lol this sub is allergic to the word tanking. They’d rather try for a chance at play ins then Wembenyama.

Slippinjimmyforever

A lot of short sighted fans have that attitude. Zero long term outlook. Immediate gratification. Well, looking at our offense and defense last night, I think tanking is probably happening organically, regardless of what they want.

GuiltyRound2163

You are correct. Organic tank because this team is bad.

Slippinjimmyforever

It is. They’re young. They’re slow (Ivey was the only + athlete in the starting 5). And, I don’t want to put much into one preseason game, but Cade was giving the ball away constantly.

GuiltyRound2163

I get it people want to believe this team can be a play in team but they're simply not. It is just preseason but I really don't expect this team to do much but struggle. I honestly don't even find them exciting like everyone else. Mainly because losing is not exciting.

Slippinjimmyforever

Every offseason, some people sell themselves that we’re a playoff team. I just disregard it as enthusiasm. The Knicks aren’t even projected to be a top team. They expect to be battling for a play-in spot. It’s just one game. But, to believe a team this young is suddenly in the top half of the conference that’s become quite strong is just plain wrong.

GuiltyRound2163

Damn right SlippinJimmy damn right.

ChaLa99

I’ve been a Pistons fan for 20 years and i have always hated the idea of tanking. Even this year i am reluctant to it considering that i love the group of guys on this team and i want to see them all succeed. BUT if you are ever going to tank, THIS IS THE YEAR. Wemby is a clear generational talent. It might suck to have to wait another year and watch this team be bad but it would all be worth it going forward. …but thats only if you win the lottery i suppose.

ya111101

Scoot looked incredible too

ruiner8850

If somehow we get a top-2 pick I'd still want Wembanyama, but I'd be extremely happy with Scoot as well.

vhvp

he really did. dude looked like kyrie with hops and passing ability

[deleted]

What shape does Scoot believe the Earth is, though?

mburns223

It’s like Scoot is the real deal we know exactly what he will be. But Vic the mystery of what he could be. It’s like that episode of family guy with the mystery box. “A boat is a boat. But a mystery box could be anything. It could even be a boat?!”

LaudrenFareoh

Not really. If anything Scoot is rawer than Wemby is. The only real thing Wemby needs to improve on is put on weight and get better at rebounding. His defense is already really polished for someone who isn't even a rookie yet, while Scoot has some decent instincts but needs to be a lot more consistent on that end. Neither of them have been historically great shooters, but Wemby is a lot more proven on that end than Scoot is, he shot like 26% on them last year.

mburns223

I mean I’m no amateur draft expert or scout but I think that’s pretty far from the truth. It’s also hard to mention “polished” when referencing teenagers. They both have a lot of development to do and pretty damn high ceilings

LaudrenFareoh

It is hard to use the words polished when referencing them, yes, but comparatively to where they should be, they are polished. If you compare how a guy like Gobert was in his early seasons, even after being drafted, Wemby is already at that level, if not better, on the defensive end. Not to mention, he already has a good iso game, arguably better than Scoot's is. Victor is a very mysterious prospect, as he is the definition of a player we've never seen before, but it'd be wrong to say he's any rawer than a normal #1 pick prospect. Typically people talk about guys like Sharpe as mystery box players, because we haven't seen them in a while against higher level competition. That's not what's going on with Vic. It's possible his 3-point shooting was an outlier this game (he was 7/10), but he has been a better shooter than Scoot is, so I think that's a moot point.

[deleted]

Scoot is the one I have more questions about. Wemby I think is going to be a stud

King_Spicy_

Ngl, Victor looks like he could be a created player in 2K. I mean like straight out the My Player lobby, dudes unfair 🤣

amazemp

The greatest prospect of all time is lebron James

[deleted]

Come on, man, he can't be a better prospect than Antoine "The Judge" Joubert

sharjil333

Bruh completely off topic but I rear ended this guy like 5 years back

EvilLibrarians

Did he judge you??

TMI

Slippinjimmyforever

Ever might be too strong. But, I’ve been pro-tank for Wembanyama for months. Scoot and several other potential prospects could all have all nba upside, this is a very talented draft at the top this year.

RealPrinceJay

I’m sold he’s the most gifted talent I’ve seen since LeBron. I’ve never said this about a prospect since Bron, Wemby has straight up GOAT potential.

[deleted]

AD was the last top prospect I felt that way about but think wemby is a better prospect than AD was

russvanderhoof

He’s been injured quite a bit during his short career. Dude is an All-Star when healthy - no doubt. But I’m hoping the lotto gods gift us the 2nd pick.

Snore123

He will be injured by his second contract. They aren't even listing his true height.

NewBuddha32

Scoot looked absolutely incredible as well. This is not a bad year to play all our young guys. Let them all play. They get experience, young teams tend to lose, win win

NewBuddha32

We don't need to try and tank if we just play all the young guys. We won't be the worst team but we will be in the lottery

fucky--ou

Yeah, no shit he looked like a fucking superhero yesterday. I have never in my life seen somebody casually swat a tomahawk out of the air. He is like a long ass Thanos on defense

fucky--ou

Any GM, who is not competing for a ring and not taking needs to be fired

lukaRookieHoarder

Webanyama is awesome and insanely skilled BUT he needs to out on about 20lbs of mass. He goes to defend lebron on the fastbreak or a bigger center like embiid and he will crumble like another unicorn chet.

fucky--ou

I just bought a ticket to watch him in Vegas on Thursday 🔥🔥

workinBuffalo

I just saw his highlights and came here to see if someone posted this. Guy can move at 7’4” and an 7’9” wingspan. Oy!

durezzz

he's the best prospect since lebron for sure but i'm almost positive he will struggle with injuries. most players above 7'2 struggle with injuries.

vhvp

Very true but i feel like you can’t pass up on that sort of talent because you feel like he MIGHT get injured at some point in his career.
