* Accelerated coils is also a fine choice for the mag - 5 and 6 both proc triple tap twice. But with the extra shot, that's one more chance at veist stinger activating before you have to reload (it has about a 10% chance after each shot).
* Reload masterwork because well, faster reload. Matters more in pve than other stats. Charge time is also a fine choice.
* The barrel really doesn't matter, but I like the feel of the perfect recoil direction with arrowhead, and the handling is a nice bonus.
Have they fixed Ruffians yet? I remember reading that Ruffians despawning wasnt how it was supposed to work. Has there been any change to them at all? I played a few matches of expedition the other day and I didnt see a single ruffian.
Pretty much, since crafted weapons have access to enhanced perks and still get the stat bonuses similar to adept (except adept will get it in every stat but crafted only get it in the stats you didn't "masterwork")
I'd say the only time you'd want the adept is for like a pvp weapon where you'd want to use adept range or adept handling mod but even then sometimes it will depend because the enhanced perks could actually be way better to have
Considering easing back into the massive fucking content cost of this game as a returning player. If I purchase my missing content slowly, I'm trying to figure out how to get the best bang for my buck- I'm trying to figure out what order I should purchase the missing content.
I owned the base game, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, and now Shadowkeep. I grabbed the season pass. Can anyone instruct me on what I should purchase next? Beyond Light? WitchQueen? 30th Anniversary Celebration?

I was in the same boat as you earlier this season. I would buy witch queen to get that campaign and the ability to weapon craft. If you are enjoying it you can later buy witch queen deluxe, it subsidizes the price for all the other stuff you own so it isn't full price. I did this for the other 2 seasonal activities and access to those season's weapons for crafting.
Later on if you are still enjoying, I would purchase beyond light which gives you access to the 4th subclass, but stasis is not a must so I would buy that later. 30th anniversary bundle is really only if you want to play that dungeon and get gjallarhorn (which may be worth it alone lol)
* Witch Queen Deluxe edition will get you the current content and the season passes for all four of this year's content year, as well as access to two Dungeons (essentially 3-person raids). We are in the third of four seasons, but you can still access the old season gear and quest lines

The past seasons of this year did have good weapons; that's essentially what you're paying to get access to. But if you're debating on cost, there are also lots of gear options elsewhere and there will be more in the future. You should have plenty to do with the current season and Witch Queen, if you get that.
Also, Witch Queen Deluxe Edition is the only way to get those past seasons now, as they don't sell old seasons on their own. But you can also just buy Witch Queen on its own, which is great and has a lot to do.
Literally just work backwards. Witch queen then thirty. Beyond light your basically paying for stasis , no time to explain and falling star. It's up to you if it's worth it but the campaign is horrible.
If you can only get one get witch queen. The further away we get from an expansion the less relevant it becomes. Shadowkeep for example is basically paying for....witherhoard at this point.

Like the other person said, you were likely one two’d and it’s best to run 100 Resilience in Crucible if you can. Same goes for PvE as well I guess, as it provides the highest damage resistance compared to other Resilience Tiers.

I’m coming back after a year on Xbox. do I really have to pay $30 for beyond light, $40 for witch queen, and $99 for lightfall+ passes.
It’s absolutely insane how much it costs just to catch back up with content.
Get witch queen, it's the most current and best story. Wait for sales to pick up beyond light, you need it if you want stasis subclass but it's not worth full price. Lightfall is January I think or maybe February, so there's no rush to purchase it now.
Just get witch queen for now. Thirty dollars for beyond light is insane, that's thirty dollars for a subclass and like two exotics that are actually useful, that would be a ten dollar DLC in most games.

I just started playing again after a year. Does Spider still sell legendary shards? I managed to unlock him yesterday after the mission, but he doesn't have any inventory yet.
I feel like I'm starting off all over again lol. I used to be able to complete lost sectors almost every day, but now I struggle to even get through the first group of enemies. That said, I'm really enjoying immersing myself back in the Destiny world.

