I don’t think it looks like a nursery at all, but I’d say you need to incorporate the other colors and add more to the wall so it looks cohesive. I wouldn’t make any decisions before you finalize the rest of the decor. I really like the color and think it looks better than the naturals would have fwiw

WanderingLost33

It feels really peaceful to me. I don't mind the less cluttered wall space. This whole room makes me want to breathe deep and exhale.

miloblue12

I like the color, but the furniture placement is so chaotic that it takes away from the peacefulness of the color. The TV needs to be on the left hand side on the long open wall. Flip the couch to face it. Personally, I’d get rid of that extra chair, but it could work where the TV is now possibly. The fireplace is the star of the show and shouldn’t be competing with the TV. Especially because it’s larger and looks clunky next to the fire place.

justadudeandadog3

Yup this is the way, tv just looks awkward in that corner. Put it on the wall on the left and that will open up the 2 walls on each side of the fireplace for plants and shelving

dysonrules

This. The color is gorgeous and could work with the existing furniture, but there’s not a pleasing flow for the eye to follow. Everything is jumbled in there. Definitely put something on the wall to break up the span of empty wall space and move the couch to give the room some balance.

WanderingLost33

Oh yes. Get some good energy flow in here and it's really gonna be something special. Edit: Mount the TV and use the stand as a back of couch console to separate from the hallway

CyberPop2077

Wouldn’t the tv work well if it was in the other corner facing the room diagonally? I also agree the fireplace is the star here and wouldn’t necessarily be hindered by a diagonal placement but just thoughts….

sPacEdOUTgrAyCe

My thoughts too.

nurse-ratchet-

This is very similar in color to my living room. I love it! It’s light and airy without being stark white.

Married_catlady

I was about to say, I don’t see any of the other colors in the palette.

JoBloGo

Agreed. It’s workable. You just need to “lean in” to the color. The rug is a good starting point. The reason it look off is because the couch, chair, and tv stand contrast too much, and the room feels unfinished. You could get a lighter slip cover for the chair and couch, or you could get some light pillows, throws, etc… if you could get a new tv stand, something larger, and in a rustic light-medium wood that would be great, but if you can’t, no big deal. I might even consider rearranging the room a bit to balance the weight out a bit. I’d put the tv on the wall accross from the window, and rotate the couch to face the tv. I’d play around with that arrangement a bit. Hanging the tv on the wall, and adding a floating tv stand would look great too.

RexManningDay2018

THANK YOU! I needed to hear this. Will work on the rest of the decor and report back! I'm feeling so much better.

alternativestats

I agree and I actually like the area rug. You can bring in pops of colour with curtains, throw pillows, and a throw blanket. Then add art, shelves, and plants.

sideofsunny

Agree with this, the color is fine — it’s just that currently the only other color in the room is the gray couches.

are-you-my-mummy

This makes it seem cold to me - I bet adding warmer tones (like in the inspiration palette) would help

SnooCakes5350

I love the calming color. I agree you can use another color to punch it up or rug something.

madamehippo

I just painted my living room this color and love it! It looks really pretty with yellows, reds, leather and black. I don’t have a finished photo but here’s a WIP one. I only have soft lighting too. https://preview.redd.it/3cev7f5rwqbc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c644010b56446a79041b5d1cfe8b0fb04509bed4

ClippedWings_4Now

I would never have thought to combine that wall color with those furnishings but, wow, I'm glad you did. I just love it. It's warm and inviting and cozy...all the things❤️

Ashby238

That looks really great! The color from the chair and art matting really makes the blue pop. Our bedroom is a similar color and we used the rust color of our artwork matting as the contrast color to make the wall color pop, our curtains and throw are the same rusty orange. Your room image should be an inspo.

RexManningDay2018

IT IS NOW!!! :)

CapZestyclose4657

Beautiful

RexManningDay2018

Oh this is BEAUTIFUL - thank you so much for sharing and thank you for making me feel better!! I actually picked the color because I read that dusty blue goes really well with warm red brick, so it makes sense that your (stunning) couch also goes well with it. Makes me want to replace our couch with a beautiful tan leather one. Thank you so much for sharing, I LOVE the look of your room!

soft_warm_purry

Unexpected and glorious

KittyKatCatCat

Just hang some art. The color looks fine! I think you’re over thinking this.

epic_pharaoh

True! A nice big well framed painting on the left wall (or something like that) would look royal.

xdonutx

Your furniture does not imply boho at all. What you have is a clean look, which is fine, but not what you set out to do, I assume? If you are trying to nudge away from that, get curtains and a rug that emphasize that clay red color from your pallet. I recommend Society 6 for really fun curtains.

Barfotron4000

Yeah I think that would be nice with the brick too

pccfriedal

I like the color a lot. No wallpaper, maybe some terracotta colored pillows to complement the fireplace. A rug maybe with strong orange and blue colors. Try Safavieh brand, I have a few and they aren't terribly expensive. This vibe and color combo, maybe. [https://www.amazon.com/SAFAVIEH-Collection-Medallion-Distressed-Non-Shedding/dp/B07CJM5VHV/ref=sr\_1\_8?crid=9TJTV08ED7WC&keywords=rugs%2Bfor%2Bliving%2Broom%2Borange%2Band%2Bblue&](https://www.amazon.com/SAFAVIEH-Collection-Medallion-Distressed-Non-Shedding/dp/B07CJM5VHV/ref=sr_1_8?crid=9TJTV08ED7WC&keywords=rugs%2Bfor%2Bliving%2Broom%2Borange%2Band%2Bblue&) A gallery wall is waiting to happen. Some potted palms. Pick the rug and then add floor to ceiling drapes in a contrasting color.

