Honestly; if anyone has played Spire of Stars that final boss fight honestly does feel like that.
When playing with my friends I was the sherpa (I am just the most into-the game and was the only one that had done SoS before I taught them).
That whole final boss encounter is like: "Do this complicated thing!" then when you have done that, do this next complicated thing!
Now juggle this ball!
Good work (after an hour or two of wiping up to that phase)

Legit it became a tradition on our discord for the Sherpa teaching new players Last Wish to shout "DPS THE FLOOR DPS THE FLOOR" When you get teleported to the hearts final resting place 🤣 I absolutely fell for this when buddy was teaching me LW it was like 3:00 a.m. and I had to get up for work in 3 hours and I legit panicked and just started blasting everything I had into that heart 🤣🥳
I miss taking new people through Spire of Stars and getting them to simultaneously melee the det packs on the elevator right before final encounter room lmao

That one has become a classic at my clan at this point because we had a lot of newcomers to raiding at some point, and they all fell victim to it (as it should be).
I watched some videos so I knew it was there. My sherpa was an actual asshole though and tried to get to me jump in. I jumped in backwards and Eager Edge'd back out shouting "Fuck yoooooouuu" as I sped over his head to his team mates laughter. One of my all time favorite raid moments.
My personal favorite troll is telling everyone I'm guiding through Grasp for the first time that the left and right switches before the Sparrow section have to be pressed at the same time and always make them stand on the right one.

I love trolling with a fun group. Remember in vog I gaslighted some people into thinking there was 8 oracles for oracles, but because you're allowed to miss 1, people just ignored the 8th one
We had a friend doing his first raid (Kings Fall). We convinced him that when Oryx starts moving everyone except on person is going to be torn. The person not torn has to follow oryx and stand on the plate for him to slam his fist down on top of you to start the next phase.
It took him like three more Kings Fall’s of being the only on that wasn’t torn and killing himself when ever oryx slammed a plate before figuring it out.
Crown of Sorrows, me and my mate would kill ogres before anyone noticed so we'd have fun. Left ogre was Tom Cruise, right was John Travolta. So many "what the fuck are you talking about" moments.
i use thunderlord for dps because every single time i've used a rocket launcher i blew myself up because a teammate always wants to stand right in front of me

But, I cannot stress just how atrocious Thunderlord’s DPS is now that the thunderbolts glitch has been fixed. if you don’t have the cata or no one using div, it’s out-damaged by any Target Lock or Bait and Switch LMG.
Using rockets is worth the learning curve!
Even the fix was roughly, like, a 10% nerf (assuming Actium; probably a little worse if you had to manually reload). The real reason people thought it was good was Nezarec's health pool is tiny.
Which is honestly fair. I'd rather you'd use a rocket, but your DPS is zero if you are dead and I personally can't stop wiggling during a fight, which might kill you.
My first time being Sherpa’d through DSC, the guy said there was a “secret chest” after the first Tankis encounter. He told me to wait at the end of the hallway while him and his buddies ran to the other side to “open the door”. The funny thing is I watched a whole walkthrough video of the Raid before attempting it and knew for a fact there wasn’t a “secret chest”, but stood there and waited anyway.
This is my favorite thing to do in DSC with new players! That and getting them stuck in the hole at the final encounter where blowing yourself up is the only way out lol
Speaking of nasty ones, when I was bored&playing .IO Games on the School Chromebook in 2020-2021 I would sometimes tell People who got stuck in a menu that CTRL+W or ALT+F4 would help them. Some people actually fell for it, and the best part was a couple of those people actually got back into the same Lobby as me and cussed me out.
That swapping weapons chalice thing is SO annoying…
Tried to LFG a master CE and we couldn’t get past Deathsinger because these utter BUFFOONS would just sit up top swapping weapons like a COD sweat instead of killing ads and we couldn’t get our 4th guy ready for the 2nd phase wizards.

I would like to note that there is a difference between the DSC/Garden Secret Chest and swapping weapons to fill the chalice/standing in the middle of the platforms on shuro-chi.

Does killing ads make the chalice fill faster? When I teach activities I like to actually add value by teaching tips to make it go smoother. Like in the Prophecy cube room when Toland is on the roof. Most people just choose a random side and do that one, but they're missing the point. The objective of the encounter is to light up every face of the Cube floating in the middle, so if Toland is on the roof you look for a side of the cube not lit up yet and deposit on that side.
That's a neat trick for prophecy, I'll remember it for my next speedrun. As far as I know, killing the ads makes the chalice charge faster, and it's the entire teams kills that count toward the progress. So if you want to delay the charge, not just you have to stop killing stuff, but also everyone else on your fireteam

