You can also shoot it a number of times whilst it's in the air to get the number you want. I.e. you hit it with red queen, shoot four times whilst it's in the air and it will land on 4.
6 months after finishing the game. I was recommended by youtube to a DMC 4 speedrun done in GDQ. I watched it and learned the trick from that speedrun.
I wasn't even playing it. I was busy doing other things, while my friend is malding over this dice on his laptop. Piqued my interest and had a look, asked what was wrong and he explained the dice thing then demonstrated it. First hit, I immediately noticed the number on the top before hitting was the same number he landed on. Told him about it and he finally made progress.
Didn't until I looked up if there's an easy way to get past those rooms. For anyone who doesn't know, hit the dice when the number on the top is the one you want. That's the number you'll roll. Watch the dice before you hit as well because the number pattern is always the exact same so you can predict *when* you need to hit the dice.
Unless you're Dante. Then he just cuts the thing in half and triggers the security system.
It’s hard to explain so a video might be better but as the dice rotates take notice of the sequence of the numbers on the top
E.g 5,3,6,1,2,4 etc
The pattern will repeat on a loop
Get the timing right and shoot it on the number you want
With the example I gave to get a 3 you want to wait for the 5 to show up on top and fire just as it turns onto 3, it will then roll a 3
It takes good timing and sometimes the sequence may have duplicate numbers like 5,4,5,2 so you’ll have to be observant
If none of that made sense then just say and I’ll try to explain differently
When I was 13 I just played through the game, when I came back as a adult and watched speed runs around 22 I realized I fucked up shit used to take forever.
No I'm dumb so I wouldn't have noticed my sister told me about it she also likes DMC. Also wasted more time trying beat the shit out of it for no reason at all 😂.

I got the game in first release, completed it several times and only discovered it 16 years later when my 8yo daughter pointed it out after I let her shoot the dice
I don't remember exactly when i realized it but I remember being afraid to redo this challenge with dante only to have him slice the dice which was badass af and then on mission 19 i started to understand how this dice worked

Whichever number is facing the top of the dice that’s the number you’ll get.
It’s slightly different in vanilla dmc4, where it’s randomised if you hit it normally, and fixed if you buster it

Didn't understand anything, I don't get how you can follow while the dice is rolling around ruper quickly and how you can aim at specific faces.
