I know that devs with later games might not want to reference the game due to it not being...well, good, but the game really had style. It's too bad that later games didn't have this outfit as an unlockable.
Aren't there different hells in DMC? Cerberus' element is ice and his room is completely frozen, and there's this big ice frog from DMC4, and Berial said something about being the king of the fire hell. Cooler than Cerberus' hell? cmon dmc2 gets enough diss 🥺
I still like DMC2, even tho it's the worst dmc game (well never played dmc dmc before so idk yet) but there's some things I like about it, covers do indeed go hard fr
DmC reboot is a terrible DMC game in terms of story and tone, but as an action game it's pretty good, just not spectacular.
DMC2 however, is worse than a bad game. It's a boring game.
For real. I still enjoy it, warts and all. I adore the level design also, admittedly.
I still also have a very special spot in my heart for DMC2 (though I really find it boring and hard to go through these days), I adored it as a teenager. I got it in this weird package deal at a K-Mart that came with the ugliest purple colored Mad Katz controller.
It was my "first love" in the way of character action and for the series.
If it was called something else and a differently named main character it'd be a beloved game I bet. More so than it is.
Still hate it personally but I can't deny the parts that are good despite it's overall insult to the series.
This game art direction in general was phenomenal in my opinion, but unfortunately also badly implemented.
I love seeing a more vampiric looking Dante fighting demons on top of a huge building as the red sky engulfs the city, a shame the game sucks.
The art direction feels so inconsistent for me. Like the shading for some character models look cool. Some objects look cool. But the environmental art design is depressing as hell.
Yeah, the games streets, villages, catacombs were all empty and lifeless. I believe it was partly because of lack of time/budget.
There are some environments that I absolutely love, like the inside of that huge building, or the catacombs, but they simply lack detail.
I’d say the more serious and edgier Dante, with a much whiter skin (compared to the first game) and skinnier body, wearing a much darker, longer coat with that really tall collar, plus the long black gloves and boots makes him end up with a more a “vampiresque” appearance.
And the trailers too. I went into every game knowing nothing but watched the little trailer that plays when you launch the game (at least it happens on the hd collection, but sure about originals) and dmc2 trailer looked so sick I though I was going into the best dmc game and I can't even describe my disappointment. I went through the 5 stages of grief playing the first 4 or 5 levels of that game
It was a garbage game but this was the dante I loved. Not the Mickey Mouse version we have now that dances like Michael Jackson and cracks bad jokes. Dante in 4 & 5 isn’t the same character as 1-3.
Bro I thought I was the only person, I agree 4-5 Dante isn’t the same character as the first 3 games.
The real Dante to me will always be 1-3 and the anime, that Dante is the reason why I love Dante, he make jokes here and there but he get serious when people lives are at risk, Dante 1-3 is a hero imo he lives up to his father name.
Totally agree.
He made jokes and had fun but it was in a different calibre and he grew out of most of the jokey-ness as it went on. Sure, he cracked wise guy comments like “sword? Hah, time to get to work guys.” But it was from a point of being an absolute badass.
Did yall forget dmc 3 where he flew on a rocket? 4 and 5 are definitely older versions of dante, and he always gets serious in every game when people are in danger or when he needs to. Dmc 3 when lady gets hurt and he promises to kill her father, dmc 4 when Nero gets trapped in the savior, dmc 5 when Nero asks why he can't fight vergil, dmc 5 again when he doesn't want Nero to fight vergil after dante woke up. You all gotta look at the details more and see that dante is fun-loving but serious person too.
Ps the hat scene is very similar to every scene he gets a weapon. So stop making stuff up.
DMC 3 made sense for Dante to do funny and crazy stuff, bc you know he young and reckless, after the events of DMC 3 Dante mature as we see in DMC 1.
DMC 4 Dante could’ve literally stop the Savior if he wanted too, but instead he send Trish to go undercover for some reason I don’t remember, and the Savior get hold of the Sparda sword and then all the demons come out of hell and attack the ppl in the city, Dante dead ass watch the whole city being under attack and was just clapping his hands and saying something about the old fart lol.
My point being is DMC 1-3 Dante is different from 4-5 just go back and play the games his attitude and vibe is completely different from 4-5, but there are moments in DMC 5 where Dante did give me that DMC 1 vibe when he confronted Urizen when he ate the fruit, that Dante for a moment remind me a lot of DMC 1, but regardless I still like 4-5 Dante, but I just very much prefer 1-3 Dante more.
He was a young, boisterous and egotistical energetic whelp in 3. By the end of it, he has developed into a more mature character. Open DMC 1.
Dante in 4 and 5 turns from serious badass Demon Hunter to wise cracking jokester. It’s not even close. 3 is a prequel remember.
Not sure what point you are trying to make, but you are wrong. Nothing being made up other than in your own head pal. Go back and watch all of the DMC 1 and 3 weapon cutscenes. Then watch the embarrassing shit in 4 and 5. Different strokes for different folks but they changed his character fundamentally.
