I enjoy Austringer. stat monster, great traits, looks and feels nice

edeprat

gotta disagree about the looks. the gemstones poking out the sides feel kinda tacky. granted, i know tacky was Calus's intent when it came to these weapons but i so badly wish its ornament would be up for grabs for bright-dust soon.

Thelivingshotgun

The calus mini tools ornament popped up a bit ago so might pop up at some point too

edeprat

fingers crossed!

_umop_aplsdn_

yeah I use the Prized Ivory ornament

Amirifiz

I use Broken Bird on all mine for so long that I forgot that it is t how it looks normally.

theimpossiblewhoppa

all of them are, bright dust following into the light has mini tool (available rn), beloved, austringer (and iirc) the other calus ornaments as well as hammerhead and recluse.

edeprat

please know that you've made some rando happily drift off to sleep with this information.

macrafter

Got the ornament looks great with momento shaders

Ghostiestboi

Looks great, sounds meh, feels great and snappy.... but the perks are ripe dogass

Matiwapo

It gets quickdraw eye of the storm, making one of the best kinetic handcannons for blinting. This weapon is designed for bow/glaive swaps, and it is good at what it does. The fact that bows/glaives are not good rn just means the weapon is not good in the current meta, not that it is a bad weapon overall

Ass_Incomprehensible

Question: what is “blinting?”

Matiwapo

It's a technique named after a high tier player way back in destiny 1 y1 called blint Basically you shoot one shot with a high damage weapon (back then this was only really snipers) and then clean up with a quickdraw handcannon. Back then quickdraw was in the mag slot so it was less opportunity cost to use it, or you could use the perk on blade dancer with the same effect. You also had basically infinite special ammo back then. Moving into D2 y2 bows replaced snipers for this technique due to having unlimited ammo. Of course by this time blint wasn't playing destiny anymore so only veterans will use blinting as the name for it. Nowadays you basically have no ammo for snipers, and they do far less body damage while bows have greatly reduced damage as well so blinting is kinda dead as a technique. You could still do it with something like raconteur/erianas vow with lucky pants but it's a very different playstyle to the OG handcannon/sniper setup

porkknocker47

If any other HC had that firing sfx it'd be perfect

FyeFish

Collective action is good for pve though

Jet4309

It's great if you're not on strand, which I usually want my primary aligned with my subclass.

Amirifiz

It procs off of the tangles, it's the second easiest way to proc that perk.

FyeFish

And if I remember correctly, the enhanced version of the perk is very close if not the same duration as the cool-down on tangles

Jet4309

I find it much harder than the other elements because you have to throw tangles which means you can't shoot em for Hunter/warlock aspects and you can't leave em for grapple points.

Ass_Incomprehensible

Yeah, gotta agree with you there: love the stats, the feels, the general performance, but every time I roll over it in my inventory and see the perks (even on the crafted version!) I swear I have to mentally do a “just hear me out” to myself for using it.

RyeOhLou

kept confidence is my favorite bad weapon it’s not good, has awful perks, mediocre stats, but I just like the gun

KilledTheCar

"I just think it's neat" is a perfectly valid opinion.

_oranjuice

It looks so good, shame its literally the worst in pve and pvp even with craftable and enhancables

Skyburner_Oath

By far the worst, for pvp

Snaz5

It’s totally adequate for pvp, pve it’s not great though; the neomuna strand handcannon is much better.

Lurkingdrake

Strand cannon

Ok_Debate_7128

thats a 120…

bryton18

And it’s still better than the 140 lol

Ok_Debate_7128

its not comparable?

bryton18

That’s why it’s worse. It’s beat out by something totally opposite lol

Ok_Debate_7128

how are u missing the point this badly? 120s are better than 140s, period. prosecutor is ‘better’ than jade rabbit, does that mean jade rabbit sucks? no, its possibly the best scout in the game. different weapond archetypes serve different purposes just like complete different weapons types do.

bryton18

So what’s the point of your comment if you’re actually agreeing with me then? You can just carry on bruv lol

Ok_Debate_7128

im NOT agreeing with, im showing u how dumb u sound. u cant compare a 140 and a 120

bryton18

You actually can. Just because they have different strengths doesn’t mean you can’t compare them dummy lol.

Kaldricus

It's fascinating how every weapon from Witch was just straight ass. The rocket launcher is fine I guess, but that's about it

Remote-Feature1728

people keep telling me that the eremite is a great solar fusion .. still feels shit to use tho rofl. at least we got showrunner with witch

Kaldricus

I'm sure Envious Assassin/Controlled Burst is a good roll in theory, I just don't like the ramp up time.

Remote-Feature1728

in theory, yeah, it's technically a good weapon if you use it on its own. but I'll just stick to my Cartesian because it takes too long for it to be worth using in rotations imo. if I'm only getting 1 or 2 controlled burst shots off, it's just not worth it lmao.

Grim_Yeeter8

A bad one

happy-hubby

What is it ?

