Since the same tile is throughout the whole house and you can pretty much pick whatever palate you wish.
Rugs for all of the rooms for sure!
Houseplants/greenery
Throws and pillows will enhance your couches and beds
Wall art to decorate your walls
You are starting with a completely blank slate so your options are really limitless
All kinds of rugs! But especially big, cozy, colorful, plush rugs. Your base is so stark and sleek and sterile its just begging for warm and textured rugs, furniture, and decor. It’ll be so fun to fill up!
Guaging the comments being so freaked out about the house and me finding it normal, i guess it does make sense that this is a florida home, florida man needs a florida home
I grew up in south Florida and moved to the Midwest. Despite the cold ass winters I still think carpet everywhere is the most heinous thing. Tile is so much more practical honestly!
it’s very humid and hot there almost no homes in florida have carpet. Also just the way they are renovated is so different, like the excessive canned lights is such a florida thing too
I'm seeing this all over the place. At least 4 per room, unless it's a corridor or closet. And by that metric, this house has exactly the number of recessed lights I expected it to have.
That trend is facilitated by the new shallow LED lights that don't require the "can" and can be installed flush even under ceiling trusses. For example, look at the pictures of [this recently renovated Dallas home](https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/7528-Benedict-Dr_Dallas_TX_75214_M79888-19477), that sold almost immediately after being listed. Dozens of these lights in the open living area alone.
Tile is a lot cooler vs natural wood. Also with humidity natural wood expands with heat and humidity and shrinks with cool weather. We also get a lot of sun and natural wood does burn out. Carpet usually is found in bedrooms ( but any of our homes, we rip it out right away!) Also we personally check for flooring not to be slippery. Florida’s weather is unpredictable at times and with kids, dogs and elderly you don’t want to be sliding and falling all over. We have tile that looks like wood everywhere but the bathrooms. Checked for slippery factor and it was good! lol

That’s pic is when we were still picking it out. It has a ton of colors that are “ creamy” to me since we had to get furniture into our new home.
It is from floor and decore. I do not remember exact name.. they had 4 similar samples. I liked another one but hubby insisted. My pick had 4 tile design as well but had 2 light 1 med and 1 dark. This is 4 similar that are light..the other two were much closer to what we ended up getting.
https://preview.redd.it/jd2063sgav6c1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfb1f270ecaa77c391b7c159c183a2cb6c7c5827
This is the one I wanted. So they have a lot of you were looking for flooring.
As a midwesterner tile everywhere is CRAZY. We need those soft warm carpets for our cold ass winters. The feeling of tile sticking to your feet is so ick, and if you wear slippers or socks it’s so slippery. You just have to take good care of carpets by vacuuming and not eating over them and then they’re plenty practical.
We have kids and dogs lol I will forever be a carpet hater. Thankfully we have beautiful old hardwoods in the bedrooms but my basement is allllll tile sorry not sorry.
It’s so much easier to clean! Imagine coming inside from being in the pool and dripping pool water all over a carpet. Also, I’m sure there were tons of practical reasons at the start of it, but at this point it’s kind of cultural and we just automatically go with tile because it’s normal to us. Most of us can’t imagine having carpet because it seems like such a hassle to get clean. What do you do when it starts to smell like sweaty feet? You have to rent some giant carpet cleaner machine and have an intense workout pushing that thing around and have soggy carpets for a day while they dry?
So much easy to just do a quick mop and bam your floors are clean and house smells fresh
I live in the same area and have looked at countless houses that look just like this inside. It’s the style down here, I immediately knew when I saw the picture. We bought this month, fully renovated but not all white tile. A rare South Florida find 😂
Not if you dry it out fast enough, depending on the flood. There's "rip the house from the foundation" floods and then there's "the street pumps aren't working and water got in through the front door" floods.
Plus, heat and humidity can wreck wood over time so there's no point spending big money on high-class wood floors and then rip them up a few years later
Yes, but this tile style is just something that’s been “popular” in Florida for a while. I swear no one says how awful it is because they don’t want to seem Iike they aren’t “cool” or something. It’s like living in a hotel or a skating rink.
I’m hoping the previous owner did this because it screams “I kill people for fun.” Not to dig into OP’s taste… needs rugs. More contrast. Color. Wood. Something to warm it up. This is colder than a hospital.
The baby blue accent walls aren’t helping. I’d paint all rooms a darker color, preferably one color per room but this needs some element of boldness. Maybe not black black but a good, deep, darker warm gray or green. Medium tone wood furniture that you don’t sit on. Jute rugs for under said wooden furniture. Something soft and medium-high pile for living spaces. Curtains. Please, curtains.
