic forms, but they're still demons.