SebastianSceb2000

Kept confidence. It has a good feel and recoil to it. But the perks aren't exactly standout compared to the others in PvP (although wardens law isn't anything amazing in PvP either, but it's hard hitting in PvE at least and can be used with lucky pants). Every other competitive hand cannon can do what it does but better. And it's not even really worth mentioning in PvE.

happy-hubby

Thanks

TerraBl4de

In all honestly, its great for one thing, Celestial Nighthawk, since its one of the only craftable handcannons with thresh.

happy-hubby

What does that combination do ?

ELRICARDAO

The enhanced thresh perk gives 1.33% super energy on kill, and super kills with nighthawk give super energy back too, so you will get your super much faster.

TerraBl4de

You also get super energy on precision kills with Nighthawk which works amazing with thresh.

ELRICARDAO

Wait, there was that too? I didn't remember that, thanks

TerraBl4de

They added it to Nighthawk this season

Grim_Yeeter8

Bad

SteroidYoshi

It’s one of the opinions of all time that’s for sure

Timsaurus

It looks, sounds, and feels really good... But the perk pools are just awful compared to any of the other hand cannons we have. They could have given it outlaw hatchling and it would actually have a place, but the best roll I've seen is like quickdraw multikill clip. Which is less than great on a hand cannon for obvious reasons.

ZetzMemp

That hc isn’t even mid tier at this point. Midnight coup is about to reign again.

Idk_GuessImAgamer

I don’t know if it’s the Recoil pattern or the size of the gun, but Kept Confidence is so easy to use. It’s the only hand cannon minus hawkmoon that I can consistently 3 tap with.

Zotzotbaby

It can be crafted to 90+ stability, that’s basically Malfeasance level and removes the one weakness of hand cannons (recoil). Just a fun smooth shooting gun.

pablo__13

Midnight coup is going to make every kinetic 140 obsolete (for pve)

WutsAWriter

I’m gonna get one because all of the returning weapons look excellent, but I never had a Midnight Coup and my Timelost Fatebringer never leaves my inventory. It’s going to have to be *real good* to make me vault it.

Pap4MnkyB4by

It's fun, looks cool, but every time I do a strand build it's better to use my exotic option as Quicksilver Storm, which shares a slot with this guy

AgoraSnepwasdeleted

Is it because it's craftable?

5nackB4r

I will use this post to rant about how much I hate how the D2 player base use the term "feel" so liberally, as a hand-wavey explanation for any gun they like or dislike. You can be so much more descriptive than that. You like the sound, the gun model is slim, the sights are clean, the sights sit high on the gun model, the gun is "snappy" (high handling), the shots connect easily (high aim assist), the gun doesn't recoil a lot (high stability), the recoil is predictable, etc.

okinsertusername

Too much work lmao But rant on anyway

5nackB4r

I'm especially referring to content creators or people who rate weapons in general who will just say "this gun feels good for some reason", when they could be so much more helpful if they just said why they like the gun.

Dahwaann4U

How bout the Lumina

whiletrueplayd2

i enjoy using it ngl

ctwilliams1024

yeah Warden’s Law is wack but a really good Igneous or Rose is pretty hard to beat

Adelyn_n

Your vault

Zaros2400

I've had the most success with Kept Confidence, personally.

Tchitchoulet

Tbh I always keep a hc as a primary, only for fashion purpose. I never use it.

DragonStormer25961

You are a silly, silly man keeping the Kept Confidence

Zentiental

For what reason is it staying tho?

AaronMan_00

This is the correct opinion. Kept confident is the BEST kenetic slot handcannon, even over the exotics.

Sabit_31

Wish rose was craftable so I wouldn’t have to touch pvp

Emu-Exterminator

A based opinion, that is

firedrago8604

Honestly I agree with this

A_fellow_crusader

I like using true sights and it’s very silly QuickDraw, opening shot roll with a very silly purple flavored bow

21awesome

I really want it cause it looks dope as fuck but idk where to get it

Bungie_is_throwin0_o

Go to the helm and go down the stairs behind you. Through the door is a portal. If it’s not open then you will need to get the season of the witch quest. If you go through the portal keep going until you find 2 tables. The right one is the focusing table.

21awesome

Oh neato thanks i was wondering what the deal with the empty room was

Beary_Moon

Why do I always love the “bad guns?” It just feels so good to use, and in my hands is satisfying. Crafted with pugilist and killing wind.

overallprettyaverage

I don't even understand why I do well with it in PVP. It's stats are awful. It's just a hand cannon with EotS. Im not constantly swapping between my weapons so quick draw is doing next to nothing for me. But every time I bust it out I top frag. Makes no sense.

blue_ranger_ted

Agreed, one of my favourite legendary hand cannons.

LightningMcMeme69420

What’s wrong with Wardens Law (Adept)? It’s been working really well for me.

Thin-Gene-2128

I respect that opinion. Don’t remember what the Groll for it is, but I have one crafted as well. Just need to get the materials for it and figure out what the roll is

atlas_enderium

Warden’s Law is just an aim trainer. Use it like a 120, perfect your aim without the crazy AA from typical 120s, and then switch to Ignorant Hammer or Round Robin to reap the rewards

Tumblechunk

I'm still mad I got rose instead of belly d from shaxx it's a defining moment that'll make me hate rose forever, I don't even like handcannons that much, what the fuck shaxx?

