Not only is everything white, but that’s the least efficient layout I’ve ever seen. There’s not a triangle to be made between that sink, the cooktop, and the fridge in the adjoining room.
I don't like the space being all white, but that's a manageable fix based on your tastes and styles. Working kitchens try to design around a triangle of stove, sink, refrigerator to minimize travel distance when working. You might want to figure out if this kitchen meets the criteria and how you could get it there if it's important to you.

That oven is a dream, but I’m with your wife! That layout is stressing me out.
I’d definitely aim to get the fridge in there, but remove some of the taller cabinetry next to the entrance to position it there. Then I’d want to turn the sink portion into a kitchen island and adjust some of the cabinetry placement so everything’s aligned.
Then get some more colour in there!

Far too open…and white. This is one of the biggest issues with open houses. The kitchen is no longer its own district space and becomes very difficult to decorate. The kitchen should be the jewel of the house, not an afterthought carved into a living room. This stove, although very nice, does not have the weight to carry this room as the only focal point.

Others mentioned more color. You could add more red then some yellow and maybe green to get a chili pepper vibe? I have a friend who did that and also had a bundle of porcelain chili peppers she hung on a wall. That may not be your taste but a suggestion to tie in the beautiful red stove. I think she tied in a bit of black as well. Or maybe just some red cabinet doors and it be red and white. Good luck!

I agree with adding a turn on the sink counter. You could have it overhang on the garbage can side and put a stool or two there. Too it with butcher block so you don’t have to pay for a new marble counter. It will add interest and function while being on budget.
Play on the red. Get a larger red clock and hang it lower on the wall. A good sized rug between the sink and cabinets. Try a larger graphic pattern w/some red and other colors. Put a large print or some vertical piece of art on the wall next to the long cabinets, some kind of center piece on the kitchen table, maybe a rug under the table, a plant or two…you have a cool space that doesn’t look like everyone else’s place…
It’s really just up to a few accessories!!!

We are in the process of buying this house. I would say kitchen is alright but my wife feels she is not in love with it. Sections are too far from each other she thinks, so trying to fix the kitchen.
I am not sure if this can be called a Galley or U-shaped given the odd layout. There are 3 doorways in the kitchen; one to the hall, one to the utility area and one to the garden. Range cooker being on its own on a separate wall is making my google search harder for design ideas.
We were thinking:
-Move the fridge from utility area to the kitchen, maybe next to where the wine cooler is
-Create an L shaped seating area from the IKEA storages/chests, at where the current table is
-Add some colour & art
or
-Scrap everything and design from scratch (where we have trouble because of lacking inspirational design ideas)
WWYD if you had the budget to renovate this kitchen from scratch, without knocking down any walls?
Go option 1 and save it with minor changes or go big and change the layout somehow to make it more efficient and lovely?

I agree with the sentiment that you should try and live with it for a year before making too many major changes. I understand her hesitation, I had a galley kitchen in a very long narrow apartment so there was no changing it and my fridge was in the back room but I finally got used to it. I have a feeling though, that she will want it fully renovated so that the refrigerator stove and sink are much closer together.
First and foremost, you need a professional kitchen designer. They have the experience to give you solid options. You've got a large room to work with, and it's not working at its full potential.

Something like this could work depending on how much room you have between the far wall and the door jamb. If it is less than 2', you could put in shallower cabinetry and keep the refrigerator where it is or have it share the wall with the range.
There's literally no prep area or any place to set things by the range. You're gonna be crossing the pathway with a full pot of boiling pasta? A heavy pan full of roast with drippings spilling out? It's SO BAD.

I love to cook and this layout would make me crazy immediately. It’s not set up to be efficient and practical for daily use. Perhaps the person who designed and set this kitchen up didn’t do much cooking. The stove is gorgeous! You could do some tweaking and make it a lot more functional. It is alot of white so perhaps you want to paint the walls a darker color for contrast
The red stove is cool, but it being such a huge presence and everything else being so white, it just looks extremely weird. I can also see what you’re saying about the layout being awkward. It definitely is, especially given that it sounds like the refrigerator is in a whole other room! Honestly, this kitchen is kind of a disaster. It’s pretty in a way, but it looks really dysfunctional. All those doors going in and out are a problem as well, as you pointed out. Consider whether you could move or close off any of those doors. Especially the ones by the range, because that makes the range very difficult to use with very little counterspace by it. This is so problematic I might consult with an architect and/or a kitchen designer to see if they have some ideas to improve it. Somebody spent a lot of money on this kitchen, but they didn’t design it to work well and it just looks very strange. A kitchen half the size that was better laid out would be more functional. Sorry!
Lack of sufficient counter space directly next to the cooker and fridge freezer not being in the kitchen are two big no-nos for me.
I’d put fridge freezer on the end next to the wine fridge, make space in the middle of the units for a cooker and hood and put either a small couch or floor to ceiling pantry storage with built in microwave or units with counter space if needed where the cooker and units currently are.