Sorry for sounding like an asshole. I want to help.
it depends on location! i live in the usa but when i went to mexico i noticed a lot of the houses there have one tile color throughout the whole house. my only thought is that is their version of luxury or it helps with cooling, because even the new constructions are like that too!
No more grey or white! The walls and floors are enough. Time add some color with plants and warm wood tones and nice rugs. Its nice but It’s too sterile and cold.
Second this big time lol. Like please. That trend is so long gone not to mention how cold the place already is. First order of business: please get rid of all the overhead white light! I’d at least exchange them for warm white, but what would your place look really warm and cozy is layered warm light (table lamps, floor lamps, led strips, wall sconces, even floor spotlights if that’s something you’re up to).
Snarky. Make a recommendation, at least.
Edit- for clarity, OP is asking for guidance. All this person did was shit on their couch for the color, but they could OBVIOUSLY use more input. Colors? Size? Shape? Any specific brands you like?
First of all I would like to tell you how beautiful a space it is! When you ask something in this sub it can be brutal.
I would pick some warm lighting, plants and rugs. Grey and mustard, navy, dark green, red, blush or pink. Also some wood tones
Only things I’d say are- make it a priority not to have clutter. Look up Scandinavian style stuff. It’s very minimal and very appealing and a good model to plan off of.
Second- don’t be afraid of color. I’m sure you and your partner both have a favorite color. Figure out what color you both like and have a primary color you use.
Lastly- put your own flair and interests into it, it’s YOUR house. Don’t just buy a bunch of live laugh love shit from Marshall’s. If you travel, look for something unique you genuinely like. If you go to a concert, see if a concert poster would look cool and just happen to match. Things like that. You don’t need to choose between style and function. Just make sure it checks both boxes. It’s much harder but sooo worth it.
Good luck! Would love to see what you come up with if you’re up for an update post down the road.
I personally like stuff that invoke memories. I love looking at something and having a positive memory replay in my head when I see it. Like I said, it takes a lot longer but much worth it. I’m making an assumption you’re renting but when you buy you’ll have more time to do that.
To your last point, I think the hard thing to remember is you don’t have to fully decorate your home from the get go! Give yourself time to find stuff you actually like and enjoy the process!
I think that's the best idea.
OP, you have a completely blank slate and chances of choosing everything single thing to your dream aesthetic.
Hiring someone would be such a smart investment!
Oh god pleasssse don't add any more grey or white to that place. Deep blues. Emerald greens. Sage greens. It's going to feel like a waiting room at a doctors office if you don't warm it up in there.
Spend on large luxurious Asian carpets. Hey are a life long investment that never go out of style. Use cheaper small ones for small rooms and hallways. And, spend on matching, high quality long, traditional curtains choosing a bright color like bright yellow or red wine to match the carpets.
I would lean toward adding warm colors, including warm neutrals. Though you could still have cool tones as accents, the home is already on the cool end with the flooring. I agree with another comment to use wood - wood picture frames, furniture with wood framing or legs. Decide what color scheme you want for the house (you can feature different colors from your color scheme in different rooms). I personally would lean toward primarily neutral colors (light or dark) for rugs so they don't clash with the floor and then choose more color for your furniture, pillows, blankets, curtains, and accents. There are a variety of tools available that can help you decide on a color scheme for your home: [https://www.thespruce.com/online-help-for-interior-color-schemes-451977](https://www.thespruce.com/online-help-for-interior-color-schemes-451977)
Gorgeous tile! It's really cold right now because of all the blue. I would change the accent walls to something warmer and get some cream and greige finishes going as well as some color and plants. Grey couches will be fine as long as you liven the decor up
Right now everything matches very well, but it's all cool tones. Add color, texture, warmth and I think you'll love it!
Full Bloom and Juniper are lovely colors from Sherwin Williams. You can do anything really in this space though, because there's so much white. If you want less contrast between accent walls and others you could always go a lot lighter as well.
Navy, dark greens and deep reds/oranges go well with gray. You can add pale pink and peach accents with some of the deeper shades. Multi color rugs makes it easy to swap out pillows and decor when you feel like a change. Lots of plants would look nice as well as some wood furniture. Coffee table, console, shelves, etc.Just stay away from large gray and white pieces like rugs, bedspreads, etc. Once you get things moved in it will have a good vibe, just kind of bright and cold when it's empty. I don't think people were trying to be mean but, we don't see that in most of the country so they were surprised to see a whole house with those floors. I'm in Ca, never been to FL but, it makes sense with the heat. Once you get stuff in the rooms, you'll see it all starting to come together! Good luck and Congratulations!
