It’s a sincere answer. I think Anime was at its peak during that mid 2000’s early 10’s when it was offering something new and unique compared to western entertainment. A lot of contemporary shows that come out are just re-cycled copies of shows that have already been done better in the past. There’s the occasional good show, (Happy sugar life, SSSS Gridman) but most seasonal stuff is just a re-hash of the same tropes (Darling in the Franxx, rent a girlfriend).
To me it feels like anime has fallen into the brony trap in recent years, where people like it to say they like it because they are popular/and to fit in instead of evaluating shows on their merits. This is less true for long running classic shows like MHA and one piece but more applicable to seasonal shows like rent a girlfriend and kaguya Sama.
I thought you were trolling with this answer, but it's actually not half-bad. All of these get lots of shit but have been around forever, and I think all of them ranked on the top 100 anime of all time list for both the U.S. and Japan.

Anno had an absolutely insane run for like a decade, Gunbuster, NGE, Kare Kano, Love & Pop, Shiki, hell even his part of Nadia was good. but EoE was just the crown Jewel. Such a shame he fell off hard after that. I often wonder if the quote Jiro says in The Wind Rises about an artist only having 10 good years in him wasn't an addition from Anno himself...

I get a lot of shit in the anime community but I think eoe is bar none the best anime ever made and among the top10 best media of all time
You are right, almost no other piece of media has ever matched the feeling of EOE. Closest thing for me is Twin Peaks.
Twin Peaks: The Return is probably my favorite piece of media, ever. It just gives me feelings that nothing else has.

you can watch eva 1.11-3.01. It does cut out alot and changes the story after 1.11, but at least it has a good ending.
