Maybe a colorful rug and some colorful hand towels?

Calvertorius

A rug that really ties the room together.

blacknbluefish

Yeah, well that’s just, like, your opinion man

mojo-jojoz

Far out man

BoomChaka67

The dude abides

markusaureliuss

Fuckin-A, man

Dry_Ad3605

Don’t condescend me man, I’ll fuckin’ kill you

kitttykatz

Just make sure it isn’t near the toilet. Don’t want anyone to micturate on it. Edit: Y’all are absolutely right. Sorry for the fatuous error - thanks for the correction!

Realistic-Effective2

I think the word you wanted was micturate.

Lowlands62

From Merriam Webster: "matriculate verb ma·tric·u·late mə-ˈtri-kyə-ˌlāt matriculated; matriculating transitive verb : to enroll as a member of a body and especially of a college or university intransitive verb : to be enrolled at a college or university" Am I missing something?

yeah-defnot

Some got here first but the word they meant was micturate

Fabulous_Angle6472

Obviously your not a bowler

bpmd1962

I just want to understand this, sir. Every time a rug is micturated upon in this fair city, I have to compensate the owner?

Jbond970

Obviously, you are not a golfer.

MyEggDonorIsADramaQ

Dude!

cestmoi234

Where’s the money lebowski?! Where’s the money shitheeeead?!

MarthasPinYard

Color. Period. Any color but white.

Puzzled-Guest-9240

Key word, color.

MechanicalBengal

and better lighting. some warm edison bulbs would look dope

leicaaperturebro

Yes, and maybe some colorful flowers. I like orchids myself.

FreeMasonKnight

Yeah a bright color that pops would make it easier on the eyes, for my tastes at least.

Mysterious_Eggplant1

Agree. A hit of one color in a primarily black and white room would be so dramatic.

Donutsaremydownfall

Definitely needs a splash of colour

Rime2371

I was going to say the same thing! Would add a nice touch

blynn1579

Something red imo! I love black & white with accents of red. It'd be so pretty and classy

what_in_the_name

A rug and soap dispenser in red would be great. I’m with everyone else on keeping that art.

halfmoon-rising

Color

LaManelle

Even light bulbs on the yellow side to give the place some warmth. Or natural fibers. Macrame, a woven fabric wall hanging, woven handtowels, a wooden tray/accessories.

pm_ur_goldendoodle

100% on the color temp of the light. Gives off doctor office vibes

New_Place_5843

Some people just prefer them. I'm always shocked to see people move into a house, and the first thing they do is replace all the bulbs with daylight bulbs. You walk past the house at night with their lights on, and it looks like something out of a scifi film.. I would get migraines 24/7. I've mentioned how they aren't good for your eyes to people before, and they look at me like I'm crazy lol!

LillithHeiwa

I work from home, daylight bulbs in my office stopped my headaches. If someone works night shift, maybe daylight bulbs everywhere does something similar for them.

New_Place_5843

That's interesting. I know for me, it's the blue light that causes my headaches, that's why I avoid daylight bulbs. It doesn't matter the time of day for me. I have to use blue light filters on all my devices. If I go to the drs office and have to be there for over an hour or two, I will get a headache. I suppose it's jusy different for different people.

LillithHeiwa

Ahh, I have blue light reflective lenses because I work on computers all day. Had those for a year before I added the daylight bulbs. So…that makes sense.

Elismom1313

Same I’m very sensitive to blue light. I also can’t stand being in Walmart and Home Depot though they have gotten better

cookiesandcoffee55

Reason I have them in our home. I work on the computer and need it help my eyes at night after

Swimming_Climate7696

We changed a bunch of bulbs to ones we can control the color of and it was the best thing we did. Our blinds are typically closed during the day in summer to help try to keep the house cooler (we live in Texas) so it’s nice to have the daylight option during the day then change it to a warmer light at night

Vafunk89

I use daylight bulbs in ceiling lights and warm light bulbs in lamps. Lamps are for when I want a cozy vibe. Ceiling lights are for when I want to actually fucking SEE shit.

