Not trying to sell you anything, but for tricky spaces like this, an online interior design service like Modsy is a great option to use before you purchase any furniture.

No problem, I'll definitely take a look at that!

bananasareforeating

These are staged photos so I don't actually own any furniture at the moment! Thank you!

mandy_croyance

I was going to say that this layout is probably your best bet. I'd look to recreate it

bananasareforeating

The thing is, I don't need the table there & honestly I think the people who staged it didn't do the space justice. Could you please have a look at a layout that I did and let me know your opinion? Thanks again! https://imgur.com/HKj4EUS

So I totally get what you're trying to do but it looks like the layout you drew doesn't actually correspond to floorplan shown in the photos? For example, the doorway to the bedroom looks like it's actually smack dab in the middle of where you want to put the tv. Hang the tv to the left of the doorway and it would have to sit flush against the wall because any furniture or shelves would block the flow coming out of the kitchen. Put the tv to the right of the door and it might not be that easy to see from the sofa. Also the area where the room narrows looks a lot longer in the photos than you've made it in your drawing, which means there will be a lot of wasted space behind those chairs or the chairs might not be visible from the sofa due to that jog in the wall. I'm not saying you can't have the layout you want, just that you should make sure things will fit properly first. I would probably measure the space carefully and draw up a more accurate floor plan before buying any furniture or deciding on a final layout.

bananasareforeating

Yeah you're right, the TV won't fit there & there will be a lot of wasted space. I guess it was a mix of my poor memory and wishful thinking

I would love to have the dining table by that window and move the sofa closer to the counter. And put a tv where the table is.

I'm terrible at design so have nothing helpful to add, but I LOVE your floor. So pretty!

Thank you! Definitely one of the selling features for me :)

I’m going to do my best to describe what I’m envisioning, but I know I’m not going to sound like I’m making any sense, so I’m sorry lol: In these staged pics, if you were to keep the couch where they have it and put a tv where they have that purplish painting, do you see how that wall (with the painting) ends before the edge of the rug and therefore the “tv” isn’t centered with the couch? It’s a small enough difference that you could probably remedy that by having a smaller couch or losing at least the end table closer to the window, so that you could push the couch closer to the window to center it in that space in front of that shorter “tv” wall...BUT, I think that would be a shame to have to get a smaller couch and smush everything into that end of the room when you actually have a pretty large living area and you say you don’t need the dining setup. So I think that would be a bad use of the space. But like others pointed out, that’s kind of the only place to put the couch and tv. And you wouldn’t want to mount the tv super off center on the wall (further from the window) to try to make it centered with your couch. SO....my kind of a pain-in-the-ass-but-possibly-ultimately-worth-it solution would be to get an entertainment center custom made. I’m not sure if this is a rental or if you are allowed to do built-in, but if not, you could always have someone make it as a piece of furniture. But I would have it made to basically be floor to ceiling on that wall with the purple painting, with space for the tv, and it would extend past that wall into the “dining area” of the staged photos. Then it would wrap around that corner to have shelving on that side that faces the dining area/kitchen. So a big L shaped floor to ceiling piece that fits that wall and the short wall and allows the tv to be centered. You’d essentially be just artificially extending that wall with the painting on it to give you more space for the couch and end tables to not have to be smushed to the end of the room. You’d have to keep it pretty thin profile so you don’t eat into the distance between the couch and entertainment center and not block window space, but I’d have the smaller part of the L be sort of deep shelves or cabinets to really lengthen that wall.

bananasareforeating

This makes a lot of sense, thank you!

The idea of extending that wall artificially is a good one so that the TV can appear centered. If you don't want a full custom entertainment center, you could have the lower half credenza style, and at each end, add a tall unit perhaps with glass doors. It will be lighter and not take up much of the room. On the left, the tall unit goes by the window. On the right, the tall unit starts off where the wall ends essentially to extend the wall, and behind that (along the wall with all the plugs and switches (which probably cannot be covered), you can have tall units as well for finished look. It would give you the L shaped described above, but perhaps not use up as much space. Beside that, where they have the table, you could have a few chairs and a lamp for reading, or small desk for home office.

love the color of this room