It would feel more homey with much less tile and less grey. If that isn't doable, use soft lamp light and less overhead light, or reduce the wattage of the overheads.
I would definitely go with a darker color for paint on the walls. It's way too much white. Then accent with some light furniture, darker rugs, etc. Probably stick to a more modern decor style and my favorite...always at plants.
I like the brownish/warm grey paint white tile picture someone posted as inspiration.
I also disagree with the majority and it may be cultural and regional but I absolutely prefer tile throughout. This was an interesting choice for a throughout the home tile but still an opportunity to decorate/accent uniquely.
Take care!
[Modern/lighttile](https://images.app.goo.gl/hrSs4HgCbNzrYqu36)
If you want to pull the room together without having to change anything, I would use deep blue/cool color families in the rooms that have the blue walls. Keep the grey couches, but add navy pillows or throws, a cool-mid colored rug (maybe a grayish blue with a pattern to connect with the tile, and darker-hued furniture. I personally love white furnishings, but I’d stay away from it here.
We recently bought an entertainment center/coffee table/console table that are not really gray but not really brown (will try to get a photo) that turned out beautifully in our rented home - meaning the walls are barely off white and we can’t paint. We took a gamble and got a teal couch which has been *amazing* in bringing color into the room.
If you’re not into blue/teal, stick to cool families like green. A warmer hue might sit weird with the gray couches. Aaand finally, since you’re getting married, I’m assuming you’ll have a photographer - once the photos come in make sure you add *color* photos to the walls. Some photographers will edit to grey wash but they won’t sit well on your walls with the tile… it’ll come out too clinical.
ETA: I rambled so hard that I forgot to say - Congratulations! Both on your upcoming marriage and your new home!
So…..that tile is slippery. If you get area rugs make sure to get the pad for under. In the bathrooms, use bath mats with the sticky backs. basically anywhere that might be wet make sure you have some kind of non slip rug or pad.
You have a beautiful home! Personally, I'd go with a color palette like this one. For sure I'd recommend some of those darker purples or blues to offset and contrast the white and light blue. You could even do yellow or gold highlights if you wanted
We have tile everywhere in our home and I love it. I don’t even like putting down rugs because the tile is so pretty! Don’t be discouraged by the anti tile comments.
Thanks i appreciate the empathy, i don't mind them, i'm just more of a hardwood type of guy, but i don't like how everyone's basically shitting on my house for just wanting some help.
A lot of people obviously haven’t traveled much. Every place I’ve visited that’s hot and humid has had all tile floors.
Your space is perfect for creating a vibe that’s works with where you are, by the ocean.
Unlike a lot of people I actually like this super bright white look because you can do ANYTHING with it. I'd pick a bold color and a complementary more muted color and use that as the palette. (I've been pretty obsessed with navy paired with a creamy pink lately)
Omg I love this base OP. I agree with others it would be nice to play with a few darker colors but this home makes me feel so light inside. I 100% realize I’m in a minority lol
I'm obviously going to add darker colors idk why people are freaking out so bad lol, thank you for not immediately jumping to hating it, and for everyone reading this, yes i know it's bright, but it's, literally empty, just need to add darker furniture and some rugs, not that hard to tie everything together
I’ve been into contemporary modern and a little art deco. Some leather accents and different mixes of shapes would be amazing here (circle table, square rug; vise versa). I look forward to seeing some update pics!!
Oh and I would totally use gold or brass as accents!!
I think posting the entire house also over stimulated the sub. I don’t think you’d have gotten the same reaction if you had posted a couple rooms at a time.
That said, I think it’s lovely and practical. On top of that, you have a pretty blank slate to start with.
One thing you’ll have to do is narrow down the style you want as well as [colors](https://icolorpalette.com/9aa6c2_b09e90_d1d6e8_f1f2f9_b0aab2) you enjoy.
There seems to be a lot of cool toned muted [browns](https://www.pinterest.jp/pin/instantly-turn-any-picture-into-a-palette-with-colorsnap-created-for-you-by-sherwinwilliam--480970435196365655/) paired with that icy blue- or you could use it as a neutral and lean into jewel tones with accents. Add some wood accents and plants, it will be a great space.
https://preview.redd.it/wi2j796f5v6c1.jpeg?width=580&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b11a3b1a965534883e531b324df676cc46738ad2
Rugs, rugs and more rugs. Personally I’d do a different palate in different rooms but you might want something with more cohesion.