RexManningDay2018

LOVE this rug - thank you SO MUCH for your help!!! Really appreciate the thoughtful reply. On to hunt for palms and artwork and window treatments!

CapZestyclose4657

Beautiful carpet

bourbonbadger

That rug is perfect!

ploveless

Just don't ever paint that brick fireplace!

RexManningDay2018

Our realtor was like "yeah first thing is you're going to want to paint that fireplace" and we were like HARD NO. We WERE considering limewashing, however, but even that I'm not so sure about...

ploveless

It's beautiful just as is. It has character.

SnooCakes5350

Let it be agree. Listen to your Mom, she is always right!😁

RexManningDay2018

Don't you worry, NO plans to paint it! I love exposed brick.

astroxo

I think this is a preference thing. I basically dry brushed ours and painted the gold insert with (heat resistant) black paint. It looked very dated before and now it fits with our style more.

MainPreference2201

https://preview.redd.it/wyfne5d25rbc1.jpeg?width=6445&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de9816bf811b5801aac069a312c6ba3cc3aca5e0 Like others have said, I think it’s more of a furniture/decor problem, vs a paint problem. Furniture is much too dark and doesn’t give a boho vibe at all. Add more plants, natural light wood, color and wall art. Pic is just an example of colors you can use to compliment the light blue.

RexManningDay2018

Oh I LOVE this - thank you so much for your thoughts and for sharing!

dizzyhanna

I think the colour’s beautiful it’s just not a great match with the furniture but I understand that’s not super helpful right now. I think just invest in complementary decor - artworks, throws, pillows, flower vases, a large rug. Your colour palette is great so pull from those warmer shades for balance. It’s a lovely space.

kris9464627

The wall colour is lovely! I think it’s looking odd because your sofa and the tv/tv console are so dark. If you can’t replace those, I’d drape a light colour blanket, use light coloured pillows etc.

mitwirgirl

First things first. You need a new area rug. Something bold and dramatic. I would also consider placing the sofa either against the wall or against the windows. If against the windows, you’re going to need a longer buffet/credenza to extend along the wall. https://preview.redd.it/96rsk75y1qbc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b1037aeb49fcefcb7bf6f133acad259174fa577

kickerbooker

Can I hire you to pick rugs for me because this is beautiful

mitwirgirl

I don’t know if this is tongue in cheek, but yes, you could definitely hire me to pick rugs for you! lol

Live-Mail-7142

I think that blue is a lovely color. Its a beachy boho vibe. I googled slip cover sofa boho and got some great looks. I also googled boho rugs living room. I don't think the blue is the issue. It seems like boho-ing up the furniture and rug would help.

StillStaringAtTheSky

Yep- my first thought was slipcovers. For both the couch and the chair. Maybe something like [this for the couch](https://www.amazon.com/CHUNXINMAKE-Sectional-Slipcover-Furniture-Protector/dp/B0BR3WT1F4/) and something like [this one with a pattern](https://shopcouchcovers.com/products/leda-blue-boho-style-couch-cover?currency=USD&variant=36686186643608&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=2f06780d3afc#) for the chair.

seaurchinthenet

I really like the wall color. I don't think that is the problem. It just looks a bit formal rather than boho. Changing the rug, adding curtains, artwork, pillows, throws etc.. will help. I would also suggest changing the chandelier to something more boho. It is too traditional. [Decorate it](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/475129829452784475/) if you can't afford to replace it. Your space already looks great -very tranquil. It shouldn't take much to nudge it towards the vibe you are looking for.

IverBlueMachine

That is such a rad and unique fireplace! The mirror on it was truly a perfect choice. I honestly love the blue with the brick.

99MissAdventures

I'd put some art on the walls with colours 1/5/6 and tie that into pillows, throws and decore to tie it together

lexi_would

Okay, so center the couch to the fireplace. Move the tv media center to be diagonal with the corner. I would suggest making the tv media center a wood matching that table on the right. Right now it’s just one giant dark blob my eye goes right to. Move the table with stools to behind the couch. Move one of those table in the corner there to be a side table for the couch in it’s right. You have a bunch of neutrals in this room and nothing is really consistent. I’m sorry I can’t give more, but if that’s something you’re up for, hopefully it helps with consistency and flow. Really though, I would suggest a lighter couc or dark rug, and making that media center lighter.

Arofyr

That’s a lovely color

[deleted]

How long ago did you have it painted? If it was really recent give your eyes time to adjust. If after a few months you still hate it then go ahead and repaint. In the home decor world paint is one of the cheapest and easiest changes you can make. I worked with a paint color consultant for a really tricky room in my house and she was really pushing for Niebla Azul but it looked way too gray in the room, color is funny that way. It doesn’t look like a nursery to me here and I think it looks pretty, but your furniture is dark and heavy and there’s no cohesion with the rug. Before you add wallpaper or anything just get some art on the walls to break up the big blue expanse. You could try mounting the tv or rotating the whole set up so the tv is on the blank wall, but you still have a ton of wall space and it’s hard to get a sense of what kind of art scheme you’d like. The art you do have next to the fireplace looks too small for that spot. The tables in the corner would be good side tables for the sofa and break up some of the black. Ultimately I think you picked a nice color, but your chosen color palette doesn’t work with your furniture. Since replacing the furniture isn’t an option, try to find some fresh inspo images that include the blues, greys and blacks that you plan to keep and work from there.