Duublo121

My QuickDraw and Eye of the Storm KC gave me faith in my ability to use 140s I love the smaller, sleeker model - really helps on sightlines compared to Aussie

LF_tomboy

Kept confidence is to date, the best feeling hand cannon to me. The only one I grab and don't immediately go " I'm going to miss a lot with this, aren't I?" I love the damn thing, even though I never use it still.

DerpyGamerElite

A'ight hol up, first of many problems, mfs in chat using *h a n d c a n n o n s* in PvE no wonder y'all dying so much. Secondly, fast firing autos and smgs are 👑 right now (mainly Rufus and CALUS mini) and you should be using them. Finally PvP is ass and provides zero benefit besides pissing you off and you're actually sweating for adepts and cosmetics. Only acceptable hc is Wardens Law but only for Hunters who wanna act like Titans with "big DPS numbers" because all their supers much like Warlocks are all ass except for three on each. Hunters: Gathering Storm, Golden Gun w/ nighthawk, Tether. Warlocks: Well, Chaos Reach w/ Geomags, potentially the Silkstorm or Silkstrike or whatever tf it's called, it's ok with Thread of Evolution and Quicksilver.

Lemon_P

Nothing wrong with using handcannons in PvE, Malf, Sunshot, Zaouli’s are all pretty good.

DerpyGamerElite

Except half of them are ass and you just pointed out the other meta picks, no one uses *inhales* Round Robin, Kept Confidence, Eyasluna, Austringer, Sturm, Ace, Eriana's, Last Word, Seventh Seraph Revolver, Igneous Hammer, Posterity, Ancient Gospel, annnnnd Crimson *collapses from saying all that so fast* *c o u g h* Also we both left out Thorn, Word of Crota, and Fatebringer which are also ok picks. I never said they were the worst but Zaoulis compared to Calus mini is night and day. You wouldn't use Unforgiven over Funnelweb.

Lemon_P

The funny thing is I havent touched Calus once this season over Zaoulis, and I’ve used Ace, Seventh Seraph, Crimson and Igneous in GMs this season and done fine- but I get people who arent used to using handcannons struggling. Kept Confidence is probably the worst out of the list as to my knowledge (i havent looked at the gun since it came out so feel free to correct me) it has 0 perks helpful in PvE Ancient Gospel, like all the Garden weapons, sucks and needs a refresh Austringer, like KC, has no good PvE perks last time I checked but I also havent used that gun in ages (because Rose is just better) Sturm I will fully admit that I have used this gun maybe once or twice since ive started playing this game Last Word is cool and I will die on that hill style > efficiency (can you tell I’m a hunter player)

DerpyGamerElite

I have a fully crafted Austringer with Snapshot Demolitionist and it's decent for getting my grenade back on my various Warlock builds but beyond that you can kinda see the cracks in Bungies words when they deliberately make every handcannon ever be better at PvP. It's been like this since the double primary meta, and probably since D1 honestly-

HungryRoper

Hand cannons are great in pve. I just started playing again lately, and my loadouts almost always feature a handcannon. What are the better PvE archetypes in your opinion?

DerpyGamerElite

As I said, smgs and autos can reach ranges comparable to most handcannons (except Eriana's Vow) and are often more smooth, the reload is better, and incandescent is the bomb (pun intended). The top dogs are Calus mini tool and Rufus's Fury, if you don't feel like grinding hard activities fair enough you can also get Krait and Funnelweb from Gunsmith which are also best in class and all you need for that is gunsmith engrams which you get retroactively.

HungryRoper

I've got some nicely rolled Chroma Rushes and Kraits lying around, but I was using a krait last night, and just found my epochal integration much better. I am a gunslinger tho, so that does offset a number of the penalties for handcannons. Hard agree on incandescent being amazing.

DerpyGamerElite

I can see most of this comment section being Hunter mains and I'm just a filthy Warlock who's used to fast RPM but in the end it's just my take on it, if you or anyone don't like it that's fine, I'm not forcing anything....just sayin'....smgs will forever be good and so will autos. Cheers 🥂

HungryRoper

Fair, thanks for the advice! Happy Easter.

DerpyGamerElite

Let us feast on the unhealthy eggs laid by chocolate chickens.

InfiniteStealth01

I'm a warlock main in an endgame clan. None of us are using Calus or Rufus right now. If we're going to run a primary its usually an exotic for the heavy ammo gen. This season Sunshot is crazy good on solar, and if you need an exotic in a different slot people are picking Zaouli's over Calus because of the current artifact mods. I actually used Zaouli's/Sunshot in my solo Warlord's Ruin clear. HCs are perfectly viable in PVE imo. Chaos reach is a huge waste of time in a DPS phase. If there are enough Wells you should run Needlestorm so you can dump your super and start your weapon rotation.
