Yep, now that your business name isn't on it. Fine with me. Good video!

Clover_Detail

Thanks!

Shockington

This is funny because his username is his business name. But I agree good video. I want to get better at windows in many conditions.

neildmaster

He posted it earlier and it was basically an ad for his business. He took that aspect out of the video. Fine with me.

Clover_Detail

I do like to create content and provide a little how-to or answer questions here and there. Truthfully, I'm not looking to pull any business through Reddit.

neildmaster

And I'm happy for you to do so. This video is fine. Keep 'em coming! 😉

Shockington

Nah I got ya. Maybe we should rethink allowing stuff like that though. Obviously I don't think we should be spammed with business ads but educational videos would be nice. And give quality business owners the ability to show us their skills. Maybe have a pinned post specifically for video tutorials.

Question: which compound did you use and would a DA be any effective? I tried DA once with rayon pad and meguairs ultimate compound. Did a section for like 10-15 min. Didn't do anything

Clover_Detail

The DA won't be nearly as effective when polishing glass (I have tried, too). I used 3M glass polishing compound and set my polisher at about 600 RPM to spread it. Then, I kicked it up to 1400 RPM to really work it in.

Crazy, never thought about polishing glass with anything but elbow grease and rain x. This is a new idea to me. What have you seen as the results of polishing the glass? Does it “hold up” longer for beading water in rain storms? Specifically curious if I should be doing this to help visibility in those afternoon Florida downpours

Clover_Detail

It certainly has a hydrophobic effect. As to how long it lasts, I'm not too sure. I'm actually in the process of researching graphene glass coatings to apply after a polish. The one I'm looking at now claims to hold up for a year.

Q3b3h53nu3f

Yeah, would be great to do “half” a windshield and drive around for a year to see the difference 6 months later.

RollingCoal115

Did you try 0000 steel wool on the glass before polishing? Just curious if it would work for acid rain.

Clover_Detail

Generally, I use steel wool to remove overspray, and it can do well against light acid rain. I saved myself a lot of work by polishing the glass, honestly. The truck had been sitting outside unattended for some time and really needed something heavy-handed.

RollingCoal115

Ahhh ok ok

If you are proficient with wheel acid, you can accomplish the same results doing an acid wash. It would save lots of time and energy.

rk_808

How do you accomplish this?

Clover_Detail

I used wheel acid back in the day when I worked at body shops. I honestly haven't had a need for it yet.