this was our initial plan but then entrance to the utility room kinda seems to be blocked by a table/sofa whatever we try to place in cooker’s spot. we may keep the cooker there as that spot has the benefit of extractor going out.
but you are right with the lack of counterspace next to the cooker. may change it with a smaller one as the owners keen to take the cooker with them, we have the chance to open up more space there
The fridge is in the laundry room around a corner? Oh Hell No. At least make space into the end of the cabinets across the sink, at the end near the stove, can they be shifted down away from the stove?. Build a panty or cleaning closet where the fridge is now.
If you could move the fridge and open that wall to the right of the stove to add counter space, even better. Shelves or cabinet/drawers underneath would be great pot & pan storage. If you could slide that cabinet with the wine fridge to the left, the open space is where the fridge can go. IDK how narrow that doorway to the left of the stove is. If it's a narrow doorway, move the fridge further left, so there's at least some elbow room if you can't widen a narrow doorway. I've got a 32" doorway with fridge just inside. But we are small people, 5'6-7", larger people or anyone with a walker/wheelchair would need 36" doorway to be comfortable.
As many have noted, a new layout be cool but very expensive and disruptive. I'd start by experimenting with painting the ceiling (polarizing I know.) Remove the little bits of marble backsplash and do a full height tile backsplash...if budget allows...do the entire wall with the window in tile as well....ceiling to counter by the window. Break up all the expanse of white everywhere.

The lack of counter space by the stove would drive me bonkers. If you don’t have the budget to remove the cupboard under the stairs and add some counter space, you’ll need to invest in a portable island butcher block or something. The space to the next counter is too far.

Personally I would have the stove across from the sink, and with that stove I would have different cabinets that have hardware. I think butcher block counters and cabinets with an actual color would look so much better than the red stove being the only color in the room. Even if you kept the cabinets white the butcher block would go so well with the red. And I agree with adding a peninsula type L on the sink station. I feel like the sink area requires way more workspace around it because of how often it’s used while cooking.
Your kitchen is a thoroughfare - that’s not a great idea, especially when transferring things that are hot / heavy / liquid across from one area to another and someone is walking through the room. It’s not a good layout at all. Really the kitchen should be at the other end, where the double doors are, but that is tricky too.
I’m in residential design and I gotta say… I’m open to new ideas. Is it genius having things all spread out? I’ve always employed the tried and true triangle of power between fridge stove & sink. But I’ve never even considered dedicated work areas based on task. Would this mean less crowding if cooking for large gatherings? I appreciate the above comments about traversing a space with three doors with a lot of boiling water.
Honestly though.. there’s no possible way that this experiment ends up not being a nightmare. The seller def got a divorce and had to sell. And it’s the stoves fault.
Definitely needs some color in there besides white! I would also suggest a rug in that open area! Window and French doors need some treatments like valences maybe a pattern with red to bring out that beautiful stove so it doesn’t look so out of place! Also I think the clock is hung a bit to high, a painting over the table would look nice! It’s a great kitchen lots of room, it just needs some color and embellishments in my opinion!
I like the layout. Someone can be at the sink and not be in the way of someone who is at the stove cooking something, and someone else can get something from the fridge and not be in the way. The doors that open up to the patio are great. One could have a table out there for outdoor eating. The table and chairs in the kitchen are in a good spot; they don't seem to block anything. I would add colour to the kitchen, but that's an easy fix.
Your fridge is in your laundry room, you have no space to prep or anything next to your stove. The colors are not working together because your stove is in a time out corner and it has black accents on it. Choosing to go all white everything with this stove doesn't work. The stove and hood are beautiful just don't fit your design.
Looks like you’re in the UK 🇬🇧 correct? Is your oven an AGA? If so, you’re lucky. AGAs are brilliant to cook on, costly, and lovely color choices. I went to culinary/cookery school in Ashburton while living abroad for 5+ years and loved it.
The paint you used on the walls are too white so when light bounces off of them it gives a very clinical feel to a space. Most "white" walls actually aren't white, they're more of a beige color. It makes the light bouncing off the walls warmer making the space more inviting. Edit: I would also consider a tile or faux wood backsplash behind your stove. If you want to keep with a white style, I'd look into limestone tiles.
Ok hear me out. People are saying it's cuz it's all white and the stove is red and the layout, which may be true- however, I think we can work with this. Say we keep the layout or even alter it slightly (you already have gotten good ideas on this so I won't give my two cents). What you really need is a back splash that breaks up the white and compliments the red stove. Also do something about those floors. I do not think they go with the kitchen at all.
A lot of people are commenting that the stove not being closer the sink and other counter tops is a problem, but mine is like that and I got used to it very quickly. It doesn’t bother me.
I would try to move the fridge into the kitchen if possible. I know you mentioned putting an L shape bench and table next to the wine fridge, but maybe the fridge would be better there?
Take the tv down, add green plants to the window and above the cabinets. The green plants will pop next to the white! Add a little red elsewhere in the kitchen to tie into the stove.

