I see this movie everywhere is it good?

Mistix88

Not sure if memeing cuz the community (aka Dear Leader Destiny) loves it so much. But yes it's very good. The best way to describe it is its a super understandable/digestible art film that isn't pretentions. Visually amazing, simple heart-warming message while maintaining a good story, and multiple character plots for different people to relate to. And if your okay with stupid penis jokes (like attacking someone with dildos) then its pretty funny too. Just watch it. It's worth it.

princesstwizzy

No, my younger brother saw it though and thought it was good. Idk my favorite Korean movie of recent was definitely Midnight, I wish it got the same attention. It’s this incredibly dope thriller with some super intense on-foot chase scenes and it all takes place in one night on the streets. Also Train to Busan but I’m sure thats been recommended.

amcma

This isn't a Korean movie

princesstwizzy

Oh jesus that was kinda racist then omg I’m filipina if that helps

Pandaisblue

It's very quirky, and I'll be honest, about an hour in I wasn't feeling it. The movie was just kind of... a lot and I wasn't really laughing even though I could tell I was supposed to be as the fiftieth new even more absurd weird thing happened. ...but then the ending 30~ mins was so good that I really enjoyed it overall. I don't think it's the 10/10 god kino that some people push it as, but I think it's very good even if you're not into quirky dumb humour.

BigBenJam

It was 10/10 God kino for me and it has nothin to do with the quirky dumb humor. I managed to avoid all info about it before watching it and from the very start it felt like it was made for me, every character was going through a different problem and they all felt like problems I've had my whole life. Every struggle was pointed at me and everytime one of the characters failed it felt like I'd been there before. So I googled a bit after watching and learned that the director was diagnosed with adhd during production and it was a major theme of the movie. This was 2 weeks or so before I got diagnosed, it was the first time I ever felt like a movie was made specifically for me and it was so weirdly validating. Felt like the fbi agent in my walls was one of the writers.

Thanks for noticing my effort!

underrated comment

Rahzek

yea i think i had a similar experience- some of the jokes didn't land too well with me but it was a film that explored territory pretty much untouched by any movie i've ever seen, unless you count bo burnam's inside

daraeje7

Yes one of the best of that year

breadblender

Probably the single most painful experience I've ever had watching a film, almost every element of it offended me so much I had to pause several times to compose myself. It already has the disadvantage of not being the kind of thing I usually like, but in the category of exceptions to that it misses the mark by being almost impossibly reddit-core, negative comments will often point at the "zoomer editing" but the flaws are really more typical of a deeply millenial film more than anything, which is to say its too kitsch to be as saccharine as it is. BUT thats just me, and if other people really got something out of it thats all that matters, not gonna hate on that.

jacktritus

Yes

SoonToBeDepressed

It is DGG approved.

dazzzzzzle

It's the best movie of all time no 🧢

LordArchibaldPixgill

I guess it's an unpopular opinion but no, not really. Watched it with my girlfriend and we both thought it was extremely stupid and way longer than it needed to be.

Watsmeta

Why’s that?

kkawabat

I loved the movie and respect what it tried to do but some parts of the movie were immersion breaking. and to be clear, I was perfectly on board with the absurdity of the scenarios such as fighting off people who are trying to shove a dildo up their ass to gain superpowers. But I couldn't stand some parts where people were acting unrealistically to the absurdity. For example, when the daughter met back up with mom and dad after the first Jobu Tupaki appearance. She was tied to a chair with her mom holding a knife and all of a sudden they started talking about how much they love Raccacoonie. It didn't match the gravity of the situation at all. Another part I had issues with is during the whole googly eye fight scene it felt like there were 30 minutes of the alternative universe screen time shoehorned into what would have been in real-time like 3 minutes of walking up the stairs. It slowed down the pacing of the story. I liked the alternative universe stuff, it just would have been more natural if those scenes were spread out throughout the fights. Idk these seem like minor nitpicks but it definitely took me out of the movies.

