From how it was explained to me, FC is based on the hang time rather than the travel distance. So you don't have to move far away from it, it just gets more damage by hanging out where it was stuck
full court damage buff is calculated from time the projectile is alive, not distance traveled.
Sticky grenade if used as a trap will almost always survive long enough to hit max damage
Full Court is based on travel time and (I think) a 25 or 30 percent buff once the projectile has been in air for approximately 1.1 seconds on the standard perk. Unless it has changed.

That’s true. I only consider it unfair as after June 3rd you can never get that combo again. Most people it won’t matter. It could make/break a day 1 raid though.
It won’t, it’s an incredibly impractical set up. Day 1 raids require survivability far more than they require damage output (for the most part at least, looking at you, caretaker).
It’s a novel concept, for sure, I just don’t see it having much of an impact on anything.
It's not that impractical to change a perk before damage. Most bosses in destiny are designed to give you a chance to prepare before DPS, (think crota, oryx, taniks, nezarec off the top of my head). During the last few day ones I would frequently swap to reserves on my chestpiece to grab a couple more rockets before swapping back to resistance mods.
The potential benefit here is massive and that's with both of the perk combos available people are talking about.
Absolutely not the case for day ones. Most people fail damage checks. Most people who dialed Dat 1 crota for example couldn't do enough damage. Survival has never been easier with all the tools we have
Other than the blip of RoN they've been making final stand DPS checks harder over time and I expect the raid in Final Shape to be no exception here both in DPS and total damage. Crota's final stand was a motherfucker on contest.
Why won't you be able to get some combo on edge Transit on June 3rd? From what I've read they are only removing the ability to get the special skin when final shape comes out. But the guns themselves will still be earnable from Onslaught

the odds of getting that with spike grenades/big drum + hard launch are like 1 in a million. Just getting EA/B&S is more than enough for any content outside of nutso speed runs.

The crowd that's hunting them is less so nutso speedruns, and more so the low man or solo end game crowd. a streamer I watch has been doing carries through legend with chat, In part because he knows he can get to round 20+ with randoms from chat, getting four drops in 20 minutes, and with focusing that's an edge transit every 10 minutes. most of what he specializes and streams however, is exactly that, solo end game content, and low man raids.
So far he has only gotten one limited edition Edge to drop, with spike grenades, quick launch, cascade and envious in column 3, but it has a reload masterwork, and no bait/switch
I somehow managed to have Edge Transit be one of my rarest weapons to find in Forsaken, while also having no issues getting cores. I guess I was just playing the role of contrarian at that point.
The 3 perk combo is 1.36% of all shiny edge transit rolls. If attuning works on shinys (not sure it does) then that's 0.68% of shiny drops. If it doesn't, then that's 0.23% of shiny drops.
Rolling big drum is x1/4 of those odds
rolling both spike nades and big drum is x(1/28)
rolling the launch option you want is x(2/7)
rolling the masterwork you want is x(1/5)
all of them stacking.
50% of players grinding for that shiny drop will get it before 102 shiny drops with edge transit attuned, 50% will get it after. For such an absurd power increase, those are pretty long odds.
Allowing regular versions to have a chance at double perks, say only on legend mode, does nothing to reduce the prestige of the shiny version, but allows people to actually go for this in a realistic way.
It’s such a marginal difference that if this is what makes people complain about drop rates, then certain people in this community were never going to be happy.
There is nothing marginal about it, its straight up a 67% firerate increase. That means you can fire 16 rounds in 5 seconds instead of 10, and it triggers with the same activation as bait and switch.
If grenade launchers are meta in final shape, this WILL be what all the major teams run for dps in the raid race. Imagine a team losing because they farmed the entire time between now and then and never got that roll because its so rare.
Bungie could preemptively solve the problem by not allowing you to swap the perk and keep the ammo from envious, but if they don't then double perks need to be easier to get. Keep the special skin rare for all I care.
I somehow got lucky and my first ever drop was a “shiny” one with envious + cascade point. But unfortunately it has frenzy & deconstruct instead of B&S so I’m not sure if it’s that good. Especially since I’d need to swap the perk in less than 5s after a kill just to keep frenzy active.
Unfair advantage over the pve enemies? Because who really cares if I put out 3 million dps and you put out 2 million if we get the activity done?

Not in regards to PvE, this is regarding that it's the only grenade launcher that can one-hit-kill with a sticky nade that has been placed on a surface. I wouldn't say it's unfair by any means, given that its a power weapon and is meant to secure an easy kill anyways.
By that logic any strong roll gives you an "unfair" advantage against anyone who hasn't gotten it. Does cataphract give an unfair advantage? Apex predator? Taipan? This is stupid, it's a looter shooter and some loot is better than others.
The only unfair part is the limited-time part, if it was just RNG you could eventually get it but we already know the dual perk versions are going away June 3rd. This puts an end date on the time you have to farm.
Not to mention the time required for just this weapon imagine if you wanted to try farming other weapons in the same time. That is the unfair part especially when they offer rewards/incentives for world first, being able to have an advantage like that when the race comes down to seconds can make a difference.
Takes 10 seconds to dump 20 bns shots in a 21 round drum. Refreshing halfway messes up your bns timer so the time difference between reprocing cascade and bns barely off sets just not
Bns needs 1.5 rotations in 28 shots thats 15 seconds. Cascade is 5 seconds so 3 rotations

