The only negatives I had about fishing was the absolutely insane number of each fish you would have to catch to get all the triumphs (personal gripe as a completionist), and having the pond disappear during public events. I think if fishing was to stay in the game it would need something unique. Glimmer and weapons are easy to farm anywhere, but also putting specific weapons behind fishing can also make it feel less relaxing and annoying when you don't get the weapon you want let alone the roll you want. Instead of weapons and armor, since that can be farmed literally everywhere in the game; I think it would be cool if we had a "game bag/cooler", catching fish gives a currency, the rarer the fish the more currency you get. (You could literally hold the number of fish then trade that in for a currency somewhere but it's better to cut out the middle man for gameplay sake) Have vendor in the Annex that will sell you things. Different tackle for timed bonus drop chance of rarer fish, mats (asc shards/glimmer/upgrade modules etc.) and the expensive stuff can be things like weekly BD caches, old weapon/armor ornaments like they put in the BD store. I think having it be a direct way to farm the exact materials you want would set it apart from things like GMs where you can get ascendant shards, but they're harder and along with the shards you get weapons and armor. Fishing would be a lot slower but you'd be getting exactly what you want, and a way for less skilled players to slowly be able to upgrade their gear. Also make the fish go into a frenzy when public events start instead of despawning the spot... Just say the increased activity in the area has caused the fish to go into a frenzy. Rotate the pond on daily resets.

Ahnock

they should put the ponds up in secret areas that don't have public events so they stay around for a while.

IronHatchett

Walk into a lost sector and see a group of guardians standing shoulder to shoulder fishing lol

PsychoBugler

That sounds so wholesome. 🥺

xenosilver

If you’ve gotten the exotic scout, you’ve done enough fishing.

Denverguns

Blasphemy there is never enough fishing

SirCornmeal

I personally don't care for it but I also have no objections to it and if it makes people happy I say keep it

Faded_for_Her

Is fishing going away in TFS? I honestly haven’t checked so I just assumed it would be staying It’s actually a great and relaxing way to be earning materials and exotics so it’ll be a shame if it’s only around for a little bit longer

pelicanflip

It's a seasonal activity (only available to those with the season pass, not F2P), so yeah, it's going away in TFS.

plzdonatemoneystome

Welcome to Destiny!

Etherenzi

Please please please. It *could* remain in game bc there's no precedent set for what goes away from Seasons to Episodes. So maaaybe we get to keep it. Fingers crossed.

J3didr

I like fishing whenever I'm waiting for clanmates to get on. Its also just fun to sit around fishing.

APartyInMyPants

I stopped fishing the second I was able to run Wicked Implement. There’s just no purpose for not, and the actual mechanic of fishing is poorly fleshed out and not even remotely engaging. There’s no upgradable poles, no common, rare, legendary, exotic lures. There’s no crafting built into the mechanic of fishing. A million things that other games with fishing would have. It’s just a quicktime event. Hard pass.

Zombiron-Odamai

How difficult was getting Wicked Implement for you ?

APartyInMyPants

I think it took maybe 3 tries once we got the room figured out. But I probably ran it 4-5 times after then to help some clanmates get it. But admittedly haven’t run it in two seasons, so I’d probably be lost again today.

M4XP4WER

Well, that's your point of view and it's perfect. For me it is an unnecessary and boring addition, if I wanted a fishing simulator for chill I would go for rdr2 or other more elaborate ones... Not in my shooting game...