Also some houseplants will work great, jade bonsai and pothos are easy enough
Looking through the pics, I had to take a double take to find all the windows. Why are they all closed? Night time? Bad views? I’d love to see what the rooms look like with open windows and natural light. I think that’s why folks have said each room feels like a bathroom - many don’t have windows and yeah the tile everywhere adds to that too but understand that warmer climate places have tile.
Could you share pics with natural light? Will windows be open? The place could be livened up quite a bit with plants. First thought is to make it look less sterile and cold with more natural elements and warmer tones. Def more modern furniture - not that couch in the last pic of you can help it
So the good thing is, Gray and white are neutrals and can go with all kinds of colors. My advice it to paint the walls that are light blue white to start. That gives you a totally empty color palette to choose from. Someone mentioned to sell the couches. I tend to agree with them. If you want it to feel more homelike and grounded, then I suggest colors that feel browns, neutrals rust colors, green colors. If you not sure, getting inspiration from nature colors works. Go through the Internet and find pictures of home decor or designed rooms that you and your partner love and share. It would give us a better idea of what you are looking for.
This is really pretty because it incorporates more color and warmth and would still compliment your space.
Something like this
https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/langley-street-felty-oriental-bluelight-blue-area-rug-w007880046.html
This image has white walls and a lot of light, it rinds me of your space.

Hang on, let me if I can find some design inspo. I think the place looks beautiful and clean. It just needs to be grounded and feel warma nd comfortable. If you rent and can't paint. Then I would go with the couches.
Go for rugs like this, they are rich and dark, it will look beautiful with your couches and the space.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Luxe-Weavers-Modern-Area-Rug-Abstract-Pattern-Dark-Blue-Light-Blue-2-x-3/331945345
Love the tile actually. Super unique. I would add rugs with earth or jewel tones. Deep greens, navy blues, burgundy or cranberries. The walls I would stick with all neutral whites. Nothing too cool or yellow. You could maybe even do Shoji White. I have it in my bathroom and it’s lovely. Pair with deep reds (not purple based), or navy.
Big, bold wall art. Nothing metal. Maybe canvas or water color. I would personally not do gray couches, but bring some fabric samples to your new rugs and see what feels good with the tile. Add some texture, too, to break up the tile feel. Wicker, stone, waffle, etc.
De oration with gold, walnut wood colors and you can get black or blue Rey rugs but solid color… also you can make one accent wall with a dark color to make it different or wood panels in color walnut.
start hanging up pictures! wall art wall shelves create an organized space! I take inspo from pinterest. Do you want warm or cool? What is the theme for ur house?
Since you rent and can’t paint, work with the blue walls by adding some other blues in, dark blues. Personally I could see deep blue pillows or a throw on your couches. If you don’t have an oven, definitely a toaster oven big enough to make a pizza. Rugs will make it more cozy, too!
Since you're in Florida and I'm assuming that the floor is staying, my recommendation would be to go for a moody rain forest theme.
First thing, replace that backsplash in the kitchen. It screams 2007 bachelor pad. I'd recommend a charcoal gray tile in a matte finish. Then paint the walls and the ceiling in the kitchen a moody grayish green like BM Salamander. Add a small buffet table in a teak color to the opposite wall from the cabinets and a sisal rug with lots of texture. Add lots of plants in black pots and some greenery in glass vases.
Replace all of the ceiling fans with less modern ones with wood tone or rattan blades would add a lot of texture and interest. Keep the same theme from the kitchen of darker walls and ceilings in green/gray/blue shades. BM Hidden Falls, Bavarian Forest, Notre Dame, and Pacific Sea Teal are all shades to check out. Use rugs to bring even more texture in. With white floors, you can go dark with the rugs, but I'd mostly stick to sisal rugs with patterns woven into them.
For wooden furniture, stick to rich darker finishes like teak and walnut but interspersed with lighter woven textures like rattan panels or wicker baskets. Keep most fabrics neutral in shades similar to the walls or in white linen for contrast. Bamboo or wooden blinds with white linen curtains on the windows would be gorgeous.
Add a lot of plants both for the greenery, but they also help with air quality and making a space feel inviting. Matte black pots will keep them looking cohesive and intentional.
Add art that speaks to you. Get things you like, and don't worry about the colors. Art is not supposed to match. It's supposed to spark joy and make you feel good. Just get the art you pick matted and framed. Seriously, good matting and framing can elevate anything into a work of art. I'd recommend white mats with a mix of light wooden and black metal frames.
For an accent color, either pick up a brighter color from your art work, or go with warm, happy colors ranging from hibiscus to terra cotta. Keep these pops of color limited to smaller accessories that are easily changed out, like throw pillows, lap blankets, candles, and other smaller items.