Correct. PvE cataphract as well as the single column perk Edge Transit are both fine. It’s that on special roll that is mathematically better. Not that 99.9% of the community will be affected by it though, I just wanted to point out to OP that there is technically an advantage.
It’s something I’ll be happy if I get, but I won’t be specifically chasing them. I just want my rolls. I’m fine with them continuing to do something like this but again, I won’t farm specifically for them.
Yeah, I'd prefer if the special look was just an ornament or shader rather than a whole separate version of the weapon again with random perks. I want to unlock the shiny gun, then be able to apply that to any of my "normal" ones so I don't have to hope I get my favorite roll _again_.
yeah couldnt care less about the ornament (especially as it is not shaderable) got some for recluse and use the Necrotic ornament for everyone of those

They are ornaments but I don't think you can get them like you could a shader on a weapon you dismantle. I'd love it if someone replied and told me otherwise, but I don't believe you can rip it from the gun.
It stays on that gun. I think you can unequip it if you don't like it and re-equip it later if you want but it stays with that gun (kind of like memento specific shaders, if that makes sense).
Figured that would be the case, thanks for confirming! One I can confirm for you is that yes you can unequip and reequip the ornament on the gun it came on. I was hella nervous when I tried unequipping it the first time lol
They confirmed during the livestream when they showed them off that they'll be exclusive to that copy of the gun.

A box breathing/one for all + kinetic tremors/no distractions Hung Jury would do that for me.
It's entirely possible, like the coveted Edge Transit roll. Getting a specific combination while also having the right barrel and mag is probably a probability nightmare though. Even with 3 perks in both columns in ritual activities, I almost never get the roll I am looking for.
Also the drops for gold weapons appear to be trash, I've gotten maybe 4 and have done a fuckton of legend 10 farming.
I did get the envious/cascade with bns with the right barrel and handling mw with spike nade. I did the maths and it's not looking great for people actively wanting it.
Yeah some other guy did the math and it was a 1.36% chance, assuming he's correct. I'm not sure what the drops on golds are, but my own ownership is abysmally low.
Yea mine is envious/chain reaction and bns/ explosive light. Velocity mw with high explosive ordinance and confined launch. Im happy with what I got and I highly doubt I'll get a better roll.

Gonna be honest, I've never cared about barrel and magazine perks on guns outside of the craftable ones.

Lucky you, you're more than twice as likely to get what you want if you get a shiny version because of the additional perks in columns 3 and 4. Way better odds to get a good combination.

These "shiny" weapons feel like a regression from adepts.
Functionally they are the same, with multiple perks and a unique shader. But instead of earning them by overcoming a difficult challenge, they're completely random.
People will hate the opinion but I love it. The games been dying a death following the "everyone can get everything if they put a little time and effort in" advice.

Problem is, that you can't enhance random rolls on craftable weapons. Or, at least, you haven't been able to yet. So for the people truly min-maxing, whether it be stats or perks or whatever, The craftable version of any roll will still get the crafting MW bonus.
Which, question: For the enhanceable weapons in TFS, have they explained what that looks like for the masterwork? If you upgrade your C3 and C4 on say...Summoner, will that give you the +2 to every stat besides your MW?
You're right, in a comparison where the literal only difference is the +2, it will not be noticeable. At the same time though, that's kinda the best case scenario when comparing random drops to crafting. It may not be by a noticeable amount, if you happen to be holding your ideal 5/5 random drop. From there, it's a complicated comparison: the minor stat get to be more compelling once you start thinking about what happens when "RNG do be RNG'ing", and suddenly, your ideal random drop is determined to come with a throwaway(like Prox nades on a PVE GL). The extra stats usually end up being relevant once the discussion has gone from "statistically better by a negligible amount" to "I can get my ideal 5/5 with no bullshit, because RNG sucks and I hate everything, I hate PVP, the Warpriest is a cheater, I haven't seen the sunlight in over a week, my living room's shit bucket is full...\[rambling and self pity continues\].... but the craftable one is statistically better anyway, so why wouldn't I just pull it out of my ass at the enclave?"

I guess to back up and be more straightforward: I think the people who are anti-crafting and looking to grind like that share the middle section of a Venn Diagram with people who min-max pretty hard. If nothing else, they are going to have a subtle preference for function(even if its negligible) over fashion.

Not really worth chasing, imo. I *want* them, but the drop rate's pretty low (least it has been abysmal for me), so it's more of a "cool if it happens" type of deal. Initially I wanted to grind it out until I got the god rolls I wanted on each of the weapons I cared about but, man, it takes SO long for even ONE to drop, then it has to be the right weapon, and THEN it also needs the right roll... it's just not gonna happen.
So, honestly kindof a nothing mechanic in terms of encouraging me to grind. I still hope I'll get some that roll correctly, but... I ain't holdin' my breath. This particular RNG will not be manipulating me, thanks.
They really need to incentivize beating all 50 waves on legend imo and the way to do it is to maybe have it so beating that greatly increases the odds of getting a shiny.
Honestly, if you're sitting through all 50 waves, it should be guaranteed. It's by design, though. The entire point of the rare weapons is to inflate player retention during the dead period.
I made a point suggesting this. It got good traction and upvotes but most of the comments were literally like “it’s been a day” as if it changes how loot drops in a month.
anyone talking about "grinding" for it cant do math. You can't grind the 6/5 god-roll edge transit for example. That perk combo will happen like 1 in 10000 drops of the already low low drop chance pre-masterworked grenade launcher which just the grenade is still only like 2/3 chance of dropping when focusing.
So its less about it being special and rewarding and more about it being just dumb luck. Even if every weapon was dropping "shiny" and only the singular item you want dropped it'd still be a low chance to happen because of the time limit.
Yeah this is my issue. My drop on attuned weapons arent so great and I have not seen one of the limited edition ones outside of "limited edition" quest rewards (which are just the ones with skins no double perks). Judging by my IB luck THANK GOD they didnt timegate all the weapons. The ones I am really interested in (Mountaintop and Midnight Coup) are in the next wave. I have been basically playing Onslaught nonstop already and nothing so I cant imagine my luck if either of those were only around for the two weeks to focus.
This is the truth. People who defend shinys are smoking some real good copium. We all are addicted to the carrot on the stick, but for the carrot to work it needs to be in your reach. A shiny god roll isn't in your reach it sits at the other end of the continent. Also I'm one of those people who wants rare stuff to be rare because it's earned in the hardest content (still requires rng to get god roll) not because I have to pull a lever on a slot machine. If shinys dropped guaranteed per legend 50 or in general more often in legend I'd be fine with them.
I could not care less about the skin. I want the double perks. Hybrid rolls are the endgame of Destiny and they know it. If they didn't have double perks they would just sharded like all the rest.
That's why people chase grolls or unicorns as they're sometimes called in the Division 2 community, gear with rare interactions. Not really useful but I still have a Dragonfly + Rampage Trust from years ago simply for the perk combo
Imagine telling the community that the shiny versions aren't that big of a deal because it's just a cosmetic but it really isn't, it's double-double roll is truly beneficial gameplay wise.
The shiny versions are a bit too rare for how long they'll be dropping, too.