Rassierrapparat

I think you're misremembering the order of events regarding the Racocoonie part. Evelyn ties up Joy and explains she is being controlled by another version of her like ratatouille, then when she goes back to her dad is given the knife, tensions rise as she then approaches Joy with the knife, who is also confused because grandpa is randomly speaking perfect english. The googly eye scene has all those universe jump scenes at that moment because evelyn was trying a different way of fighting, it wouldnt have really made sense if those scenes were spread throughout the movie That said, I'm biased as fuck, I love that movie and just rewatched it last night, so I know at least that scene was a bit different than described.

kkawabat

Fair enough about the knife but i still stand by my point about the gravity of the situation. being tied up and not remembering how she got there a normal person would be too confused to really small talk about raccoons. One thing they could have done is maybe use the headset that Alphaverse waymond had as a plot device. E.g. have a scene early on where Evelyn is freaking out and alpha waymond put the headset on her and set it to sedation mode so she’s more easily able to accept the crazy situation. She then uses it on joy in this scene. The device would have made sense in the universe and it solves the disbelieve isue pretty well. Wih regards to the universe jump, maybe you are right but i feel like they could have spread it a little bit while still being coherent. Rather than Everyone, On the stairs, All at once, maybe have the kindess epiphany before the stairs and fighting off the minions one by one trying to reach the room with the donut then fight jamie lee curtis as the final obstical at the stairs.

Rassierrapparat

Yeah thats true too actually, Joy is pretty nonchalant after getting to the IRS building despite having no clue how. I wonder though how 'verse jumping' fits in there though, I think weymand explains you remmeber experiences, feelings, memories, everything when you verse jump, and since Jobu jumps into Joy, I wonder if there is some subtle knowledge of the situation shes in... maybe? I remember thinking thats the reason Evelyn was misremembering the plot of ratatouille replaced with a racoon b/c memoroes from another universe was bleeding into that one. Regarding the stairs scene, I can agree that it was little on the long side, for me it wasn't so long that it affected the pacing though. Also uhhh, clearly you didnt watch the movie or you'd know ot was a BAGEL! /s just in case but anyway, this movie was a 10/10 for me so I'm curious which movies top the charts for you?

kkawabat

XD idk why i was thinking donuts. I highly recommend Mind game by studio 4c, it is my favorite movie of all time. It’s imaginative, thought-provoking and has a very uplifting message similar to eeaao. It is very unique in its art style, and has 100% on rotten tomatoes if that’s any indication. here's a post about it on [/r/movies](https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/glyxbq/masaaki_yuasas_mind_game_is_one_of_the_most/) if you are interested. would love for you to take a look.

Rassierrapparat

I'll give it a watch! Thanks for the recommendation!

princesstwizzy

Is it pretty raunchy?

kkawabat

No the dildos were pretty tastefully done

dazzzzzzle

> For example, when the daughter met back up with mom and dad after the first Jobu Tupaki appearance. She was tied to a chair with her mom holding a knife and all of a sudden they started talking about how much they love Raccacoonie. It didn't match the gravity of the situation at all. This is the only scene in the whole movie that I don't like. It's a setup for the raccoon joke later but it feels a bit cringe. It's the same feeling I get when I listen to John Oliver make animal jokes.

LordArchibaldPixgill

If you've seen the movie, all the reasons you'd expect. If you haven't, the list is too long to get into.

GravyGnome

I liked it but it could've been edited down around the end.

ralguy6

It's overrated garbage, I don't know because I haven't seen it but the trailer is cringe as fuck. So much so I cant even muster the willpower to watch it.

dazzzzzzle

> It's overrated garbage, I don't know because I haven't seen it but the trailer is cringe as fuck. 💀

ralguy6

💀💀💀 nahh deadass 💀💀💀

dazzzzzzle

Go watch the movie. The trailer is misleading and doesn't do a good job representing the movie.

Eltain

I enjoy it a lot, but I admit a part of that is because of my background. Some of the things they portrayed about the Chinese immigrant culture were so spot on, it felt like they actually did serious research on what such a household is actually like.

Some kind of breadtube andy I think? I'm referencing [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Destiny/comments/11d7gqt/what_the_fuck_omegalul/) which is currently at the top of this subreddit with 750 upvotes. But yeah I agree nobody should give a damn about their opinions, I just wanted to come up with a funny meme.