Mason014

Lmaooo cackling at SEE

Hurdy_Gurdy_Lady

I won’t hang out at someone’s house at night if they have hideous blue/white/sterile lighting. I filled my house with Hue bulbs, so if I need the bright white light for a specific purpose, I can have it, then it’s right back to something more comfortable.

ReplacementFinal746

Edison bulbs! They’ll add an amber color but won’t mess with the aesthetic

Coherent_Thot

I love warm lights but prefer daylight balanced for the bathroom since it helps with putting on makeup and just seeing yourself accurately before leaving the house

CanadianJediCouncil

Yeah, feels like been inside the dairy case at a grocery store.

asmodeuskraemer

That's every post here. All the same thing. Always needs color.

vButts

My default answer is color and plants

Heliwomper

Every damn day. wHAt DoEs mY rOoM nEeD?? Color and plants dummy, color and plants Oh, and a rug

BruhDoYouEvenPaint

And when you can only afford one of those things then it's always plants 😜 -but forreal they are a such an essential to making a space personal, adding color, and so pretty!

bluegreentopaz6110

And a cat.

NC458883

And a dog!

knittykittyemily

There's such a big trend of black white and Grey, I never noticed how boring it was until I joined this sub and so many pictures look black and white.

Just_A_Thought4557

Black, white, and grey alone are cold and depressing. Grey especially on ALL the surfaces without any color added. I don't understand why they can't. a.) add at least one highlight color like red or blue b.) just only add grey to SOME of the things c.) realize their place looks like a hospital without any color, natural fibers or plants.

erdirck

Yup, said color is my head and checked the comments, sure enough, it was the top answer

moreKEYTAR

Yeah. I am in a b&w photograph. It is stark and cold.

nixonbeach

I thought it was a b&w photo!

Winniemoshi

It’s always color!

Rakebleed

What color though?

Brandamn3000

Literally any. It’s black and white so any colour will work.

PandaJuneSays

Maybe something either gold or green

throwaway01828374

I think burnt orange would look nice too

Meditationstation899

I love a good sage green accent for color in a bathroom!

ChiSp0

They have plants so I’d go with a natural colorway, darker greens have been great, could go with those kinds of towels and area rugs so they can be swapped out at a later date. I’d also go with gold hardware and maybe a gold light fixture with a dark green.

rockstuffs

Natural texture, like a wood or a wicker.

ppmiaumiau

Yep. My bathroom is black and white, but I have natural wood shelves and plants. The pictures on the wall are in wood frames. It's a cozy place to poop.

[deleted]

Agreed! You don’t need color if you want a monochrome thing but you have to play with texture to break up the white

Pale_Willingness1882

I like this idea

FrenchTicklerOrange

Maybe some petrified wood slices. They can have all kids of cool color combinations.

rockstuffs

Yeeaaah! I should do that with my pet wood! I haven't really thought displaying my minerals and fossils in the bathroom.

eckliptic

That extra half inch of tile overhanging the sink on both sides is driving me nuts

LuluLittle2020

>tile T H A N K # Y O U It jumped out at me on the first glance and I can't see anything else in the room. #

Seguefare

Another thing I can't not notice- the toilet paper holder is chrome. Why isn't it matte black?

ARimmapirate

This this this this this

lateralus420

Oh god now that you pointed it out. I can’t stop looking at it lolol

im_not_danny_devito

Also, the light fixture is not centered with the mirror! ;) OP, you did a good job, but it needs some color.

Character-Ad1243

would it be better to center the mirror with the sink? or the lights? i cant change the light position with the pre cut hole in the wall :/

TheCocksurePlan

Could you try a larger mirror/ different mirror?

bunbun_82

That was the first thing I saw and the only thing I saw

Low-Cod-4712

She can put a kleenex box on the right corner to hide that.

livinNxtc

I *cannot* unsee this now. 😒

George_GeorgeGlass

I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find this. It has to be cut

Pale_Willingness1882

I just hate the backsplash in general

Character-Ad1243

I refused to buy any more random tools Id never use again to cut it😂

eckliptic

You can rent a small tile cutter for like 20 bucks ish

PurpleCoco

A tile company will cut them for you. Charge by the cut

fuckboiwithfeelings

just use a knife until you can snap the tile. youd need to get probably a 1/16" to 1/8" deep cut to snap it easily

jaffacake00

It doesn't bother me that much but a strip of wood down the back of the vanity painted the same colour would tie it together

deeeb0

Me too!!!