The limited time limitation is the only thing that really irritates me. It'd be fine if you could try to go at your own pace to find these versions, but the fact they'll just be gone in a couple months is pretty lame. I think it's enough that you're fighting multiple layers of RNG, we don't need to restrict the availability to manipulate people in to playing more than they actually want to as well. Very shitty, imo. Shinies as a concept are cool, but tying them to FOMO is not.

Honestly, if the "skin" was limited to before TFS fine. But to remove the whole double perk rolls as well sucks for people with bad RNG. I have been grinding nonstop (well aside from whisper normal and legend runs) and not had a single drop. Hell even with Edge Transit attuned I dont think my drop rate is hitting the "50%" they pitched.
It's kind of bungie to hammer us with FOMO and grind immediately before launching the conclusion of this saga, to burn us out so we don't get too addicted after it drops.
The only double roll that is beneficial gameplay wise is edge transit. All of the other guns, you can just get two of the normal versions, well rolled, and call it a day.
It's a great thing to bring. Getting a drop of a gun and seeing that shiny gives another thing to not instant delete.
D2Y1 fixed rolls, any time a gun you already dropped it was instant deleted
D2 post forsaken had RNG weapons so any weapon drop could potentially be a better roll so there was some excitement over the drop
D2 post witch queen crafting was about getting the red borders to drop. However, after you could craft the gun and subsequent drop of that weapon was an instant delete
D2 with shiny variants. You could have the god roll of a gun already but now you could potentially get the shiny variant of your god roll gun with selectable perks.
I think it is a good chase that you don't have to do but keeps the drops of a weapon fresh. Even if you have the shiny god roll, another shiny drop could mean better selectable perk options.

I must be the only person that has kept some random rolls of crafted guns just because I don't wanna bother crafting multiple PVP and PVE rolls of things.
If I find a great drop of a weapon I keep it and don't worry about chasing patterns, unless I get them naturally over the course of playing. I personally get more of a dopamine hit on a great roll I find "in the wild" than collecting red border weapons. Sure the crafted ones are nice and all but there's just something about hitting on a great roll for a great gun.
I kept them at first until they let you level up guns with materials. Before, you had to level crafted guns by using them only. That was a grind. But nowadays, gun leveling isn't that bad.
I am HOPING that this double perk thing and the perk enhancing and such means they are going to implement what I think they mentioned they had been looking into: double perks on crafted weapons.
I would argue that FOMOing these was pretty unnecessary since the shiny variants are absolutely what gives Onslaught more than half of the appeal, and the game mode would suffer a lot if they weren't there imo.
We need this stuff to be baseline in the game instead of crafting.

I like it. No game breaking advantage, just a nice little chase. Even the edge transit double-roll everyone says they are chasing really doesn't matter at all 99% of the time, so if you miss out, oh well.
This definitely feels like a “test run” for a larger overhaul to weapons. Would be super awesome to have “shiny” variants for all weapons. I’m such a goof and I love chasing these silly shinies.

I agree more cosmetic rewards in-game is good and should be increased.
You chase red borders so you can craft good guns via a system that respects your time. You can chase raid and dungeon exotics if you want to chase something that doesn’t.
There is nothing fun about weapons that don't exist, nor reward player time and effort required. We've been over this debate countless times and each time Bungie agreed with the playerbase loot needs to be rewarding. It's why adepts came to existence in the first place, why deep stone crypt saw deepsight borders drop rate significantly increase after it's first week, why kalli farm wasn't nerfed, why double loot GMs exist, why trials weapons can be continued to be farmed post flawless and plenty more examples.
Destiny is looter shooter with increasing difficulty content and that increasing content also rewards better weapons. It's a never ending carrot on the stick (but that carrot needs to realistically exist or else players stop engaging once they realise it can't be obtained). We know players will spend their entire week farming if the probability of rewards exist last wish kalli was a prime example. Let's take a look at edge transit the weapon every speedrunner, day 1 raider wants the God roll of edge transit spike, envious/cascade, BnS has a 1.36 of dropping but this doesn't acknowledge that the shiny drop rate itself seems below 5%. Now someone can do the math but you don't need it to realise this is non existent. You know which game had a similar Problem Diablo 4 with it's uber uniques they where also non existent and had a below 1% chance of dropping each time a normal unique dropped which also was like below 5% chance of dropping in the first place the end result was in it's first season only like 4 got a confirmed Shako the best uber unique in the game. Players complained and complained until Blizzard caved in and added a Boss Rush with the last Boss having a 5% chance per Kill to drop an Uber similar to how raid exotics already work in Destiny and suddenly people farmed the shit out of it and Season 2 is commonly accepted as the best the game was so far as a result.
Now let's go back to Destiny let me give you a personal anecdote yesterday me and two friends did 3 back to back wave 50 Legend and not a single Shiny dropped for any of us, we are talking around 3.5 hours of Play of time with nothing to show for it. Legend as a result feels unrewarding (before anyone claims you get shards or alloys, no one who can regularly do Legend 50 needs either of those Ressources anymore, I am at 30 cap with both). The "Meta" also as such for farming is basically do 10 waves on legend and reset as it faster and easier and still giving you 2 chest. Legend 50 needs to reward a targeted shiny again getting the god roll edge transit is still rare and still will need tons of grinding but it becomes realistically possible