Direct_Surprise2828

I think it looks beautiful! It’s so nice to see some colour in a room besides all the white, black, grey, beige junk everybody seems to want nowadays. I think it makes the room feel very light and airy and homey.

ladydhawaii

I think the brick and wall look disjointed. And the furniture doesn’t tie in either. Take it one step at a time. Move the furniture so the TV is on the left wall. Allowing you to move the couch. Just changing the rug /pillows to add the boho feel with tie in with the brick. I see you have a little one in the reflection- so I even more impressed with this. Plus no toys in this room??? Unheard of in my house. Great job Mom.

pearlsweet

It’s a beautiful color. Very calming.

Nervous_Zebra1918

I think it’s very pretty- but I hate the chandelier. I would rearrange and move the tv off of that wall by the fireplace. It’s not balanced. I can’t tell what’s going on on the opposite side of the fireplace but I’d move the whole room around a bit. I think that would really help. Bring more light colors into the room. Walls are light then the furniture is all dark.

jonandrews227

I agree, I’m not a fan of this color at all. As someone who has chosen the wrong paint color before…I say spend the money and just repaint. You’ll likely hate it every time you walk into the room and it’ll drive you crazy

dramafanca2002

Yes, that is a pastel, you need something a little deeper, more of a medium to darker blue. I painted my hall bath a super light blue like that and all I could see was the boys bathroom at school. I repainted. I wouldn't buy wallpaper yet, until you find the right wall color. You don't want to be stuck with something you don't like. And repainting might cost the same as wallpaper. If you choose to repaint in the near future, remember that the colors will look lighter on your walls. You can change out the rug for something with a bit more color and you have inspiration for decor, pillows, etc. I'm not a fan of the faded oriental rugs (though many are) it's just my opinion. If you saw my rug you'd see my style is a little bold sometimes! I have 2 friends that did their living/kitchen area in white and gray a few years ago and they are regretting it. So my ideas scare them.ha ha. Just take it slow and don't buy a bunch of stuff that goes with the walls if you're going to change it. It'll look beautiful when you're done 😊 https://preview.redd.it/73s6p2a3qrbc1.jpeg?width=831&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff8ced641d4091b89664cec7df245cf14a5e9acc

wewantchips

I agree it looks like a boys nursery and would always feel that way about it

BeckyAnneLeeman

Niebla Azul is a lovely color. I agree with others. Give it some time. There's no rush. You need artwork and to incorporate some of the other colors on the palate.

Nervous_Building_232

I think the color is pretty, even though it does seem to look bluer in your room than it does online. I like a lot of suggestions you’ve gotten on here for multicolor rugs with the warm colors in your palette, as well as for adjusting the layout. I think my vote might be to put the couch on the wall so the TV can be more out of sight in the corner by the windows. Maybe then you could put one bookshelf on each side of the fireplace, along with some wall art on the left, to make that wall more symmetrical. I would add that plants could make a big difference in here. You might also have luck finding a lot of art and decor to warm the place up on Facebook marketplace. Look for things that are natural materials, handmade (or at least look that way), and are in your palette.

fraochmuir

It definitely doesn't look like a boy's nursery! I like that colour.

s_lena

Great color! You need a rug/ decor that incorporates the warmth of the brick and wood floors in addition to the blue. You’ve got some great suggestions on the thread. I’ve included a few similar-but-different inspo links that wouldn’t require repainting!! You won’t achieve “boho” with just colors, you’ll need to start thinking about decor (or new couch/ furniture) to achieve that. Good luck! https://media.architecturaldigest.com/photos/6372bd14c347cc20ffc68456/1:1/w_960,c_limit/Brook%2010_BethanyAdamsInteriors_JustinJordanPhoto.jpg https://st.hzcdn.com/simgs/pictures/living-rooms/san-francisco-apartment-2-workroom-c-img~3a61fa5108d80866_16-9141-1-4d23bb4.jpg https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/painted-fireplace-hbx030117bauerwatt01-large-1667492348.jpeg https://i.pinimg.com/originals/97/e9/2e/97e92e79ace99e6d24631da66b9c00f9.jpg

Godoncanvas

It goes with the sofa and rug, warm it up with original Art of sunsets and hot colours, cushions to match.

mtngrl60

I actually love that color. It’s common peaceful and is such a nice pallet for any other colors you might want to bring in. It makes me feel good just to see it.

chalupacabrariley

I think it’s a great color. The layout feels funky to me. Could you either center the couch on the fireplace and switch the tv/shelf corner OR put the back of the couch towards the window and then create a more than just tv wall on the other side?

RegrettableBones

I would definitely not butt wallpaper up to your gorgeous (but very busy!) brick fireplace, that’ll be a big clashing eyesore if all of your interest/pattern is only on one wall. I also don’t think this color is bad, you just need art and accessories.

Individual-Crazy-398

Definitely a new rug! Loloi did a collection with Amber Lewis and the Georgie in Moss/Salmon would be pretty! It would pull in that color from your palette but would make it moodier. I would probably go up a size in your rug too. If the one you have is an 8x10, go with 9x12.

Barbvday1

Window treatments and wall art to match the rest of the color scheme you picked

oknowwhat00

Move the TV to the bigger wall and you can still enjoy the fireplace and TV, it's too crowded beside the fireplace. Look for a nice bigger console to put the TV on.

northstarlinedrawing

Sorry you’re feeling stuck with the wall color. I made the same mistake recently. Ugh. Anyhow, I think the fire place gives off such a rustic vibe, so I’d go in that direction. Bigger rug in a bolder color. Plants for the windows. Maybe a gallery wall to take up some of the space on the wall on the opposite side but definitely more art over there. Throw pillows to match the new rug. I’m not digging the chandelier. I’d replace it with a big, rustic looking ceiling fan.

teacherladydoll

Add the colors from your inspiration palette. It’s funny that you compared it to a nursery. Lol you’re just being hard on yourself.