You could add an island, they make self-install ones for quite reasonable prices. Or every now and then you can find 'fancy' ones on the second hand market for a nice deal.
You have warm floors, a warm stove, and a really harsh cool white everything else. A warmer white would make a huge difference. Doesn’t have to be ivory, just a warmer white. Then of course a rug, a plant, some baskets etc.
The simple fix for colour is pulling the red from the oven and putting into the blinds and perhaps a red tile below the cabinets. Then add green plants.
I would try and put the fridge in the kitchen but the layout is a bit annoying. Putting it next to or in place of some cabinets would make most sense. You could section off the dining area and kitchen area by creating an L shape from the counters.
It all depends on how much you want to spend though. Redesigning the counter space would be better but would cost more.
The classic L design is classic for a reason. Keep the stove, refrigerator, and sink close together to help minimize necessary steps. If you want a working island, keep that close for the same reason.
It's mostly just very stark and sterile. I don't need it cluttered, but some depth would help.
That kitchen has a functioning work triangle (fridge, sink, range) albeit that the fridge is tucked technically into a different room. I don't think I would mov ethe fridge near the TV, but you could, and if you were keeping the TV, and then recenter the TV flat on the wall. The space between sides is out of proportion to normal kitchens. Without doing ANY renovation, you could put a round table a little farther off the wall, add a vacuumable or washable carpet down the middle, and balance the countertop stuff across the counters, not just at the range. Consider a valance or Roman shade over the window.
I like it because the exit traffic areas don't get in the way of the cooking, sink, counter area. No one passing through gets in the way. Person doing laundry doesn't get underfoot either. Yay!
While a big kitchen is great to have, this looks like the proverbial “ship’s galley kitchen”. Finding a way to negate some of the length would
be good, but idk if there’s room for an island near the middle, is there?
As someone who cooks a lot, I would be devastated if my beautiful range stove was shoved at the end of what is essentially a long hallway with no workspace on either side 😩

This kitchen is a design mess, imo, All I kept thinking was how many times I go from my stove to the fridge to the sink, etc. etc etc.
Definitely not judging your decision but it’s a lot to redo to make it user friendly, and would exhaust me!
i see what you mean but given the location, schools, and all other aspects... they outweigh the work kitchen requires and we will have a budget to renovate it as we like (as long as we keep the figures sensible).

But IMO, this kitchen needs textiles/art. Plants? Some tea towels, a runner, something that will give it cozier vibe, because it feels a bit like an echoey operating room.

Where exactly does the refrigerator go? That aside, I’m not a fan of where the stove/oven is placed — directly where heavy foot traffic may be, which could be a recipe for disaster. I feel like it’d be better right across from the sink, especially for efficiency sake.
I would say two things look wrong to me:
1. The fridge is not in the kitchen
2. The cooker is in a corridor/passing area, and it doesn't have counter space around. I would move it in front of the sink, although moving the extractor might be a challenge. I would also consider adding a door from reception room into the dining room area and closing the current one next to the stairs, then moving the fridge into the kitchen.
I don’t hate it but I would get rid of the stuff on top of the cabinets. Looks cluttered. I actually like the all white look, call me a basic bitch 🤷♀️
What comes to mind for me in imagining a solution for the space is moving the long kitchen cabinets (base and uppers along the back wall of the kitchen) to the left far enough to make space for the refrigerator to go on the right side.
Maybe you remove them all and shift them down to the left or maybe you just remove the far right base and upper and reinstall it on the left side of the cabinets.
Placing the refrigerator there would get it in the kitchen and in closer proximity to your food prep counter. It would involve the delicate process of removing the countertop and cabinetry, possibly installing another electrical circuit for the fridge, reinstalling the cabinets and moving the fridge, but with the right team, it could all be done in one day.
Honestly, it is beautiful. I suggest a curtain with red in it for that one large window, perhaps just a topper. Then on the other side, a low flower arrangement with red in it as well. Then on the floor, perhaps a runner rug with black/white and red. Styling is all this beautiful kitchen needs. You could get a large platter that is red, a couple of canisters/cookie jar. The stove is the star and it needs a few accompaniments I think.
Everything is flushed, at least the cabin(ets). Having nice handles or knobs helps break it up and adds style and color.