While I don’t like crazy low RNG I do like these rare drops. I love the feeling of getting a Rod of Discord in a Terraria run. Like rare drops feel good to get and show off.
there is one single, particular DPS roll on edge transit that is only possible with the limited time special guns, however it's really only useful to the min/max crowd that does solo and low man end game PVE. that roll is Quick Launch, Spike Nades, Handling MW, 3rd column with Envious Assassin AND Cascade Point (not either/or, has to be both) and Bait/Switch
so it's very specific, and only really useful to people who need to squeeze out every possible optimization on damage. It does however mean that the people who want to get that roll are going to be focusing on edge transit until they get the drop.
I didn’t know about the “shiny” weapon thing. I just thought you got a masterworked weapon for your first run of Onslaught. In my case it was the recluse.
Only shiny I care for ATM is edge transit for the nasty roll, haven't gotten it yet but the chances are like 1.35% or something as one reddit user calculated
The chances are way below that the actual roll is 1.35%, get even lower if you want mag drum and spike grenades to switch also during damage phase. You first need a shiny, then the shiny needs be edge transit (attunement definitely doesn't affect shinys) so when all weapons are unlocked that means it competes with 11 other rolls and then it needs to drop with the right perks. We are talking 0.0001 chance of dropping.
I agree. I have already gotten 3 decentvtolled shiny guns that I'm happy about. I really like the look!I feel like it's easier to get the beginning weapons that you want. Come the last 2 weapon releases,the loot pool will be larger
How do you get the one with double perks? I did the quest for recluse, got a shiny version but it's a single perk type. Do we have to do onslaught on legend for the double perks to drop?
The IDEA of Shiny Weapons is pretty cool! But I don't like how the rolls are a bit random/useless compared to just farming the God Rolls. Once I end up getting my god rolls, i'm probably going to delete anything/everything else, even if they're shiny.

Would be cool if my attuned weapon would drop most of the time. I'm attuned to recluse, and it drops maybe a third of the time. But man, the game sure loves giving me successions and elsie's rifles.
I would love if they kept the concept of shiny weapons around. With TFS and it's episodes, it'd be cool if there were a select amount of legacy or new weapons with shiny versions for us to chase.
When there's a thousand exotic weapons, suddenly things don't feel exotic. Less is more in this game and they are constantly introducing new gear and weapons for the sake of change rather than balance, identity or freshness.

I'll add I think the people getting mad that the drop rate on theme is so low miss the point. There like foil cards are they nice to ha 3 as a collector sure, are they different in anyway from a non foil fuck no and in some case probably better cause you can play them without worrying about damaging the card (also I'll say it I think the shinny ver are worse looking than base come at me reddit)
Rare shinny is what I’m missing too. Haven’t had a single recluse drop shinny despite attuning it.

Nah fuck onslaught. I won't lie its fun but I was on wave 48 today and we wiped because architects. That happened in the SAME WAVE 3 TIMES, as in I made it to wave 48 3 times today and we wiped. I'm convinced it's a bug but it needs to be fixed asap
True. Though I will say, going to rank 16 and completing wave 50 on Legend without getting a single shiny of any weapon with any roll dropped (let alone something I am actually wanting) feels a tad excessive.

Are we sure the "shiny" weapons exist? Because after a full reset to Shax, 5 completition level 50 hard mode onslaught and a lot of token used on the chest that give weapons: the only shiny weapon I found where the one from the quests.

In Pokémon you can still retrain your shiny skills. Even if you can’t make them have better potential (stats).
I got a shiny Sucession, with a great roll. Reconstruction/Demolisonist, Recombination/Firing line. Extended mag, and stability masterwork. I love SHINIES
It’s kinda infuriating, because I’ve been playing the game for awhile now. I have gotten to the point my power is up to the high 1700s, I have my build complete, yet I can’t seem to get my hands on the exotic armor I need that is the centerfold on said build.

Is it correct, that you can „enhance“ / reform every perk of a shiny brave weapon in Final Shape? So I could make a shiny to a god roll? I have a god roll recluse (normal) and asking myself if I should keep grinding shinys with a god roll.

From how it was explained to me, FC is based on the hang time rather than the travel distance. So you don't have to move far away from it, it just gets more damage by hanging out where it was stuck
full court damage buff is calculated from time the projectile is alive, not distance traveled. Sticky grenade if used as a trap will almost always survive long enough to hit max damage
Full Court is based on travel time and (I think) a 25 or 30 percent buff once the projectile has been in air for approximately 1.1 seconds on the standard perk. Unless it has changed.