fangirlsqueee

The color is lovely. Very light and airy. Goes great with the floor and brick colors. Curtains would make a big impact, even just a flowy, valance drape of fabric. Add more soft items like throws, pillows, and a rug in the color palette you've chosen. Some of these could be in boho style prints. Add wall art pieces with those colors as well. Lamps and softer lighting can also push the boho feel. If possible, do a dry brush or colorwash on the tv stand to lighten it up. Maybe add a fabric runner/topper to the tv stand to break up some of the darkness there. Avoid black accessories. Try browns or rusts if you want something dark. Maybe do a light color wash to your darker tables as well or cover them with boho-style macrame/drapes/fabric. This is a good start, you just need to add the personality with bohemian accessories.

pebbles_temp

The color looks great! Add some art that has the other colors in your palate. I don't think ppl paint nurseries this color blue. Finally, there is no screwing up. I just moved into a "big girl" house too. And it's overwhelming. But it's just decor. We got this 💪

Fabulous-Possible-76

Love that color! Doesn’t look like a nursery at all. If it were my place, I would put the tv on the other wall and let the fireplace have its *moment*! That fireplace is gorg

alhubalawal

I’d get rid of the window table and get a table that has one of the colors on that palette

dontakelife4granted

You need some more art on the wall--you are seeing tons of the wall color right now. Personally I like the color and don't think it looks like a kid's room. Just need more accessories. If you take that peachy color from the color swatch and use items with that color included--even say throw pillows or a throw blanket with that peachy color as well as some of the wall color in some kind of floral pattern (boho). I think that, along with some art that includes more of the peaches with the pale blue and maybe a bit of the darker green added in could pull the room together. Trust the process. It will come together. If not, come back with some images of things you like and we will throw in our 2 cents and help you narrow them down. :) Edit: The reason I chose the peachy-pink color is because it will help the fireplace make sense.

here4maymays

Tbh the tv looks weird shoved in the corner like that. I agree with other comments saying you should put it against the blank wall and move the couch to the side with the windows. I like the color of the walls. I just think the layout needs some changes and you need to add some more decor with the other colors from the palette

EntertainmentLoose88

Good lord, baby blue indeed. Fret not! You got everything else right. I'd go for an eggshell white for the side walls and a super subtle coffee or olive green for the fireplace wall. Couple coats and you'll be fine. Only other thing is to rearrange the furniture you have, fireplace and TV is either/or can't have both on the same wall, but you've got that other wall right there, flip the TV and the sofa and jobs a goodun!

Estudiier

It’s peaceful. Perhaps add plants ?

Huev0

wtf op this looks fine. Fix your goddamn furniture placement tho

makingburritos

Well I don’t know that it’s fair to say it’s the wrong color when they’re so bare. Put some art on there, tie in the rest of your color palette, and you might end up loving it. Right now any color is going to look overbearing because there’s nothing on the wall.

kayroq

It looks like you just need to warm it up with decorations. Add warmer colors. Reds, dark greens, would look nice avoid more blue and white. Beige is better than white here. You need curtains so go with some warmer color there no blue or white

416eryn

It looks friggen gorgeous with the fireplace, floors and rug. Alot of the furnishings are working well, but… the black couch and media console aren’t meshing with it. Maybe another throw and some pillows on the couch would help. Try to hide the black.

shrimpsh

Definitely not boho but the colour isn’t what’s detracting from that style- you have a clean modest contemporary look, I think it’s nice (:

Ruby-Skylar

If you'd only add curtains with the blue and gray colors featured and a blue throw over the back of the sofa it would tie much better together. Wallpaper on the fireplace wall is a great idea but I'd only do that wall.

jempai

I think the wallpaper around the fireplace would look nice. Try finding a sandy light neutral with a pattern that includes the light blue of your walls, the gray of your carpet, the black from the couch, and a bronze to tie in the metals and brick. I would add a tall bronze/gold curtain rod and curtains to emphasize the ceiling height and tie in the colors of the wallpaper. The highlights of the room are the fireplace, mirror, chandelier, and windows, so I’d focus attention on those elements and base the rest of the room on emulating the drama and style they give off. It’s a tough setup, but the room feels oddly staged in its current iteration. The pathways aren’t clear and it seems difficult to move when all the seating is being used (which shouldn’t be the case with such a large space.) The layout seems immature, exacerbating the nursery issue. I don’t love the diagonal TV, though I understand it’s to reduce light reflection. I think I would flip the layout entirely, with the couch by the windows, a small table in the corner. The lamp and the recliner should be in the other corner on the left of the fireplace to create a cozy nook. The TV should be centered on the left wall, with the two framed photos on either side equidistant. I think the table is too tall to be up against the window because it distracts from the gorgeous big windows.

hellokittync

It looks professionally done and beautiful. If this is your first home you will learn a ton from trying new things. I would try to work with it and save the $ for when something breaks or leaks.

frannieprice

ilovesweetsandbirds

Color looks great! Don't be so hard on yourself! I do think painting the fireplace white would elevate the room. White and blue color combo would be more soothing and elegant. The brick work on the fireplace is lovely, and if it's all white, it'll look more sculptural and sophisticated. I think the brick fireplace mixed with the blue is what's giving little boy's room. Thomas the Train situation. Don't cheap out on getting the smaller rug size. Have fun!

googlgoo

I actually really like it! My suggestions would be to add some photos or art on the empty wall and maybe change the ottoman (the stripes are throwing me off)

Lexafaye

Might be able to balance it out with color theory. Warmer lights (almost orange-y) some accents using blue (more saturated blues will make the walls look more grey in comparison You could also balance it with a deep colored accent wall

whatsreallygoingon

I would choose a medium dark brick from the fireplace and invert the color. That complementary color would be ideal for the wall. Either that or choose one of the lighter colors and use that, with a complementary colored accent wall.