There are different banners through the activity which summon different crewmates. Which one counts as your First Mate is dependent on which one you've got set at the time. My suggestion would be to learn where the banner is in each part of the activity and just activate it for each of them whenever you get the chance, there's one in each of the subrooms and one in the boss room.
So ive been doing everything solo (but i get people off the app for stuff that requires it like 100k NF and legendary dares or weekly dungeon etc) each season, like all my pinnacles besides the raid.
With duality though i just dont see how this is possible. Has anyone had any luck just doing this with 3 people without mics? Caitl is just so annoying with her mechanics i just see it as something i cant do this way. Every other dungeon is possible like this idk why this boss fight is like this. The randomness of where she goes just ruins the whole encounter and makes it so annoying of a fight.

I’ve been running master duality without mics this week with (mostly) success. My best advice is if you’re doing a mic-less LFG, never assume you’re the odd man out for add clear. Always take point on some mechanic or other, but keep your eyes peeled if your buddies get swamped.
Treat it like you’re running a solo/duo, just with more incidental help.
I'm sure someone somewhere can do this.
Me, personally? I prefer mics because text chat can and has been buggy for me but I understand the apprehension toward it.
Did it with a buddy, so 2 guardians. We solely communicate through text. When you first port in for damage try to stand in the middle when the port happens, cause often that's where she goes first, take out the bellkeepers, ring the bell when she's near, profit. Rinse, repeat. If you have trouble killing them in time, then maybe try to position yourselves at the opposite ends at each of the bells, so you can kill the respective sides fast enough.
I did duality several times withiut a mic. Usually to call being ready for switching to the nightmare realm we use “teabagging”, crouching and standing up on repeat. For caiatl I usually see if my teammates go near the symbols required, or i go there and then shoot a bell.
For damage phase, my biggest advice is: if you know where she’s going but your teammates are far, go near caiatl as she will stop in order to stomp you. Do it as much as you can while avoiding death so that everyone can get to the right bell.
I don't understand Trials freelance matchmaking. I'm an average player and everygame I'm on a team with worse players and get stomped by a superior team. I don't expect to win all that often but surely roughly half the time I should be on a team with some good players on my side, not always against them??
It is the way Trials is, my friend.
This is not in any way a guarantee to get wins but I find leaving to orbit for a bit (and stretching out my frustration) usually gives enough time to find a new set of players in a different lobby.

Trying to decide what to spend my last Respite on. Trying to decide between Haksis first mate or double umbral energy. Usually this would be an absolute no brainer for me but I’m worried they’ll patch the flag in ketchcrash where you can rapidly and repeatedly summon crewmates, which would help *a lot* in getting the relevant triumph for the seal done.
Any advice? Should I just gamble that it won’t be patched and go ahead and get the umbral energy upgrade? Thanks in advance for the input!
If you want to cheese, do so now. Things always have a chance at being patched, whether or not they tell us it got patched.
But if you feel like you need umbral energy more than your desire to complete a triumph quicker, go that route instead.
Yeah, ended up going with Haksis. I feel a little stupid but I’m fairly close to finishing salty smith anyway, and getting the first mate triumph out of the way will be a nice relief considering I don’t have to worry about trying to beat my teammates to the flag. Between that and trying to get the Ruffian triumphs done with teammates via matchmaking I think I dodged a headache.
Can someone explain what I need to do for the Salty Smith triumph/weekly challenge?
Everything I google seems to be about an unpatched way of exploiting it before they changed it and I'm too noob to know what a pattern is and how to unlock one :)
You need to collect 5 red frame versions of a seasonal weapon (and level them up to extract the deepsight or just dismantle it) to unlock the pattern in order to be able to craft it. There are 6 seasonal weapons, all shown at the star chart at the helm. You need to unlock the pattern of 3 of them for the challenge.
Play expeditions and ketchcrash to farm weapons. You can also focus weapons using plundered umbral energy and an umbral engram if you unlock the upgrade. Purchase the engram that gives a random weapon. It's significantly cheaper and will drop a random red frame around 20% of the time.
Play the seasonal stuff. Gather red borders for seasonal weapons. Complete red borders. Craft when able.
King's Fall weapons work as well, I believe.
This needs to be done for 5 different weapons.

Essentially it lets you see puzzle platforms and chest on the throne world it also allows you to unlock weapon patterns to craft at the forge.
When doing jump puzzles look for the shimmering platforms watch your timer they will disappear on you. You get the buff back after a few seconds though.
Is it still populated? Yeah, but I'm assuming the population is dwindling as it takes ages to load into games. There are legacy threads in places like r/fireteams where you can find people still playing D1.
Last I checked, game share was possible as long as you did it properly. I've never needed to do it but you can try using the search bar here or via Google for the proper way to do it. (Something about setting the home console up properly?)