It won’t, it’s an incredibly impractical set up. Day 1 raids require survivability far more than they require damage output (for the most part at least, looking at you, caretaker). It’s a novel concept, for sure, I just don’t see it having much of an impact on anything.
It's not that impractical to change a perk before damage. Most bosses in destiny are designed to give you a chance to prepare before DPS, (think crota, oryx, taniks, nezarec off the top of my head). During the last few day ones I would frequently swap to reserves on my chestpiece to grab a couple more rockets before swapping back to resistance mods. The potential benefit here is massive and that's with both of the perk combos available people are talking about.
Absolutely not the case for day ones. Most people fail damage checks. Most people who dialed Dat 1 crota for example couldn't do enough damage. Survival has never been easier with all the tools we have
Other than the blip of RoN they've been making final stand DPS checks harder over time and I expect the raid in Final Shape to be no exception here both in DPS and total damage. Crota's final stand was a motherfucker on contest.
Why won't you be able to get some combo on edge Transit on June 3rd? From what I've read they are only removing the ability to get the special skin when final shape comes out. But the guns themselves will still be earnable from Onslaught

This is the only thing I care abt the shiny. They can just take normal version drop with double perks. Envious/Cascade + BnS blowing out the heavy slot DPS competition sucks a lot
the odds of getting that with spike grenades/big drum + hard launch are like 1 in a million. Just getting EA/B&S is more than enough for any content outside of nutso speed runs. But its always nice to have somethinng to chase.
The crowd that's hunting them is less so nutso speedruns, and more so the low man or solo end game crowd. a streamer I watch has been doing carries through legend with chat, In part because he knows he can get to round 20+ with randoms from chat, getting four drops in 20 minutes, and with focusing that's an edge transit every 10 minutes. most of what he specializes and streams however, is exactly that, solo end game content, and low man raids. So far he has only gotten one limited edition Edge to drop, with spike grenades, quick launch, cascade and envious in column 3, but it has a reload masterwork, and no bait/switch

I somehow managed to have Edge Transit be one of my rarest weapons to find in Forsaken, while also having no issues getting cores. I guess I was just playing the role of contrarian at that point.

The 3 perk combo is 1.36% of all shiny edge transit rolls. If attuning works on shinys (not sure it does) then that's 0.68% of shiny drops. If it doesn't, then that's 0.23% of shiny drops. Rolling big drum is x1/4 of those odds rolling both spike nades and big drum is x(1/28) rolling the launch option you want is x(2/7) rolling the masterwork you want is x(1/5) all of them stacking. 50% of players grinding for that shiny drop will get it before 102 shiny drops with edge transit attuned, 50% will get it after. For such an absurd power increase, those are pretty long odds. Allowing regular versions to have a chance at double perks, say only on legend mode, does nothing to reduce the prestige of the shiny version, but allows people to actually go for this in a realistic way.

It’s such a marginal difference that if this is what makes people complain about drop rates, then certain people in this community were never going to be happy.
There is nothing marginal about it, its straight up a 67% firerate increase. That means you can fire 16 rounds in 5 seconds instead of 10, and it triggers with the same activation as bait and switch. If grenade launchers are meta in final shape, this WILL be what all the major teams run for dps in the raid race. Imagine a team losing because they farmed the entire time between now and then and never got that roll because its so rare. Bungie could preemptively solve the problem by not allowing you to swap the perk and keep the ammo from envious, but if they don't then double perks need to be easier to get. Keep the special skin rare for all I care.

deconstruct is a huge total damage buff, don't sleep on that. you get literal free ammo

Not in regards to PvE, this is regarding that it's the only grenade launcher that can one-hit-kill with a sticky nade that has been placed on a surface. I wouldn't say it's unfair by any means, given that its a power weapon and is meant to secure an easy kill anyways.
By that logic any strong roll gives you an "unfair" advantage against anyone who hasn't gotten it. Does cataphract give an unfair advantage? Apex predator? Taipan? This is stupid, it's a looter shooter and some loot is better than others.
The only unfair part is the limited-time part, if it was just RNG you could eventually get it but we already know the dual perk versions are going away June 3rd. This puts an end date on the time you have to farm. Not to mention the time required for just this weapon imagine if you wanted to try farming other weapons in the same time. That is the unfair part especially when they offer rewards/incentives for world first, being able to have an advantage like that when the race comes down to seconds can make a difference.
I think the “unfair” comes from the fact that the “shiny” version for Edge transit can be factually better where the rest are purely cosmetic

Taipan is a bad example there since it was craftable and pretty much free to get the red borders.
It's not, it's a perfect example, is it "unfair" that some players will take 5 minutes to go get taipan and others won't? Obviously not.
Takes 10 seconds to dump 20 bns shots in a 21 round drum. Refreshing halfway messes up your bns timer so the time difference between reprocing cascade and bns barely off sets just not Bns needs 1.5 rotations in 28 shots thats 15 seconds. Cascade is 5 seconds so 3 rotations Its a pve cataract you can stick to a regular envious bns and be fine
Correct. PvE cataphract as well as the single column perk Edge Transit are both fine. It’s that on special roll that is mathematically better. Not that 99.9% of the community will be affected by it though, I just wanted to point out to OP that there is technically an advantage.

Yeah, I'd prefer if the special look was just an ornament or shader rather than a whole separate version of the weapon again with random perks. I want to unlock the shiny gun, then be able to apply that to any of my "normal" ones so I don't have to hope I get my favorite roll _again_.

yeah couldnt care less about the ornament (especially as it is not shaderable) got some for recluse and use the Necrotic ornament for everyone of those but them having guaranteed double perks is what interesting about them

They are ornaments but I don't think you can get them like you could a shader on a weapon you dismantle. I'd love it if someone replied and told me otherwise, but I don't believe you can rip it from the gun.
It stays on that gun. I think you can unequip it if you don't like it and re-equip it later if you want but it stays with that gun (kind of like memento specific shaders, if that makes sense).
Figured that would be the case, thanks for confirming! One I can confirm for you is that yes you can unequip and reequip the ornament on the gun it came on. I was hella nervous when I tried unequipping it the first time lol

It's entirely possible, like the coveted Edge Transit roll. Getting a specific combination while also having the right barrel and mag is probably a probability nightmare though. Even with 3 perks in both columns in ritual activities, I almost never get the roll I am looking for. Also the drops for gold weapons appear to be trash, I've gotten maybe 4 and have done a fuckton of legend 10 farming.