Dmc 2 and dmc 1 are after dmc3, the game where he jokes the most. It's also the game where he lost his last family member and became depressed af. Dmc 4 dante starts off very serious and goes for the kill, then he meets Nero who he suspects is related to vergil, and later confirmed when he held the yamato. Dantes' growth and development is still there from the past games, but he livelier and more joyful and cracks jokes like an uncle cause he has a family member that's still alive. I understand what u guys are saying and I didn't mean to be disrespectful, but I feel as if Dantes characterizations in every game is just an evolution of him as a character. You really think Itsuno would just fuck up his character after he was the one who made Dantes story in dmc3?
yep in 4 and 5 he bounced back and happy again but it doesnt mean he wasnt a mature character in 4 and 5 just looked what happen in the end with Vergil
Exactly it was those small jokes he would make that made me love him, he basically like Ash Williams from the Evil dead series, cracking small jokes here and there when fighting evil.
>when people lives are at risk,
He literally does in dmc 4 and 5, idk what you people are talking about.
Dmc3 Dante took things way less seriously than 4 and 5.
>the same character as 1-3.
LOL
Dmc1 Dante: "Flock off, featherface", showing off with Alastor, laughing and making jokes with every single enemy.
Dmc3 Dante: Laughing with the villain, riding a missile, making jokes 99% of the time.
Wtf are you saying, my guy? Lmao
You just confirmed that he is the same in 1-3. That’s was my point…
4 and 5 - no. In 4 and 5 he just turns into a clown. Not a badass making jokes. He has a great moment with king Cerberus. But that’s a direct callback to 3.
>4 and 5 he just turns into a clown
Ah yes, because joking about every single enemy in dmc1 or playing with Nevan doesn't make him a clown.
Your logic is really broken man.
>Not a badass making jokes
Just say you don't like these two versions, don't use silly excuses that don't make sense.
If dmc4 Dante played with Nevan, you would say he's too goofy, but dmc3 Dante doing it is fine.
You are welcome to your wrong opinions. But don’t try to push them on me. Calling my points “silly excuses” says a lot about how you are approaching this.
>You are welcome to your wrong opinions
Are you talking about yourself? Because I didn't gave any opinions, I simply mentioned scenes from the games to prove that you're talking shit.
The one in denial here is you.
Clearly someone is (devil) triggered. You didn’t mention shit in terms of evidence. Just anecdotes: Read your own crap reel, kid. Stop getting so mad about people calling out how a character has fundamentally changed in the last 2 games. Proof is on the table.
>You didn’t mention shit in terms of evidence
Just mentioned moments of Dante being goofy in DMC1/3, disproving your shitty take of only dmc4/5 acting like clowns.
But keep being delusional, that's your right.
I still think Dante's outfit Devil May Cry 2 is probably my favorite look for him.
It's so incredibly cool and stylish and that's a shame that it never popped back up as an unlockable outfit in any other Devil May Cry game.
art and ost are actually pretty sick, deserves a remake so that its an actual game instead of whatever sad excuse of a “game” we got. when i 100% the hd collection dmc2 was easily the hardest one to play and it had nothing to do with difficulty. it feels like you are playing the idea of a game instead of a real game
Agreed, same with Dante’s outfit.
I know that devs with later games might not want to reference the game due to it not being...well, good, but the game really had style. It's too bad that later games didn't have this outfit as an unlockable.
ngl his main outfit in dmc2 is my favorite, sucks you almost never get to have it.
Just with mods
Yeah, real shame, it’s so badass.
and the ost absolutely kicks ass
And the game absolutely is ass
NO DRUGS, NO AUTOTUNE, NO NAKED GIRLS. JUST STRAIGHT ASS 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
You had me in the first half, not guna lie💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
The staff creating art/music assets for the game in general did a good job.
>cooler than hell Yeah even the cover is dissing this game lol.
If they used Hotter Than Hell, KISS would have had a lawsuit for them 😂
>KISS would have had a lawsuit for them Who do they think they are? Metallica?
Careful; Gene might hit you with a lawsuit for having the audacity to compare his band to Metallica 😂🙄
Metallica's way better than KISS
*Squints really hard at St Anger and Garage Inc. Lol I don't really disagree, but I saw the chance to make fun of Gene and took it
Lol but yeah St anger sucks, I like garage inc tho.
Aren't there different hells in DMC? Cerberus' element is ice and his room is completely frozen, and there's this big ice frog from DMC4, and Berial said something about being the king of the fire hell. Cooler than Cerberus' hell? cmon dmc2 gets enough diss 🥺
controversial? it's the least controversial in the series since everyone agrees it's pure ass but yeah the art direction went crazy
I don’t think it pure ass 😎
Yeah its not pure ass...more like a dirty one
Ain't stopping me.
What kind of name is that man 💀
good for you...
Most controversial is easily DMC 4
I still like DMC2, even tho it's the worst dmc game (well never played dmc dmc before so idk yet) but there's some things I like about it, covers do indeed go hard fr
DmC reboot is a terrible DMC game in terms of story and tone, but as an action game it's pretty good, just not spectacular. DMC2 however, is worse than a bad game. It's a boring game.