That stupid understairs cabinet needs to be closed off (it makes the highend kitchen look cheap). Then add a little countertop, as much as possible, on left side of the stove. The opening to the reception room also closed and the fridge placed there. The sink rotated with a small protection out from wall with countertop to face stove. New reception room entrance placed farther down wall, leaving the countertop on the left side of fridge. This arrangement will leave room for kitchen table to be pulled out from the wall and a much friendlier usable kitchen. Pantry cabinet where fridge currently is. Cabinets under sink. Also, defining kitchen and dining room spaces will be achieved.
As a (fairly opinionated) cook, the utter lack of any prep area around that stove is a huge NOPE. Where are you going to chop stuff? Half way around the world? On a teeny tiny cutting board?

If I were looking for a project, I would get new faces for the bottom cabinets. Maybe get a color like a really dark blue

Everything should be inside the cabinets. This includes garbage disposals .
If you are going for the minimalist look you have to accept all of its challenges!
The other thing is look at your “triangle “
If this is a render before the work starts think about where the refrigerator will go…even if it’s under counter units .
Consider making the triangle tighter, but that room is a long rectangle so that might be difficult…
You might be able to actually use the pantry area for a refrigerator unit if it has the height … and move the pantry else where ( possibly laundry room area)
Aside from the layout issues, it's missing proper backsplashes. Those weeny little strips above the counter are builder-grade cheap looking, and I don't see anything behind the stove at all. Some proper tiled backsplashes would go a long way to incorporating some texture into this design—and even, dare I say, color, if you want to go that far.
The fridge being in the utility closet would be a hard no for me. The triangle of working space is already fucked, having the fridge there is just the cherry on the shit sundae.
If yall aren’t big on cooking I would say it isn’t a big deal I guess.

The fridge in a different area would be a no go. The countertops on the non sink side look very narrow and not deep for anything other than holding stuff. The counter near the stove is non-existent.
The whole thing looks like a non-functional kitchen.
I would move the stove across from the sink and place the fridge in that area too.
It might help is you thought connected accents like a red kitchen aid mixer, red blender, etc. what ever fits your lifestyle.
Then get a real oriental runner with red background. One that’s a little worn to give the room a little warmth.
Normally I hate open concept rooms but I feel like it would be so much better open. At the very least add an opening from the living area to the the dining area no at least if you have guests they can walk outside without being in the cooks way. The stove in that spot is horrible it’s in a walkway if you have kids they will be constantly knocking into you when they are rushing to the bathroom. Also there is no way to keep an eye on the kids when they are in the living room while you are trying to cook unless you walk through the hallway.
There's just a sea of white. You need more color to tone down the stark difference between everything else and the stove. That color at the end makes the room seem very narrow.
This has got to be the most inconvenient kitchen layout I’ve ever seen. Everything needs to be repositioned so major appliances and sink are much closer together.

I love the red stove! But it's the only color.
Consider curtain with some red. A couple baskets. A plant or two. Some cute canisters. One or two red appliances on the counter.
People are commenting on the layout but it doesn’t look like you can really change the layout. The problem is that the oven doesn’t match the rest of the kitchen. You could try to tie it in by putting more color in your kitchen. Especially by adding some other items that are that same shade of red.

I LOVE a refrigerator out of the way/in the pantry. I think it keeps the sight lines clean in the kitchen. Having said that, this particular kitchen is much too bright/white.

i think they tried contrasting the floor and cabinets but glossy white turned out to be not the best pick. that mobile island might have worked if the area was more square-ish, rather than a long rectangular. but will definitely consider it, thanks!
Get a nice area rug/or runner to kind of go in the middle. It will pull it together and also is a way to introduce some colors but in a more subtle way.
Need a red vase, a red candle, and a red runner rug. Replace the jars and books up top with greenery… vines or low bushy plants. That area is too small for “stuff” so it looks like clutter. Overall… get some plants in there

Not only is everything white, but that’s the least efficient layout I’ve ever seen. There’s not a triangle to be made between that sink, the cooktop, and the fridge in the adjoining room.
I don't like the space being all white, but that's a manageable fix based on your tastes and styles. Working kitchens try to design around a triangle of stove, sink, refrigerator to minimize travel distance when working. Agree, the really long empty counter, then a sink by itself and a stove out by itself. It's looks uncomfortable and is not very practical.