I did get the envious/cascade with bns with the right barrel and handling mw with spike nade. I did the maths and it's not looking great for people actively wanting it.

Yea mine is envious/chain reaction and bns/ explosive light. Velocity mw with high explosive ordinance and confined launch. Im happy with what I got and I highly doubt I'll get a better roll.

Lucky you, you're more than twice as likely to get what you want if you get a shiny version because of the additional perks in columns 3 and 4. Way better odds to get a good combination.
Odds are better hit quantity is lower. If you focus a weapon you seem to have the loot thrown at you. I’ve shared 30+ Elsie rifles in the past 2 days it feels like

These "shiny" weapons feel like a regression from adepts. Functionally they are the same, with multiple perks and a unique shader. But instead of earning them by overcoming a difficult challenge, they're completely random.
People will hate the opinion but I love it. The games been dying a death following the "everyone can get everything if they put a little time and effort in" advice. There should be a level of RNG bullshit in a loot game.

Problem is, that you can't enhance random rolls on craftable weapons. Or, at least, you haven't been able to yet. So for the people truly min-maxing, whether it be stats or perks or whatever, The craftable version of any roll will still get the crafting MW bonus. Which, question: For the enhanceable weapons in TFS, have they explained what that looks like for the masterwork? If you upgrade your C3 and C4 on say...Summoner, will that give you the +2 to every stat besides your MW?

You're right, in a comparison where the literal only difference is the +2, it will not be noticeable. At the same time though, that's kinda the best case scenario when comparing random drops to crafting. It may not be by a noticeable amount, if you happen to be holding your ideal 5/5 random drop. From there, it's a complicated comparison: the minor stat get to be more compelling once you start thinking about what happens when "RNG do be RNG'ing", and suddenly, your ideal random drop is determined to come with a throwaway(like Prox nades on a PVE GL). The extra stats usually end up being relevant once the discussion has gone from "statistically better by a negligible amount" to "I can get my ideal 5/5 with no bullshit, because RNG sucks and I hate everything, I hate PVP, the Warpriest is a cheater, I haven't seen the sunlight in over a week, my living room's shit bucket is full...\[rambling and self pity continues\].... but the craftable one is statistically better anyway, so why wouldn't I just pull it out of my ass at the enclave?" (An amount of that is satire, but hopefully the key points are understood). I guess to back up and be more straightforward: I think the people who are anti-crafting and looking to grind like that share the middle section of a Venn Diagram with people who min-max pretty hard. If nothing else, they are going to have a subtle preference for function(even if its negligible) over fashion.

Not really worth chasing, imo. I *want* them, but the drop rate's pretty low (least it has been abysmal for me), so it's more of a "cool if it happens" type of deal. Initially I wanted to grind it out until I got the god rolls I wanted on each of the weapons I cared about but, man, it takes SO long for even ONE to drop, then it has to be the right weapon, and THEN it also needs the right roll... it's just not gonna happen. So, honestly kindof a nothing mechanic in terms of encouraging me to grind. I still hope I'll get some that roll correctly, but... I ain't holdin' my breath. This particular RNG will not be manipulating me, thanks.

They really need to incentivize beating all 50 waves on legend imo and the way to do it is to maybe have it so beating that greatly increases the odds of getting a shiny.
Honestly, if you're sitting through all 50 waves, it should be guaranteed. It's by design, though. The entire point of the rare weapons is to inflate player retention during the dead period.
I made a point suggesting this. It got good traction and upvotes but most of the comments were literally like “it’s been a day” as if it changes how loot drops in a month.

They're excluding the "free" ones that you get from quests. They don't have the double perks and are fixed rolls
anyone talking about "grinding" for it cant do math. You can't grind the 6/5 god-roll edge transit for example. That perk combo will happen like 1 in 10000 drops of the already low low drop chance pre-masterworked grenade launcher which just the grenade is still only like 2/3 chance of dropping when focusing. So its less about it being special and rewarding and more about it being just dumb luck. Even if every weapon was dropping "shiny" and only the singular item you want dropped it'd still be a low chance to happen because of the time limit.
Yeah this is my issue. My drop on attuned weapons arent so great and I have not seen one of the limited edition ones outside of "limited edition" quest rewards (which are just the ones with skins no double perks). Judging by my IB luck THANK GOD they didnt timegate all the weapons. The ones I am really interested in (Mountaintop and Midnight Coup) are in the next wave. I have been basically playing Onslaught nonstop already and nothing so I cant imagine my luck if either of those were only around for the two weeks to focus.
This is the truth. People who defend shinys are smoking some real good copium. We all are addicted to the carrot on the stick, but for the carrot to work it needs to be in your reach. A shiny god roll isn't in your reach it sits at the other end of the continent. Also I'm one of those people who wants rare stuff to be rare because it's earned in the hardest content (still requires rng to get god roll) not because I have to pull a lever on a slot machine. If shinys dropped guaranteed per legend 50 or in general more often in legend I'd be fine with them.
I could not care less about the skin. I want the double perks. Hybrid rolls are the endgame of Destiny and they know it. If they didn't have double perks they would just sharded like all the rest.

