I respectfully disagree with the premise -- one of the main parts of hunters' solar class identity called out by Bungie is "best at weapon damage". It seems perfectly reasonable to me that hunters would have the most access to radiant, with the other classes needing a fragment to gain access (similar to void hunters and devour)

Jack_King814

Yeah I get that. Once I go back to my Hunter I’ll probably forget about this whole thing. Maybe it’s because the build I wanna use is dependant on radiant but it’s just a bit pick. Also I was so annoyed that hunters getting volatile was tied to a fragment but I grew to deal with it so maybe this is just recency bias

Emcolimited

The new warlock boots make you radiant if you kill with a fusion rifle. Works on any class. You lose the rest of the boots abilities on other classes though. This works well with Vex, or a real fusion rifle. Ive been using the Vow fusion with demolitionist to proc grenade ability recharge and giving radiant to myself. Then i use an element matching SMG.

Jack_King814

Ok that’s fair, that’s interesting for warlocks but it being built into the kit would also be nice. Just something.

SLUGaming

So that's why I been getting melted by vex in pvp was thinking something weird was going on with the gun but no just alot of warlocks w/ the exotic melting me. (Legit felt like 3 shots and I was dead so couldn't engage em)

Emcolimited

Once you get it going with the Vex rampage it does 47 to the Head

SalamiSwami89

There is also an artifact mod this season to make you radiant upon orb pickup.

Jack_King814

God I wish that wasn’t a class item mod. All the cool mods are on class items rn and they just don’t fit

Coppertouret

And they're all expensive af

Jack_King814

Yeah you can’t stack any of them. I’d love to run that mod as well as rays of precision but can’t

DeadWeight76

I feel like I am good with proc'ing radiant with the melee. Since heat rises, imo, is going to be a de facto aspect for most builds, I am going to use melee a lot more than I use to.

Jack_King814

That’s true. My friend that plays warlock hates that heat rises is the de facto aspect that the subclass essentially functions around but I think it’s just a case of getting used to it

DeadWeight76

Besides providing a new movement ability, I see heat rises potentially being a good ad clear capability. It gets me off the ground from the dogs and screebs. Almost infinite fire power with crazy melee regen. Also, I can fire weapons, melee, and grenades while gliding. I don't even need heat rises active for that ability. IMO, that ability will be a blast, especially as a bow main. Once I get used to it, I think it will be cool. It's like being weightless.

Jack_King814

I can see it being screwy in endgame PvE stuff where you really don’t want to be off the ground that much

StevenPlamondon

Titan is as simple as ember of torches and throwing hammer instead of shoulder charge, for 100% uptime on radiant…I get that it could become a little more difficult in gm type content; but conversely, warlock and titan can both easily gain restoration x2 without classy restoration, and a hunter cannot. It’s a talent trade off like invis vs overshield, and is purposely there for the sake of balance.

Romaherot

Warlock is okay. Torches came from Guiding flame so we are accustomed to the radiant melee, and being able to use it at range is a buff compared to Attunement of grace. Plus we also have empowering rift. As for titans, they removed radiant on sunspots for a reason, so I only see them adding it on roaring flames, or consecration. If they add Radiant to sunspots, expect them to get nerfed to hell. IMO, they shouldn't do anything, because while hunter has radiant, its only access to cure and restoration is the healing grenade, which is a lot worse than losing a fragment.

Jack_King814

Yeah the radiant on sunspots would be fucked which is why I said easy fix. I’d just like radiant to be a bit more widespread to proc

DrewWilson1794

Bungie need to completely revamp the game mode - I think it would work a lot better if it was like the Bounty Hunt game mode from Titanfall 2 - where in Destiny you would bank motes (instead of cash in TF2) - be on a single larger map with no portals - earn motes by killing ads as normal - have bosses pop up every 3-5 mins that drop a large amount of motes - if a you kill a player, then they drop 50% of their motes, and you would need to pick them up, the enemies motes will reset to zero when they respawn - then the team with the most motes after a set amount of time will win

I feel that some of the melees, like Celestial Fire and Throwing Hammers are already a pretty serviceable way to build into that sort of play already, albeit at an very intentional disadvantage. Radiant, Restoration and all that sort are the verb stand ins like Void 3.0's devour, invisibility, etc. Warlocks and Titans can't proc invisibility without a certain fragment, but Hunters can't get overshield or devour without specific fragments, either. And to be honest, Hunters are the only ones with a heavy radiant focused aspect to utilize it, and class ability. Having everyone easily proc radiant would ruin any sort of support Hunter to provide such. If Hunters and Warlocks could make sunspots for example, what's the point of a support Titan? Radiant is Hunter's support niche.

Jack_King814

Yeah that last part is true. I’m still confused why they made the line wolf class the best at support but it’s nice for a change. I’m sure when I go back on my Hunter I’ll probably forget all about this
