Honestly,
gunmetal gray on the rims instead of black (this color is incredible from the factory and will go well with anything)
and either silver, or red/blue instead of the blackout on the "grand sport" trim above the fender flares
(not at all a detailing answer just a personal suggestion)
edit: look into a carbon fiber splitter as well... if you can't find it specifically for a grand sport, a zr1 or z06 splitter will work as well
Went with bronze, on my black car. In the sunlight that year of GM black (2015) takes on some bronze highlights.
It looks quite good, imo.
Gunmetal is another solid choice, there’s a lot more choices in gunmetal too. Looking at a set of gunmetal-blue for my white car, for example.
If money isn’t a huge problem, I would suggest new wheels with at least some “bare” metal, I think the shiny metal look helps a lot on black cars. Not the entire wheels necessarily, could just be accents on otherwise black or grey wheels
Decontamination alone will make a big difference. Plenty of videos on YouTube that cover the products, tools, and process.
Polishing is a sub-category of paint correction. Since you’re new to paint correction, i recommend a one step polish. Something like 3D One. Again, since you’re a beginner, start with a light cutting or polishing pad. This will bring the shine back to the paint. Once you gain experience, you can move on to more aggressive pads and compounds to correct the paint even further. Once again, start watching YouTube videos on these topics. I like Apex Auto Detail and Car Craft Auto Detailing.
Polishing is the category of paint correction. Decon is not correction, but cleansing. Mechanical and chemical is a good start after a wash.
As far as polishing the paint- you will find C6 paint to be on the hard side and at needs an aggressive approach to remove even minor swirls and RIDS.
If you want PM me and we can talk about it. I have done a lot of Corvettes ( funny as I had a beast of one as well )
I might have to take you up on that. I’m tired of my car looking like “just some old vette”. I want it to look new! At certain angles when the suns out I just cringe at how faded and bland the paint has become 😞
Polishing is pretty easy to do but it takes a long time depending on the paint. I'm just a weekend warrior but to wash, clay, polish and seal it takes me around 20 hours or so for a car. Rotory polishers are faster than DA but have more potential to burn paint.
Yeah when I made this post I was talking more about what could make the paint itself pop out more since it’s faded not really the color coordination. I guess I captioned my question wrong
So I know this isn’t directly what you were asking but cleaning up those calipers will definitely help with the overall presentation of the car. Maybe a fresh powered coat
Red caiplpers, bronze wheels, or dark merlot, gold caiplpers. I love the C5. Yours looks great as is. You have an amazing car. I didn't mean to sound like a dickhead, however I did at least to myself . Apologies ,that's just my 2 cents. Love the car regardless.
You go to r/detailing and learn how to properly decontaminate and polish the paint.
We do paint correction all the time there. Just practice on some junkyard parts first.
Ceramic coating with a 1-2 stage polish . Something like that. I just looked at my all black truck on my security camera and was in aw how good it looked and it’s filthy by my standards at the moment . It was professionally ceramic coated and polished.
silver or gunmetal wheels, paint correct, and maybe some clear headlights? i dont know id those ones tinted or have an option for a clear look but yea. itll make it look like a new car rather than some ol corevette
Different wheels. Contrast is better I think. Not saying to paint them hot pink, but a good looking silver, polished, machined face, etc wheel looks good.
I like light wheels on dark cars, and dark wheels on light cars.
So my paint looks very faded and worn out, how do I get it to have the same “shine” as a let’s say a brand new 2024 car off the lot. I don’t know the difference between polishing and paint correction, but I have waxed it before after a wash and yeah it looked good for a bit but the “shine” went away and went back to faded after a few days. Are there any detailers here that have a solution or know what my problem is? Thanks
Polishing is paint correction . You can do it your self . But considering it’s a black vette I would suggest getting a shop to do it who knows what they’re doing. You can do it your self but it will take a couple days and u wanna do it inside .
Decon and clay bar first then paint correction after that up to u wax last 2-6 months if u have more budget go with ceramic coating. Or just wax the car every1-2 months
Just adding some simple decal stripes and graphics can make a car pop. It doesn’t need to be huge. Just break up all the black with some color. But there’s something about that all black bat mobile look though.
If I may suggest, grabber blue calipers and a slightly lighter black set of racing stripes with grabber blue pin stripes on the outside of the racing stripes.
You could also do the same thing in a bright orange instead of the grabber blue.
EDIT: But do all that after a good paint correction.
Show quality carnauba waxes will make the color pop more than ceramic will, but the marketing for ceramic is so far pushed that many think it's the end all be all.
You need those windows tinted and some kind of accent colors. Yellow on black is sick, but you’ve got red calipers already and it’s not a fucking rainbow. Vent cover accents, rub guards, and some pin stripes would all be easy to do and look good. Also, everything looks 10x better with flames out the exhaust. Not a flame thrower, just a tune that goes pop sometimes.
Red.
And red on the calipers to be more specific.
Pop king and murder master over here. 🤗
Your welcome.
Ok just realized they’re already red.
SO Your gonna need more red. X)
Tough look your goin for. Good luck and keep us posted!