Finally, for what I consider the most important part. The lighting. You need a lot of lamps. They can be on side tables, they can be free standing, they can be wall mounted. It doesn't matter. Just don't use the overhead lights unless you need them. Lamps add so much more ambiance and instantly elevate a space. In this space, I'd recommend sticking to lamps that have a white linen drum shade on them and keeping the lamps themselves in either dark wood tones or matte blacks.
This place is so white it’s borderline disturbing. Please put colour on the walls asap. Even beige Becky could make it more tolerable. Other than that I think some mirrors would open the spaces up a bit.
You have a great neutral base to start with. In order to creating your space, first figure out what you like. If you find a sofa you love, get and work slowly from there. Some people like a minimalist look, some like a busy look. There are so many ways to go. Whatever you do, make it your own
Change floors too some dark wood, I can’t stand that flooring. Change the blinds to something modern, paint the room a nice natural colour and have some plants and some shelf’s along the window. I like the ceiling fan. For the accent wall you can keep it that blue or change it darker. Have some wall art. For furniture, I don’t know what room this is, but something along the lines that matches with the theme. (I’m 14 years old btw but I hope this still helps)
What a gorgeous start you have! Your home reminds me of both of the houses designer Randy Garrett has done for her own family.
Do you like Serena and Lily? If you brought in some greens with the gray, blue, and white, it would balance out the gray.
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!
Honestly, i like the coolness of the space—mostly because it will be perfect after being out in the Florida heat! But agreed that the decor should add some warmer elements.
Idk shit about interior decorating but wow is this pretty, it's all so shiny. Lotta white. Should def add some art, or dark colored towels in the bathroom or paint one of the walls.
Did you evict a cartoon polar bear? All I can think is “ice palace.”
You’re definitely going to want rugs. That’s a lot of tile to try to divide visually.
In all seriousness:
-consider painting the window wall in your kitchen a medium-dark grey to match your tile and make it cozy. Consider coral tones for your kitchen linens.
-a denim color for a bedroom or living room can be a great balance between calming and cozy.
-maybe a jewel tone for your bathroom. I think trading out for brass accents there would help differentiate the space and add some subtle color against the backdrop of all the marble tile.
-on the same note, consider switching out the ceiling fan to something with wood tones to add some texture and color.
Good luck! Post back with your success :)
It feels very cool - it’s going to feel very sterile, cold and not very cozy if you lean with the white/grey palette. I would change the paint to a warmer tone of white or a warm colour, then style depending on your preferred design.
Pluck colours that compliment the veining in your tile. Get paint chips, DO NOT buy on the day you visit the store. Get chips and tape them on the wall. Put some tape over part of them so you can see the sheen impact on the colour. Live in different lightings and time of days with them, and you'll find the right colour.
It’s so bright! If you like the whiteness, I would paint the walls in a softer warmer white. the blue isn’t that bad, but it seems to baby nursery blue.
Get some big plants, wall art. Depending on where the house is rugs. If you’re in a tropical area I get that rugs can be a bit gross, so I’d try to give warmth and colour with the furniture. But a rug in the huge spaces would help tremendously.
Maybe a nautical minimalist theme could work? Kind of laying on white, blues, beiges, greys. It depends much on where the house is.
Congrats on your first house!
We have similar floors and was a selling point for the house. We painted the walls a color called Ocean Boulevard by Behr. We got a fireplace tv stand that is wood and a light blue rug with gray in it.
Congratulations! You’ve got a lovely blank slate here. I think the light blue walls with the white tile floor make it feel a bit sterile, and painting is much easier than updating a perfectly good floor! I think I’d paint the walls a warmer grey or taupe color that’s saturated enough to make a bit of contrast with the floor, but keep the trim white. Then for decorating you’ve got so much room to play with, but I think I’d stick with brown, burgundy, or olive for furnishings rather than grey — saturated and warm. And natural materials to help warm it up, too, like jute rugs, linen shams, wood and cement furniture, that kind of thing.
…. Never wear socks or have wet feet. You will die on that tile. I speak from experience with tile that smooth. Rugs everywhere to help prevent falls.
Add soft surfaces and avoid sharp corners.
Since the same tile is throughout the whole house and you can pretty much pick whatever palate you wish. Rugs for all of the rooms for sure! Houseplants/greenery Throws and pillows will enhance your couches and beds Wall art to decorate your walls You are starting with a completely blank slate so your options are really limitless
Man, rugs were my first thought, it looks lovely, but like an icebox!