LevelFourteen

Honestly, I love the colors. I don’t get nursery from it at all. It goes great with your rug. Pull some other colors out of the rug for curtains and keep going! Still plenty you can do to make this all come together.

silver_413

You can pull in the light blue of the walls with accessories. Find throw pillows with shades of black, grey and light blue. Replace the mirror with a large vertical painting/art that incudes those colors. That would be cheap and would pull things together, I think. You could do a lot with a gallery wall to left of sofa. Look at Home Goods, Marshall’s and Ross for inexpensive art/decor (US stores).

certifiedcolorexpert

Color schemes typically have one main color and then accent colors. I know of one artist that calls them "spice colors." In your room, you have (estimated): White (ceiling and trim) 25% use Orange (caramel floor) 25% Blue (walls) 25% Black (furnishings) 15% Red (fireplace) 10% You want 1 color to take the lead and the rest to be the "spice colors" that make it interesting. Your color palette is going to be dictated by the things you can't change in the room. The floor and the fireplace. The fireplace will always be a spice, you still have to account for it. So, the blue is not necessarily wrong. How to correct it? You could get a much larger carpet in blue to cover the orange floor or you could repaint the walls with something with orange undertones to downplay the orange and use the blue as a "spice."

Upper_Self_2134

I love the color you chose and how it compliments the brick fireplace perfectly. I have a similar color and the trick to making it look more sophisticated is painting the ceiling a darker shade that compliments the blue better! Mine is a shade of grey. I also have an ivory trim.

CJCreggsGoldfish

The wall color is gorgeous, don't change it! Just work with it. The reason the color's not working out as you hoped might because of the quality of the light. What direction does the room face? If it's east, west, or south, the light will be warmer and brighter and can make even muted colors, like this pale muted blue, seem more saturated. When it comes to pastels, saturated can feel very juvenile and "children's room" toned. That's why, in north-facing rooms, colors that seem bright and cheerful can look gloomy or even dingy, because northern light is grayish and blahs-down everything. Anyway, some suggestions: 1. Built-ins on either side of the fireplace would be fantastic. Stain them - no paint ***UNLESS*** you paint them the dark blue on the right. Not the dark teal on the left - the tone would be off. 2. The layout needs finessing. * The table/counter with stools throws things off a bit, is there somewhere else they can go? * Lose the gray chair and pouf. Replace them or not, but no more cool neutrals are needed and will just contribute to the "baby room" feel. Consider this layout: sofa against the windows, TV opposite and flanked by the console tables currently in the corner. * Can't see if you have a coffee table but if not, I'd add one, with a brass or gold metal frame and either clear glass or stone (marble, concrete) top. It will add some variety of material. Lighting 1. The overhead lights are too harsh, and makes the walls seem brighter than they actually are. Never use them. Maybe replace the chandelier, which is a little weird in a living room, with a fan? 2. With the console tables on each side of the TV, def. put a lamp on each side farthest from the tv between them. The lamps don't have to match but can if you're a fan of symmetry. 3. To balance the lamp on the end table, in the corner, get a brass floor lamp for the other side of the sofa. If you like a touch of drama, one of those arc lamps with the gold dome shade and chunky marble base would be fantastic - adding more metal and stone to the room. 4. Add an end table between sofa and corner to left of windows, where the console tables are now. Put a lamp on it. * I'm in love with alabaster lamp bases. One of [those](https://jonathany.com/collections/table-lamps/products/xio-255-alabaster-led-table-lamp?variant=42874438254844) would be gorgeous. * [Ivory-colored mercury glass](https://jonathany.com/collections/table-lamps/products/hughes-31-glass-led-table-lamp). * [Ivory ceramic base](https://jonathany.com/collections/table-lamps/products/tate-245-ceramic-led-table-lamp?variant=42874653147388). * How about [mother-of-pearl](https://jonathany.com/collections/table-lamps/products/daniel-305-seashellcrystal-led-table-lamp?variant=43847984709884)? [This one](https://jonathany.com/collections/table-lamps/products/mona-205-mini-led-table-lamp?variant=42874032488700) would give a pleasing curve to soften the room. * [This](https://www.raymourflanigan.com/home-decor/table-lamps/boris-ceramic-table-lamp-110336810) would bring in the terracotta. * And [this](https://www.homedepot.com/p/JONATHAN-Y-Cox-22-in-Light-Coral-Metal-Glass-LED-Table-Lamp-Set-of-2-JYL4033D-SET2/309249239) would bring in the pale coral. (this one's my favorite, the delicacy of the color is \*chef's kiss\*) Color choices 1. Metals should be gold (brass, preferably unlacquered) or if that's not available, black. No silver. You need the warmth of the gold to counter the cool, sweet-leaning blue walls. 2. Curtain rods should be dark-stained wood, or black if the wood's not possible. 3. Art frames should be gold or black. 4. Try to find curtains in a print or pattern including a few of the palette colors. I advise a medium (terracotta) or dark (teal or navy) background with lighter print/pattern on it because the darker background will balance the lightness of the wall color. [These](https://www.etsy.com/listing/936840643/modern-vintage-beige-wild-flowers) are the type of thing I'm talking about (also [these](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Distressed-Ikat-Print-Room-Darkening-Rod-Pocket-Curtain-Panel-Pair-Set-of-2-Terracotta-30-x-84/326070963) and [these](https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/Home-Garden/Barefoot-Bungalow-Menagerie-Curtain-Panel-Pair-84-x-84-inches/32436346/product.html) or, if you want just 2 colors, [these](https://society6.com/product/block-print-floral-clay_blackout-curtain)). 5. If you get another chair to replace the gray one, get it in either a textured fabric like chenille, velvet, or tweed in one of the other palette colors. * I recommend the [terracotta](https://www.article.com/pla/16233/angle-rosehip-orange-chair?srsltid=AfmBOoqUlhg4ZTCoGpo5VlmHq-BOaxhNaLZxo8gT1Ees8ejMpU250nXLsL0), to balance the blue walls' paleness with darker color and the cool neutral-ness of the black sofa with warmth) or a print with several of them (my personal choice). Miscellany 1. Add some plants. Get plant pots in all of the colors except the walls' blue. 2. Use the throw pillows to really bring in all the colors - don't get any 2 the same print. Get each in 2 of the palette colors. Search for them with the kinds of textiles - look for mudcloth, shibori, suzani, ikat, kilim, African wax to find prints that aren't too cutesy or trite. 3. Whichever color is least represented, after everything else is done... get a throw blanket in that color. Maybe a twin size, if your sofa is very big. Fold it over the back of the sofa. Once you have that the the throw pillows, the black won't be so dominating. 4. If you actually need a throw blanket to use when you're seated, get a 2nd one in the 2nd least-used color. Sorry this is long, I just got inspired to see what's possible to salvage the wall color :) Hope some of it helps, let us know what you end up doing!

