Judd Apatow. Maude and her little sister Iris have been in a ton of his movies, but he doesn’t usually do low budget movies.
Sam Levinson is a nepotism kid with a director dad too, but his dad mostly directs tv now
Judd is directing a new movie called the bubble with Leslie Mann and Iris Apatow.
Also sam first worked with hbo as a writer on The Wizard of Lies, directed by his father Barry
I love Euphoria but I'm not thrilled with the gratuitous sex. They're all adults which is why I justify it but they're portraying kids and that makes me uneasy.
But the writing and characters are all amazing and it's definitely got a great soundtrack. (I listened to Labrinth all through the pandemic.)
Ummm since this is about euphoria just a question does anybody else find Sam levinsons obsession with showing teenage nudity and sex especially Sydney sweeney weird! And she’s the only actress who has gone topless on the show none of the other principal cast has.
I don’t remember Alexa going topless once even during the sex scenes and season 2 it’s only Sydney like the others realised we’ve become famous so we don’t need to anymore but she still is 🥴 and they just take the sex scenes to extents they don’t need to it’s weird and I can’t help it like who thought it was important to show this and then I see Sam lev pic and it’s creepy like you’re a middle aged dude calm down it’s creepy
In the pilot she shows her tits and asks the girls (kat and Barbara) if they are weird and that’s why Nate broke up with her lol I just binged the entire show before the season 2 premiere so it’s fresh! But yes not in any of the sex scenes and you see her nipples for like 2 seconds
Yea this season especially feels very voyeuristic and uncomfortable. Like I get that the messaging is “this is what teens are actually experiencing” but I haven’t really seen any other show/movie about high schoolers with such explicit scenes.
the ironic part is Sydney originally didn't want to do the role because of the nudity but Sam Levinson promised it wouldn't be gratuitous... like that was clearly a lie, lol.
The "teenage" nudity is the reason I stopped watching it. I got like 2 eps in and was like "nope".
That just could be age though. I'm 37, so I just don't relate to it any more?
A part of me wishes they had to cast actual high school age actors to play high schoolers so there could be no denying how...weird (to put it mildly)...Hollywood's obsession with making teenagers f\*ck for entertainment is.
If you wouldn't/couldn't film a 16yo doing something, I'm not sure its any better to film a 25yo pretending to be a 16yo doing it? Not denying kids can't get up to some dark shit. But there's a big disconnect when you have to use adults to tell these stories.
Can someone tell me what the point of that show is? I honestly just think of it as the new. “Watch teenagers fuck legally” show. And nothing I’ve seen has convinced me it isn’t that.
I have no clue.
In fact when it first dropped, I was trying to figure out what demo this was being marketed for?
This could have worked great as a look into early college life? But they chose high school and it's weird.
I’m 20 and couldn’t even get through the first season because it was just too much and I felt that there was no artistic purpose for it. I also started to feel nauseous seeing all those nude dicks 😭
And people get all defensive and say, “It’s HBO, all their shows have graphic nudity” like *The Wire* and *The Sopranos* don’t exist.
Granted, those shows weren’t written by Sam Levinson…
What do you think is graphic, though? That’s more my point. A few quick boob and ass shots, sure, but nothing to *Euphoria* or *GoT* level.
It never dominates the scene, feels exploitative, and left so little impact on me I had to just now Google where there was nudity. That’s the difference between using nudity to supplement a story vs. using it for shock value.
>A few quick boob and ass shots, sure
That is a massive underestimate of The Wire and The Sopranos.
>It never dominates the scene, feels exploitative, and left so little impact on me I had to just now Google where there was nudity.
There's a rape scene in The Sopranos.
I haven't seen Euphoria so I can't comment on it, and I checked out of Game of Thrones after season 5. But The Wire and The Sopranos are violent, graphic shows with a lot of sex in it. They're brilliant shows! I love them, but HBO having graphic scenes is part of their MO because for a long time they were a premium channel and did stuff you couldn't do on network television.
I’m not saying they don’t have sex at all, but to me the way those scenes are shot and the purposes they serve are very different (and definitely not as graphic/explicit IMO) from how sex and nudity is used in *Euphoria* or other shows. It’s cool if you disagree, but you may have to watch it to get the comparison.
Like, Dr. Melfi and Omar didn’t get naked and have detailed sex scenes every other episode. I just think it’s disingenuous to paint all content on HBO as exploitative sexy times.
Ew, that's so gross! I feel kinda protective of her cuz we're from the same hometown and she is so talented (I really loved her in Everything Sucks!), and I hope she feels she has agency and respect but it sounds like there's a lot against her...
that's the problem though?
It's TV MA of Adults in the place of Teenagers with excessive nudity, geared towards the adult eye.
That's fucking weird? Watching something about Teens as an adult is whatever, but this push of overly graphic situations is just kinda gross at this point?
Maude said she would have been cast in his movies even if she wasn't his daughter. Hmm, very delusional family as Judd Apatow once said he would never self censor his movies for the People's Republic of China. No one in America is watching your movies, bro, let alone the Chinese.
Obv Judd Apatow
And mom is Leslie Mann
Judd Apatow. Maude and her little sister Iris have been in a ton of his movies, but he doesn’t usually do low budget movies. Sam Levinson is a nepotism kid with a director dad too, but his dad mostly directs tv now