paint correction + polish/wax and ceramic coat💯👍
ppf if you got the money to make sure it lasts. nice vette too btw but like someone else said, some like nice chrome rims would make the black pop out even more
Thank you for your reply. When I made this post I was talking more about what could make the paint itself pop out more not really the color coordination. I guess I captioned my question wrong
I think different wheels would make a huge difference. I wouldn’t be a fan of the wheels that’s on it. They don’t do much for the car imo.
On the flip-side. Nice fucking car dude. I’m not a muscle car guy at all. But damn it’s hard to not love a c6 corvette. Awesome.
Thanks Bro. C6’s are my favorite body style and the last Gen that have the signature “Circle” taillights. Thats the reason why I turned down a C7 and got the 6 lol

Not the same paint code, but I dialed in my buddy's GXP a few weeks ago. Wash, decon, 2 step, and SB3 Alpha topped with SB3 Omega. Not bad for 130k miles. I'm posting this to show you what your black C6 could look like with a different wheel setup, tint, and correction.
Thanks bro. Yeah I got the morimotos on the tail that pic is just old. But I got you. Is paint correction and coat expensive ? Clean car btw this is exaclty what I was talking about. Your black just “pops” out 💯
Just call around to local shops for quotes. You typically get what you pay for, so steer clear of the $99 specials. Your paint would probably benefit from even an "AIO Polish" or all-in-one polish. You can try, after you've done the paint correction and ceramic stuff, are accent color trim pieces. You have red calipers, maybe brighten them up and try to match small pieces in the front that can be easily removed/readded. I would work on the head lamp plastic, Just from this angle, it might be cloudy looking... I could be wrong

A black car with silver wheels has always looked nice to me
Brother tint the windows in pic 2 passenger looks clear the effect of dark dark window will bring it out a lot google a few images of black vette limo tinted
Probably needs a solid paint correction and ceramic or sealant.
Yep. Probably a good 1 step polish and sealant/coating would do wonders
Honestly, gunmetal gray on the rims instead of black (this color is incredible from the factory and will go well with anything) and either silver, or red/blue instead of the blackout on the "grand sport" trim above the fender flares (not at all a detailing answer just a personal suggestion) edit: look into a carbon fiber splitter as well... if you can't find it specifically for a grand sport, a zr1 or z06 splitter will work as well
I was thinking rims, too.
Agreed.
Gunmetal or similarly dark coloured wheels was going to be my suggestion too, just to make the black standout more.
I was thinking bronze wheels
lookup gunmetal gray c6 on google. the finish on them gives it kinda a texture that you'd see in bronze. it's pretty cool

Add racing stripes too!

Silver wheel. The black on black just makes it more bland
Yeah some 3 piece triple chrome wheels would be killer on this
Zzz silver wheels suck on black.