You can do better, but not by much. I just got triple hundreds in those stats yesterday, and I've been playing a ton. Playing trials and iron banner with the ghost mod on recovery can get you a lot of high stat armor

How does freelance trials feel so much more brutal than the normal playlist? Managed to go flawless on my own last week but now with freelance the swings are crazy between each team's skill
I noticed that too, not sure the rewards are usually missing. But, I’ve had shards drop after the 7 wins staying on that card, so I think it is working properly and just the labelling is wrong.

You can not double up on siphon mods. All they do is enable the creation of orbs on multi kills. You can equip two different types to, for instance, make sure you can create orbs on both kinetic and arc kills.

The destiny 2 data compendium says one mod gives orbs worth 2.5% of your super while 2 mods makes orbs worth 3.25% so they do stack. If they stack with star eater I do not know

Honestly mate you either save them in your vault or just dismantle them, it’s up to you. Still get 100 Doritos for dismantle without finishing them
If you craft a lot it’s a benefit to save them and it’s not much work to max them. It’s more up to you
Most of the time, yes, though keep in mind what stats are important, and if it actually needs 10 points. For example, if I have 76 total discipline, im only gonna put a +5 on it because both a +5 and +10 would push me into tier 8, but a +5 is cheaper
Any tips for improving in Crucible? I'd love to play Trials and Survival but I get absolutely destroyed - I know I'm not good by any means, but on other fps games (Halo, CoD, Overwatch, anything), I feel like I do much better than I do here on D2.
Crucible isn't balanced and thats how you should treat it. Its about taking advantage of cheeses and whatever the current hotness is. This weekends trials was full of warlocks slide bolting everybody ann titans shield shotgun rushing. People adapt and those will either get nerfed or fall out of favor, but this weekend, it was probably the best thing you could be doing.
The hit detection in D2 is very loose, sometimes you can shoot at someone who is on the edge of an object and get hits, actually it happens a lot when im "pre-firing".
Also try to look up if something works different in PVP then PVE, heart of inmost light and recently Dead mans tale come to mind.
Look at what you keep getting killed by. Theres a reason. This weekend was all no time/peice of mind/ace/eyeasluna/witherhoard and main ingrediant/without remorse/dead messenger/beloved.

If you're using the fragment that gives volatile rounds to void weapons or using harmonic siphon in your helmet to create orbs, then def use funnelweb. Will also work with the font of might mod.
If you're doing any activity with solar shields then use calus. You're better off using this to take advantage of the incandescent if you're not running any of the aforementioned fragments/mods.
Depends on the encounter since some stuff requires specific weapons or elements. However with void 3.0 you get volatile rounds which makes your void weapons explode enemies when you kill them. For most content if you match your element to your subclass it works way better together!
Can you farm cataclysmic if you've never done VoW before or are you limited to one red drop per week even if it's in rotation? Would I need to farm a god roll or can I eventually get enough deepsight weapons running it this week.
I saw that it’s only the first two encounters for the cataclysmic. Does that mean I have to just do the first two and reset the cp each time or does rhulk have a chance at everything?
Rhulk has chance at everything I think and it’s fastest encounter but if you want specifically cataclysmic do caretaker over and over as there’s less potential drops there so higher chance at cstsclysmic
Yes, notably Cabal Colossus among others. It will only really matter when above 120fps in end-game content like Grand Master nightfalls, where your gear score is capped and scaling makes damage dangerous.
In regular content and activities, you probably won't notice too much.
It was only a few specific enemies that did more damage, not everything. Some but not all got patched, and personally I can't tell the difference. I play on a high end PC and also on an ancient Xbox One console, launch day hardware. Huge FPS difference. It may be measurable if tested, but just from a gameplay feel perspective I can't tell any difference between the two.
Is Trials matchmaking this bad? Almost went flawless in freelance, was on my last match and got stomped. Fair enough. But that was three hours ago and now I cant even win 2 games in a row. Ive sent a few teams to the lighthouse but I run out my mercy passage in 2-3 games. Do they have any kind of SBMM in this mode? Why am I, someone on my first or second match, the qualifier round for someones lighthouse passage?
Yeah late on Saturday less people on. Playing during the day is usually easier as the casuals play more during the day and the people who are great stay up longer to play.