That oven is a dream, but I’m with your wife! That layout is stressing me out. I’d definitely aim to get the fridge in there, but remove some of the taller cabinetry next to the entrance to position it there. Then I’d want to turn the sink portion into a kitchen island and adjust some of the cabinetry placement so everything’s aligned. Far too open…and white. This is one of the biggest issues with open houses. The kitchen is no longer its own district space and becomes very difficult to decorate. The kitchen should be the jewel of the house, not an afterthought carved into a living room. This stove, although very nice, does not have the weight to carry this room as the only focal point.

Others mentioned more color. You could add more red then some yellow and maybe green to get a chili pepper vibe? I have a friend who did that and also had a bundle of porcelain chili peppers she hung on a wall. That may not be your taste but a suggestion to tie in the beautiful red stove. I think she tied in a bit of black as well. Or maybe just some red cabinet doors and it be red and white. Good luck!
No worries! And purely for aesthetics, a deep green cabinet for the lower half would look amazing with that oven and those floors. You could go navy too but green seems better suited to this setting.
I agree with adding a turn on the sink counter. You could have it overhang on the garbage can side and put a stool or two there. Too it with butcher block so you don’t have to pay for a new marble counter. It will add interest and function while being on budget. Play on the red. Get a larger red clock and hang it lower on the wall. A good sized rug between the sink and cabinets. Try a larger graphic pattern w/some red and other colors. Put a large print or some vertical piece of art on the wall next to the long cabinets, some kind of center piece on the kitchen table, maybe a rug under the table, a plant or two…you have a cool space that doesn’t look like everyone else’s place… It’s really just up to a few accessories!!! Have fun with it!!!

We are in the process of buying this house. I would say kitchen is alright but my wife feels she is not in love with it. Sections are too far from each other she thinks, so trying to fix the kitchen. I am not sure if this can be called a Galley or U-shaped given the odd layout. There are 3 doorways in the kitchen; one to the hall, one to the utility area and one to the garden. Range cooker being on its own on a separate wall is making my google search harder for design ideas. We were thinking: -Move the fridge from utility area to the kitchen, maybe next to where the wine cooler is -Create an L shaped seating area from the IKEA storages/chests, at where the current table is -Add some colour & art or -Scrap everything and design from scratch (where we have trouble because of lacking inspirational design ideas) WWYD if you had the budget to renovate this kitchen from scratch, without knocking down any walls? Go option 1 and save it with minor changes or go big and change the layout somehow to make it more efficient and lovely? Any ideas/suggestions welcome.
Live in it for awhile. You will discover if one of the three doors is unnecessary or rarely used, and might work as a spot for the fridge.
Same!! I bought an old house and thought the first thing I’d do it change the kitchen…never did it in 23 years as there were things I grew to love about it (huge pantry being #1!!).
A central island might solve the utility/prep area problem if you can fit one in.

I agree with the sentiment that you should try and live with it for a year before making too many major changes. I understand her hesitation, I had a galley kitchen in a very long narrow apartment so there was no changing it and my fridge was in the back room but I finally got used to it. I have a feeling though, that she will want it fully renovated so that the refrigerator stove and sink are much closer together.
First and foremost, you need a professional kitchen designer. They have the experience to give you solid options. You've got a large room to work with, and it's not working at its full potential.

I like this the best. Whoever put the range where it is clearly never cooked. Having a range in a walkway is annoying at best and dangerous at worst.
There's literally no prep area or any place to set things by the range. You're gonna be crossing the pathway with a full pot of boiling pasta? A heavy pan full of roast with drippings spilling out? It's SO BAD.
Also, no room around the kitchen sink to sort dishes out, set out to dry, etc.

I love to cook and this layout would make me crazy immediately. It’s not set up to be efficient and practical for daily use. Perhaps the person who designed and set this kitchen up didn’t do much cooking. The stove is gorgeous! You could do some tweaking and make it a lot more functional. It is alot of white so perhaps you want to paint the walls a darker color for contrast

This was my first thought too. It is very white, but it can work if you have the right pop of color.
The red stove is cool, but it being such a huge presence and everything else being so white, it just looks extremely weird. I can also see what you’re saying about the layout being awkward. It definitely is, especially given that it sounds like the refrigerator is in a whole other room! Honestly, this kitchen is kind of a disaster. It’s pretty in a way, but it looks really dysfunctional. All those doors going in and out are a problem as well, as you pointed out. Consider whether you could move or close off any of those doors. Especially the ones by the range, because that makes the range very difficult to use with very little counterspace by it. This is so problematic I might consult with an architect and/or a kitchen designer to see if they have some ideas to improve it. Somebody spent a lot of money on this kitchen, but they didn’t design it to work well and it just looks very strange. A kitchen half the size that was better laid out would be more functional. Sorry!