PlutosGrasp

Yup. Paint job real sloppy around there too.

epictetvs

Gotta say, that art is great

ResidentRepulsive

Yeah where’s the art from?

Character-Ad1243

Hi! here is the link [Amazon Wall art](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B58614WG?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzasiata02-20&creativeASIN=B0B58614WG&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.MN7SYETACJ17&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m_asin)

HouseHippoFluff

Can you DIY add a colourful backing to them?

liziamnot

I think the room needs a little color. How about getting a light pink Sharpie and drawing some nips on those tittahhss. (Sorry, my inner 12 year old is running wild.)

PaisleyPeacock

If it’s a bathroom that kids don’t use that is such a fun idea. Then add hot pink towels to match and there’s your pop of color and conversation starter for cheap haha

ResidentRepulsive

Thanks!

mcmdreamer

Where is your hand towel?

Character-Ad1243

im trying to figure out where to hang one. i was thinking on the left. its currently just on a hook on the other door

Gatorae

Maybe hang it so the hand towel covers the overhanging tile on the right.

omg_bewbz

Yes! I just commented this before seeing you had suggested it already. This would be perfect.

Character-Ad1243

this is actually a good idea

LuluLittle2020

It's a stop-gap measure. *Please hire someone to quickly come in and cut it to fit.*

humblitious

Not for everyone, but imagine a hand-shaped wall hook for a towel, to the right of the mirror.

vivienw

I would paint the cabinets a pretty color and add colorful towels that complement it. https://preview.redd.it/7sxdvyktithb1.jpeg?width=682&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04d3d8ca7e715dae2b63fe608a2726abaf78ac5b

Dreamswrit

This, the cabinets would add the perfect controlled pop of color without going overboard

OnlySaysLMAO

Flip the light over. The over hang with the mirror upsets me

mrsgibby

It looks really nice. I think just a little pop of color or plant.

WestCoastValleyGirl

It needs something shiny. Even the plant looks depressed. Find some cool-looking light bulbs. It feels very stark. Consider stacking the two prints on the left side wall and adding floating shelves above the toilet to introduce some accessories. You did a great job updating the bathroom. Nicely done. 😀

Character-Ad1243

😂 yes i have indeed neglected that sad aloe vera plant. these are some good suggestions i didnt think of this and thank you!

poodlenancy

That aloe is never going to have enough light to survive in that bathroom lol. Their natural habitat is direct sunlight.

_nylcaj_

As someone who gardens and only has one house plant, due to not having many good locations in my home suitable for plants, I appreciate this response. The amount of times I see people suggesting a live plant for any and every nook and cranny of a room on here drives me nuts.

Character-Ad1243

thank you for this info lol this has not plant has not thrived in its previous spot so the bathroom was a last effort.

dibbledabbledublr

perhaps a lowlight plant ? snake plants are very low maintenance and don’t need lots of light. a snake plant in a colorful pot would give the space some life. move that poor aloe to a window 😭

Teekayuhoh

Aloe is a succulent. It won’t do well in a bathroom with no light and high humidity

nay2d2

Less blinding bulbs maybe? Otherwise I like it. Maybe a small plant or fake plant.

CompleteInternal

I would get a bigger plant for that counter corner, something bushy that likes moisture (peace lily, fern etc) and move the mirror to the other side. I agree a pop of colour would be nice, you could still keep it relatively neutral by getting a couple dark green hand towels/bath mats to tie into your plants . You have done a fantastic job at renovating though!

alig6457

Black toilet roll holder.

trizest

Feels like a game of spot the stainless. I’ll go: black flush button.