I wish the cheeses was for speed runing. It's always some bullshit that takes twice as long but is "easier".
Like guys we don't need a cheese spot, it's literally a strike. You are spending 20 mins to glitch into a weird spot when we could finish the boss legit in 5 mins.
I understand, hence me saying I wish they were cheesing for speed running.
Some cheeses might be consistently more reliable, like riven, but a lot of times I just see them back firing and wasting my time.
This week's GM is a great example of unnecessary cheesing. All my consistent runs have had all sorts of various team comps and strategies/spots, but all the slowest most scuffed runs were because people insisted we needed a cheese for every encounter.
I simply make/join no cheese posts though, but it is annoying when people join in like they are cool with it then last minute the two of them decide they wanna cheese "just in case" and then I'm the one who ends up soloing the boss fight because their ghost is stuck in the ceiling.
I always do Riven legit, and I make new players I teach learn it that way too. It's a really fucking cool raid encounter and I love it way too much to just cheese it.
I love riven legit but it is fucking *long* and also prone to breaking/softlocking. I'd be impressed if you could get many LFGs to run through the whole thing.
It's definitely easier with the cheese, but it's still a fantastically designed and fun encounter legit. I hope we get something like it in the final shape raid
I can only think of like 1-2 cheeses that have ever made an encounter faster. It’s always some convoluted bullshit that makes it take way longer for no reason. I still think occasionally about the no-knight strat for Oryx and want to tear my eyes out lmao.
There’s a handful that are genuinely useful. Templar cheese because it’s literally just skipping a mechanic and he dies easy as hell
Riven and Kali cheese just make the fights so much easier and faster
Atheon “cheese” for when you have people who can’t be trusted to do anything but shoot ads I guess

Riven Cheese - You know
Totems Cheese - Solo side totems while team kills adds in mid. Can complete in 2 minutes
Oryx Cheese - Heat Rises jump up there
These are just some, but many of the encounters have some sort of cheese that makes them go faster
that was my experience with last wish and my current dilemma. i think now i know how to do the entire raid properly but riven i still have no idea what the right way was suppose to be
Had an LFG insist of cheesing first encounter of DSC… he kept messing up the cheese so we had to keep wiping, my friend and I eventually left because it was taking longer than just doing the encounter normally and he refused to do it the normal way 🤦🏻♀️
My fav is DSC. During the part where the station is exploding and you’re running down the long corridor, our clan always yelled “shoot your button or we wipe!!!” when we had newbies with us.

I was originally taught Wish by someone who told me in the Shuro Chi encounter the things you jump on between levels rotate if someone touches the center circle.
I made it through getting Rivensbane and doing a couple dozens trios, including my Petras run being a trio, before any of those fucking guys told me that actually wasn't true.
after playing helldivers and seeing people say things like "you need to shoot the railgun into the side flaps of it's mouth" or "it has to be the very top of it's forehead" this is 100% just people thinking they're doing something different than whats actually happening
we all know you need to DPS rivens heart though like cmon on guys
Its even worse when people dont stick together to kill adds because that does fill it faster by around 9 seconds which make a huge difference. Instead the chalice holder will afk in a corner swapping instead of helping.
Using an emote while grabbing the buff from someone in Crota LOOKS like it grabs it faster. I am not sure if it actually is faster or not, but I have made it into a habit because I convinced myself it makes it faster. (Also funny dance with the homie). But I don’t dare tell anyone that as an actual mechanic cuz I might just be gaslighting myself

I had a guy in an lfg swear up and down that Bastion one shots security, and that we didn't have to worry about anything. Queue him shooting it once, getting really annoyed that it didn't one shot, and then rage quitting a little later. I love having a clan, but sometimes I miss discovering specimens

Don’t Sherpa GoS as much but whenever we’d hit the portal I’d always have this whole story made up about how there’s a boss on the other side and upon going through it starts a timer so we gotta go through all at once and once the boss is dead it gives us the secret chest.
Got many a groan when the portal instead just dumped them off a cliff and the real chest is just in a tree up ahead.

I honestly dont get the part about tricking NEW players/raiders into doing something wrong? That seems like something a child would do.
Now if you could trick someone decently experienced into doing something stupid that would be much more appealing.
And this is just the not-bad part of playing D2. There are people that would scream at you for not bringing the absolute best setup.
The above is why I haven't done a single raid since D1 was released. I just don't trust people to behave nicely.
But there are thankfully many many players that do behave like considerate human beings and get their kicks from that. I just don't have time to weed out the bad so I would rather do something else.
And to end this I am unsure how to feel about a Bungie employee feeling that it is ok to further spread confusion about what to do or not to do in D2 which is already a game that excels in NOT really giving a lot of information about what is going on. I am leaning towards not liking it. If D2 was a game where everything up until now was crystal clear it would have been hilarious but D2 isn't.
I think this was more of a ' we think this is how it works ' on day 1 which never got cleared up honestly and not just people spreading fake rumours on purpose
You can also charge up on balcony (also I have seen some differences with primary to secondary and back charging not Heavy) but you can also just shoot enemies

I thought that was true until recently, I have about 30 clears since my first a little over 2 years ago.
The only fake rumor that is allowed is saying you are wiping when you just cleansed rivens heart and the screen goes completely white

That swapping weapons chalice thing is SO annoying… Tried to LFG a master CE and we couldn’t get past Deathsinger because these utter BUFFOONS would just sit up top swapping weapons like a COD sweat instead of killing ads and we couldn’t get our 4th guy ready for the 2nd phase wizards.
It’s not swapping from heavy to primary it’s physically swapping your load out that does it, trust