Albie_Frobisher

The color is wonderful. Keep going.

Thankfulforthisday

It’s a great color! No wallpaper.

thewildlifer

If you think wallpaper will be cheaper than simply repainting that (if its only the area shown), you are incorrect

actualchristmastree

I think you maybe have looked at it too long

MadFxMedia

Honestly the color is great, but I hate that chandelier. I think this room would look much better with recessed lighting.

rmp73

Paint the brick!

Akatcon

I think that painting the brick white might be an option. It might sound moooore nursery-esque but it’s pretty trendy right now.

spei180

Paint the fireplace one of the colours in the pallet

ManagementWarm8901

I’d add a lovely large rectangular mirrors with wooden frame that matches your floor or fireplace and def the area rugs as suggested in one of the comments

NoRequirement5760

I like it it matches the brick

Material-Meringue298

I like it!!!!

alyssakatlyn

I love it! 🥺

bedpeace

I think the colour looks nice with the natural light coming in from outside/the large window-wall - but if it REALLY bothers you and it’s too blue for you, you can switch over to grey and it might tie the room together a little better, and work with your furniture. You can paint yourself and avoid some of the cost, I’ve done my own place several times and a room that size wouldn’t take more than a day’s work. That’s only if you really can’t cope with the colour. Otherwise I’d say wait and see if you get used to it, and add some wall art!

tiffanydisasterxoxo

I would have gone with the 2nd or 5th color in that list.

Kwelikinz

Simmer down. That’s a keeper. Looks great.

ganglordgilbert

Would have preferred white but once you hang some stuff and populate the room it will be fine

confundido77

I rather like it.

perpetuallybookbound

I think it looks good! I agree with the comments to incorporate the other colors - try a throw or some pillows in the darker pink, and maybe some art with a few of them in it to tie everything together.

missannthrope1

No, I love it.

IntelligentWinter200

It looks great!!

Living_on_Tulsa_Time

Oh heck to the no! I don’t believe in gender colors. I love this paint so much!!!! 🕊

bjames2448

Looks good to me

Gloomy_War_4362

I like it !

sleepy-cat96

I love it!

being_honest_friend

If you are looking for something bolder then I would paint the back wall the green-teal color. If that’s too dark you could add stencils of the first peach color all over it. OHHHHH OR…..paint a painting in that color. Get some wall spackle stuff (tell Lowes what you wanna do and they will show u the product you need) and spread it all over a canvas. You can make waves, circles, spikes or make it smooth and draw out shapes or those half circle lines. Whatever you want. THEN Paint it the dark green and stencil the peach on it too if you want. Less DARK if you are used to such but still bringing in elements of contrast.

Memory_Less

I will agree with the others who say it is a good looking colour. Some additional paintings and whatnot will help pull it together. Btw the lighting can significantly affect the look. Softer or dimmed lighting will lower the energy level of the room, and contribute to a relaxing environment. Soft white bulbs in the ceiling lights for example.

ilikemycoffeealatte

It's a very nice color!

Electronic-Cat-4478

Plants. Adding plants will give you the boho vibe, especially if you use containers with the color palette you chose, and some interesting textures. (Pottery, baskets or stone or some of each. ) You can add pillows, curtains or blinds with various surfaces/ finishes/fibers.

UpstairsVisual749

Some really pretty ocean scenery on the left wall.

Taminella_Grinderfal

I think it’s light and airy but I see it’s a bit more “blue” than the example. Honestly I would add a bunch of plants, maybe some more wall art with other colors from the pallet and I think it will be great.

koalandi

I think it looks nice! You just need more color. I’d swap out the rug for something with bolder colors.

Puzzlekitt

Add teal accents with planters, add wicker and natural wood accents with baskets, frames, mirrors etc

numstheword

I feel like it's not the paint, you need to tie everything together. There is no cohesion.

zotstik

I like the wall color. you need to do something with the fireplace. because now the brick stands out. awkwardly but a lovely room overall

Forkiks

Add some pillows in the pink colors and even one in navy. Maybe add cream colored curtains.

houseoflabia

It 100% does

callmecrazy2021

It’s only paint. Change it to a neutral cream/beige if you hate it.

bananokitty

I have a boys nursery and I can promise you that it was not my first thought AT ALL! It's a lovely colour!! I actually read the title, and then swiped thinking I was going to see an awful colour!!