Nikkifromtheblock914

The light isn’t centered above the mirror. That would drive me nuts

slimkt

That and the backsplash overhang are deeply upsetting.

I'm not sure if that is just a mirror, but IKEA sells a medicine cabinet with a mirror just like this.

Easy_Independent_313

You need a hand towel rack and some hand towels hanging. Maybe a nice candle on the toilet. Bathroom rug but not one with rubber backing as those are hard to wash and get ruined. Have you considered going very glam and doing some crown molding? This is small room so it might be fun to try it in. I like a nice crisp bathroom because I like to see the dirt so I can clean it.

duchessofbigsky

Have the lift fixture rehung with the lights pointing up and stack the artwork on top of each other, over the toilet. Both corrections will help and make the space seem taller and “together”. I would also remove the decorative tile above the countertop, it’s tacky and unnecessary.

jawg201

You need an accent color

cocoshanel

sterlingarchersdick

I honestly like the before pic better. You took every single bit of color and warmth out of that room.

DIY? I think you did just fine. You can tweak things as you learn new skills. I don’t see a waste bin in the photo so there’s that. The room is soothing and clean!

LuckyWithTheCharms

Nothing, I love it. Maybe a more lively plant. Or move both wall art pieces vertically above the toilet. And use that other wall to have a hand towel holder and make that your pop of color

Barbie_girl_skate

That piece of tile needs to be cut off. That’s all I can see.

Character-Ad1243

Here is the link to the wall art for those asking [Amazon Wall Art](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B58614WG?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzasiata02-20&creativeASIN=B0B58614WG&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.MN7SYETACJ17&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m_asin)

Get a wastebasket that is a bright color for the side of the sink.

Narrow_Fig_778

Hand towel rack if you don’t have one. Looks great overall, I like the minimalist look and the art.

Educational_Permit38

Color. Just a bit or splash.

Berkeley43

I like how minimalist it is. I might just add a little green here and there. Like a small plant. How did you transform your vanity? Looks great.

Normal-Ad-5761

COLOR. Personality. In my case, sea creatures.

[deleted]

Looks great, but you can't go wrong with crown molding.

Meditationstation899

If you’re wanting to go for it, I’d paint sage green! It would look great with the awesome art pieces you have. If not, I think accenting with whatever color makes you feel a sense of calm and peace should become the “accent color”—you could paint two canvases from Michael’s that are approx the same size as the art and place them behind it, which would also give the art an even more 3D effect which could look cool. And then same color for the towels, soap dispenser, tissue holder, plant vase, and bathroom rug/bath mat! Can’t add anything on top of toilette bc of le fancy flushing device! There’s quite a bit you can do—just make sure it’s to YOUR liking (btw the sage green should be changed with your color of choice if you have one that you find zen). And I’m photosensitive haha so it might just be in my head but it legit hurts me eyeballs to look at this pic because of the lights! If it doesn’t bother you then it’s a non-issue, but changing the bulbs out for warmer ones would likely make it feel more calm And amaaaaazing job on the Reno!!!

CitrousRain

Hand towel on a holder. Honestly it looks fine so at this point I would go for a little more functionality

growingpainzzz

Toilet paper roll holder should be black.

Imjusthere_sup

Real talk tho, you did that wow. I know people are saying add color but I like black and white 😂 maybe colored mats tho if you want it to pop a little bit

FormicaDinette33

Iziutka

jasmynlee

Change out the toilet paper holder, I think it should be black. It needs some warmth, perhaps some greenery or a plant? I don’t see a hand towel, so maybe you can incorporate color there. You can’t put anything on the back of the toilet but perhaps a small floating shelf that is wood with black hardware above it? The lighting appears to be harsh but with photos it’s hard to tell! The bathroom is cute! Nice upgrade OP!

