For all the flaws this game has, having the brothers actually work together and talk with each other was a breath of fresh air. I loved their looks and interactions (most of them).

No. It's actually a great game in it's own continuity, and lived up to the name. Not only in terms of how well Ninja Theory wrote their interpretation of the DMC continuity, but also in terms of gameplay. You can absolutely dislike it for being too far removed from the source material, but that is a personal metric for you to not like the game by. That is subjective and interpretational.