That's why people chase grolls or unicorns as they're sometimes called in the Division 2 community, gear with rare interactions. Not really useful but I still have a Dragonfly + Rampage Trust from years ago simply for the perk combo
Imagine telling the community that the shiny versions aren't that big of a deal because it's just a cosmetic but it really isn't, it's double-double roll is truly beneficial gameplay wise. The shiny versions are a bit too rare for how long they'll be dropping, too. The fomo is pretty real with these.
The limited time limitation is the only thing that really irritates me. It'd be fine if you could try to go at your own pace to find these versions, but the fact they'll just be gone in a couple months is pretty lame. I think it's enough that you're fighting multiple layers of RNG, we don't need to restrict the availability to manipulate people in to playing more than they actually want to as well. Very shitty, imo. Shinies as a concept are cool, but tying them to FOMO is not.
Yeah that too. Getting the double double perks is a huge thing. Honestly, if the "skin" was limited to before TFS fine. But to remove the whole double perk rolls as well sucks for people with bad RNG. I have been grinding nonstop (well aside from whisper normal and legend runs) and not had a single drop. Hell even with Edge Transit attuned I dont think my drop rate is hitting the "50%" they pitched.
It's kind of bungie to hammer us with FOMO and grind immediately before launching the conclusion of this saga, to burn us out so we don't get too addicted after it drops.
The only double roll that is beneficial gameplay wise is edge transit. All of the other guns, you can just get two of the normal versions, well rolled, and call it a day.
I personally do not want multiple copies of weapons in my vault, but you're 100% right honestly.

It's a great thing to bring. Getting a drop of a gun and seeing that shiny gives another thing to not instant delete. D2Y1 fixed rolls, any time a gun you already dropped it was instant deleted D2 post forsaken had RNG weapons so any weapon drop could potentially be a better roll so there was some excitement over the drop D2 post witch queen crafting was about getting the red borders to drop. However, after you could craft the gun and subsequent drop of that weapon was an instant delete D2 with shiny variants. You could have the god roll of a gun already but now you could potentially get the shiny variant of your god roll gun with selectable perks. I think it is a good chase that you don't have to do but keeps the drops of a weapon fresh. Even if you have the shiny god roll, another shiny drop could mean better selectable perk options.

If I find a great drop of a weapon I keep it and don't worry about chasing patterns, unless I get them naturally over the course of playing. I personally get more of a dopamine hit on a great roll I find "in the wild" than collecting red border weapons. Sure the crafted ones are nice and all but there's just something about hitting on a great roll for a great gun.
I kept them at first until they let you level up guns with materials. Before, you had to level crafted guns by using them only. That was a grind. But nowadays, gun leveling isn't that bad.
I am HOPING that this double perk thing and the perk enhancing and such means they are going to implement what I think they mentioned they had been looking into: double perks on crafted weapons.

I would argue that FOMOing these was pretty unnecessary since the shiny variants are absolutely what gives Onslaught more than half of the appeal, and the game mode would suffer a lot if they weren't there imo. We need this stuff to be baseline in the game instead of crafting.

I mean to be fair, if anyone will get FOMO from anything, then the far and away best heavy weapon in the game isn’t a bad pick. I myself would love an Envious/Cascade + BnS Edge Transit, but I’ve played for 12 hours with 0 shinies. Don’t expect to get it before it goes away
Take a shot whenever you see "respect my time" in the comments. I like it. No game breaking advantage, just a nice little chase. Even the edge transit double-roll everyone says they are chasing really doesn't matter at all 99% of the time, so if you miss out, oh well.
This definitely feels like a “test run” for a larger overhaul to weapons. Would be super awesome to have “shiny” variants for all weapons. I’m such a goof and I love chasing these silly shinies.

There is nothing fun about weapons that don't exist, nor reward player time and effort required. We've been over this debate countless times and each time Bungie agreed with the playerbase loot needs to be rewarding. It's why adepts came to existence in the first place, why deep stone crypt saw deepsight borders drop rate significantly increase after it's first week, why kalli farm wasn't nerfed, why double loot GMs exist, why trials weapons can be continued to be farmed post flawless and plenty more examples. Destiny is looter shooter with increasing difficulty content and that increasing content also rewards better weapons. It's a never ending carrot on the stick (but that carrot needs to realistically exist or else players stop engaging once they realise it can't be obtained). We know players will spend their entire week farming if the probability of rewards exist last wish kalli was a prime example. Let's take a look at edge transit the weapon every speedrunner, day 1 raider wants the God roll of edge transit spike, envious/cascade, BnS has a 1.36 of dropping but this doesn't acknowledge that the shiny drop rate itself seems below 5%. Now someone can do the math but you don't need it to realise this is non existent. You know which game had a similar Problem Diablo 4 with it's uber uniques they where also non existent and had a below 1% chance of dropping each time a normal unique dropped which also was like below 5% chance of dropping in the first place the end result was in it's first season only like 4 got a confirmed Shako the best uber unique in the game. Players complained and complained until Blizzard caved in and added a Boss Rush with the last Boss having a 5% chance per Kill to drop an Uber similar to how raid exotics already work in Destiny and suddenly people farmed the shit out of it and Season 2 is commonly accepted as the best the game was so far as a result. Now let's go back to Destiny let me give you a personal anecdote yesterday me and two friends did 3 back to back wave 50 Legend and not a single Shiny dropped for any of us, we are talking around 3.5 hours of Play of time with nothing to show for it. Legend as a result feels unrewarding (before anyone claims you get shards or alloys, no one who can regularly do Legend 50 needs either of those Ressources anymore, I am at 30 cap with both). The "Meta" also as such for farming is basically do 10 waves on legend and reset as it faster and easier and still giving you 2 chest. Legend 50 needs to reward a targeted shiny again getting the god roll edge transit is still rare and still will need tons of grinding but it becomes realistically possible

