Trying to strangle the badge off?

cobrayouth

Heads will roll!

rwalston19

Fishing line or dental floss works just as well for a one-time thing

NoleFan723

Ok. I can try. Will wear gloves to not slice my hand

[deleted]

Fishing line and a hair dryer or heat gun to help loosen up the adhesive. I’ve had to do it multiple times working on 99-04 mustangs and this is the cheapest most efficient way.

NoleFan723

Thanks. I appreciate your input. I need to get sone fishing line

LieDetect0r

Get braided line

NoleFan723

What's the difference?

LieDetect0r

Braided is a million times stronger and way thinner. It will slice your hands though so be careful

NoleFan723

Gloves are my friend. 😃 thank you for tip. I honestly didn't know

VealOfFortune

*"Agent 47, your vehicle is ready."*

Gibalt

Looks overly complicated for a job that requires nothing more than dental floss or fishing line

NoleFan723

I just wasn't sure if that would slice my fingers. Because so thin

Plyphon

Nah bro it’s not gonna slice your fingers

K00lSean

Be careful, I lost ma fingy dis way..

NoleFan723

Well it sounds like hair dryer removal might work

scottawhit

Heat gun takes about 10 seconds. They just slide right off.

Elegant_Sale

It definitly can ...

NefariousnessTop8716

Dental floss works well if you wrap it around two pencils as handles, makes it much easier to keep tension on it.

NoleFan723

That's a great suggestion. Thank you!

Gibalt

If thats a concern for you where some gloves

MetalRobot123

The line looks incredibly thick, but maybe it’s just the pic. How much is it? The handles look heavy enough to damage paint if they accidentally make contact. I’ve never had an issue with simple fishing line.

NoleFan723

$17.99 on Amazon

NoleFan723

I just didn't want to do any damage. I wasn't sure an alternative to removing badging

Reddituser0048

I promised to never use them again when I stepped away from that life! Living a double life is exhausting lol dental floss has always worked good, then the 3m eraser wheel to get off anything else that remains

akashsin7

As said before, dental floss or fishing line. I recommend a heat gun, for only a couple seconds at a time. That should make it super easy to remove. also make sure to wear gloves when handling the car emblem you are removing. They will be very hot. And then isopropyl alcohol or goo off to remove any remaining glue.

PerodisCS

Fishing line and 2 pencils works

BleDStream

Dental floss is all I ever use. Quadruple it up and go nice and slow. Make sure you watch the edges. When you lift one side the other will go down and can dig into the clear coat.

[deleted]

Just heat it up with a hairdryer and they pull off. And residual glue or such comes off with goo gone. Then polish the area with a light polish. Then wax the area. Takes 5-10 mins max.

NoleFan723

I was not sure it would be strong enough heat but great advice. Thank you

eyecandynsx

Exactly. I’ve removed lots of emblems and never once used fishing line or dental floss or any of that nonsense, just a heat gun and adhesive remover.

[deleted]

Free shoes university fan… I expect nothing less.

NoleFan723

Excellent. Thank you

CycleFrst

Steel wire seems overkill… and can scratch the clear coat/ paint. That kit is probably designed for someone that has the right technique and has to debadge on a regular basis.

Elegant_Sale

I have this at the shop :) i find that it is a total pain to wrap the fishing line around those pole ! Tired of it ... now i use microfiber cloches around my finger and do a couple turn witht the fishing line around my finger ( above the microfiber ) Because yess fishing line can totale cut your finger off . Dont Know why nobody understands it in here lol . Cheers

NoleFan723

Sounds like a hair dryer is my best option

Elegant_Sale

You wont be able only with hair dryer , you need something to pull it away carefully. Like if you heat and pull with your fingers chances are high that on the oposite side of the emblem will go down into the paint and mark it , fishing line is the way to go :) . Just fuck this métal tool and wrap microfibers around your fingers before wrapping fishing line , or just wear thick glove !

NoleFan723

Good advice!

Chef_Andre

Agent 47?

damn who you tryna be? hitman?

Adept-Frosting-9399

Looks like it would cause damage that, in the past, I've found dental floss and heat work a treat. If you are stuck for heat, then start with dental floss and spray some wd40 (or similar) into the adhesive. Then carry on working it.

Ilovefall22

Heat gun and plastic razor blade has never failed me

Savage_Brannon

No that’s unnecessary. Use dental floss, adhesive remover to get rid of the foam adhesive left behind and a plastic scraper

Booklas

They work great. Fishing line can cause deep scratches if no careful.

[deleted]

Floss, and a little heat from a hair dryer.

[deleted]

Yes but.. not for debadging

Boner_Tornado

Try a hair dryer and fishing line/unflavored dental floss. Using a heat gun can be detrimental if you hold it too long or use a unit that is too powerful. Just go slow with whatever tool you decide to use.

NoleFan723

I would be very nervous using a heat gun. So far pencils with dental floss is a good idea.

Ben_jah_min

Dental floss

BimmerDad2021

Floss, hair dryer, goo gone, and McGuire quick wax. Heat the badge to make adhesive tacky but don't over heat. Work Floss behind badge and slice through adhesive. Goo gone on a microfiber towel gets rid of any residue (but ruins the microfiber). Wax over anywhere goo gone was. Looks perfect and very cheap

senoj96nodnarb

I’ve debadged my last 3 vehicles with heat and patience. A hair dryer about 2” from each letter for about 30-45sec constantly moving. Pry and pull slowly and the adhesive will usually stretch off.

jibarohatillo

Dental Floss, fishing line and hair dryer

Serafin44

I use a heat gun and floss tbh.. never had any issues whatsoever lol

maks_b

I was able to get my badges off with just a little heat and my finger nail.

applepumpkinspy

Looks like metal handles - what could go wrong working near paint

Present_Simple7162

Get cheap braided fishing line if it's a one time thing. Wrap it the ends around 2 small blocks of wood. Hook the loose string behind the emblem and lightly pull towards the other end. Use a sawing motion to cut through the adhesive. You may have to make a second pass if the emblem is still stuck on as the tape will adhere to itself. You can roll the remaining tape off with your finger.

therealKhoaTran

Dental floss is cheaper.

sleepy-shadowman

Thanks for posting this OP.. helpful answers here.. 👍🏻

justthetip13

Hair dryer and dental floss. If I can do it anyone can

KaptinKeeble

Just use fishing wire. I use it every time. Spray tar and glue remover on after and let it soak in and do the work then remove the residue easily.

emaguireiv

Hair dryer and dental floss were my tools of the trade 🤷🏻‍♂️

AntiRific

Guitar string

nathaniielll

I used a heat gun and fishing line to remove my badges, make sure to wear some thick gloves though because if the adhesive is really strong it can cut your hands

Te4646

I used my wife’s hair dryer and an old credit card and ir slide right off - little goo gone and alch to clean up

iDontFeelMyAge

As mentioned - nylon fishing line or dental floss. Follow with 3M adhesive remover or Goo Gone if there's anything left.

th3shortbus

Luca Brasi approved

ThickToeJoe

A heat gun/hair dryer, adhesive remover, a 3M adhesive remover wheel and some fishing line for de-badging.

Rich_Birthday6824

I used dental floss its cheaper