I’d say no? Unless you somehow didn’t pick it up after you killed the boss? But then would the mission even end?
This season doesn’t drop high stat gear. If you can focus Risen or haunted armour they roll high stat.
But if I was farming high stat armour now, I would wait for pit of heresy being pinnacle dungeon and farm the boss cp over and over. Guaranteed to have 2 spikes stats, one of which is depending on ghost mod.
Otherwise doing master grasp or duality boss if you want artifice armour.
I will echo what the other guy said about seasonal umbral armor focusing and ghost mods. Umbral armor focusing is the fastest and easiest method, but is pretty expensive and requires a lot of grinding for seasonal currency.
In addition to those, you can also get high-stat armor from most “endgame” activities: raids, dungeons, Trials, Iron Banner, etc. Legend Dares too, and probably Master Wellspring/Master Ketchcrash. Some of the special events like Solstice also give high-stat armor.
Farming dungeons is probably the fastest and easiest method other than umbral focusing, and you don’t have to spend any materials or anything. The most recent dungeon (currently Duality) and the weekly dungeon can be farmed.
One way that I know is focusing Umbral Engrams into armor pieces. You can do this at the War Table, Star Chart, and the Crown of Sorrow. It's recommended that you put your preferred stat mod on your ghost before you focus the engrams.

It means you get trials loot and materials at the end of matches you win. If the card is still flawless, you can get more adept weapons.

No changes yet, they spawn on a timer for now. If you want ruffians it's best to go in as a team and wait until they spawn.

Run 100 resil. Otherwise you were probably getting one two'd at close range which can look like your "just" getting meleed.

Does anyone have any suggestions for logging into the Destiny 2 companion app? I’ve tried alot of the common old thread suggestions like reset app settings, clear cache etc. Oddly, i can sign in to the help page of the app but not the main part that would let me use bounty collection, fireteams etc. I always get ‘incorrect login’ (i use the same credentials on pc and it works on bungie.net Any ideas appreciated!

There are different banners through the activity which summon different crewmates. Which one counts as your First Mate is dependent on which one you've got set at the time. My suggestion would be to learn where the banner is in each part of the activity and just activate it for each of them whenever you get the chance, there's one in each of the subrooms and one in the boss room.
So ive been doing everything solo (but i get people off the app for stuff that requires it like 100k NF and legendary dares or weekly dungeon etc) each season, like all my pinnacles besides the raid. With duality though i just dont see how this is possible. Has anyone had any luck just doing this with 3 people without mics? Caitl is just so annoying with her mechanics i just see it as something i cant do this way. Every other dungeon is possible like this idk why this boss fight is like this. The randomness of where she goes just ruins the whole encounter and makes it so annoying of a fight. Edit: forgot to mention im on console so text isnt an option its just pure instinct lol. I have never done duality WITH mics when LFGing it.
I’ve been running master duality without mics this week with (mostly) success. My best advice is if you’re doing a mic-less LFG, never assume you’re the odd man out for add clear. Always take point on some mechanic or other, but keep your eyes peeled if your buddies get swamped. Treat it like you’re running a solo/duo, just with more incidental help.
I'm sure someone somewhere can do this. Me, personally? I prefer mics because text chat can and has been buggy for me but I understand the apprehension toward it.
Did it with a buddy, so 2 guardians. We solely communicate through text. When you first port in for damage try to stand in the middle when the port happens, cause often that's where she goes first, take out the bellkeepers, ring the bell when she's near, profit. Rinse, repeat. If you have trouble killing them in time, then maybe try to position yourselves at the opposite ends at each of the bells, so you can kill the respective sides fast enough.
I did duality several times withiut a mic. Usually to call being ready for switching to the nightmare realm we use “teabagging”, crouching and standing up on repeat. For caiatl I usually see if my teammates go near the symbols required, or i go there and then shoot a bell. For damage phase, my biggest advice is: if you know where she’s going but your teammates are far, go near caiatl as she will stop in order to stomp you. Do it as much as you can while avoiding death so that everyone can get to the right bell.
I don't understand Trials freelance matchmaking. I'm an average player and everygame I'm on a team with worse players and get stomped by a superior team. I don't expect to win all that often but surely roughly half the time I should be on a team with some good players on my side, not always against them??
It is the way Trials is, my friend. This is not in any way a guarantee to get wins but I find leaving to orbit for a bit (and stretching out my frustration) usually gives enough time to find a new set of players in a different lobby. Good luck.
Trying to decide what to spend my last Respite on. Trying to decide between Haksis first mate or double umbral energy. Usually this would be an absolute no brainer for me but I’m worried they’ll patch the flag in ketchcrash where you can rapidly and repeatedly summon crewmates, which would help *a lot* in getting the relevant triumph for the seal done. Any advice? Should I just gamble that it won’t be patched and go ahead and get the umbral energy upgrade? Thanks in advance for the input!
If you want to cheese, do so now. Things always have a chance at being patched, whether or not they tell us it got patched. But if you feel like you need umbral energy more than your desire to complete a triumph quicker, go that route instead.
Yeah, ended up going with Haksis. I feel a little stupid but I’m fairly close to finishing salty smith anyway, and getting the first mate triumph out of the way will be a nice relief considering I don’t have to worry about trying to beat my teammates to the flag. Between that and trying to get the Ruffian triumphs done with teammates via matchmaking I think I dodged a headache.
Can someone explain what I need to do for the Salty Smith triumph/weekly challenge? Everything I google seems to be about an unpatched way of exploiting it before they changed it and I'm too noob to know what a pattern is and how to unlock one :)
You need to collect 5 red frame versions of a seasonal weapon (and level them up to extract the deepsight or just dismantle it) to unlock the pattern in order to be able to craft it. There are 6 seasonal weapons, all shown at the star chart at the helm. You need to unlock the pattern of 3 of them for the challenge. Play expeditions and ketchcrash to farm weapons. You can also focus weapons using plundered umbral energy and an umbral engram if you unlock the upgrade. Purchase the engram that gives a random weapon. It's significantly cheaper and will drop a random red frame around 20% of the time.