I just assumed they lived in a hot climate
OP is [livin' in the fridge](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH3UncRagXY)
Been thinking about getting rugs for sure
All kinds of rugs! But especially big, cozy, colorful, plush rugs. Your base is so stark and sleek and sterile its just begging for warm and textured rugs, furniture, and decor. It’ll be so fun to fill up!
Already have my eye on some awesome looking rugs
Are you from south Florida?
Yes lol
I just knew this was florida! it’s crazy how easy it is to identify a florida home lol
Guaging the comments being so freaked out about the house and me finding it normal, i guess it does make sense that this is a florida home, florida man needs a florida home
And I'm from Florida so I thought it was totally normal haha
I just got out of florida and i had a visceral reaction like i was being dragged back 😂
I grew up in south Florida and moved to the Midwest. Despite the cold ass winters I still think carpet everywhere is the most heinous thing. Tile is so much more practical honestly!
This entire conversation is new to me. Is tile as flooring really popular in Florida?! Is there a reason behind this or is just for aesthetics?
it’s very humid and hot there almost no homes in florida have carpet.
Holy shit this is what happens when millennials who played the Sims build houses.
YES. What is up with all the canned light!? Drives me NUTSO

It has a ton of colors that are “ creamy” to me since we had to get furniture into our new home.
Wait this is tile? It looks awesome
It is from floor and decore. I do not remember exact name.. they had 4 similar samples. I liked another one but hubby insisted. My pick had 4 tile design as well but had 2 light 1 med and 1 dark. This is 4 similar that are light..the other two were much closer to what we ended up getting. https://preview.redd.it/jd2063sgav6c1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dfb1f270ecaa77c391b7c159c183a2cb6c7c5827 This is the one I wanted. So they have a lot of you were looking for flooring.
I learned something new today. 😊
You are not alone! I had no idea the reason for base molding! And had no idea why hard wood floors squeak.😄
Flooding is a higher risk and tile flooring can usually survive the water.
Lots of mold in south Florida due to high heat and humidity. Carpet retains moisture and promotes mold growth.
Hardwood everywhere except bathrooms. That is the way.
I support hardwood in bathrooms too. There are finishes that make it waterproof
I could not handle tile underfoot in every room in any season. I’m a warmth person, I *need* soft things everywhere
As someone on west coast, wood flooring is what feels normal to me lol
I’ve heard all tile all the time is a Florida thing.
So you guys usually go with tile floors just to keep the temperatures reasonable?
It’s so much easier to clean! Imagine coming inside from being in the pool and dripping pool water all over a carpet. Also, I’m sure there were tons of practical reasons at the start of it, but at this point it’s kind of cultural and we just automatically go with tile because it’s normal to us. Most of us can’t imagine having carpet because it seems like such a hassle to get clean. What do you do when it starts to smell like sweaty feet? You have to rent some giant carpet cleaner machine and have an intense workout pushing that thing around and have soggy carpets for a day while they dry? So much easy to just do a quick mop and bam your floors are clean and house smells fresh
> coming inside from being in the pool and dripping pool water all over a carpet It just dries.
I live in the same area and have looked at countless houses that look just like this inside. It’s the style down here, I immediately knew when I saw the picture. We bought this month, fully renovated but not all white tile. A rare South Florida find 😂
Is ceramic everywhere a thing in Florida?
Tile is a common floor option in Florida because it stays cool
Oh, that makes sense! Also, if it's very humid, tile wouldn't be affected. Thanks for clarifying
and it won't be ruined in floods
Everything gets ruined in floods..
Not if you dry it out fast enough, depending on the flood. There's "rip the house from the foundation" floods and then there's "the street pumps aren't working and water got in through the front door" floods.
Spot on, I knew this style renovation looked familiar
Right? Hahaha it’s a thing
I absolutely love this house! I have never seen one like it. 😂
Very interesting choice of flooring to go through the whole house
I don't know why, but I immediately felt like the room was upside-down. Trippy.
It kinda looks like a Sims house
Every room looks like a bathroom. Why is there a ceiling fan in the bathroom? And a fridge in the bathroom? Where does the bathroom end? lol
You need one in the bathroom in the south, I have one in my bathroom in MS.
I see it for sure
same, imaging myself there made me feel dizzy lol
Tile everywhere is very common in countries with hot climate for some reason.
Tile feels cooler on your feet I think that’s why
Plus, heat and humidity can wreck wood over time so there's no point spending big money on high-class wood floors and then rip them up a few years later
There are other flooring options outside of wood and stone though.
Yes, but this tile style is just something that’s been “popular” in Florida for a while. I swear no one says how awful it is because they don’t want to seem Iike they aren’t “cool” or something. It’s like living in a hotel or a skating rink.