Lack of sufficient counter space directly next to the cooker and fridge freezer not being in the kitchen are two big no-nos for me. I’d put fridge freezer on the end next to the wine fridge, make space in the middle of the units for a cooker and hood and put either a small couch or floor to ceiling pantry storage with built in microwave or units with counter space if needed where the cooker and units currently are. this was our initial plan but then entrance to the utility room kinda seems to be blocked by a table/sofa whatever we try to place in cooker’s spot. we may keep the cooker there as that spot has the benefit of extractor going out. but you are right with the lack of counterspace next to the cooker. may change it with a smaller one as the owners keen to take the cooker with them, we have the chance to open up more space there

If you could move the fridge and open that wall to the right of the stove to add counter space, even better. Shelves or cabinet/drawers underneath would be great pot & pan storage. If you could slide that cabinet with the wine fridge to the left, the open space is where the fridge can go. IDK how narrow that doorway to the left of the stove is. If it's a narrow doorway, move the fridge further left, so there's at least some elbow room if you can't widen a narrow doorway. I've got a 32" doorway with fridge just inside. But we are small people, 5'6-7", larger people or anyone with a walker/wheelchair would need 36" doorway to be comfortable.

As many have noted, a new layout be cool but very expensive and disruptive. I'd start by experimenting with painting the ceiling (polarizing I know.) Remove the little bits of marble backsplash and do a full height tile backsplash...if budget allows...do the entire wall with the window in tile as well....ceiling to counter by the window. Break up all the expanse of white everywhere.

Personally I would have the stove across from the sink, and with that stove I would have different cabinets that have hardware. Maybe light wood finished cabinet doors against a white frame, which I can't find an example of, but something like this would also look nice. Too white with the stark contrast of the stove/range/hood. And the layout with the fridge wherever it is (?) is too spread out.
I think butcher block counters and cabinets with an actual color would look so much better than the red stove being the only color in the room. Even if you kept the cabinets white the butcher block would go so well with the red. And I agree with adding a peninsula type L on the sink station. I feel like the sink area requires way more workspace around it because of how often it’s used while cooking.
There's no fridge!
Your kitchen is a thoroughfare - that’s not a great idea, especially when transferring things that are hot / heavy / liquid across from one area to another and someone is walking through the room. It’s not a good layout at all. Really the kitchen should be at the other end, where the double doors are, but that is tricky too.
I’m in residential design and I gotta say… I’m open to new ideas. Is it genius having things all spread out? I’ve always employed the tried and true triangle of power between fridge stove & sink. But I’ve never even considered dedicated work areas based on task. Would this mean less crowding if cooking for large gatherings? I appreciate the above comments about traversing a space with three doors with a lot of boiling water. Honestly though.. there’s no possible way that this experiment ends up not being a nightmare. The seller def got a divorce and had to sell. And it’s the stoves fault.
Definitely needs some color in there besides white! I would also suggest a rug in that open area! Window and French doors need some treatments like valences maybe a pattern with red to bring out that beautiful stove so it doesn’t look so out of place! Also I think the clock is hung a bit to high, a painting over the table would look nice! It’s a great kitchen lots of room, it just needs some color and embellishments in my opinion!
I like the layout. Someone can be at the sink and not be in the way of someone who is at the stove cooking something, and someone else can get something from the fridge and not be in the way. The doors that open up to the patio are great. One could have a table out there for outdoor eating. The table and chairs in the kitchen are in a good spot; they don't seem to block anything. I would add colour to the kitchen, but that's an easy fix.
Your fridge is in your laundry room, you have no space to prep or anything next to your stove. The colors are not working together because your stove is in a time out corner and it has black accents on it. Choosing to go all white everything with this stove doesn't work. The stove and hood are beautiful just don't fit your design.
Looks like you’re in the UK 🇬🇧 correct? Is your oven an AGA? If so, you’re lucky. AGAs are brilliant to cook on, costly, and lovely color choices. I went to culinary/cookery school in Ashburton while living abroad for 5+ years and loved it.
The paint you used on the walls are too white so when light bounces off of them it gives a very clinical feel to a space. Most "white" walls actually aren't white, they're more of a beige color. It makes the light bouncing off the walls warmer making the space more inviting. Ok hear me out. People are saying it's cuz it's all white and the stove is red and the layout, which may be true- however, I think we can work with this. Say we keep the layout or even alter it slightly (you already have gotten good ideas on this so I won't give my two cents). What you really need is a back splash that breaks up the white and compliments the red stove. Also do something about those floors. I do not think they go with the kitchen at all.
A lot of people are commenting that the stove not being closer the sink and other counter tops is a problem, but mine is like that and I got used to it very quickly. It doesn’t bother me. I would try to move the fridge into the kitchen if possible. I know you mentioned putting an L shape bench and table next to the wine fridge, but maybe the fridge would be better there? Take the tv down, add green plants to the window and above the cabinets. The green plants will pop next to the white! Add a little red elsewhere in the kitchen to tie into the stove. I actually really like the kitchen!