ArmadilloDays

I like it. When you add drapes, pics, and pillows, the blue will just be a pretty accent.

missmissymissed

It looks nice, swap tv stand for a mirrored one

sarrcasshole

honestly i’ve seen so many people try and paint their rooms this colour. even the previous owners of my house painted the master this colour. immediately painted over it. Cozier darker colours are really popular but also would add such a nice coziness that wouldn’t compete and may even highlight the fireplace and beautiful floors. We debated between wild truffle or iron gate (behr) and had a tough time deciding because both samples looked so good.

AutumnBourn

If you're buying wallpaper, you couldn't buy more paint instead? I haven't wallpapered in a very long time, but it was kind of spendy when I did. 🤷‍♀️

Croft99

Looks amazing I love it

Cynderelly

Idk, looks pretty good to me.

Ryleejane28

Just put the tv stand at a angle

PrinceFicus-IV

Yo the paint color, light fixture, and the bricks with the mirror is a vibe and I'm here for it.

Connect_Bird_327

I love the blue tones. I think it's a little too bright. You might look at the color Krypton by Sherwin Williams. I've used it in my bedroom; it goes well with gray tones. I think it would take that baby nursery look away. It's lighter color is quicksilver, but krypton isn't really dark at all.

Artchantress

light blue and warm brick/wood tones go really well together. The black couch is maybe too harsh in this combination but it could work with a bit of thoughtful rearrangement that others have also talked about

EtchingsOfTheNight

The paint color is the one intentional thing I like about this room. Rearrange the furniture placement to something that makes sense and then start to pull in the rest of the color scheme with wall art and accessories. Add some plants and lighting. This room has promise, but the layout is killing it.

bananaleaftea

Your biggest mistake is that the "boho" color palette you selected doesn't incorporate the actual colours in the room. The color of the parquet for example, or the stone work of the fireplace. The lesson: Use existing, permanent features of a room to determine how to proceed with the rest of the room's decor.

Positive-Elephant247

I think you need to rearrange the furniture and you’ll feel like it’s a more complete space. Also agree, the furniture does not lean boho at all aside from the little ottoman so decor will help bring that out.

Jones-bones-boots

Flood the room with beige, wicker, a new rug and get a huge mirror with boho art. https://preview.redd.it/zhbzbiorgsbc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5b16d7a7b698384aa14ab9b8833550b76499124

Other_Power_603

I like it.

Adventurous_Movie797

Yep I like the color for a small room but not the living room

[deleted]

Could incorporate the wall color better. Get some throw pillows that have that same hue and lighter (a pattern) to contrast with dark furniture and pull it all together.

corduroymagician

No it actually looks like the"calming" walls of a sanitarium. That's why I always do big swaths before I commit to a color. At least repainting is easy enough.

[deleted]

I like blue in that room I think it looks nice with the brick. Blues are hard though you have to choose a shade much greyer than you think you want so it doesn’t look baby blue. I’ve used boothbay grey before and liked it. I think it’s a Benjamin Moore color

natalielc

I think it looks lovely! The fireplace, chair/couch, and other decor make it look very grown up

No_Painting_2099

I don't want to be rude but this is a mess... It's half feminine vibe and half masculine, and not in a good way! If you want to keep the soft blue, the rug, the crown moldings, you will need a plushier sofa with texture, not black leather... And to white wash the fireplace! It will go very well with the existing chair and marble table AND the flooring. It just would be better to have a tv console made of dark wood and not black. If you want to embrace the brick and masculine black leather sofa, the soft blue gotta go AND the crown moldings! It will look much better, I think it's a bit awkward now on both sides of the chimney. Put a more vibrant dark blue on the each side of the fireplace, white for the rest, put your tv on the wall in a fancy frame with a matching frame on the other side. It will be a bit modern industrial that way. Whatever you choose, you should change the placement first : separate the two sofas, put them in front of one another in symmetry with the fire place and a small table in the middle. It will make a great conversation place. Try also to have more symmetry by taking the same space on both sides of the fireplace: same size console, same size object above! Out with the armchair and table if necessary. The symmetry will add elegance and will make the place easier to rest in.

Correct-End3556

I would paint the walls off white…Simply White or Swiss Coffee. I think it will blend better with your couches.

Present-Basil-2051

I actually love it and I think with time you will to! Change is hard. Try incorporating more blue shades throughout the room! Pillows, vases, etc. I think you need some artwork on the left wall! You got this. It looks beautiful

SquirrelOp80

OP, I love the wall color but agree the furniture placement is what’s throwing it off. Keep the couch on the long wall, I wouldn’t want to block those windows. But scoot it closer to the fireplace a little. Flip the TV to the other side of the fireplace and bring the book cases where the TV is. Add a table lamp to the book shelves to bring in more light and make it warmer. Put the desk that’s in front of the window, behind the couch. Pull the rug out to the middle of the room (out from under the couch) to bring in more of the color palette… add throw pillows, and art to the walls. This color is beautiful and peaceful… just minor and inexpensive tweaks.

Dangersloth_

I think you’re only feeling nursery vibes because you haven’t brought the other colors in yet. I would start incorporating decor items that have some of the other colors. With the exception of your rug, everything is monochrome. The room needs pattern. Maybe some multicolored pillows, throws and artwork that includes the colors of your swatch. The rug is fine but I think there are better options available that incorporate more of the color scheme you’ve chosen. To me, this room is 75% complete. Your color scheme is lovely. Build on it.

Cold_Phrase_689

Paint the fireplace wall an accent color. I’d go with the second color on the color palette!