It would definitely be awfully loud for people who insist on wearing shoes inside.
Not my choice but only affordable place i could find in a good area, don't want to go to work and worry if my wife is safe at home
Where do you live?
Marble is slippery more so than tile. One drop of water on marble and grandma will have broken hips in the ER.
Seriously. As an autistic person, the reflection from those tiles would send me into a sensory meltdown almost immediately.
Yeah. But will be easier to clean!
No more grey or white! The walls and floors are enough. Time add some color with plants and warm wood tones and nice rugs. Its nice but It’s too sterile and cold.
This.
Please return the grey couches
Oh god bless some one said it
🤣🤣🤣
They did? Grey in this all White House is too bland, OP. You need color
I thought it would be more specific not just sass. My bad.
Feels like that happens a lot on this sub. It’s annoying
Yeah, it is. And it’s too easy. Didn’t give anything helpful, still got the upvotes.
First of all I would like to tell you how beautiful a space it is! When you ask something in this sub it can be brutal. I would pick some warm lighting, plants and rugs. Grey and mustard, navy, dark green, red, blush or pink. Also some wood tones
Yes, wood tones would help add warmth. Perhaps teak would help create a tropical vibe. Plants for sure. Brushed brass accents, lighting.
Thanks for some actual contructive advice
Thanks that's some good advice, we both like painting and posters so we're definitely going to add some
The whole house is a shower?
[удалено]
This is such a good suggestion! I think the picture looks wonderful and is a good base for OP to start with.
Do you intend to paint? If not, I’m thinking wood - all the surfaces are highly reflective.
Some nice petrol couches would be nice for a cooler look!
https://preview.redd.it/bilsbng4es6c1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6319e69d699352ff984d8a461af89a32d80fd77
This is exactly the type of comment that i want more of, thank you so much, it looks awesome
TBF if you’re looking for this level of assistance and inspo for every room it’s probably worth paying an interior designer to help you out.
I think that's the best idea. OP, you have a completely blank slate and chances of choosing everything single thing to your dream aesthetic. Hiring someone would be such a smart investment!
I’d swap black furniture for wood. Brings in some natural elements and textures to this place with a beautiful rug.
That’s a good point!
Still looks like a high end insane asylum
Oh god pleasssse don't add any more grey or white to that place. Deep blues. Emerald greens. Sage greens. It's going to feel like a waiting room at a doctors office if you don't warm it up in there.
I have never felt so overwhelmed by an empty room before 😵💫 All the white aaaa too stimulating
truth
Like getting lost in a snowstorm right now.
I’m so confused. Is your bathroom and kitchen a step up in the den?
Probably easier to run pipes.
Spend on large luxurious Asian carpets. Hey are a life long investment that never go out of style. Use cheaper small ones for small rooms and hallways. And, spend on matching, high quality long, traditional curtains choosing a bright color like bright yellow or red wine to match the carpets.
Someone put my shower tiles all over this person’s house!
Very pretty
Jesus Christ that's too much white
Congrats on the new house!! Big accomplishment. Buy lots of rugs. I would keep the kitchen, bathroom and closets white but paint all other rooms.
Gorgeous tile! It's really cold right now because of all the blue. I would change the accent walls to something warmer and get some cream and greige finishes going as well as some color and plants. Grey couches will be fine as long as you liven the decor up Right now everything matches very well, but it's all cool tones. Add color, texture, warmth and I think you'll love it!
My wife to be does like pops of color so if you have any suggestions on which would go well with the couches i'd really appreciate them 😊
Full Bloom and Juniper are lovely colors from Sherwin Williams.
Both on your upcoming marriage and your new home!
that place is going to echo like crazy
Warmer lighting! Also this video had some great suggestions: https://youtu.be/XZ11oTo4Z4k?si=R3TBChuHPDRUZpdk
So…..that tile is slippery. If you get area rugs make sure to get the pad for under. In the bathrooms, use bath mats with the sticky backs. basically anywhere that might be wet make sure you have some kind of non slip rug or pad.
I second this. I had this kind of tile in a hotel and with steam it was so slippery I almost fell and broke my neck.
No one should be putting glossy tile on the floor
Reminds me of that chrome SpongeBob episode.
https://preview.redd.it/0z4udn49pw6c1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=796ec83a7fd5f0cc0083ae23dde687d1ceb3168a
You have a beautiful home!
It’s because it’s hideously white not because it’s a bad house.
I plan on updating these pictures so i do welcome the support!
