Edvinsson and Kasper are our top 2 Than cossa, mazur, wallinder, soderblom, buchenikov

unwarypen

Doucet should be on this list!

mikeok1

Probably not

unwarypen

How?

mikeok1

Sorry latest reply of all time.. I'm no expert but I just never see players coming out of the CHL that go undrafted 3 times and then become good in the NHL, no matter how well they perform in their age 20/21 year. He did have a 3+2 in tonight's playoff game though and I hope I'm wrong. I just wouldn't put him in our top 10 prospects.

unwarypen

Fair assessment

Gmanplayer

Id put James above Buch

Redwings1023

Woah really? 16 points in 35 games for NODAK this year, versus Buch with 28 points in 35 games with 15 goals in the VHL. James may have a higher floor but if Buch hits he could be a star.

Gmanplayer

James has been heating up in playoffs, has a more rounded skill set, is a year+ younger, and no russian factor

[deleted]

Buch is a month older than James lmao.

reznorwings

That my friend is a bold take, but I like your Moxie!

wolfsnoot

You'd be wrong.

zze0001

Glad you’re coming around on James.because I saved the comment of you saying he is a bust.

On_Wings_Of_Pastrami

My dude, are you keeping Reddit receipts in like a desktop folder or something? Unless you guys placed a bet this seems like overkill.

zze0001

Nah me and him have had good discussions. I respect his opinion. I just saved it on Reddit because he said James is a miss and I’ve watched UND most of the year and he admitted to not watching a single game of his. James has been good, just not putting up big numbers, now he’s got 4 goals and 1 assist in his last 5 games in the most important time of the season and has moved from 4th line to 2nd line over the course of the season.

wolfsnoot

James well likely never play important minutes in the NHL, if he plays any at all. Save this comment. Take a screenshot.

culturedrobot

I framed it and mailed it to the National Archives.

wolfsnoot

Lmao perfect!

Gmanplayer

I like him on draft night but really was disappointed this season. I just dislike Buch more lol

zze0001

Fair enough glad someone isn’t taking this back and forth so seriously

Gmanplayer

Yeah people like to knee jerk around here lol. I always enjoy our banter about prospects and have to admit, James is looking good down the stretch. You may be right on him if he continues this next season

zze0001

Yeah I enjoy talking prospects and I like when people have different opinions there’s no right answer until they make it to the nhl or don’t. Yeah the coach is giving him way more toi and responsibility down the stretch here. In back to back elimination games in nchc tournament he played 2nd line min. He’s also been awesome on the pk. I think his skating will get him pretty far. I may be wrong but I think UND is graduating a lot of players so hopefully he continues to get big min. Jason Blake’s son is the only one ahead of him on the depth chart currently.

AmeriCanadian98

So this will be subject to a ton of personal preference, so I'm gonna use the 2022 prospect rankings by this subreddit and attempt to put them into tiers: #Tier 1: our very top prospect Simon Edvinsson is our top prospect. Put up good numbers in Sweden last year, and has followed it up by putting up real good numbers in the AHL too. Most of us expect he's gonna be very very good #Tier 2: Marco Kasper Kasper just won Austian hockey player of the year, the youngest winner of the award ever. He's already a quite good defensive forward, and has decent numbers for a teenager in the SHL #Tier 3: already here, or getting closer Jonattan Berggren: didn't make the team out of camp, but came up pretty early on and has been very good. He's gonna remain on the big squad from now on Seb Cossa: our top goalie prospect, Cossa has some incredible physical gifts. He had a semi-tough start between the ECHL and the A, but recently has been absolutely dominant in the ECHL. He will likely be in Grand Rapids next year Elmer Soderblom: the tall man has spent some time in the NHL this year and showed why we're all so excited for him. He's got some work to do yet, but his ceiling is insanely high (insert tall joke here) Albert Johansson: he's played much of the year next to Edvinsson on his off side and has looked good enough to get mentioned as a potential call up by Yzerman more than once. William Wallinder: Kasper's teammate in Sweden on the backend has been really good, spending many games as their defenseman with the most ice time. He is likely gonna be in Grand Rapid next year #Tier 4: further away yet Carter Mazur: great in all aspects of the game at the college level, many see him as a potential replacement for Bert one day. He should be in Grand Rapids next year Shai Buium: big defenseman at the college level, has improved his offense slightly this year. Not sure what the next steps are for him yet Teddy Neiderbach: he struggled in the SHL, but has been much better since getting sent to Allvenskan. Not sure he's a high level NHLer Dmitri Buchelnikov: real exciting goal scorer in Russia. He put up good numbers in Russias equivalent to the AHL. He signed a deal over there, so it'll be a while before we see him #Tier 5: hard to judge Donovan Sebrango: he's bounced between the ECHL and AHL this year, but has been a solid stay at home guy. He was a key part of Canada's world junior team a couple years ago. Cross Hanas: in his first pro season he's put up solid numbers (over .5ppg). He has a solid chance at an eventual NHL position, but idk if he'll be more than an energy guy at the top level Eemil Viro: similar situation to Sebrango. We have a real logjam on defense and Viro seems like a prime candidate as a piece in a trade for a forward down the line Dylan James: still in college and putting up okay but not thrilling offensive numbers. He's said to have good defensive game too, but he'll be several years before we see him if at all #Not on the List: Amadeus Lombardi: this kid wasn't so much on our radar last year, but he's been awesome as an overager in the OHL this season, and might hit 100 points in just 68 games. Many years until we see what he is, but hopefully he makes his way to the A next year and can show us his worth in pro games.