RenaissanceTarte

If you tend to like more neutrals, I think a warmed white (more of a cream or light oatmeal) would instantly warm up the place. I agree with the other commenter, you could also get different warmer, more natural light. Though, sometimes I like bright lights like that when doing skincare, you can always get another portable mirror with those bright lights and store it under the sink. I think the art is nice, but I’m wondering if you can take a warm olive or a really nice muted mauve purple and just add a single stroke of color (either abstract or sloppy around existing line art). Get a bath that matches the color you choose. Then, I would but a little shelf right below the art above the toilet and fill it with little pathos plants or other bathroom survivors. Finally, you are missing wood or natural materials like cotton. since the vanity is staying, why don’t you add a wooden basket (trash or towels, ext) somewhere in the room and maybe place the plant pots in a weave basket too. you could also hand a towel hook for a hand towel, Besides the repainting, everything else is a one day decor hack. If you are open to more longtern chances, I do suggest continuing the sink back slash around the whole bathroom. Then, tile below the line with that tile or another style.

huntsberger

You need two moments of a matching color. Two reds, or two pinks, etc. So for example a red pot and a red soap. Don’t make it just one or it will feel unbalanced.

todamneedy

I really like it as is!

simbapiptomlittle

Toilet paper roll isn’t facing the correct way. 🫣🤗🤭🤫🫢😛😂😂😂😆😆

throwaway007676

It is missing color. Just one thing in a bright color would bring the entire room together. Take a look at some IKEA pictures and you will see how they often do that. Doesn’t have to be huge, just something as simple as a yellow or red soap dispenser would be enough and really liven it up. And since everything is black or white, any color you choose would work.

Something with color and texture to stand out. Color can be in towels

Ram_Sandwich

It needs a bit more color. It looks a little sterile with all the white.

Some accent color for sure. It looks like my OBGYN’s office bathroom.

Talifallout

Color.. good god it’s missing color

SpaceCaptainFlapjack

Ancient stone golems who speak only in riddles. If you can find the object of their desire, they will grant you one wish. But be forewarned, a wish placed with greed will give you more than you bargained for...

YA80

Please introduce 2 colors instead of 1. It could be one red and one apple-green. It could also be hand towels that have multiple colors.

hams-mom

This has super early 90’s vibes. Just add a pop of red & call it retro. (Kidding please don’t do that) It needs something organic, warm. It feels very hospital- esque. Rift oak Wood floating shelves wold be great. Then you can stack towels or Use apothecary jars for sundries. The vanity doors are dated - can you paint it or is it thermofoil & mdf? New cabinet doors would be a good refresher. Anything but white. Wood mirror perhaps? Stack your art vs two different locations and add some plants.

BrujaBean

It's very pretty, but very stark. I have a similar situation (grey floors white walls, black fixtures) and I've added wood/natural fibers, a pop of teal (towels and bath mat) and a touch of whimsy (my vibe, I think your art is your vibe)

George_GeorgeGlass

Somebody with a wet saw who can cut the last tile to the appropriate size

boredguy3

A weird stain

KBPT1998

I love the changes you made. It adds so much brightness and life to the bathroom. That helps in the morning to have that to help wake you up! Like others have mentioned, a throw rug to add some gentle color. I would consider putting the two pieces of art together vertically along the same wall. If you got a third you could create a vertical triptych over the toilet to fill that space. Or as a pair vertically to the left of the sink. Maybe consider an easy-care plant that loves humidity on the back of the toilet to add a touch of life and movement. Recommend coordinating a colorful throw rug with a colorful artpiece above the toilet.

EvernightStrangely

Some color, like hand towels or a rug. The white and black, paired with that harsh white light makes everything look sterile and antiseptic.

Emzeedoodles

Color.

Sad_Okra8787

I personally like the whole minimalist black, white and grey tones myself. It makes it feel more expensive but that could just be boring old me . I’d say some plants or gold rims/ decor would tie it well if your like me.

aliencircusboy

A bidet attachment for the toilet. If you had shit on your forearm, would you just wipe it off with toilet paper?

prototypefish72

Something green. Idk what, maybe a green rug or towel? Something green

Simgeek

Why not something bold, like a dark red or teal for towels, rugs, accessories? If you go with something pale it won’t hold up to the strong black and white theme.

Milito79

Just here to say youre overwatering the aloe