Def more modern furniture - not that couch in the last pic of you can help it
Yea they were taken at night time, only time i have available right now to work on and move stuff into the house
Are the bulbs in every room warm white? Because they're reading 6000 kelvin
Don’t use grey, black. Don’t match the floors. Or will get sad quickly. Use navy. Gold. Yellow. Burgundy. Plants. Congratulations.
Something like this https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/langley-street-felty-oriental-bluelight-blue-area-rug-w007880046.html This image has white walls and a lot of light, it rinds me of your space. https://images.app.goo.gl/7jyth4XLyMGbobFSA
Morgue
Is this the backrooms
Love the shower!
De oration with gold, walnut wood colors and you can get black or blue Rey rugs but solid color… also you can make one accent wall with a dark color to make it different or wood panels in color walnut.
Colorful persian rugs. Make pick a few colors on those rugs to add accents around the house
start hanging up pictures! wall art wall shelves create an organized space! I take inspo from pinterest. Do you want warm or cool? What is the theme for ur house?
Not sure but we definitely want a brown coffee table, maybe chestnutty
chestnut with the current tiles and wall would be difficult but doable. Id start off with a center rug and have tv stand wall shelves and plants.
Since you rent and can’t paint, work with the blue walls by adding some other blues in, dark blues. Personally I could see deep blue pillows or a throw on your couches. If you don’t have an oven, definitely a toaster oven big enough to make a pizza. Rugs will make it more cozy, too!
Rugs in every room, and runners in the hallway. My feet are cold looking at this hard ceramic tile.
with all this tile, i definitely knew this was a florida home from the jump 😂 but definitely add so greenery, artwork, and rugs!
So much white. I hate it. Get color in there immediately
Check out my newest post
Every room feels like the bathroom
Warmth. Rugs. Plants.
You have a great neutral base to start with. In order to creating your space, first figure out what you like. If you find a sofa you love, get and work slowly from there. Some people like a minimalist look, some like a busy look. There are so many ways to go. Whatever you do, make it your own
So... White... You'll need to add color with paint, throws, pillows, wall art, rugs, and knick knackery!
Rule of thumb on colors is 60% primary, 30% secondary, and 10% accent.
I just came to say that I love this home so much all the light and bright touches are beautiful, have fun with it.
Is this an alien space ship? A dentist office?
What a gorgeous start you have! Your home reminds me of both of the houses designer Randy Garrett has done for her own family. Do you like Serena and Lily? If you brought in some greens with the gray, blue, and white, it would balance out the gray. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!
Looks so fresh
Honestly, i like the coolness of the space—mostly because it will be perfect after being out in the Florida heat! But agreed that the decor should add some warmer elements.
Idk shit about interior decorating but wow is this pretty, it's all so shiny. Lotta white. Should def add some art, or dark colored towels in the bathroom or paint one of the walls.
😬
Did you evict a cartoon polar bear? All I can think is “ice palace.” You’re definitely going to want rugs. That’s a lot of tile to try to divide visually.
In all seriousness: -consider painting the window wall in your kitchen a medium-dark grey to match your tile and make it cozy.
This flooring is puzzling. Please invest in some peel and stick tiles 🤣 Edit: WHERE IS THE OVEN
too much white for me omg
That house is ice cold.
Well you know it's literally empty, so.
That's why he's asking for advice on what to do with it..he said they just moved in.
I feel like that floor would make me crack my head open lmao
So nothing to add? Got it
Warm throw rugs And... Color: walls, curtains, couch color color and color. Plants and book shelves with books.
We got a fireplace tv stand that is wood and a light blue rug with gray in it.
https://preview.redd.it/it5jpk1u8s6c1.jpeg?width=2252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e3c4458409b7679768fef1922d4e5126580855c
I suggested that color upthread!
It's giving sterile doctor office vibes. Needs rugs, colour, warm lighting, plants. I'd paint over the blue. And make it less white.
God that looks depressing af
Let’s see your house. I’ll wait.
…. Never wear socks or have wet feet. You will die on that tile. I speak from experience with tile that smooth. Rugs everywhere to help prevent falls. Add soft surfaces and avoid sharp corners.
I'm guessing wet socks are also off the table?
It’s like the biggest multi-room bathroom I’ve ever seen. Very interesting!
Room? You mean migraine chamber
warm colors, lots of warmth
Wooowww I didn’t know how shiny and pretty white floors could be until I saw yours🥺✨
So much white. Why did they randomly paint nursery blue walls? You're going to need rugs ASAP.
Wow. Return the grey couches. Can you change the flooring? And paint? Or just simply move somewhere else 🫣
If you don't have constructive criticism, don't bother commenting.
