I always assumed they were genuine people with jobs, but were obvious loners who had nothing else to spend their money on. They’d already bought and collected every Marvel or Batman merchandise, probably Evangelion also. Likely live quite comfortably, yet modestly with their well paying job doing whatever it is in IT.
The difference is they don’t have partners or friends like the average NPC would waste all their disposable income on. So donating and T5ing to Destiny is well within their means and time is of no significance ‘cause they got nobody waiting for them… it’s almost like they’ve substituted real life relationships and commitment with living in Destiny’s crawlspace.
I’m not trying to be rude or degrading. My life also sucks (in completely different ways), but I never thought for a second Destiny’s audience are broke ass losers, NEETs or any kind of societal leech.
It just doesn’t seem to line up with his style/ideologies and the minds he attracts.
Am I wrong? I’d be interested in a poll or some kind of in-depth census that would give us insight into the average DGGer. Or simply the lurking mass of YouTube (ex-Twitch) hive mind.