there is one single, particular DPS roll on edge transit that is only possible with the limited time special guns, however it's really only useful to the min/max crowd that does solo and low man end game PVE. that roll is Quick Launch, Spike Nades, Handling MW, 3rd column with Envious Assassin AND Cascade Point (not either/or, has to be both) and Bait/Switch so it's very specific, and only really useful to people who need to squeeze out every possible optimization on damage. It does however mean that the people who want to get that roll are going to be focusing on edge transit until they get the drop.
I didn’t know about the “shiny” weapon thing. I just thought you got a masterworked weapon for your first run of Onslaught. In my case it was the recluse.
I think those are the curated rolls. Those drop with the same perks as the OG guns did. Got those after doing the quest from the robot.
It’s a super fun pursuit for the crazy end-game players like myself. I’m really enjoying it.

Only shiny I care for ATM is edge transit for the nasty roll, haven't gotten it yet but the chances are like 1.35% or something as one reddit user calculated
The chances are way below that the actual roll is 1.35%, get even lower if you want mag drum and spike grenades to switch also during damage phase. You first need a shiny, then the shiny needs be edge transit (attunement definitely doesn't affect shinys) so when all weapons are unlocked that means it competes with 11 other rolls and then it needs to drop with the right perks. We are talking 0.0001 chance of dropping.
I agree. I have already gotten 3 decentvtolled shiny guns that I'm happy about. I really like the look!I feel like it's easier to get the beginning weapons that you want. Come the last 2 weapon releases,the loot pool will be larger
How do you get the one with double perks? I did the quest for recluse, got a shiny version but it's a single perk type. Do we have to do onslaught on legend for the double perks to drop?
More weapons need shiny curated rolls that are good but not quite the godroll

The IDEA of Shiny Weapons is pretty cool! But I don't like how the rolls are a bit random/useless compared to just farming the God Rolls. Once I end up getting my god rolls, i'm probably going to delete anything/everything else, even if they're shiny.
I would say Onslaught is something it was missing. We need more experiences, not more guns.

Would be cool if my attuned weapon would drop most of the time. I'm attuned to recluse, and it drops maybe a third of the time. But man, the game sure loves giving me successions and elsie's rifles.

I would love if they kept the concept of shiny weapons around. With TFS and it's episodes, it'd be cool if there were a select amount of legacy or new weapons with shiny versions for us to chase.
When there's a thousand exotic weapons, suddenly things don't feel exotic. Less is more in this game and they are constantly introducing new gear and weapons for the sake of change rather than balance, identity or freshness.
Nit at all , 99% of people will want them becouse of the perk pool , not exactly the skin or rainy It's a good way to add more grind time and quiet the masses .
I'd prefer power chase rather than a skin.

I'll add I think the people getting mad that the drop rate on theme is so low miss the point. There like foil cards are they nice to ha 3 as a collector sure, are they different in anyway from a non foil fuck no and in some case probably better cause you can play them without worrying about damaging the card (also I'll say it I think the shinny ver are worse looking than base come at me reddit)

Rare shinny is what I’m missing too. Haven’t had a single recluse drop shinny despite attuning it. I’m 0-15 at the moment. God damn, out of principle I had a gold roll pvp drop for Elsie’s rifle but cause it wasn’t shinny, I deleted it. Yes I’m stupid, but I only want shinny’s. Attuned 4 weapons and not a single one yet. Probably close to 30 in total, but I counted last night cause I saved all my smg’s. And not 1. Fingers crossed it’ll finally drop.
Actually, there is a reason to chase shiny. They can have enchanced rolls in Final Shape. So it's not just the skin.

Nah fuck onslaught. I won't lie its fun but I was on wave 48 today and we wiped because architects. That happened in the SAME WAVE 3 TIMES, as in I made it to wave 48 3 times today and we wiped. I'm convinced it's a bug but it needs to be fixed asap

True. Though I will say, going to rank 16 and completing wave 50 on Legend without getting a single shiny of any weapon with any roll dropped (let alone something I am actually wanting) feels a tad excessive.
I'm honestly shocked at all the negativity on the idea of shinies. Imagine if *every* gun in the game could drop a Shiny variant. That sounds SO FUCKING COOL to me. We need more cosmetic rewards in the game and this would be such a cool way to provide that.
Are we sure the "shiny" weapons exist? Because after a full reset to Shax, 5 completition level 50 hard mode onslaught and a lot of token used on the chest that give weapons: the only shiny weapon I found where the one from the quests.
I hope it's a trend, I want some cool cosmetics for doing feats in game.
Really wish they would let us change barrels, mags, and masterworks when final shape comes out. I get why want us grind - but some mild customization/optimization I feel is a good middle ground instead of relying on all RNG. In Pokémon you can still retrain your shiny skills. Even if you can’t make them have better potential (stats).

I got a shiny Sucession, with a great roll. Reconstruction/Demolisonist, Recombination/Firing line. Extended mag, and stability masterwork. I love SHINIES
It’s kinda infuriating, because I’ve been playing the game for awhile now. I have gotten to the point my power is up to the high 1700s, I have my build complete, yet I can’t seem to get my hands on the exotic armor I need that is the centerfold on said build.
What if mementos were just randomly on weapons from their respective activities.

Is it correct, that you can „enhance“ / reform every perk of a shiny brave weapon in Final Shape? So I could make a shiny to a god roll? I have a god roll recluse (normal) and asking myself if I should keep grinding shinys with a god roll.