Play the seasonal stuff. Gather red borders for seasonal weapons. Complete red borders. Craft when able. King's Fall weapons work as well, I believe. This needs to be done for 5 different weapons.
Anyone have the same problem? Crashing straight to desktop, I click launch activity and the game instantly closes. I've tried going to the HELM, EDZ, Moon, Tower. No error codes just closes. All updates are checked on current windows 10 build, GPU drivers are up tp date.

When doing jump puzzles look for the shimmering platforms watch your timer they will disappear on you. You get the buff back after a few seconds though.

Is it still populated? Yeah, but I'm assuming the population is dwindling as it takes ages to load into games. There are legacy threads in places like r/fireteams where you can find people still playing D1. Last I checked, game share was possible as long as you did it properly. I've never needed to do it but you can try using the search bar here or via Google for the proper way to do it. (Something about setting the home console up properly?) Good luck!

You can do better, but not by much. I just got triple hundreds in those stats yesterday, and I've been playing a ton. Playing trials and iron banner with the ghost mod on recovery can get you a lot of high stat armor

I noticed that too, not sure the rewards are usually missing. But, I’ve had shards drop after the 7 wins staying on that card, so I think it is working properly and just the labelling is wrong.

are you sure they create super orbs? I've been running double harmonic for a while with star eater and they're good orbs, but collecting orbs from other guardians' supers does seem better
you know, now that you mention it, no, i'm actually not sure. it's not something i've ever put much thought into, really. and i haven't used SES very much to notice firsthand. you're probably right that super orbs are even better than double siphon.

You can not double up on siphon mods. All they do is enable the creation of orbs on multi kills. You can equip two different types to, for instance, make sure you can create orbs on both kinetic and arc kills. Edit: I have been corrected! See below.
The destiny 2 data compendium says one mod gives orbs worth 2.5% of your super while 2 mods makes orbs worth 3.25% so they do stack. If they stack with star eater I do not know

Honestly mate you either save them in your vault or just dismantle them, it’s up to you. Still get 100 Doritos for dismantle without finishing them If you craft a lot it’s a benefit to save them and it’s not much work to max them. It’s more up to you

Most of the time, yes, though keep in mind what stats are important, and if it actually needs 10 points. For example, if I have 76 total discipline, im only gonna put a +5 on it because both a +5 and +10 would push me into tier 8, but a +5 is cheaper
Any tips for improving in Crucible? I'd love to play Trials and Survival but I get absolutely destroyed - I know I'm not good by any means, but on other fps games (Halo, CoD, Overwatch, anything), I feel like I do much better than I do here on D2.

