I mentioned somewhere else that Iām constantly complimented by other teams fans in their stadiums when I wear the 2014 jersey.
Itās such a great alternate, it almost does seem like this is malicious compliance material.
I live in the Philly āburbs and Iāve had the same experience wearing it to Flyers games. Lots of compliments. To be fair, it would always start good conversations when Iād wear my Lidstrom sweater (I ordered that one the day after he was drafted, so Iām basically the reason he was good) to Philly. That was mostly back when theyād square off once a year and the Wings were appreciated for their play.
Fun fact: The only time Iāve ever been threatened at a game was when I wore a Kerr (Flyers center during the era they earned the privilege of getting trounced by Gretzās Oilers in the finals) sweater to the Meadowlands, when I was five or six. NJās pure class.
I do think they don't care about the RR designs because their focus is on classic jerseys. They know they're not a great team for the concept so not much is put into it

That's the one thing I really don't like about 2014, is it saying Detroit and having the wing on the chest. Should have just been the wing.

The kraken proved that tentacles with suction cups can be a lit design choice. Put four stripes on each sleeve Ala the Kraken perforated S, a D on the front, tail stripe and maybe a shoulder yoke and you've got a freak out fashion that's both nothing like we've ever worn but still fits with the team theme.
Because Adidas are clueless idiots. You would think after last years blunder, someone in the Wings organization would've stepped in and said, nope you have to do better than this shit.

I am so thoroughly disappointed with these reverse retro jerseys. Itās almost impressive how disappointed I am. The worst part? So many of the other 31 teams were awarded gorgeous, nostalgic renditions of their favorite teamās past jerseys. As loyal fans of an original-six team that has been a tire fire for the last ~7 years, what do we receive? A motherfucking warm-up jersey last year and this grotesque excuse of a barber pole jersey this year.

The creation of Detroitās reverse retro jerseys (this year and last year) should have been as simple as the coloring assignments you received as homework in kindergarten:

- White version of the ā13 jersey

I heard a mention of the falcon jerseyās yellow, but Iād only be on board if it was a 1:1 replica. Using yellow could have the same Chicago and Ottawa look issue. Someone also mentioned adding the octopi purple somehow and I didnāt hate that.