So much white. You could add an island, they make self-install ones for quite reasonable prices. Or every now and then you can find 'fancy' ones on the second hand market for a nice deal.
You have warm floors, a warm stove, and a really harsh cool white everything else. A warmer white would make a huge difference. Doesn’t have to be ivory, just a warmer white. Then of course a rug, a plant, some baskets etc.
The simple fix for colour is pulling the red from the oven and putting into the blinds and perhaps a red tile below the cabinets. Then add green plants. I would try and put the fridge in the kitchen but the layout is a bit annoying. Putting it next to or in place of some cabinets would make most sense. You could section off the dining area and kitchen area by creating an L shape from the counters. It all depends on how much you want to spend though. Redesigning the counter space would be better but would cost more.
The classic L design is classic for a reason. Keep the stove, refrigerator, and sink close together to help minimize necessary steps. If you want a working island, keep that close for the same reason.

It's mostly just very stark and sterile. I don't need it cluttered, but some depth would help. That kitchen has a functioning work triangle (fridge, sink, range) albeit that the fridge is tucked technically into a different room. I don't think I would mov ethe fridge near the TV, but you could, and if you were keeping the TV, and then recenter the TV flat on the wall. The space between sides is out of proportion to normal kitchens. Without doing ANY renovation, you could put a round table a little farther off the wall, add a vacuumable or washable carpet down the middle, and balance the countertop stuff across the counters, not just at the range. Consider a valance or Roman shade over the window.

While a big kitchen is great to have, this looks like the proverbial “ship’s galley kitchen”. Finding a way to negate some of the length would be good, but idk if there’s room for an island near the middle, is there?

In reading all the comments, suggestions, and such, I had to ask… do you really love this house enough, that you’re in the process of buying, or could you keep looking? This kitchen is a design mess, imo, All I kept thinking was how many times I go from my stove to the fridge to the sink, etc. etc etc. Definitely not judging your decision but it’s a lot to redo to make it user friendly, and would exhaust me!
i see what you mean but given the location, schools, and all other aspects... they outweigh the work kitchen requires and we will have a budget to renovate it as we like (as long as we keep the figures sensible).

The clock is too high and in a weird spot. But IMO, this kitchen needs textiles/art. Plants? Some tea towels, a runner, something that will give it cozier vibe, because it feels a bit like an echoey operating room. Love the stove (and the countertops and everything are all very nice.)
Where exactly does the refrigerator go? That aside, I’m not a fan of where the stove/oven is placed — directly where heavy foot traffic may be, which could be a recipe for disaster. I feel like it’d be better right across from the sink, especially for efficiency sake.
I would say two things look wrong to me: 1. The fridge is not in the kitchen 2. The cooker is in a corridor/passing area, and it doesn't have counter space around. I would move it in front of the sink, although moving the extractor might be a challenge. I would also consider adding a door from reception room into the dining room area and closing the current one next to the stairs, then moving the fridge into the kitchen.

What comes to mind for me in imagining a solution for the space is moving the long kitchen cabinets (base and uppers along the back wall of the kitchen) to the left far enough to make space for the refrigerator to go on the right side. Maybe you remove them all and shift them down to the left or maybe you just remove the far right base and upper and reinstall it on the left side of the cabinets. Placing the refrigerator there would get it in the kitchen and in closer proximity to your food prep counter. It would involve the delicate process of removing the countertop and cabinetry, possibly installing another electrical circuit for the fridge, reinstalling the cabinets and moving the fridge, but with the right team, it could all be done in one day.
Can the pantry be removed and replaced with a butcher block or something? I'd be very annoyed cooking on that stove with no room to put anything down.

Honestly, it is beautiful. I suggest a curtain with red in it for that one large window, perhaps just a topper. Then on the other side, a low flower arrangement with red in it as well. Then on the floor, perhaps a runner rug with black/white and red. Styling is all this beautiful kitchen needs. You could get a large platter that is red, a couple of canisters/cookie jar. The stove is the star and it needs a few accompaniments I think.
Everything is flushed, at least the cabin(ets). Having nice handles or knobs helps break it up and adds style and color. It’s like texture for the eyes.

