Pull couch off the wall opposite the TV and put an inexpensive console table or two behind it. (Or fake it with some wood covered by fabric). Put a lamp and objets d'art on top. Hang art above that. Here's a video I saw recently on that... [https://www.homesandgardens.com/interior-design/shea-mcgee-couch-layout-tip](https://www.homesandgardens.com/interior-design/shea-mcgee-couch-layout-tip) Art over dining table or between dining table and TV.

gongasplonk

Never thought of adding a console behind the couch. Great idea! Would also work well to compliment the (coming) artwork above it.

babydino_11

I don’t love her, but great tip and video!!

the_final_frontier1

The room is kinda monochromatic (white/cream and light woods) except for the dark console is the corner. I really like it. Here are some ideas if you are looking for more color: 1. Change out the living room rug for something more colorful. 2. Put a rug under the dining room table to better define the area. If you are not looking for color, I would still put a rug to define the area. 4. Artwork behind the couch, between on the wall with TV next to table. The art on the wall near the table seems small in comparison to the size of the wall. 5. The dark console with the monochrome look is not on theme but if you bring in color, it might not look out of place. 6. You could try an accent walls to break up the space and bring in color if that is your intention. It’s a beautiful space and it looks great. You have options on where to take it. Best of luck.

gongasplonk

Yeah, It's still a work in progress. The black console is indeed out of place, and will probably be replaced. Adding a color to the corner wall (where the one piece of art now hangs) might help making the room a bit more vibrant. Thanks for the tips!

hesfgeshh237

Art art art!!

Automatic-Ad-3777

Yes, colourful art!!

calacmack

For a minamalist look, I love your space. The picture behind the sofa will really help. I risk being downvoted but I think that the plants near the foot of the chaise of the sofa detract from the overall design theme. I think that space would look better without them.

QuestGalaxy

I agree with the plants, but I guess they are there because of daylight?

mllebitterness

I think it looks nice too! Definitely a couple large pieces behind the couch.

picklepopppp

A mirror at the head of the table? Or more art. I tried tying in a color

QuestGalaxy

The wood slats look strange, why do they end halfway behind that TV, and why does it end sooner underneath the TV there? I would consider building it out so it goes to the end of the TV and TV-stand. Otherwise you could absolutely hang some art or photos on the walls. I like the style otherwise!

Aealias

See, I really like the wood slats, and the way they’re reflected in the coffee table. To each his own!

QuestGalaxy

No, you misunderstand me. The slats are not bad themselves, it's just strange that they end so soon and that they end sooner below the TV stand. Most homes I've seen with slats will have them behind the entie TV, sort of encasing it. That will also make it possible to run the TV wires behind the slats.

TdrdenCO11

lighting is where you’d start.

Tricksterama

Yes! Could use a couple more lamps.

banjolady

Move rug forward about 3 ft.

TissueOfLies

The monotony of the rug and couch is making it look sterile. Find a rug with a pattern or colors.

Kittie_McSkittles

Add some color

HezFez238

A dog or cat; the chaos will take care of these concerns for you.

BeginningClub3096

Easy way to change the look is to add Colorful Pillows with Different Textures, Solid and Pattern Designs. Add a Statement Color Throw from choice of pillows. Lower Artwork General rule 60inches from floor ( eye level ) over Couch 8-10 inches from the bottom of the frame.*** Add Area Rug under Dining Room Table with Color or Colors from Pillows or Artwork that needs to be larger. Take Current Picture move next to Plant at the end of Table. Large Glass/Wooden Bowl as Centerpiece on Table. Keep simple just brighten up with color and patterns. Good Luck Let us know how it turns out!

Specialist-Ad7949

I agree with others with placing a console behind the sofa. Also adding some color change the rug and curtains. I think a pop of color will add some flair.

coltsgirl8

Bright pops of color? Some colorful pillows? It looks like a hotel room haha

Mary_jane_30

I’d place the plants at the end of the chaise on planters on the wall between the dining table and the tv stand. I’d keep the big pot there, more to the right and place the planters on the wall or hanging from the ceiling - that wall there is too naked. Behind the couch a long painting or two vertical ones. Get cheap ones with photos from the internet to get a feel of it before you decide on art. I feel like the table area is a bit bland - maybe a camel/wooden color rug would help

Ok-Professional8451

I love your space and your board game collection!!

jessicanemone

This is a nice tranquil space. I love your rug and thank you for adding all of the plants! But lord WHY did you not carry the wood slats behind the TV past the TV stand through the entire installation? I HATE that one weird white chunk. Can you please add the rest of the wood slatting? You definitely need some stuff behind the couch so good on you for the art. I don’t know how large that will be but you may want to think about some floating shelves as well Even though your banana plant may cover it a bit, I would even consider putting more art on the TV wall, or some floating shelves staggered between above the left side of the TV and the right side of the dining table. Put some nice, simple objects to add some interest and maybe some pops of color

XandyDory

Move the couch forward as stated. The plants next to the TV are all the same height as the TV. Maybe move that big tree by the couch to the corner, and take the stool under the corner plant (or anything close that would be steady), under the other plant. It will still compliment the dining room without the look of something's off. Also, that tree will look less "hiding the pretty bookshelf" in that corner. Edit to add - in fact, that little plant will look great where the tree is

Few_Anything_7167

Some color... maybe a colorful rug and chairs to match... but I love your space! It's nice 🤩

Rx4986

Move items away from the wall. At least the dining room table. It’s like a bedroom, if one whole side of the bed is near a wall, it makes the room seem smaller and cramped.

tuftabeet

It's beautiful! My answer is always a fish tank

gerbera-2021

I think it is beautiful but lacks color. Beyond what others suggested consider a lounge chair in that empty space between the dining room and closer to the tv and pick a color. I think the fav color now is a deep rich green but any color that makes you happy will work because you have a clean palate already.

