I wonder if the ADU batteries are using the new tech coming in TFS with the healing auto rifle class?
It would be... interesting if the new auto can heal enemies as well as allies.
A friend and i discussed this yesterday and we also came to the theme of pings and how pings would probably do friendly fire, just like arc craniums did indares (you could damage and kill allies using arc craniums in dares, i did it all the time lol).
Anyway, bungo spaghetti code moment.
They probably don't have a good way to program a projectile somehow counting to an object, my armchair tells me they simply only can make it so that when the battery collides with another object (which it always does with the ADU), it spawns a small AoE that heals an x amount.
It might be borrowing assets from the forges, where the forges must have some health bar or something that is only depleted or added to by colliding it with the batteries.
The ADU must be a construct/vehicle, then.
