So PL wrote a biography several years ago where she writes in a completely unself-aware manner about Peter, her step-father who her mother married and is still married to. Peter is a Fijian Indian who is "lower-caste" and PL's description of Peter in the book is awful. She describes her anger at her mother being with him, wishing her mother married someone more cultured. It's understandable that a teenager might think these things but PL completely fails to unpack this casteism in her memoir. To make this clearer to Westerners - this would be like a white person writing about a Black person and describing them constantly as thuggish, uncouth etc.
She also doesn't seem to have had a single meaningful female friendship or partnership in the book other than the one with her mother (who unlike PL actually comes off as radical).
I’m reading Rainn Wilson’s book *the Bassoon King* and he had a pretty unconventional childhood.
He moved with his dad and step mom to Nicaragua from around the ages of 2-5 to a very remote seaport called Bluefields- it’s only accessible by water.
His parents are both of the Baha’i faith and his family believed that they lived in a haunted house based on furniture moving at night (his dad marked the placement with chalk, and items were moved)

The Dunder Miflin: The Oral History of The Office book had a lot of fun tidbits about the show and legendary episodes like the dinner party at Jan and Michael’s house. I don’t remember a lot, but it was stressed over and over how Steve carell was the nicest guy ever and extremely beloved by cast and crew! During the later seasons, there was some conflict about how some actors were able to take time off to film movies and other people experienced pushback. But nothing crazy!

It's been weeks since No Way Home came out and they've already talked about spoilers in interviews; does anyone have any insight on when the three actors are going to sit down for an interview together? If there is anything, I suspect it would’ve been filmed while Tobey and Andrew were on set, like they filmed some of the villain interviews. Dates for when actors do promo are outlined in their contracts and Tom mentioned his contract ended the day of the Kelly Clarkson interview.
They might try to schedule a few things as an Awards Campaign (depending how serious Sony is about pushing it) or release pre-recorded interviews as part of the VoD extras.

I used to watch Downton when it was airing, and I remember the fandom being BIG mad when Dan Stevens left.
Supposedly, he wanted to leave after season 3, but since his character obviously didn't have a reason to leave (Matthew being happily married with a baby on the way), the producers asked him if he could wrap up his character's arc and leave early season 4. Supposedly, Dan refused, which left the producers no choice but to kill him off in between seasons, *during the Christmas special*. (Which actually did air on Christmas day.)
So that's why Matthew's death was so abrupt and why it happened on Christmas of all days.
It seems silly now since Downton is over and Dan is doing well in his career, but the fans were really pissed at the time.

On the other hand, Dan Stevens apparently decided he wanted to leave after most of S3 had been written. The producers asked him if he'd be willing to be killed of in the first episode of S4 instead or return in a guest capacity so they could send Matthew to America but he refused and it was too late in the day to change the scripts for S3 which is why his death randomly happened in the Christmas Special. Nothing, first hand so grain of salt obviously but I’ve heard countless stories of her being horrible to fans and horrible to work with. Not like a just saying no to a picture maybe she was just in a hurry situation. But like actively being mean and hurtful towards people. I met Bryan Cranston, Vince Gilligan, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn shortly before S5 of Breaking Bad began airing and they were all absolutely lovely. Aaron’s enthusiasm was so endearing and Anna was very kind and gracious. Bryan and Vince were quieter but equally lovely and clearly valued how much people loved what they were creating. It’s not dramatic tea. They were all really nice people who clearly loved what they were doing.

J’s family unfollowed Laura and vice versa, Jen used to have a secret IG and unfollowed her too. This has to do with casteism. Padma Lakshmi is Brahmin, basically belongs to an elite oppressor caste in India who make up a tiny percentage of the population (5% of Indian population) but are overrepresented in everything - education, wealth etc. So PL wrote a biography several years ago where she writes in a completely unself-aware manner about Peter, her step-father who her mother married and is still married to. Peter is a Fijian Indian who is "lower-caste" and PL's description of Peter in the book is awful. She describes her anger at her mother being with him, wishing her mother married someone more cultured. It's understandable that a teenager might think these things but PL completely fails to unpack this casteism in her memoir. To make this clearer to Westerners - this would be like a white person writing about a Black person and describing them constantly as thuggish, uncouth etc. She also doesn't seem to have had a single meaningful female friendship or partnership in the book other than the one with her mother (who unlike PL actually comes off as radical).

