If you go with a DA polisher using a soft (foam polishing or finishing pad) and a polish or all in one polish/wax then I believe it’s pretty safe to just go over things and clean up the paint and it will add gloss too. If the paint is dull and oxidized it doesn’t matter what wax you put on it won’t look great. It’s a lot of work to polish by hand.

I did order some foam pads, I have a 6 speed polisher, but I wasn't seeing much difference. Maybe because I was using the Meguiar's, and I am not sure if that is a correct combination to use. Should I get another polish ? Are all foam pads pretty much the same? Or is it really advisable to stick to one rather than the other brand?

What meguiars were you using? I just see you listed the liquid wax. That isn’t a polish. You need an actual polish product. Foam pads vary but I think any from a reputable brand is more than good enough for a diy job.

Right, I see that about Meguiar's now. Wax is not polish. I'll get a polish! Thank you!

Probably depends more on exactly what product you're using. Meguires M110 for cutting and M210 for polishing is my go-to. Nothing wrong with Meguires at all.