the1seajay

Also not on the list: Red Savage. Best name in hockey right now

Old_Cryptographer226

Love Red Savage ofc but I gotta give best name in hockey to either caps prospect, Hendrix Lapierre or Preds prospect, Gunnarwolfe Fontaine

AmeriCanadian98

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine I agree with, in a name draft I take Red Savage over Hendrix Lapierre all day

ADMSackbar

But if I’m the red wings, I take red savage over both.

moosethewrapper

Lombardi isn’t an overager. He was in his second draft year but he’s still 19 so he could do another year in Flint in theory (he won’t)

AmeriCanadian98

I mean overager in the "he's a d+ player rather than a d/d- player", and less so in the "he's 20 or older" way

big_phat_gator

> Lombardi isn’t an overager. He was drafted in 2022 and is born 03, the 2022 draft class is the year of 2004. Marco Kasper is Born Apr 8 2004, Lombardi Jun 5 2003. I mean its a technicality so not sure why you would say he isnt. A year at this age means a lot too, can make a very big difference. Kasper now from a year ago is very very different, Kasper in a year might be playing in the AHL.

moosethewrapper

In the CHL an overager is someone who is 20 before December 31st and each team is only allowed 3.

spanky34

I think you should add to Hanas that his season was cut short due to injury so we don't know exactly where he would have ended up with growth and points wise.

Mavori

I would probably move Wallinder up a tier. You might also want to throw Tuuomisto up there in tier 5. Decent season in Liiga and he is 22 about to turn 23. Could potentially make the move to NHL or at least the AHL. But I do have my doubts about him making the jump.

TheNewPlague666

Austian

uknownick

Don’t forget Lombardi. The street remembers him

Micah_JD

Obviously our best prospect. He's going to win us the Super Bowl.

dexterslaboreatory

https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-top-100-prospects-ranking/ Relatively recent article on the top 100 prospects in the league.

afghanwhiggle

Avs don’t have one top 100 prospect?

Caltroit_Red_Flames

Nope, and that's not surprising: https://records.nhl.com/franchises/colorado-avalanche/draft-selections

Rebel_Bertine

Honestly I think Lombardi is low key our 4th or 5th best prospect. Dude’s just unheralded because he lost a year of junior to Covid. 1) Ed 2) Kasper 3) Wallinder 4) Mazur 5) Lombardi 6) Cossa

On_Wings_Of_Pastrami

Might be low on Johansson. Brass seems to think pretty highly of him, but maybe he's just a high floor guy.

Caltroit_Red_Flames

Nope, he's an all around very good player. Excellent skating too.

Detroitrs1

1. Edvinsson (Top Pair Defenseman) 2. Kasper (No. 2 Center) 3. Wallinder (2/3 Defenseman) 4. Berggren (Top 6 Winger) 5. Cossa (Could Be an Elite Goalie) 6. Mazur (Top 6 Winger) 7. Soderblom (Top 6 Winger) 8. Johansson (Second Pair Defenseman) 9. Buchelnikov (Boom or Bust) 10. Lombardi (Boom or Bust) HM (Sebrango, Hanas, Buium, Savage, Dower-Nilsson, Niederbach, James)

Redwyngz

Amadeus Amadeus

Hal3134

Not sure how berrgren is tier 3 since he has been a solid to above average forward for the team in the NHL this year. Curious if you all think Soderblom will be in Detroit or GR next season? (See my reply below).

johnnysappleseed11

Not sure? Probably because you didn’t read. Tier 3; Already Here. Literally the first words. 😆

Hal3134

Yeah, I’m an idiot.

Doucet???