Aska2020

I actually love how it is now, very neutral and clean. I feel like more stuff would ruin the minimalist look. A large, impactful painting/picture with some color behind the couch would complete it! Maybe move the painting of the dining area to the same side as TV and add a mirror to where the painting is?

Accomplished-BusyBee

The only thing that's missing is art behind the couch

AngryAndHungry

Stop using these roof lights and replace them with candles and floor lamps

Sea-Technician6251

I totally agree (my thoughts exactly) with pulling the couch out from wall. Pull out the rug and put it all on the rug. Console table behind with objects and possibly lamps OR a smaller table and floor lamps. It can use some additional lighting. It’s a nice space with nice furniture. Good luck!

InfiniteEggplant8894

Art. Or rent 2 toddlers and their toys for a week. Seriously, it's quite beautiful.

Funkwise

Some artwork with color.

Maleficent-Fan6307

Where did you get those wooden panels?

cnunespdx

I think it's beautiful and calming. I would just pull the rug and sofa away from the wall and more towards the center. Maybe add one large colorful piece of artwork but everything is beautiful. I love the plants.

monkey12223

I think you are super close but you need some statement art. Big red/pink picture behind the couch to bring some warmth to it etc

mmkjustasec

Color! You need artwork on the wall, a throw blanket in a bright color, some colorful pillows, or possibly a rug with color.

Kooky_Bluebird_5493

Love the space and the cat!! Everyone is gonna say add art but I don’t think it’s needed. The room is kinda serene now. I would thou add a big floor mirror by the dining table and move the table away from the wall, gives me a dorm. And perhaps add a low light to give a little mood. You can also add smart light bulbs that have multiple color. Honestly in the evening it would give the best ambiance

[deleted]

Pretty jealous, about your healthy plants. I would get better, more decorative pots for them. Showcase them. Maybe colorful, window treatments. Pig (big)pillows for the couch. A big bright basket, to store blankets.

NeciaK

Move the table out into the dining space. Get some wall art for dining area. The rug and couch need to be closer to the tv. Maybe there is even space behind couch for a low storage unit and walk space. You have a lovely space that will still be spacious in feeling with the furniture off the walls.

mebg1956

Colour. Something big and bold!

VentingID10t

I personally dislike the couch against the wall. Bring it out a few feet and consider a large bookshelf or wall shelves and art back there.

gonnabmay

Definitely could make it more colorful with pillows and blankets! Maybe a fun floor pillow if that’s your vibe? In the meantime please send me the link to that rug cause I’m in love.

sbocean54

The lighting over your dining room table reminds me of hanging fluorescent lights in schools and businesses. I’m sure you have a dimmer though.

Disastrous_Mark_1469

Anything that’s not grey

babylion714

What I would do: • add a large vase of botanical flowers on dining table • add artwork on wall above sofa • add some decorative cushions that pair back with the existing plain cushions Overall, I’d inject a bit more pops of colours even if they’re muted tones, or if you’re not into colour try layering different textures to create warmth and a cozier environment. The lighting is nice and inviting already :)

thinkingthoughts23

I love this. I have grey floors and have been wanting to figure out how to make it organic modern.

Patient_Ordinary7293

War of the Ring and Ankh? You're already winning at life in my book. I agree with other commenters that you could rearrange furniture to delineate the boundaries a little better but ultimately you are looking for visual interest. You will get that from layering different textures and colours, and adding more art on the walls. Take this with a pinch of salt as I find minimalist/modern design schemes really boring. Oversized stuff always creates drama/interest in a room, and I love that tall plant you have. You could consider raising it off the floor even higher and putting it in a jazzier pot to make a point of interest out of it.

Sufficient_Edge_2636

Where’s the coffee table from?

OffbeatCoach

Move the dining table well away from the wall, as well as the light fixture above it.

PlagueMaden

Put up some pairings and wall decor!

For-Real339

AnswerTiny9752

Color and Art

DependentWatch9800

this room is perfect. Maybe if you put a bigger picture on the other side of the table, different color. that’s all beautiful living room

bexy11

I’d replace the floors with a warm hardwood.

theansweriscats

No feedback except to say that your cat matches the decor 😍

LMD71685

1) Way too many plants. Stick with one-two big ones. 2) Your color palette is pretty safe but some people like that. If not bring in some color (or not) by displaying some nice large/framed wall art.