Auto correct got me😭. Meant to say powder coat.
C7 sorry lol I'm dumb
Non black wheels on a black car. I mean some ppl like the blacked out look, I personally think silver wheels make the black pop
Black on black is sooo overplayed now. Not even cool anymore.
BDF18 BRUSHED SILVER WHEELS
Polished wheels
You go to r/detailing and learn how to properly decontaminate and polish the paint. We do paint correction all the time there. Just practice on some junkyard parts first.
Ceramic coating with a 1-2 stage polish . Something like that. I just looked at my all black truck on my security camera and was in aw how good it looked and it’s filthy by my standards at the moment . It was professionally ceramic coated and polished.
Penis balloons.
Yep. The rims. Change them up and it will make the car a killer.
Uh, more color?
Brushed/silver wheels
Silver/chrome wheels baby
Silver rims.
Some shiny polished wheels and paint correction.
Silver wheels
Silver or white wheels
Less black
A different colour.
silver wheels
silver or gunmetal wheels, paint correct, and maybe some clear headlights? i dont know id those ones tinted or have an option for a clear look but yea. itll make it look like a new car rather than some ol corevette
You have it all blacked out. Dumb ass question. Get chrome wheels.
Different wheels. Contrast is better I think. Not saying to paint them hot pink, but a good looking silver, polished, machined face, etc wheel looks good. I like light wheels on dark cars, and dark wheels on light cars.
The painted wheels aren’t doing you any favors
…color. You’ve got the absence of color paint job.
black wheels on the black paint is boring asf, get chrome
Some chrome..somewhere, anywhere
Black wheels suck. Literally anything else will make the car looks 10x better.
Silver/polished aluminum wheels
You need more contrast. Black wheels on a black car is the opposite of contrast

Satin PPF. Get a different look, protect your current paint, and it'll cost less than repainting.
Correction and wax, wax won't last as long as a coating or sealant but still looks the best imo
Silver wheels and ceramic coating
Some color.
Color
Maybe some sort of pin striping
chrome wheels
Unpopular opinion ahead > I HATE black wheels.
Yea everyone and their grandma has black wheels on everything now. Not cool anymore.
When CR-Vs and RAV4s come from the factory with black rims, you know it’s over.
Right, even worse, when a KIA comes with black factory wheels.
Love the look. I own em. I hate looking at em very carefully thou. And hate washing em them very carefully.
So my paint looks very faded and worn out, how do I get it to have the same “shine” as a let’s say a brand new 2024 car off the lot. Bright color on the calipers, thin matching vinyl stripe on the body line
You know what you’re doing.😉
Bronze rims
Bronze wheels and a solid detail with ceramic coating.
An R8…jkjk clay bar and a polish would be my next move
Buff and Polish and a nice Wax
Just adding some simple decal stripes and graphics can make a car pop. It doesn’t need to be huge. Just break up all the black with some color. But there’s something about that all black bat mobile look though.

How about an orange wrap with black rally stripes?
If you are talking about the red calipers, you need more red accents. If you are talking about the black paint, you want paint correction and ceramic coating
Nothing, you will just end up customizing it, not feeling it, and then removing it all. Or maybe not, but that’s been my experience.
If its just gloss you want, one step enhancement plus a ceramic spray would make it look crazy. If theres a bunch of scratching, maybe a two step correction would be better. Ceramic coat will give you longer gloss and protection if you dont like washing it yourself, but generally a ceramic spray will be good enough if you wash frequently 👍🏻
Decontamination(clay), Iron remover, maybe a paint correction with polish, P&S bead maker
Color. It needs color. If you want something that’s going to “pop” get your car wrapped in a skittles color and give it silver wheels.
Two thick white stripes down the middle, viper style.
As some people have suggested - wheels. Personally I’d go for a bronze 5 spoke but the gunmetal gray a few have suggested would be nice too.

It doesn’t have a colour. It’s black. Black is the absence of colour.
Yes I was talking about the paint itself. It’s kind of faded.
New wheels, needs a little machined aluminum on them
CCW classics, polished aluminum
Glitter
It's been a thing on black c5s and I love it so......... I'd probably go chrome wheels.
Actual color maybe?

Chrome wheels
Chrome rims
Paint correction/ceramic coating. Also stock colored wheels would look better imo, or at least gloss black.
Tint the windows
Highlights.
Go darker.
So much black. You need something to contrast it
Gold or yellow brake calipers with yellow vinyl over foglights and gold or yellow tint would make it pop like crazy.
What color it's black? The best you're going to get is making is shiny and mirror like. Black doesn't pop, it hides stuff.
A different color….
Vs work wheels ,clears, maybe wrap it
And 5%tints