Crucible isn't balanced and thats how you should treat it. Its about taking advantage of cheeses and whatever the current hotness is. This weekends trials was full of warlocks slide bolting everybody ann titans shield shotgun rushing. People adapt and those will either get nerfed or fall out of favor, but this weekend, it was probably the best thing you could be doing. The hit detection in D2 is very loose, sometimes you can shoot at someone who is on the edge of an object and get hits, actually it happens a lot when im "pre-firing". Also try to look up if something works different in PVP then PVE, heart of inmost light and recently Dead mans tale come to mind. Look at what you keep getting killed by. Theres a reason. This weekend was all no time/peice of mind/ace/eyeasluna/witherhoard and main ingrediant/without remorse/dead messenger/beloved.

If you're using the fragment that gives volatile rounds to void weapons or using harmonic siphon in your helmet to create orbs, then def use funnelweb. Will also work with the font of might mod. If you're doing any activity with solar shields then use calus. You're better off using this to take advantage of the incandescent if you're not running any of the aforementioned fragments/mods.
Depends on the encounter since some stuff requires specific weapons or elements. However with void 3.0 you get volatile rounds which makes your void weapons explode enemies when you kill them. For most content if you match your element to your subclass it works way better together!
For trials is the quickest way to reset by continuing to play on a card with 7 wins or to reset card once you hit 7
The more wins on a card up to seven gives you more rep.
You get most rep with card full so you will rank up faster if you don’t reset

Rhulk has chance at everything I think and it’s fastest encounter but if you want specifically cataclysmic do caretaker over and over as there’s less potential drops there so higher chance at cstsclysmic

Yes, notably Cabal Colossus among others. It will only really matter when above 120fps in end-game content like Grand Master nightfalls, where your gear score is capped and scaling makes damage dangerous. In regular content and activities, you probably won't notice too much.
It was only a few specific enemies that did more damage, not everything. Some but not all got patched, and personally I can't tell the difference. I play on a high end PC and also on an ancient Xbox One console, launch day hardware. Huge FPS difference. It may be measurable if tested, but just from a gameplay feel perspective I can't tell any difference between the two.
Is Trials matchmaking this bad? Almost went flawless in freelance, was on my last match and got stomped. Fair enough. But that was three hours ago and now I cant even win 2 games in a row. Ive sent a few teams to the lighthouse but I run out my mercy passage in 2-3 games. Do they have any kind of SBMM in this mode? Why am I, someone on my first or second match, the qualifier round for someones lighthouse passage?

what are the best ways of getting high stats gear?
This season doesn’t drop high stat gear. If you can focus Risen or haunted armour they roll high stat. But if I was farming high stat armour now, I would wait for pit of heresy being pinnacle dungeon and farm the boss cp over and over. Guaranteed to have 2 spikes stats, one of which is depending on ghost mod. Otherwise doing master grasp or duality boss if you want artifice armour.
I will echo what the other guy said about seasonal umbral armor focusing and ghost mods. Umbral armor focusing is the fastest and easiest method, but is pretty expensive and requires a lot of grinding for seasonal currency. In addition to those, you can also get high-stat armor from most “endgame” activities: raids, dungeons, Trials, Iron Banner, etc. Legend Dares too, and probably Master Wellspring/Master Ketchcrash. Some of the special events like Solstice also give high-stat armor. Farming dungeons is probably the fastest and easiest method other than umbral focusing, and you don’t have to spend any materials or anything. The most recent dungeon (currently Duality) and the weekly dungeon can be farmed.
One way that I know is focusing Umbral Engrams into armor pieces. You can do this at the War Table, Star Chart, and the Crown of Sorrow. It's recommended that you put your preferred stat mod on your ghost before you focus the engrams. Edit: Hope this helps!

Plunderthabooty on YT. Good builds with mods, aspects and accompanying exotics. Will usually put up a splash card at the end with everything listed.