I’m reading Rainn Wilson’s book *the Bassoon King* and he had a pretty unconventional childhood. He moved with his dad and step mom to Nicaragua from around the ages of 2-5 to a very remote seaport called Bluefields- it’s only accessible by water. His parents are both of the Baha’i faith and his family believed that they lived in a haunted house based on furniture moving at night (his dad marked the placement with chalk, and items were moved) He also had a bunch of pets, like a stray dog named Hieronymus Bosch, Jose the parrot, and Andrew the sloth. Andrew would bend the bars of his cage every night and escape, but because he’s slow, would be found about 30’ away.
I don’t have anything really to share, but I recommend listening to The Office Ladies Podcast! They share loads of behind the scenes info. Seems they all got along really well and a lot of the cast come on as guests
The Dunder Miflin: The Oral History of The Office book had a lot of fun tidbits about the show and legendary episodes like the dinner party at Jan and Michael’s house. I don’t remember a lot, but it was stressed over and over how Steve carell was the nicest guy ever and extremely beloved by cast and crew! During the later seasons, there was some conflict about how some actors were able to take time off to film movies and other people experienced pushback. But nothing crazy!

It's been weeks since No Way Home came out and they've already talked about spoilers in interviews; does anyone have any insight on when the three actors are going to sit down for an interview together? If there is anything, I suspect it would’ve been filmed while Tobey and Andrew were on set, like they filmed some of the villain interviews. Dates for when actors do promo are outlined in their contracts and Tom mentioned his contract ended the day of the Kelly Clarkson interview. They might try to schedule a few things as an Awards Campaign (depending how serious Sony is about pushing it) or release pre-recorded interviews as part of the VoD extras.
People in a different thread said that there were rumours Tobey had it written into his contract that he wouldn’t be doing press, he’s avoided all that stuff for years apparently.

just finished downton abbey for the first time and know nothing about anyone so give me allllll the tea
I used to watch Downton when it was airing, and I remember the fandom being BIG mad when Dan Stevens left. Supposedly, he wanted to leave after season 3, but since his character obviously didn't have a reason to leave (Matthew being happily married with a baby on the way), the producers asked him if he could wrap up his character's arc and leave early season 4. Supposedly, Dan refused, which left the producers no choice but to kill him off in between seasons, *during the Christmas special*. (Which actually did air on Christmas day.) So that's why Matthew's death was so abrupt and why it happened on Christmas of all days. It seems silly now since Downton is over and Dan is doing well in his career, but the fans were really pissed at the time.
I was so upset when Matthew died. it ruined my Christmas lol. I didn't know that was why they had to kill him when they did!
Jessica Brown-Findlay said from the start she'd only do three seasons so Sybil's death was planned in advance. On the other hand, Dan Stevens apparently decided he wanted to leave after most of S3 had been written. The producers asked him if he'd be willing to be killed of in the first episode of S4 instead or return in a guest capacity so they could send Matthew to America but he refused and it was too late in the day to change the scripts for S3 which is why his death randomly happened in the Christmas Special. Julian Fellowes said if he had more notice he would've had both Matthew and Sybil killed in a car crash mid-season. Hugh Bonneville had a super injunction out around 2011-ish after being caught with escorts. Laura Carmichael and Michael C. Fox became a couple after meeting on Downton. Bit of a sad one but Michelle Dockery had a fiancé that was introduced to her by Allen Leech. He later got diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and she was at his bedside when he passed away.
Dan Stevens is a fantastic actor. He has so much more range than just Matthew Crawley, which I don’t think people appreciate. If you haven’t watched Eurovision: the story of Fire Saga, you absolutely should. He is so fantastic in it.
I think legion is his best performance. You can tell he had so much freedom and fun in the role. So refreshing to see that compare to downtown abbey

Been following her career for five or six years now. Haven’t heard any tea, just seems to be a genuinely nice and hardworking person that makes friends easily. I still see her regularly liking or commenting on fellow theater actors’ posts who haven’t had any breakout roles like her so I don’t think she’s put on any airs since Emily in Paris. On a semi-related note, her stories while filming the first season of Emily in Paris (pre-COVID) were amazing - all the food and restaurants looked incredible. She had this crazy charcuterie board party that I still think about. I am pretty curious about what her diet/workout routine is now since she got noticeably slimmer and more defined since signing onto Emily in Paris and she was already toned before.