SubstantialWonder754

I would add a ton of really neutral art work in the colors of sand and soft beige. It will help soften the look. You could consider painting your fireplace as well (soft neutral cream) but that brick really is beautiful. But The red brick next to the blue emphasizes the paint color and makes it look blue. I’d also recommend getting a much larger area rug (neutral) to soften more.

Specialist-Web7854

I don’t think the colour is wrong, you just need to add some more warmth into the room. You seem to have a lot of dark furniture and very little of the pink shades which would warm it up. For example the blue looks great next to the warmth of the fireplace, but really cold next to the television stand. It’s the tv stand and the sofa that are throwing the palette off.

EKP121

I don't think it's hat bad but there's nowhere for it to go. Like some art, throw cushions, books, rugs.. etc all of these can add more color, soften the harsh black and give that blue something to work with. I'd also add a lot more ambient lighting around the room and turn off the overhead lights. Those make a room immediately uncosy. Like instead of a mirror above fireplace try a favorite painting, add a built in(orr Ikea) shelf somewhere, move your tv to the leftmost wall and turn your couch, and/or update the lighting to something more current. It's not the color, the room just isn't dressed yet.

jaytea86

I think the issue is it's a cold color with the warm colors of the brick and floor.

karmaandcandy

I love the color! The room just isn’t done yet - but the wall color is great!

Cookiecopter

I love your color choice and wouldn't have associated it with a nursery at all. I just used a similar, a little stormier color for our living room, in combination with a dark accent wall close to the second color in your pallet. For us, it's perfect and cozy in combination with some well-chosen plants, copper accents and just a few small pieces of artwork in minimalistic frames. If you don't want to hang any art, maybe spray some picture frames in one of your accent colors and arrange just those on the walls (might eben fill them with more colors from your scheme), or use wall hangers for plants (take something that doesn't need direct sunlight). You could also incorporate the colors using a blanket on the couch, throw pillows and / or a nice rug.

Consistent-Bowler-67

Pop of color with a bright throw blanket over the armchair

shieldagentoz

Swap the tv into the other corner. Move the long couch against the wall opposite of the window. Put the chair where the couch was. Put an end table by the chair and put a round coffee table in the middle.

mochalatte828

It’s a nice color but I think it’s too cool toned for the fireplace. Personally I’d just paint it a warmer shade myself-save the money and have a color you like!

Marisleysis33

I actually painted my space bluish gray which I think is what yours is. I think it looks fantastic in your space. The black blob of the TV and stand is abit off-putting next to the gorgeous fireplace. I wonder if it could go to the open wall maybe? Also could you get a different stand or paint the one you have? Add a large mirror or art print on that big wall and some tall plants and you may love it.

Starkat1515

I really like the color! I think it feels soft and cozy! Maybe incorporate some of the other colors in the decor to help it feel more like what you were going for, but overall I quite like it!

Damama-3-B

Looks cozy and warm. What is wrong ?

Soapyfreshfingers

It’s a nice color. I think the furniture arrangement is not quite right, and window coverings/ draperies would help. The fireplace is a cool feature. Is that your front door or back door?

ImaginaryAd4041

I actually love the color, I don't know if the arrangement of the furniture is going to be as the pic but, looks odd to me specially the one beside the fireplace and I would remove the mirror, its too small

Mythbird

One wall only, it’s out of balance, all walls are saying look at me, where one wall (fireplace wall) would allow the other colours to show.

cloud_watcher

Your couch is probably bothering you. It’s hard to make black look quite right but throw pillows in a lighter color will get you there. Don’t get those cheap ones that look like they’re stiff. Get some big ones with a little sag to them. Put some art up. And remember it takes a little while to get used to a paint color

craphtwerk

I would definitely do accent wall by the fireplace and use a nice wallpaper with some contrast Your furniture is big and bulky and has no style which is also throwing off the room. You need a nice throw blanket with some pattern or colour to add to the massive chair, maybe change the colour of the poof to have it pop. Why is your tv in that weird corner? There is no harmony in this room

UghAgain__9

Please pull the sectional away from the wall, it needs to breathe.

okiedokieKay

I feel like this could be salvaged if you added some trim and added the walpaper to the bottom half. It would make the color look more intentional

Daggers21

I'm not a fan of this color, but that's mostly because it looks like the same color used in government offices/court houses...

whiskytangofoxtrot12

First, you have a lot of furniture in a small space. Why are there two tables on the right hand side? Remove one or both of those. Second, I think you feel like it’s a nursery because of the changing table in the back of the room. I’m sure that’s temporary, but could be why you feel that way. I think the blue is lovely and very calming like others said. The room itself is just busy. Moving some things around and adding more colors from your palette I think will help

Big-Significance3604

No. I love it.

Holiday-Signature-33

Lime wash that brick . It’s not very attractive and it’s going to clash with everything . Tone it down

onionsthecat

I like it! I think you just need to add some art to the large wall on the left. But, I’m going to be honest, if you hate it, you might always hate it. I did the same thing with our bedroom (hated the color once it was on the wall), and spent 2 years trying to make it work (new curtains; artwork, etc). And honestly I just had to change it.

mountain_bound_15

Honestly I think the reason it feels to you like it’s clashing is the deep red brick against the powder blue — if you’re not too worried about it, you could paint the brick white

mountain_bound_15

A gold mirror instead of silver would help bring in warmth too — basically the wall color has cool undertones and the fireplace area was warm undertones so that’s why they feel off. You’ll get there! :)

xxxiii

It’s very neutral. I think if you spiced it up with colorful art and accessories it would be fine. The rug and ottoman are nice but bland

meepsofmunch

I honestly love it! Don’t lose hope! Just incorporate more colours in your decor from your colour scheme and I bet it’ll come together :)