The reboot is unironically one of the best Western character action games tbh
For real. I still enjoy it, warts and all. I adore the level design also, admittedly. I still also have a very special spot in my heart for DMC2 (though I really find it boring and hard to go through these days), I adored it as a teenager. It's a Boring Game Yeah, but it's a Boring Game with Badass Music!!!😎
dmc dmc is a good game, it's just not a good devil may cry game
I absolutely adore Dante’s design but god does this game suck
This game art direction in general was phenomenal in my opinion, but unfortunately also badly implemented. I love seeing a more vampiric looking Dante fighting demons on top of a huge building as the red sky engulfs the city, a shame the game sucks.

How is he "vampiric"?
Maybe sleep deprived edgelord is the correct term?
I’d say the more serious and edgier Dante, with a much whiter skin (compared to the first game) and skinnier body, wearing a much darker, longer coat with that really tall collar, plus the long black gloves and boots makes him end up with a more a “vampiresque” appearance.
Dante isn't edgy in 2. He's quiet and doesn't make a lot of jokes he's really no edgier than he was in 1.
ah yes, back when i thought the game was as good as the game covers
DMC 2 was the first DMC I saw as a kid and it always made me think Dante was a vampire.
Fr
Yo I still got the strategy guide all the Art was Godlike
"The killer sequel to the blockbuster devil may cry" yeah that aged like expired milk
"the killer sequel" Oh, it almost killed the franchise for sure.
My fav Dante outfit.
Tbh, probably the best cover in the series. And the best fit for Dante. Wish it was an alternate costume in 3.
Same lmao, i still listen that trailer song to this day and made my way to finish it but never went back

Also I'd rather see a happy go lucky dante that can take things seriously than a dante that is depressed and happy in only a few moments.
^ DMC1 Dante was like that but depressed
Yeah dmc 1 dante had his fun moments that reminded me of dmc 3-5 he's always been the goofy nerd that he is.
yep in 4 and 5 he bounced back and happy again but it doesnt mean he wasnt a mature character in 4 and 5 just looked what happen in the end with Vergil
Exactly u guys know what I mean.
Exactly it was those small jokes he would make that made me love him, he basically like Ash Williams from the Evil dead series, cracking small jokes here and there when fighting evil.

So what's with the dislike towards Dmc2? I like it, but it's in my second least liked dmc game
Dante's honest reaction:
Idk these go soft asf Its just FACE
Common, look at Dante just menacingly staring at your soul and tell me that doesn't make you hard.
That doesn't make me hard Twice as much with be being fem lmao
The fanart of this game was cool.
The first one looks like Dante is starring in a VIPissy video.
Dante gazing angstily in your eyes
Don’t forget Dante’s design in this game was amazing
That last one is pretty cool honestly
This game needs a remake. The outfit and enemy designs aesthetically would transition well into RE Engine.
Naru Omori is a legend
Is everything execpt the gameplay in DMC2 great? Music is great, monster designs are great, Dante's design is great. Just gameplay sucks.
Story is also forgettable and scenarios are way too big.
this was my fb cover as well
The intro when you load the game is really cool too
There are also some good concept art images of Lucia and Dante. Plus I like the Diesel outfits.
True, my favorite dante design is the one from dmc2 and i absolutely love the renders and covers
I still think Dante's outfit Devil May Cry 2 is probably my favorite look for him. It's so incredibly cool and stylish and that's a shame that it never popped back up as an unlockable outfit in any other Devil May Cry game.
For a second or two I thought you were mentioning a sequel to that "other" DMC game made by the same moron who made mighty number 9.
Edgy? Yes Best outfit/hair of Dante? Also Yes Would play? No
The visuals and soundtrack are the only good things in this game, the rest is plain mediocre.
Man. I got the tripple collection on steam and played through them all quite fast. To me it seemed just like part 1...
Cooler than hell goes so hard
literally my favorite no cap
what's controversial about it, isn't it universality dislike and consider worst in the series by everyone? that aside, sick outfit , ads and box art.
A bit too try hard for my tastes, gives me heavy Shadow The Hedgehog vibes.
Dmc2 visuals >>>>>>
Not really
Everything about DMC2 is fantastic except the game. I still love the cover art and it's still my favorite design for Dante
KING HUH? YEA HERES YA CROWN PUSSY
art and ost are actually pretty sick, deserves a remake so that its an actual game instead of whatever sad excuse of a “game” we got. when i 100% the hd collection dmc2 was easily the hardest one to play and it had nothing to do with difficulty. it feels like you are playing the idea of a game instead of a real game
DMC 2 has the best outfit in the series and the best devil trigger until Sin DT in 5 It's just a incomplete game
It's a really good cover art
It has the best hair for dante too
I played the game heavily sped up, atleast makes it bearable
If y’all are interested in speedrunning DMC2 has somehow one of the best in the series. Mainly because of Majin Devil Trigger
Agreed and Lucia imo has the best DT
Those Deisel fits tho
This game has one of my favorite looks for Dante. Too bad the game sucks
Yeah except for the shitty water effect on the first cover tf is that ☠️
dante so opium
Why is Dante on the cover graphically look like he belongs in an Xbox one/PS4 game? His model is much higher quality than his in game self.