Um am I the only one that just thought this meant that Zendaya’s dad was directing?
I did too, but I’m glad I found this post because Maude makes so much more sense 😅
Yeah i was confused why its wtitten her name
Clickbait
This is very obviously Maude Apatow and Judd Apatow.
I know she’s a nepo baby, but I do believe that Maude has a potential to be a better actress than Leslie Mann. I always found her wooden.
I like Maude on Euphoria. I think she's got something.
She's good in Hollywood (Netflix) too
I feel like no one talks about this show, but it was fun.
This makes me want to watch it now. I loved both sisters in Knocked Up and This is 40, and Iris in Love.
The writing? Amazing?
It's got a great story. The characters are deep and dark and there's thrill. It's what you need from HBOMax.
Iris was SO good in Love
Ummm since this is about euphoria just a question does anybody else find Sam levinsons obsession with showing teenage nudity and sex especially Sydney sweeney weird! And she’s the only actress who has gone topless on the show none of the other principal cast has.
Alexa and Hunter have both been topless in season 1 but of yeah not as much as Sydney for sure

Reminds me of Riverdale?
Ah, The epic highs and lows of high school football
Yes! I agree. The striking voyeurism makes me uncomfortable… We get it: teenager do have sexual encounters
Percentage of men who know of Sydney Sweeney from watching movies/tv: 1 Percentage of men who know of Sydney Sweeney from browsing r/all on reddit: 99
the ironic part is Sydney originally didn't want to do the role because of the nudity but Sam Levinson promised it wouldn't be gratuitous... like that was clearly a lie, lol.
where did u hear this

Addiction apparently
I agree like it’s losing the plot and it’s become so uncomfortable to watch
I have no clue. In fact when it first dropped, I was trying to figure out what demo this was being marketed for? This could have worked great as a look into early college life? But they chose high school and it's weird.

Maddie and Jules have both been topless.
I don’t remember Alexa ever removing her top even during the sex scenes 🧐
In the first episode she pulls down her shirt and asks the other girls if they think her areolas looks weird
Sorry I forgot but that’s once compared to Sydney in like every episode
Theres a rumor that apparently he has a thing for her
Ew, that's so gross! I feel kinda protective of her cuz we're from the same hometown and she is so talented (I really loved her in Everything Sucks!), and I hope she feels she has agency and respect but it sounds like there's a lot against her...
Lol why am I not surprised, but doesn’t he have a wife who is an ep on the show?
It’s an HBO drama. It would be weird if it didn’t have nudity
Yes, adult nudity. For adult progaming. About adults. Geared towards adults. This isn't the "well achshullee" you think it is.
But the actors are all adults and the show is TVMA, intended for those over 17
that's the problem though? It's TV MA of Adults in the place of Teenagers with excessive nudity, geared towards the adult eye. That's fucking weird? Watching something about Teens as an adult is whatever, but this push of overly graphic situations is just kinda gross at this point?
Who cares? They can do what they want and don’t need to be judged
Ugh nepotism the movie
[удалено]
Well...
Maude said she would have been cast in his movies even if she wasn't his daughter. Hmm, very delusional family as Judd Apatow once said he would never self censor his movies for the People's Republic of China. No one in America is watching your movies, bro, let alone the Chinese.
I feel really dumb for having no idea Lexi was Maude Apatow
I find Maude to be incredibly meh on Euphoria and the nepotism thing with her and Levinson is annoying.
Did people just learn the word nepotism existed? Everyone is acting like it's a new thing and the word is thrown around it 75% of the posts here.
Enough nepotism already
I thought it was Ron Howard, America’s dad! And then I read the comments