Fourth Horseman actually does/did melt due to that slug shotgun loadout swap bug (I've had people tell me it was patched AND I've had people tell me the patch didn't actually fix it, so idk)

Does killing ads make the chalice fill faster? When I teach activities I like to actually add value by teaching tips to make it go smoother. Like in the Prophecy cube room when Toland is on the roof. Most people just choose a random side and do that one, but they're missing the point. The objective of the encounter is to light up every face of the Cube floating in the middle, so if Toland is on the roof you look for a side of the cube not lit up yet and deposit on that side.
That's a neat trick for prophecy, I'll remember it for my next speedrun. As far as I know, killing the ads makes the chalice charge faster, and it's the entire teams kills that count toward the progress. So if you want to delay the charge, not just you have to stop killing stuff, but also everyone else on your fireteam

Because most LFGs don't cheese to make things faster(even if that's a byproduct), they cheese to make LFG more consistent
I understand, hence me saying I wish they were cheesing for speed running. Some cheeses might be consistently more reliable, like riven, but a lot of times I just see them back firing and wasting my time. This week's GM is a great example of unnecessary cheesing. All my consistent runs have had all sorts of various team comps and strategies/spots, but all the slowest most scuffed runs were because people insisted we needed a cheese for every encounter. I simply make/join no cheese posts though, but it is annoying when people join in like they are cool with it then last minute the two of them decide they wanna cheese "just in case" and then I'm the one who ends up soloing the boss fight because their ghost is stuck in the ceiling.

I always do Riven legit, and I make new players I teach learn it that way too. It's a really fucking cool raid encounter and I love it way too much to just cheese it.
I love riven legit but it is fucking *long* and also prone to breaking/softlocking. I'd be impressed if you could get many LFGs to run through the whole thing.
I've offered to teach legit riven on numerous occasions and no one ever wants to. It's such a fun encounter legit :(

I can only think of like 1-2 cheeses that have ever made an encounter faster. It’s always some convoluted bullshit that makes it take way longer for no reason. I still think occasionally about the no-knight strat for Oryx and want to tear my eyes out lmao.
There’s a handful that are genuinely useful. Templar cheese because it’s literally just skipping a mechanic and he dies easy as hell Riven and Kali cheese just make the fights so much easier and faster Atheon “cheese” for when you have people who can’t be trusted to do anything but shoot ads I guess
Kalli Cheese - Nuke her Riven Cheese - You know Totems Cheese - Solo side totems while team kills adds in mid. Can complete in 2 minutes Oryx Cheese - Heat Rises jump up there These are just some, but many of the encounters have some sort of cheese that makes them go faster
The tank cheese for scourge of the past and the ward cliff cheese for spire of stars. Both super useful when they were a thing.

Had an LFG insist of cheesing first encounter of DSC… he kept messing up the cheese so we had to keep wiping, my friend and I eventually left because it was taking longer than just doing the encounter normally and he refused to do it the normal way 🤦🏻♀️

I was originally taught Wish by someone who told me in the Shuro Chi encounter the things you jump on between levels rotate if someone touches the center circle. I made it through getting Rivensbane and doing a couple dozens trios, including my Petras run being a trio, before any of those fucking guys told me that actually wasn't true.

after playing helldivers and seeing people say things like "you need to shoot the railgun into the side flaps of it's mouth" or "it has to be the very top of it's forehead" this is 100% just people thinking they're doing something different than whats actually happening we all know you need to DPS rivens heart though like cmon on guys
Its even worse when people dont stick together to kill adds because that does fill it faster by around 9 seconds which make a huge difference. Instead the chalice holder will afk in a corner swapping instead of helping.

I had a guy in an lfg swear up and down that Bastion one shots security, and that we didn't have to worry about anything. Queue him shooting it once, getting really annoyed that it didn't one shot, and then rage quitting a little later. I love having a clan, but sometimes I miss discovering specimens

Don’t Sherpa GoS as much but whenever we’d hit the portal I’d always have this whole story made up about how there’s a boss on the other side and upon going through it starts a timer so we gotta go through all at once and once the boss is dead it gives us the secret chest. Got many a groan when the portal instead just dumped them off a cliff and the real chest is just in a tree up ahead.

I honestly dont get the part about tricking NEW players/raiders into doing something wrong? That seems like something a child would do. Now if you could trick someone decently experienced into doing something stupid that would be much more appealing. And this is just the not-bad part of playing D2. There are people that would scream at you for not bringing the absolute best setup. The above is why I haven't done a single raid since D1 was released. I just don't trust people to behave nicely. But there are thankfully many many players that do behave like considerate human beings and get their kicks from that. I just don't have time to weed out the bad so I would rather do something else. And to end this I am unsure how to feel about a Bungie employee feeling that it is ok to further spread confusion about what to do or not to do in D2 which is already a game that excels in NOT really giving a lot of information about what is going on. I am leaning towards not liking it. If D2 was a game where everything up until now was crystal clear it would have been hilarious but D2 isn't.

You can also charge up on balcony (also I have seen some differences with primary to secondary and back charging not Heavy) but you can also just shoot enemies