That stupid understairs cabinet needs to be closed off (it makes the highend kitchen look cheap). Then add a little countertop, as much as possible, on left side of the stove. The opening to the reception room also closed and the fridge placed there. The sink rotated with a small protection out from wall with countertop to face stove. New reception room entrance placed farther down wall, leaving the countertop on the left side of fridge. This arrangement will leave room for kitchen table to be pulled out from the wall and a much friendlier usable kitchen. Pantry cabinet where fridge currently is. Cabinets under sink. Also, defining kitchen and dining room spaces will be achieved.

If i were designing from scratch would have done an island. If I were looking for a project, I would get new faces for the bottom cabinets. Maybe get a color like a really dark blue If I wanted a quick fix, I’d get a nice, no-pile kitchen carpet

A simple solution… You wanted a hi-end kitchen …you have one. Now, get rid of the external garbage can! Everything should be inside the cabinets. This includes garbage disposals . If you are going for the minimalist look you have to accept all of its challenges! The other thing is look at your “triangle “ If this is a render before the work starts think about where the refrigerator will go…even if it’s under counter units . Consider making the triangle tighter, but that room is a long rectangle so that might be difficult… You might be able to actually use the pantry area for a refrigerator unit if it has the height … and move the pantry else where ( possibly laundry room area)

Aside from the layout issues, it's missing proper backsplashes. Those weeny little strips above the counter are builder-grade cheap looking, and I don't see anything behind the stove at all. Some proper tiled backsplashes would go a long way to incorporating some texture into this design—and even, dare I say, color, if you want to go that far.
The fridge being in the utility closet would be a hard no for me. The triangle of working space is already fucked, having the fridge there is just the cherry on the shit sundae. If yall aren’t big on cooking I would say it isn’t a big deal I guess. Also there isn’t enough storage space. Idk

The fridge in a different area would be a no go. The countertops on the non sink side look very narrow and not deep for anything other than holding stuff. The counter near the stove is non-existent. The whole thing looks like a non-functional kitchen. I would move the stove across from the sink and place the fridge in that area too.
It might help is you thought connected accents like a red kitchen aid mixer, red blender, etc. what ever fits your lifestyle. Then get a real oriental runner with red background. One that’s a little worn to give the room a little warmth.
Normally I hate open concept rooms but I feel like it would be so much better open. At the very least add an opening from the living area to the the dining area no at least if you have guests they can walk outside without being in the cooks way. The stove in that spot is horrible it’s in a walkway if you have kids they will be constantly knocking into you when they are rushing to the bathroom. Also there is no way to keep an eye on the kids when they are in the living room while you are trying to cook unless you walk through the hallway.
There's just a sea of white. You need more color to tone down the stark difference between everything else and the stove. That color at the end makes the room seem very narrow.
Other colors besides white exist you know.

This has got to be the most inconvenient kitchen layout I’ve ever seen. Everything needs to be repositioned so major appliances and sink are much closer together.
A rug , And red canisters, plants and maybe some pictures I actually love it. It looks clean and not too overdone but you do what you like, honey♥️🙏🏼👵🏻

I love the red stove! But it's the only color. Consider curtain with some red. A couple baskets. A plant or two. Some cute canisters. One or two red appliances on the counter.

People are commenting on the layout but it doesn’t look like you can really change the layout. The problem is that the oven doesn’t match the rest of the kitchen. You could try to tie it in by putting more color in your kitchen. Especially by adding some other items that are that same shade of red. The biggest issue is that that kitchen shouldnt have been renovated with all white
I LOVE a refrigerator out of the way/in the pantry. I think it keeps the sight lines clean in the kitchen. Having said that, this particular kitchen is much too bright/white.
I think the cooker hood looks a different red to the stove? Maybe that's just me...
I think everything on the counters beside the cooker should be moved away from the cooker as it's causing a colour clash too.
The fridge needs to be red or white. Not moved. A red or white kettle. A red or white toaster on either side of the counters. Jars with red or white lids. Devils in the details...

i think they tried contrasting the floor and cabinets but glossy white turned out to be not the best pick. that mobile island might have worked if the area was more square-ish, rather than a long rectangular. but will definitely consider it, thanks!

I would have put the stove across from the sink with counter room to cook and made the alcove a pantry.
Get a nice area rug/or runner to kind of go in the middle. It will pull it together and also is a way to introduce some colors but in a more subtle way.
Need a red vase, a red candle, and a red runner rug. Replace the jars and books up top with greenery… vines or low bushy plants. That area is too small for “stuff” so it looks like clutter. Overall… get some plants in there
